401  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Satoshi Squared: Cheap advertising for fun and profit on: August 14, 2013, 04:49:05 PM
We are also considering applying the free BTC to existing accounts so that early adopters do not feel left out. That will likely be a manual process later as opposed to the automated free BTC to new accounts.
402  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Satoshi Squared: Cheap advertising for fun and profit on: August 14, 2013, 04:39:48 PM
We are testing a patch to add free BTC in every new account. It won't be a lot, but enough to at least buy a cheap square here and there. I hesitate to announce it yet as the code is still being verified and I don't want to encourage people from holding off on playing in anticipation of free BTC.

We should know by Friday if it can be safely implemented. Right now we are considering 0.0005 BTC, but that number is subject to change at this point, just what we are kicking around.

Good luck any regulator anywhere regulating direct shares.

BTC price up, AM down. Surprised no one else has been watching the correlations. They swing inversely pretty tightl.

Long Term Div Prediction:

We will see 0.05/share for dividend payout within the next 8 weeks.
first time posting here...so please correct me if i've got something wrong

on what is your prediction based on?
imo a lot is changing soon with the new startups and 2nd gen mining knocking on the door
(though these miners will probably be distributed at the earliest during late fall/ winter)
shortterm looks good with more hardware sales for asicminer but I have no clue on midterm to longterm prediction.

Do you assume avalon and cointerra and several others don't stand up for what they promise while asicminer
will stay in the background until friedcat suddenly shows up with a nice product?
Or will shareprice sink so low that higher dividends are used to push it up again?

people want hardware.  AM has hardware and is shipping right now.  That's what the prediction is based on.

I don't know that we will see .05, but I think we will certainly see .04, and set a new high.

For this week, we'll be closer to .025 - .03, next week should be .03 or better.

Wait, what? People wanted hardware back when block erupters cost 50 BTC per blade and AM was making a killing on each unit. Why exactly is the dividend going to be bigger now, with lower margins and the competition on the doorstep?

Volume.

Hello World! Meet Satoshi Squared, http://satoshisquared.com

Currently running live beta, throw a few satoshis in and give it a try! BTC and LTC both welcomed! Always looking for suggestions for improvement, tell us what you think!

What is this thing?

Satoshi Squared is a web-based ad platform and auction site. All purchases are performed off of the blockchain to prevent unnecessary blockchain spamming.

How do I get started?

After activating your account, you can make up to 10 ads and buy one or more of the squares on the home page. Once purchased, your ad will be displayed in that square until someone else repurchases the square from you.

How does it work?

Each square begins at 0.000001 BTC or LTC. Every square has a unique timer duration. Whenever a square is purchased, the timer resets to its maximum and begins counting down once more. If the timer for any square reaches zero, the cost of the square resets to 0.000001. When a square is purchased, the space immediately becomes available for purchase with a doubled price.

What happens when my square is repurchased?

When your square is repurchased, your account will be credited with 90% of the purchase price paid by the repurchaser Your ad will be removed and replaced by an ad chosen by the new purchaser. If you choose, you can enable email notifications to alert you that one of your squares has been repurchased.

Example: Joe buys a square for 0.00024 BTC. He chooses one of his ads and now his ad is displayed in the square. The counter for the square resets to its maximum and begins counting down. The square is now available for repurchase for 0.00048. Tom decides he wants to buy it, so he pays the 0.00048 and places his ad in the square. Joe's ad is removed and Joe receives 0.000432, which is 90% of the new purchase price. The counter resets to zero and begins counting down again. The square is now available for purchase for 0.00096

What if the counter reaches zero on my square?

Your ad stays in the square, but the price resets to 0.000001.

What does the ad include?

The ad includes a hyperlink at the top with fully customizable colors, as well as four lines of text. Note: Hyperlinks are not allowed in the text area.

Are there any restrictions on withdrawal?

We require a minimum withdrawal of .01 BTC or LTC and one ad purchase in the previous week. This policy was put in place purely to prevent blockchain spamming. We want to be good bitcoin citizens.

Can I convert LTC to BTC?

We provide separate wallets for BTC and LTC and do not provide conversion services. Your account will have separate balances for BTC and LTC.
409  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official ASICMINER Hardware Information on: August 13, 2013, 02:41:23 PM
You will never again be able to order an ASIC that can pay for itself in a year. This talk of ROI is now pretty much meaningless because it no longer exists. Nothing built by anyone can ever pay for itself with the sheer amount of hash coming to market.

Buy a miner because you enjoy mining. You may make a profit someday in fiat terms due to increases of exchange rates, but in nominal terms you are better off just buying BTC and sitting on them. This game is over.
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can the asic miners mine scrypt currencies ? on: August 13, 2013, 02:34:43 PM
They could, but it would take thousands of custom designed controllers to turn them into shift registers, and thousands of ASICs just to do the job of a typical CPU. I doubt anyone would ever try.
411  Economy / Securities / Re: I want to invest in a mining company that's on: August 13, 2013, 02:22:16 PM
Right now, today, ASICminer is hands down the best for proven dividends. I believe this to be irrefutable.

That said, no one can say what the future holds, which is why they call it "investing".

On a side note, anyone asking others what is or is not a good investment probably should not be investing. You will eventually lose all of your money.

BTC are rotating. AM on the rise!

sounds like there's a good amount of Mafia in China. I bet friedcat already has a few bodyguard surrounding him.

Corruption follows money as day follows night. All organizations suffer from this, the ones that survive are those best able to produce in their particular environment. In the USA, you have to buy politicians and regulators. In China, you have to grease different palms. But grease money must always be paid, or you will suffer from the grease money paid by your competitors. It is how business has always been done, and always will be done. To believe otherwise is to have have the luxury of never having been in business.

BTCgarden ads still showing up in this forum.

You would think they would have pulled them.

Pop Quiz: What watch brand sells more watches each year than any other? A: Rolex.

Rolex is the watch that says you have more money than intelligence. Good watches, but certainly not the best, and certainly not for those with distinctive taste. These are for the same people who buy a new Camaro of Mustang and think they have gotten the ultimate in performance.

That said, I don't know anyone who wears Rolex anymore, aside from drug dealers, car dealers, real estate brokers, pimps, and confidence men.

(unless the watch is 40+years old)

Yes, that 10% goes for operating expenses for the servers. Cheap but not free. Also it will go towards updating the site and getting the word out.
