401  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: October 13, 2023, 05:22:29 PM
There's no winner in this war. Or maybe there's one, the arms dealer.  Cheesy
If we talk about nuclear war, we'll leave the earth with them.

All of it will be affected and there's no question about it. It's just a matter of time before they will feel it and we will too because they will try to take back whatever is lost and a part of that is their economy so price hikes will come and every consumer will be in trouble on how they will budget their salaries afterward.
In times of war, countries in war doesn't hold back, they will do all they need to fight for their sovereignty. That's the unfortunate part of being in war, we all suffer for what's best for the majority of us, most of people will die and be just a memory for the others.

Somehow, the war has also done something a little good to the perspective of people about saving money.
That's a lame idea, money is worthless in times of war, or post-war periods it has to take some time for the money to gain that power again.
402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a strategy to lose on: October 12, 2023, 06:32:09 PM
I think the OP also do not realize that gambling is a game of luck and no matter how many times you play and how much experience you have, every game is a new game and it does not matter if you have played many of those games before or you're a totally newbie in this industry.
You are right. In fact, everything depends on luck,
This seems a bit of hopelessness actually, if you think that everything depends on luck then you just have to sit and believe that some billionaire will spot you and give you a million dollars. This is lame.

and when it's come to gambling is not supposed to depend on anything other than luck.
I think you're missing the point of OP, there are games in casinos that does not 100% depends on luck especially card games where you need a lot of card readings and statistics to play great, yes there is luck but with games like poker? Uh uh that won't work.

But in the end it all comes down to one thing, no matter how much experience you have in gambling, it always depends on luck.
Our experiences makes us smart enough what and when to decide. Don't believe that it is always about luck. It's about your decision making.
403  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Chess playing with it's potentials to enhance mental productiveness to trading. on: October 12, 2023, 05:05:35 PM
Indeed Chess can improve our cognitive skills that we can also use to trading like concentration, decision making, problem solving skills, critical thinking and pattern recognition. I can advise every trader to play chess on a daily basis, even a single game just to enhance their mind to the said skills acquired by playing chess. I've been playing chess for quite some time and notice how it affects my cognitive skills especially my decision making not just in trading but in general. Chess also helps your mind relax, let your mind work against your opponent, and workout itself in a way. Being trader has a lot of techniques, but for me the most important is how you think through your trades with your analysis.

If you play on Chess.com feel free to invite!
404  Economy / Economics / Re: Germany has become the world 3rd largest economy on: October 12, 2023, 04:06:08 PM
Indeed the good news for the people of Germany, they will have a higher income, better government facilities, they will reduce poverty, and most especially improve the quality of life of its citizens.  But I guess this is not something that we should be celebrating at all, I mean what people of Germany will do after this one? Nothing, they will continue to strive and go to their job.

Honestly, this isn't should be discussed in economic section, if you really want to then try to come up with "Germany and Japan economy status: German surpass Japan's economy by being the 3rd largest....." like that
405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop discouraging Newbies from Bitcoin... on: October 12, 2023, 02:39:44 PM
I also hate seeing many people here discouraging newbies to either Learn first or Never invest if you are not ready , because for me if we are talking about bitcoin ? the only knowledge the person should know is that the readiness to wait and risk.
Hmm it is a bit of an accusation really. I think our community is healthy enough to tell newbies to learn first, read first, or explore first rather than 'Just buy and forget it, open it in 5 years'. The sentence "Never invest if you are not ready" isn't that harsh at all, this just means that you need to be ready if you want to invest and don't expect too much. I guess people only discourage someone if they know, from impression that the person who is asking isn't really into crypto or does not read first at all and began asking stuff about crypto, I won't discourage that kind of person, I'll just ignore it and let the my silence talk.

buy now and wait for the bull run.
When you said "readiness to wait" I'm not sure what you really mean by this.
406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The International 12 [Dota 2, eSport] discussion thread on: October 11, 2023, 07:05:27 PM
I’m rooting for Team Spirit to win this year competition. They show an insane domination on the last 2 tournament prior to the TI which is the same pattern when they first get their TI title.
I definitely agree. Team Spirit is the most favorite this TI after winning the last tournament, I just hope they don't make a amess to this TI12 like what they did last year. Yatoro is something of a carry, he reminds me of AME of psg.lgd, a very good carry who can come back after losing early and mid game. His performance last tournament is very consistent plus the 3-0 in the grand finals against the Shopify Rebellion is just so satisfying to watch.

Larl is finally working well for TS member while collapse is already find his game on the current patch which is typically the game changer on most of their aside from Yatoro being monster as pos 1.
Larl being the weakest link in early days of being TS is expected, I don't really think it is a serious matter for TS but having just enough time to get along with the TS play style, will give Larl the chance to dominate with TS. But I see Larl as nothing against other team's Mid laner, like Abed and NTS.

