41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can I Get The URL of All Crypto News Site? on: June 16, 2024, 01:17:58 PM
Here's a trick.

Google a certain crypto-specific news, and just scroll down along the Google search results then click on "More results" until you come across the lesser-known news sites that have written similar topics.

You can also use the Tools tab to narrow down specific news Dates.

"If it's too good to be true, it probably is."

Don't forget this quote when you're looking at anything concerning money.

If you want 'real' yield, you're either going for those stablecoin LPs(USDC/USDT LP, etc), or those LP tokens of specific protocols like GMX's GLP, Hyperliquid's HLP, etc. These yields are obviously lower than the scam ones, but you know the money is 'real'.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Concentrating heavily into BTC on: June 16, 2024, 07:41:48 AM
Of course I took a tour on your platform and I happened to me amazed with the huge number of Airdrops for coins/tokens but that kept me wondering so how many do one need to participate on? with the number of coins/token I'm confused where to go and this is one of the main reasons I have always stocked with bitcoin, causing less stress for myself.

This thread is specifically about spot coin/token portfolio allocation, not airdrop farming, but yea airdrops have a different risk:reward profile as compared to buying coins/tokens for your portfolio.

And yea, it's quite a lot, but I personally do this full time so I'm not really that overwhelmed. You don't need to participate in everything just like how you don't need to buy every hot altcoin in existence.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ecosystem will drive crypto mass adoption this year on: June 16, 2024, 04:42:11 AM
It’s very likely that a lot of altcoins don’t go up this year mainly because there are just too much of them and now that there are way too many, people’s interest and opinions are scattered.

Pretty much. And the general opinion is still that everything will go up in unison — with which I heavily disagree because of the far bigger spread in capital and in attention.

Actually just wrote about this on a short thread a few minutes ago lmao: Topic: Concentrating heavily into BTC
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Concentrating heavily into BTC on: June 16, 2024, 04:32:50 AM
First, some context: I am in no way a Bitcoin maximalist — I think there's some value outside of Bitcoin, but ultimately BTC is my 'main' crypto holding and every profit I make with altcoins has always been exchanged back into BTC.

In crypto bull markets, the common opinion is that in a full-blown bull market, pretty much everything goes up unison. This is based on crypto's general performance back in the last bull market of 2017.

The thing is, people seem to expect the same thing in this cycle. Do I think it will be the same whereas pretty much everything goes up? I don't think so. Capital and attention are too spread out and too diluted.

Compared to 2017 — as if we didn't have so many coins/tokens already back then, we have far more coins and tokens now; we're talking huge multiples more coins/tokens. Money will be too spread out this cycle that price pumps will likely be heavily suppressed.

I and a lot of people here frequently say that BTC is the better pick for the masses(which has always been true), but regardless, I'm usually only like 10% BTC overall most of the time because I like risk and I have been historically successful with picking altcoins. But this cycle? I have far fewer altcoin holdings and am more concentrated on BTC as the r/r has gotten worse with altcoins, and I think a lot of people will be disappointed — regardless if we generally continue to go up or not.

Will there still be altcoins that will achieve huge multiples? There will always be such altcoins.

Will I be right? Maybe, maybe not. Time will tell.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ecosystem will drive crypto mass adoption this year on: June 16, 2024, 03:20:57 AM
In my opinion:

1. Bitcoin: going with alts is the default idea now, I think BTC will generally perform better than most. done are the days where every alt will go up in a bull.

2. ZK: we NEED it. when will it be ready is the question (probably not this year)

3. DePin: good concept-wise. same with zk — when will it be ready is the question (probably not this year)

4. Stablecoin usage/payments: the no-brainer category that'll likely grow more and more because it takes away one of the things people don't want with crypto — volatility
47  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why you want to rank up in the forum? on: June 15, 2024, 06:43:56 PM
Ultimately, I would like to say to everyone new to the forum. Believe in yourself and believe in what you can achieve. In some time you will see yourself where I am.

Yes, but of course, also put in the work. We see a lot of low ranks with near-zero merit with hundreds in activity — whereas all they do is post and post just hoping to receive at least a single merit; refusing to address the actual problem — the lack of knowledge. A lot of them simply refuse to educate themselves for some reason.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we really fix the money @bitcoin on: June 15, 2024, 04:29:04 PM
Saying that Bitcoin will fix money is an extremely bold word. Do I think it can? It can, but whether it will achieve it is a mystery. Personally, I'm happy enough that we have Bitcoin as an alternative currency/SoV to the current financial system. But do I wish that it could be the most dominant currency/SoV? Hell yes.
49  Other / Meta / Re: Storing the bitcointalk forum on a decentralized file system on: June 15, 2024, 05:32:16 AM
How reliable is the Internet Archive really with us trusting it to store all this valuable information? There are times that certain pages simply fail to load in my experience.

I really don't know how much all the Bitcointalk data will cost when using all these decentralized file storage systems so no opinion on that; and I don't know the risks/downsides of IPFS either besides the fact that it's far more tried and tested.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldfinch - worth investing? (Real world Asset) on: June 15, 2024, 05:01:30 AM
- $53,240.79 earned in protocol fees in the last 30d
- $202M in market cap

They're making little money for how GFI is valued in my opinion. But if you ignore revenues/fees, it could be a good bet if it's the case that the RWA category continues to gain more attention.
51  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thoughts on Passkey wallets? on: June 15, 2024, 04:48:09 AM
Very good wallet setup for a hot wallet, in my opinion, so there's one less annoying handwritten physical wallet backup that I need to worry about.

