Selling what little BitCoin I was able to mine with the equipment I had at the time and selling many months later.

ROI for mining BTC requires a few thousand dollars now and a willingness to mine for the duration without any likely dividend.

Most people are probably going to say faucets and that's probably still how most people will come but their first coins.
42  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is 1000 btc Possible on: September 07, 2016, 10:46:09 PM
Is it possible to earn 1000 or atleast 100 bitcoins with trading Altcoins. If I buy some bitcoin at cheaper rate today and it's price goes up in future?Which alt you think has potential to make me 1000 btc

I think your question has been worded poorly.  You ask "if you buy BitCoin is BitCoin going to make you more BitCoins?"  The answer is no.  BitCoins don't payout interest.  Not now, not ever.

If you actually mean "If you buy Alt coins (be it with Fiat or BitCoins) will they (Alt Coins) make you money?"  If that's what you're asking then the answer is no one knows.  That's why there are so many Alt coins being created and people gambling the house on that Alt Coin being the next big thing since BitCoin.
43  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Holding Bitcoin a long time good way to make money? on: September 07, 2016, 10:38:31 PM
It's like holding onto a stamp or a painting or sculpture, you're waiting for the price of the object to increase without it paying you anything such as a dividend that shares purchased on the stock exchange would payout.

Most people are really only paying for the privilege of using BitCoin with over inflated prices for a handful of dollars (or even just penny transactions) with there being no real difference between a large or small size BitCoin transaction.

Like the proverbial glass cookie jar, put a little bit away each week and see how it accumulates over a year.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is big problem in using of bitcoin on: September 07, 2016, 10:33:17 PM
The block-chain is it's own worst enemy.  Having to download multiple Gigs of data that other people have created is both a blessing and a curse at the same time.

Increasing the size of blocks to process even more transactions may actually slow down the number of blocks created, but will cripple the network as people run out of hard drive space to house the information.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how strong is bitcoin really? on: September 07, 2016, 10:29:32 PM
Well, the best way of proving or disproving is to get your friend to actually sit down with pencil and paper and demonstrate how its done.  No doubt there are people in the BitCoin community who will be eager to peer review their work and they will go on to much fame.

I look forward to seeing their results in the not too distant future.
46  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: APIs to know the balance of a bitcoin address on: September 07, 2016, 10:13:58 PM
Thanks for the information, are you planning on reviewing them all?  What are their strengths and weaknesses?  What do you use them all for?
47  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you use multiple Bitcoin Wallets to store your Bitcoins? on: September 07, 2016, 10:09:33 PM
You know I still use a Xapo faucet, so I have a Xapo wallet.  It's a complete time-waster but I'm somewhat addicted to it.

All my coins are held on my phone.  My primary wallet is Mycelium, which is great and I have no complaints with.  I also downloaded that bitcoin wallet for Android which is very similar to the LTC, DOGE, and Dash wallets.  I don't know how good that one is, but I'm pretty happy with all of them.  I don't keep any coins on Xapo, because I don't trust them enough to do so.

I used to use the blockchain wallet but don't anymore, and also that inputs.io (?) wallet.  I'm staying away from web wallets.

People leave their phones on trains and buses and park benches all the time.  I'd suggest shifing some off of your phone to a more secure location and just keep some day-to-day funds there.  Buy all means keep a few BitCoins on your phone, but not all of them.  (Would you carry all your cash in your wallet?)
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about the idea of a bitcoin shop in big cities? on: September 07, 2016, 09:58:29 PM
To be honest it would be a great idea but I think that it is better if you first introduce the people in the big cities to Bitcoin.
Opening shops in the big cities without people knowing what it is is not going to help much.

Apple opened shops in cities and passing trade went in to see what all the hype was about.  People had heard about Apple's various products, some may even have had a friend with one of their devices, but until the public can see BitCoin in every day use then it's going to be very hard to get the message across.

The media don't care if BitCoin is good, bad or indifferent, they only print a story about it when it has a headline catching title "Mt Gox exchange robbed!" that sort of thing.  The media aren't going to do a puff piece on "Joe bought a coffee with BitCoin."