Regardless of the prize pool of the TI. I think everyone still preferred the title which makes this tournament still worthy to watch. I can’t think a team that can match TS now.
From my past comment, for players this isn't about the money they can get but the recognition to win a TI is more of a life accomplishment that can't be erased.
407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you ever feel tired of waiting? on: October 11, 2023, 06:11:46 PM
To be honest, I've had this question for quite a while. I keep seeing people claiming to just hold and hold; it'll take one, two, three, or whatever years for the next bull market. However, I'm often wondering: do you ever feel tired of waiting for Bitcoin to thrive? The past few months, or the whole past year—I'm not sure I've lost track of time—have been quite stale. Bitcoin has been ranging between $25.000 and $28.000 for quite a while. The volatility compared to other periods is lower than we're used to, or at least, to what I was used to in the past.
Don't believe to anyone claiming they hold, or tell you to hold, that is BS. If you care to think of maximizing your profit then you should have thought of holding just enough for the next bull run and buy again during the bear market. People might trick anyone they come across with to say to hold but in fact they are selling their own crypto. I honestly feel that bitcoin won't be higher than its all time-high, I'm still positive but needs more data to see.

I feel that there isn't too much excitement and this adrenaline feeling anymore; suddenly you'd see Bitcoin climb or crash; you'd be curious when it'd stop, what your next move would be, or simply feel accomplished seeing your money's value grow. Price movements are quite insignificant at this point compared to the huge pumps or dumps that occurred in 2020 or 2021.

That's part of the market cycle, we're not always on top or bull market, there are phases we need to cross, there are changes we need to adopt, and there are opportunities we need to explore around crypto.
408  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a Standing Desk the Right Choice for Traders? on: October 10, 2023, 07:36:23 PM
Both of them do not affect trading directly, but rather on the trader’s decisions, which if they are affected by psychological factors such as trading after eating, or in the morning, or after the end of work, or before sleep, you need to control your emotions, as the greater the conviction that doing a certain psychological thing before trading means that you will make profits is a big mistake.
Well it might have an effect for others not all of us. Psychological effects may affect our decision making, it depends on how we frame it. I guess standing/sitting may affect you trading game, because if you think about it, sitting is where your body is relax so as your mind, so you are be more in a loosen state whereas standing, OP have a point, you  are more alert. I think this is the same as trading with a personal problem or do not have any. Although this may affect your trading style, or decision making in trading, it is just a little thing to discuss about and just do what you prefer and feel about with yourself.

Get a place with good lighting and a comfortable chair, and you can think about trading decisions while walking or running according to the way you find suitable for you to think and make appropriate trading decisions.
In short, trade in your calm state, this way your mind is more efficient in processing and analyzing information.
409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The International 12 [Dota 2, eSport] discussion thread on: October 10, 2023, 07:03:05 PM
Not really a fan of that prize pool, but it is what it is. Valve inching away from the grandest prize pools in the eSports industry is something you would not expect from them, especially since League is faring better in the tournament format and viewership albeit the lower prize pools as well. Perhaps this will be the first TI that I'm not hyped at all, since I believe that teams will no longer try hard to win given that the same prize pools can be had on future majors.

Why not be excited about the best teams competing in the largest Dota 2 tournament instead of fixating on a number. The games are still going to amazing and the prize pool is still big enough to make it worth it for all of the teams involved. (Valves contribution has not changed i believe)
The main culprit behind the lower start to the prize pool is the compendium changes.

I just feel like it's not the same anymore. As a supporter of the battle pass since its inception, and skipping this one, I feel like Valve has to do more and cater to the teams and the fans that has stuck with them throughout these years. With the lackluster content of the compendium, plus the decreased prize pool, I feel like teams won't be tryharding as much, as they can place okay-ish in TI and just get most of their wins in the next tournaments.
Same feels about this year's TI.

I've started playing Dota at the age of 13 when it is still Dota1, my friends taught me how to play it, and it has been my go-to game up to this date. When I transitioned to Dota2, I've been always excited to watch these players clash for the TI tournament, as the yearly tournament progresses like its prize pool it gets more interesting to watch. However this year's TI doesn't beat the last one, it is okay from my view but it would be great if they did. BUT I would disagree that teams won't try hard to win the TI, it is every players dream to actually hold the TI's trophy, more than the money they could get out of the tournament.

A lot have already expressed their disappointments with this year's tournament and format. I'd probably watch it still though I'm sure I'll not be buying the compendium at all.
This might be disappointing but we know valve, they aren't perfect and they will learn from this. Dota has million of fans that will support the tournaments and they know it, not just this year  Huh
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 10, 2023, 06:30:37 PM
I don't keep any records because there's no reason for me to do so.
I guess the OP is making a gamble as source of income lol I don't think gamblers need to keep records or track their winnings or losses it's a bit much if you just want to have fun.

