heh, ill bet animals stay away from your house.

whats the feedback destroyer for? just used as parametric eq? thought maybe you played around with musical instruments/sound reinforcement when i saw that.

Lol, the animals definitely leave the theater room when the system is cranking.  The feedback destroyer is used to create the "house curve" for the subs.  Speaking of the subs, I used to run the JBL 2245H's pro 18's, but after blowing them up twice and having them re coned, I got tired of it and upgraded to these:

Haven't had an issue with those bad buys blowing up, although they have caused other damage around the house.  Cheesy

im more curious about all those amplifiers and other assorted audio gear actually. what kind of sound setup is that stuff driving?

The audio gear drives the Home Theater in the next room.  2x 2000W Crown amps each drive a 18" sub built into the wall.  The other Crown amp drive bass shakers in the theater seats and raised platform.  The Adcom's drive the main, center and surround channels.

I made a little over 28,000 Burst last month.  So about 1,000 Burst per day.  Right now Burst is at an all time low of about $0.005, but it was at around $0.025 back in June and $0.015 in September.  I'm hoping it will get back it to that level in the future.  I already had all the servers sitting around and 60 2TB HDs, so I just added more 8TB drives as they went on sale at Best Buy for $160 a pop.  But yeah, it would not really be worth it starting from scratch and will less than say 50TB or so.  For the investment, GPU mining has far better ROI, especially at current Burst values.   There was a lot of drama in the Burst community up until a few months ago, so I'm hoping things will turn around for Burst.

Stack-XMR seems to be the Monero miner of choice recently - minor upgrade from Wolf's CPU miner as I recall, not hugely faster but some.
 Also, optimising XMR mining hashrate rule of thumb seems to be "set the number of threads to one thread for every 2MB of cache size on the CPU", per several comments I've seen in a few places and my own testing on my Ryzen 1700 and my FX-8350.

Thanks.  I just came to the same conclusion after a bit of looking around here on the forum.  I'll play around those that miner and see what kind of results I can get.

Quote
How many and how big of Burst plotted drives do you HAVE on that thing?Huh

84 drives varying in size between 2TB and 8TB.  Total plot size is 260TB.  It scans the entire plot in about 22 seconds.  The drives are spread across 3 24 bay chassis (Supermicro 846) and 1 12 bay chassis (supermicro 826).  Bottom 4 hot swap chassis shown below.  (the top one is my media server) and the one above that is a GPU miner.

you will like the board i have

you can do 8 water blocks with it

run eight msi 1070 seahawks

That's what I'm thinking.  Looks like the MSI 1070 Sea Hawk EK runs about $480, maybe less if I keep looking.  Doing 8 of those on the board you're getting for me with a pair of quad EK bridges would be pretty sweet I think!
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: November 02, 2017, 11:46:07 AM
^^ Exactly.  I actually have a couple of rigs with larger siblings, namely the E5-2683 14 Core (28 logical threads) CPUs.  One is mining Burst and the other is my media server.  Neither is mining xmr atm.  Perhaps I'll give it a try.

Just for grins I downloaded and ran xmrig on both the 5x1080Ti rig with the E5-2630L, and the Burst server.  These are my results:

E5-2630L:

E5-2683:

I ran with the default json which looks like this:

Code:
{
    "algo": "cryptonight",  // cryptonight (default) or cryptonight-lite
    "av": 0,                // algorithm variation, 0 auto select
    "background": false,    // true to run the miner in the background
    "colors": true,         // false to disable colored output
    "cpu-affinity": null,   // set process affinity to CPU core(s), mask "0x3" for cores 0 and 1
    "cpu-priority": null,   // set process priority (0 idle, 2 normal to 5 highest)
    "donate-level": 5,      // donate level, mininum 1%
    "log-file": null,       // log all output to a file, example: "c:/some/path/xmrig.log"
    "max-cpu-usage": 75,    // maximum CPU usage for automatic mode, usually limiting factor is CPU cache not this option.
    "print-time": 60,       // print hashrate report every N seconds
    "retries": 5,           // number of times to retry before switch to backup server
    "retry-pause": 5,       // time to pause between retries
    "safe": false,          // true to safe adjust threads and av settings for current CPU
    "threads": null,        // number of miner threads
    "pools": [
        {
            "url": "failover.xmrig.com:443",   // URL of mining server
            "user": "",                        // username for mining server
            "pass": "x",                       // password for mining server
            "keepalive": true,                 // send keepalived for prevent timeout (need pool support)
            "nicehash": false                  // enable nicehash/xmrig-proxy support
        }
    ],
    "api": {
        "port": 0,                             // port for the miner API https://github.com/xmrig/xmrig/wiki/API
        "access-token": null,                  // access token for API
        "worker-id": null                      // custom worker-id for API
    }
}

I don't know if this is the miner of choice for CPU mining XMR under windows?  I went ahead and created a XMR Payment_Id and Base Address within my Bittrex account, but I'm not sure what pool to use or how to customize the above json with my personal info.  I'll dig around this forum but any pointers would be appreciated.

So with 2x E5-2683 and 1x E5-2630L, it looks like I would be able to do about 1140 H/s at 75% CPU.  I'm curious what that translates into dollar wise.  Maybe $2 a day?

I also have a 6850K CPU sitting in my retired MSI X99 mobo.  I could throw that in the 5x 1080Ti water cooled rig instead of the 2630L and throw a water block on it, if that would be worth while.  Would probably tax that 1500W PSU quite a bit though...

Couple of pics of my latest rig:

Hot daym that is some sexy equipment.
Would you mind to list all parts?
What is that corsair link software? included with the PSU or water cooling system? what OS does it run on?

Sure.