The media *would* do a story about "First BitCoin store opens!" I suspect.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it possible to mint Bitcoin ? on: September 01, 2016, 10:35:03 PM
Someone could hand you a coin with the words "One BitCoin" written on it, but unless you had access to the block chain to verify that the Wallet Address did indeed have BTC 1.0 in it, then you would have to really trust the person offering you the coin.

If you had access to online, then why the need for a coin?  So that it can jingle in your pocket?

At least with printing a Paper Wallet you have a QR code you can scan and verify the contents of the Wallet.
you are right it is actually possible to mint bitcoins though there is a possibility that no one will be accepting it because of lack of knowledge

There are already sellers of physical BitCoins and they are always asked "Have the coins been redeemed?" or at the very least, they state whether or not they have been (redeemed already)

Given how many people have already made gold/silver/copper coins and bullion bars, which one do you accept?
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about the idea of a bitcoin shop in big cities? on: September 01, 2016, 10:31:51 PM
If you don't like the idea of partnering with a money exchange, You could always try second hand shops or thrift shops?  They usually have a small band of volunteers that can spread the word, they are usually tech savvy and you wouldn't have the overheads of establishing a shop and they can sell on consignment.

You can even arrange to have a BitCoin ATM to be in the corner.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about the idea of a bitcoin shop in big cities? on: August 29, 2016, 12:21:54 AM
They have them already - they're called BitCoin ATM's.

If you want a "shop" any of the TravelEx / Thomas Cook / AmEx currency exchange kiosks around town would be ideal as they are accepting large sums of cash with on the spot rates.  You just have to talk one of these into accepting BitCoins.
52  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Need PayPal bank withdraw on: August 29, 2016, 12:17:05 AM
So what you are really saying is that you want to buy BitCoins with your PayPal funds and you are offering a 53.8% mark-up ( 100/65 = 1.5384 )

54  Economy / Auctions / Re: Want to sell senior member on: August 28, 2016, 11:48:13 PM
I guess you have successfully completed this transaction, kindly lock the thread to put an official end to bidding.

Quote
start bid: 0.045
increment: 0.005
BIN: 0.065

Looks like it's got a way to go yet.  Can I get either a copy of the signed message you've already given out, or the Bitcointalk Account Price Estimator report please?
55  Economy / Auctions / Re: Newbie but potential senior member account on: August 28, 2016, 11:42:52 PM
You're really only hoping to get 0.021 and if you get some extra dust I'm sure you figure is a small bonus.  Otherwise, why such a tight band for your bids?
56  Economy / Auctions / Re: 294 potential senior member account on: August 28, 2016, 11:38:41 PM
I will reduce the start price to 0.023.

Any User ID/Token from Bitcointalk Account Price Estimator that we can have a look at and see what the report says?  There's been a lot of vague estimates made recently, so it'd be nice to get a clearer picture.
57  Economy / Auctions / Re: sell senior member account. on: August 23, 2016, 11:13:04 PM
No stacked address?

There is no staked address. But one address was posted more than 3 months ago. I can sign a message from that address.

You'd really have to hand over the private key of that staked address to make it viable to the auction.  It's always random when someone will be asked to sign a message from a staked address.
58  Economy / Auctions / Re: How much for an old account?UID bellow 17k on: August 23, 2016, 10:59:22 PM
I might be stating the obvious, but without a merchant version of Bitcointalk Account Price Estimator we only have your word for the details.  There's a few others who have been trying (unsuccessfully) for a while now to sell low UID numbers here.  Have a scroll back through the auctions if you don't believe me.

  • 1. Very Poor
  • 2. Good
  • 3. Very Poor

Ignoring 1 & 3 - a full quarter of two's posts are in the Indonesian section, so it's unappealing to me as I don't speak that language.  While a full third are in the gambling section.  Kind of raises red flags if a buyer stops speaking a language or doesn't gamble  Roll Eyes