Keeping a record will remind me how much money I've lost via gambling, which will frustrate me.
Depends on the mood, if you want to be happy look at your winning track, and if you want to be frustrated just look at you losses  Grin

I know that the money spent for gambling are more like money spent for entertainment purposes, but it still kinda sucks, when you see how much you have spent on such unproductive hobby as gambling. Viewing my losses every day would make me wanna recover them, by gambling more and trying to get bigger profits. This leads to bigger bets, taking bigger risks and it seems more like a downward spiral towards developing gambling addiction.
I don't usually think about my losses, as long as I played that long haha. But honestly, on random times when it just pops out to my mind, it gets me mad actually thinking about how much I have lost to gambling. Keeping records of your losses would probably make you greedy to make it back to you, that's what every gamblers think actually, money revenge is addicting, so I don't advise recording to anyone that is involved in gambling. Perhaps, if you want to know your winning rate, that would be fine.
411  Economy / Economics / Re: Help me analyze the feasibility of this business idea on: October 10, 2023, 06:13:41 PM
Well you can try making courses to field that your good at, since you are passionate about teaching this might the way for you. I have heard making courses online generates good money. The only thing that may be a problem is your approach, since you don't have any experience yet try to take courses first and study how they approach their audiences and listeners. Also make a good connection wth your audiences, make it fun and interesting. You can also use your graphic skills here so you can make attractive visuals and designs for your courses. I advise to stick with technology, explore ideas where most people don't really think is important.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling vs trading on: October 10, 2023, 05:17:31 PM
Obviously holders have a long time preference and traders are trying to get rich quick. The crazy thing is that even knowing Bitcoin is the greatest performing asset in human history, people still want to trade it instead of holding it. Even with all the billionaires holding has created and all the people who lost everything trading, people still think they’re going to trade themselves to wealth, missing out on doing so by not holding.
Holding is basically buy and sell where time is a core factor, while in trading it is more on analysis of when to buy and sell, less duration compared to holding. But I'd like to address the term used ' get rich quick ' I guess it is not the goal of the every trader, so let us not generalize it, most of traders do want to have continuous win or constant profit, no one wants to lose right? Holders are huge part of the market tanking every bear and holding the floor price of cryptocurrencies as well as the market capitalization. I don't argue of what's better, holding or trading, but do what suits you  best. If you are active with crypto market then trading might work for you, hold otherwise.

I'd rather keep my mouth shut than kill someone's motivation.
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador launches first volcano-powered mining project on: October 09, 2023, 08:02:16 PM
They tried once two years ago and we haven't heard anything about the magical 200MW well, this will be the same.

I also think this is a promotional piece for the country to attract more tourist and more bitcoiners as well because those bitcoiners can bring more money and businesses to the country than it would ever be able to create on its own.
I have the same thought in mind. This could be a cover for a lot of opportunities they are trying to sell us, the idea is very innovative yet it would cost 0 to build the source, just the infrastructures and equipment around it. I think what they are trying to do is sell the idea to other country, they just need to prove it with the numbers after a year or so. If that's the case then they are ready in the next few years to be adopted. El Salvador has been very positive with crypto we all know that, and I guess some countries are making their own innovation around crypto in discreet manner.

My question is what impact would it inflict in coming years for the bitcoin economy? would it change positively or the other way around?

415  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are memecoins tarnishing the image of crypto? on: October 09, 2023, 07:33:12 PM
It's been like this since early days of crypto where it's been used for crimes and that's what makes crypto have really bad reputation in the world. Also recently not too long ago, with the garbage innovation of NFT and meme coins which makes the hole go deeper because most of the people think Bitcoin is just nothing but a pile of worthless assets that will suddenly vanished.
This is why people are now taking extra caution with crypto, hence we are on a bear market for a long time. Although this is expected in a growing industry, where people sees an opportunity to earn money, illegal things would start impending. I would agree that NFT is less of an ideal for what's crypto is worth but we can all agree that art isn't free. It is just that there are people who are driving these ships for this and hyping it for no reason buying overpriced stuff on the internet and decide its value for totally no sense.