Case: ThermalTake Core X9 - on sale for about $150 with free shipping
Mobo: Gigabyte X99-UD3P  - used on eBay for around $150 (I started out with a MSI X99S GAMING ACK), but it, despite having 5 PCIe slots, will only allow 4 to work at a time)
CPU: E5-2630L (has 40 PCIe lanes and is less than $100 on eBay)
RAM: A pair of cheap 2400 DDR4 4GB DIMMs
PSU: Corsair AX1500i - used on eBay for around $325.  Very efficient at 240V and comes with a USB cable that provides the stats shown in the above pic
GPUs: 4x MSI 1080Ti Sea Hawk EK x and 1x Zotac 1080Ti ArcticStorm (all with factory water blocks)  These were not cheap, $820 a pop except I got one of the Sea Hawks for $775 on eBay
Rads: 2x XSPC AX480 (about $120 each), 1x XSPC AX240 ($80)
Fans: 10x Noctura NF-F12 PWM these are great for static pressure use like blowing through a rad and they only consume 0.6W!
Pump: 2x EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 PWM ($160 e.a.)
Block for Sea Hawks: EK Quad Semi-Parallel ($30)
Controller: AquaComputer aquaero 6 PRO ($160) and flow meter $50
Misc EK compression fittings and clear 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD tubing

Once the controller if configured, you can run any OS.  I'm running Windows 10 atm while tuning the loop.  Will probably switch to nvOC after that, which is what all my air cooled rigs are running.

That's a sexy setup but I still have PTSD from my last water setup in 2014. Killed two 7970's mining LTC  Cry

I have been running custom loops since about 2005 and, knock on wood, have not had any issues to date.

What software you use to see minerpower?

It's a combination of hardware and software.

https://www.brultech.com/how-it-works/

Each of my miners is on a dedicated 240V circuits, that have a dedicated Current Transformer connected to it.  The CTs are in turn connected to a monitor that sends readings in real-time to a logging / web server device, that will then allow you to run reports against the data.  It is very accurate (99% +) and takes power factor into account.  You can input your power cost per kWh, and if you have solar, it will offset that, and you can calculate your net cost for running each miner.
412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: October 31, 2017, 02:42:23 AM
Here are what my miners consume on a typical day:

miner01 5 x 1070
miner02 6 x 1050Ti
miner03 8 x 1080Ti
miner04 8 x 1080Ti
miner05 4 x 1080Ti (water cooled)

Nice setup  crazydane. Temperatues looking good and also the efficiency across the board. How much is that water cooling solution consuming energy wise?

The D5 PWM pump consumes maybe 12w at 1.5 gpm flow rate.  The 120mm fans on the radiator only consume 0.6W each at 1600 RPM (Noctua NF-F12 PWM).  So the water cooling add a whopping 14.4 watts to the power consumption of that rig.   I'm adding a 2nd 480 rad to get the temps down in the 30's as my ambient to coolant differential is rather high right now (about 20 degrees C where it should be more like 2 degrees).
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1070 Ti is now pre-order on newegg.com on: October 30, 2017, 11:20:12 AM
Ah... nothing really interesting to see here people. 1080Ti is still the king. Tongue

Yes, I love my 1080ti's
But too expensive...

1080ti is the best balanced with the price and powers solution market has now, if you can grab one for $700 it would be basically a stealer!
see for yourself :
1. performance wise one 1080ti is equivalent (rough) for  two 1070 and three 1060
2. 1080ti eats like 250-260W, 1070 - 130-150W, so 2 of them will be 260-300W, 1060 - 100-120W, so 3 of them will be 300-360W - who is the king? 1080ti!
3. the price for 1080ti is $750, for 2x1070 is $850, for 3x1060 is $950. who is the king? 1080ti!

How many sols does one 1080ti do compared to a 2 1070s? I'm interested in the watts and temps of running one 1080i vs 2 1070s

Here's a 1070 rig on top and a 1080ti at the bottom:

And here a water cooled 1080Ti rig being pushed a little harder:

What does the pool you're connected to show for that worker?

Friend of mine is running an Asus Mining Expert as well with 7x 1070's and he's not having that issue with ZM.

Hi again, fullzero and all Smiley I've got a question for you. Some of my rigs now have a problem booting from USB stick. I have many different sticks but after a month or two of normal booting some of them started to fail on booting process, I/O errors etc... I understand that this is a quality problem in most cases, but also I think it's the usecase problem. So now I'm thinking of nvOC/rxOC mod that could do network booting to completely exclude this kind of issues while using these distros. The question is - have someone tried to boot nvOC from network? If yes, please share your experience to us!
Just get a 30$ SSD

Agreed.  Had the same issue using name brand (SanDisk 32GB Cruzer Ultra Fit USB 3.0 drives).  Rigs would fail to reboot after running fine for a month plus.  I went with these $33 60GB SSD's and never had a problem since, and the rigs are much faster to boot.

MSI 1080Ti Sea Hawk EK cards.  The above figures were a surprising run with power level at 95% in Afterburner on all 4 cards.  It was a one time "hero run" I think as I was never able to replicate those number.  I've settled for running at 78% PL with core at +155 and memory at +600, which is giving me the following:

Which is more inline with what my air cooled 1080Ti rigs are giving me.  It just didn't make sense that, as I kept increasing power level, the efficiency remained at around 3.85 Sol/W.   I'm on 0.5.2 btw.

I posted this in the existing 1070Ti thread earlier this morning.  I went ahead and ordered an EVGA one for testing.  Hopefully it will do North of 500 Sol/s.
420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: {Rumor} 1070ti - Real? Thoughts? on: October 26, 2017, 01:25:20 PM
Newegg got them available for pre-order now:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487387

I went ahead and ordered one to test with.  $469 isn't a great price, but if I can coax 550 Sol/s out of it, it would not be too bad.