For my general long-term holdings though? No way I would trust this setup unless I use it as a part of a multi-sig setup(still with a hardware wallet).
52  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Im in cryptocurrency 6 months only but i will not risk like other newbies on: June 14, 2024, 07:01:40 PM
What you guys think about this ? I mean Im new so i might be wrong

Not sure what you really want to hear from us in this case? So you want to take the safer route by not trading with leverage and not lowcaps/memecoins, then okay? Best of luck, hope it works well for you, etc etc.

But yea, since you're new, here's some learning material: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvkpxFSTppmnQ7A5DP386zEKU0Tv_fatm
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin the New "Coin Star" of Hollywood? on: June 14, 2024, 06:30:08 PM
I'm not sure what you mean by "dramatic" in this case, but a better way to describe it is "controversial" — whereas some people are loudly for it, and some people are loudly against it; hence why we get a lot of news about it.

In the end, publicity is publicity, and the internet is being archived — to show in the future who the loud opposition is.
54  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting into crypto on: June 12, 2024, 11:48:39 PM
People first heard about Bitcoin in various ways. I first found out about Bitcoin(mining) in 2012-2015 because I was looking for ways to earn passive income online with zero work(lol I know). I had a very shitty laptop so after earning nothing in an hour, I simply turned off whatever mining software I used.

Then, I found out about it again in 2016 when Bitfinex got hacked. Dug deep, and the rest is history.

Because I find mK4's reply to these kinds of questions pretty simple and straightforward, permit me to quote it here just as I have done in several other topics like this. The reply caters to your personality and the format you are comfortable with for learning. Therefore, whether you enjoy reading, watching videos, or if you want the technical aspect, you have it there too. I hope you find the one that works for you.

LOL thanks.
55  Economy / Speculation / Re: Some bad uses of bitcoin. :'( on: June 12, 2024, 04:10:37 PM
One of Bitcoin's uses is money, and money ultimately is a tool — and literally, any tool can be used both in a good way and in a bad way.

Being sad because bitcoin is being used for illegal activities is like being sad that cash is being used to buy drugs and being sad that knives are sometimes being used to stab people. It's totally an utter waste of your time and emotions.
56  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Airdrops is not free money on: June 12, 2024, 10:26:46 AM
I'm not really convinced with this 50% because sincerely from what I'm seeing in the space now, the pump and dump with this said strategies which pooya87 is talking about is much more than the said 50% (the ones that requires referrals) if you said 30% are decent without referrals, it would be more convincing.

You're probably thinking bigger than 50% because what you're seeing are likely to not be the 'decent' ones. Take it from me who is actually very active in the crypto space(not just Bitcoin) and actually runs a curated airdrop database(paldo.io). Don't have a generalized opinion based on the Telegram referral links you see here and on social media.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find a crypto with a potential growth of x50 on: June 12, 2024, 06:15:28 AM
If op is worried that bitcoin is too expensive, there will still be profits as long as you time your purchases in times where bitcoin isn’t at the peak of its price. You can also do DCA method or just regularly buying bitcoin in intervals.
Scratch the first part as it indirectly promotes "timing the markets". DCA is better for most people.

I don’t think there is any altcoin that could grow as much and for as long as bitcoin has done these past few years.
There will be altcoins that will have very high multipliers, but most of the time it will just be temporary pumps that will very likely just dump back down in the end. Hence, bitcoin is better for 95% of people.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guess Solana Memecoins Investors craving risk right now on: June 11, 2024, 08:22:45 PM
I don't know who else has noticed Meme coins are experiencing a come back, and there's indication that this trend will continue.

What comeback? Memecoins never left — it's mostly still just a game of hot potato where most of the attention moves from a lowcap memecoin to another, with a few high marketcap memecoins gaining(and losing) long-term dominance here and there. The meta never changed, really. Just that the market is getting heavily diluted by the number of memecoins being made.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZkSync airdrop is out on: June 11, 2024, 08:13:37 PM
I did get some, fortunately. I used SyncSwap for months trying to trade spot BTC/ETH for profit. Not a crap ton of tokens but a decent amount that I'm happy of.

As for those who didn't end up being eligible, always remember — In most cases, airdrops weren't promised in the first place, so let's not be entitled(unless you fit under their eligibility criteria, then it's justified for you to complain). All of us simply made assumptions that they would give us tokens.
60  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Airdrops is not free money on: June 11, 2024, 09:26:23 AM
The idea behind airdrop was also not to receive free money, it used to be to get some coins from a new cryptocurrency project so that you can test it without needing to spend time mining it or buying it. There were bitcoin giveaways which could be called airdrops in early days as well like this 5 free bitcoin per claim.
Those were great! But this model simply is not viable today as people will just be farming using multiple wallets. Obviously we don't want AML/KYC to prevent sybils.

Nowadays the goal of an airdrop is so that the owner of that premined shitcoin to "hire" others to advertise that shitcoin so that it can get pumped which would help the owner dump and make money.
Not entirely; like 50% of the decent airdrops today don't even have a referral/affiliate program, so no one really needs to post about it.

There is no project, no innovation, no testing a new system, etc. there is only pump and dump. Sad
There are still a crap ton of experimentation happening(good and of course, bad ones). Saying that there is none is like the boomers saying no one is using bitcoin.