You can see that in lot of youtube videos talking about this, while those cases are true to make crypto become worse in reputation but still there are so many good use-cases to look for if you go deeper, hence why we are here.
Speaking of crypto's reputation, I think it's all fine with taints coz we know all the news and stuff, be crypto guys always know the truth of crypto. Crypto isn't bad at all, some people do, and they are just making it all for one reason, $$$.
416  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you manage your finances and family if your income is low range? on: October 09, 2023, 07:06:07 PM
Sharing this photo that might help you to reflect on your current life status

Photo from facebook

The key takeaway here is to get yourself out of debt, in all honesty, I'm in debt to various people, friends, and relatives. I got in debt from my previous situations where I really needed money for some emergencies that I have not been prepared for. Having a low income sucks, especially when you don't really have an option, or trying to get other options, but do yourself a favor to no borrow or loan because this where the most problem will start. Try to save as much as you can, may not be that much but small savings could help. Be debt free, or pay your debts first before anything else without sacrificing your daily needs. Once you got out take a portion, even not 15%, just take time to know what you are investing on and you're investment will be worth.

I've been thinking a lot after seeing this photo, reflecting on my next steps in life, hopefully I'll be able to follow these baby steps and live out a happy and contented life.
417  Local / Pilipinas / Re: PhilHealth under siege: US$300,000 ransom set by Medusa ransomware group on: October 09, 2023, 06:52:26 PM
Saka what the fuck??? Who in the world will use "@gmail.com" as their business email? Wala ba silang konsepto ng email aliasing or paggamit ng ibang privacy and security oriented email providers like Tutanota, Mailbox.org or Protonmail? Not only it adds security risk but privacy as well.

Twitter (now called X).

Every time I see this I think its a mistake, their corporate value is partly contained inside that brand name.  Literally they created a new verb, their brand name became part of the English language and yet its discarded as though worthless.
Why could they not have X and Twitter and use both at same time, I see no problem with that.  Really a move disliked by the majority of people imo and quite pointless.

advertisers are coming back
He wants to be famous, now he is infamous of doing such things. Who would have thought that the riches man in the world would start talking about DOGE in the first place?

Now he rebranded the Twitter, changed it to 'X' what a clueless and useless name for a social media platform. I see what he is trying to do here, he wanted to be noticed, recognize for some stupid stuff, and get called genius for making rockets. I saw the drop of Twitter users after this bold and crazy move.

I would imagine that is true.  Doesnt have to be that this website is run perfectly for companies to want their adverts to appear on the site and its traffic of quite mainstream people, various demographics etc.   Advertising is a global marketplace, before Bitcoin came to be it was said advertising is the lifeblood of the internet because it provided revenue to sites that would have none otherwise and created content and the paid the people for it basically.  Its quite true, its a positive and also an ongoing demand companies want to pay twitter or X because it has the traffic, simple as that nobody has to conclude they like Elon Musk but I see adverts on all kinds of iffy websites and X is no worse then them.
That's the blood of social media paltform, advertisement is their common or main source of revenue aside from some paid features. I see facebook turning all-in-one social media where you can buy goods as well, they are pretty much the same actually.
419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 09, 2023, 04:19:56 PM
Gambling is a place to spend money, although many gamblers consider casinos to be a place to earn money. But in reality, more gamblers lose their money at casinos or gambling sites. So I think all of us here probably have almost the same experience, namely losing a lot of money gambling

Only a newbie will think that gambling is a one way direction game play, if we win then it comes with it's luck and if we didn't, it's another opportunity to prepare better on next attempts, gambling is not a source of business enterprise for gamblers, they are to enjoy themse gambling for fun.
Some do really think that they could outplay casinos, when in fact casinos are design to generate money. How much do slots earn before it gives a $1,000,000 jackpot? a staggering $1,500,000? I mean you're pretty lucky if you only bet a single time. Some people also time their bets, I couldn't blame them because I do it often, and I can say that 70% of my bet when I time it is a win. Casinos are not gambler's source of income, players are their source of income, so just play for your entertainment only.

I also lost money because I lost on gambling, but maybe not that much. But I know there are people who spend a lot of money for gambling. In your opinion, what should we do if we have lost a lot of money on gambling? Do we keep gambling to win so we can cover up previous losses? or stop and work normally and leave gambling? Or do you have other suggestions?

If you're gambling with the intention of winning the jackpot one day and recover all the loss over time, then that's a wrong prediction and expectation, what we should ask ourselves is that how many gamblers have made it successful in these same pattern.
Don't chase a jackpot, that's one thing I've learn with gambling. You'll run out of gas if you continue to pedal towards the jackpot. Jackpot ain't work like that, if it comes it comes.

Talking about the positive 'Bitcoin can change life', I may agree if we are all rich in here. Basically I somehow agree with this plain statement, Poor can  get rich and the rich can be wrecked. If you talk about the potential of bitcoin, be fair and consider the value of time, bitcoin's potential isn't that high these days, quick rich as per the OP, if you wanna be filthy rich with your $1000 go find an altcoin that has totally no use, hyped and influenced by social creeptors. It is crazy how people believed that it is the way to get rich, if you know how it works, you know.
