401  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about mining on a laptop? on: April 09, 2014, 03:16:43 PM
The OP asked if it was possible to run a miner at less than 100 percent performance to prevent overheating. Surely if a mining program is set to run at something like 10 or 20 percent of maximum performance, then it shouldn't have any issues with overheating?
No, it shouldn't (as long as there is a working cooling system).
Is there a way to set a limit directly in the mining mining software?

Yes, you can adjust the intensity and set the cutoff temp. But as many others mentioned, mining on a laptop is very very unlikely to be profitable.

Every single satoshi should be given to xkcd, its his password after all.

To be honest, I don't think the idea illustrated is correct.
Combining a few common words won't give you a great password at all.
403  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC-E Account All Coins Stolen on: April 09, 2014, 03:00:42 PM
Sorry to hear your loss. Sad

Unfortunately I haven't even got round to sending support tickets. But I heard they're pretty slow and a lot of the time don't even reply. We'll see what happens anyway and I'll keep you guys updated. I'm not entirely sure there's anything I can do other than sending BTC-e messages, but if anyone has any other advice I'm be more than grateful to receive it.

Send the support tickets as quickly as possible. If it is their fault, then they have to refund you the stolen coins.

It seems OP already received a reply from btc-e, and the site literally replied "can't refund and return your money". (refer to post #15)
404  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has anyone played at everydice.com on: April 09, 2014, 02:52:32 PM
I suggest NO ONE to start gambling if you don't and the fact that mostly you will lose the money you gamble.

for current gamblers: I played there once with a 0.001 free account and it's little slow but with good graphics and a wide variety of options (including an advanced looking investment system) I got my cashout sent too.

0.001 free account?  Huh
405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stolen coins at Ypool. on: April 09, 2014, 02:44:23 PM
My hard-earned PTS and RIC have been stolen from my account by a user called dpota2, by cointransferring them to his own account. I was shocked to see that all my coins were gone  Cry

I've contacted support, but is it possible for them to give the coins back?

What are PTS and RIC ?

Protoshares and Riecoin.
Jesus... How many altcoins are there?..

Some say a few hundred, some say a thousand, some don't even care. Wink
406  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help how do i enable auto send/withdraw any input appeciated! on: April 09, 2014, 02:42:27 PM
Are there any wallets that support auto send/withdraw?

I really need this i wanna make a network of wallets where when one of them gets money it sends to the requested wallet automatically

Basically if my PC wallet receives money it sends to my cold storage automatically after a cap like 0.5 btc but i want the money to be sent the PC wallet first before the cold storage incase i need to buy something, i just want it to send everytime it reaches 0.5 BTC to my cold storage automatically

Any info on this would be appeciated, thank you.

I believe there is no way you can do this at this moment.
The closest thing I can think of, is to use blockchain.info to forward the payment to your cold storage address for every single transaction.

407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stolen coins at Ypool. on: April 09, 2014, 02:34:02 PM
Once the coins left ypool there is not much that can be done. But in this case you were lucky and he still had the coins on his pool balance. Therefore I have transferred the coins back to your account.
Please change your password immediately if you haven't done so already. Make sure you set it to something that you don't use on any other website and that can't easily be guessed.

I'd like to remind everyone that we have quite an extensive security system setup on ypool. If you set a secret question and/or 2step authentication it becomes impossible for someone to steal coins even if he has full access to your account.

Best regards,
jh00 from ypool.net

Thanks a lot! Ypool has reimbursed the coins!  Grin

Good to hear that. Congrats Smiley
408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am lost in bitcoin wallet and private key on: April 09, 2014, 02:31:25 PM
You guys are just making what is quite simple complicated and confusing with these explanations  Cheesy.

+1.
All those explanations are pretty much correct, but I don't think an ordinary user (esp. a new bitcoiner) need to understand that much.
409  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: April 09, 2014, 02:28:46 PM
It never will be this way. 10k$ is WAAAAAAAAY too much for Bitcoin. 3k$ is a "red" price I think.

I am not sure, but people did say bitcoin is a bubble and is way overpriced when it reached $100 in early 2013.
410  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: April 09, 2014, 02:24:43 PM
I have absolutely no idea, after seeing the price rose from $100 to $1000 in a few months and dropped from $1100 to $400 in a short period of time.  Smiley
411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIES! I am spayse and I am here to HELP U GET STARTED on: April 09, 2014, 02:12:50 PM
hello
I want to help
must make a Bitcoin payment and account but I do not know how to upload to Bitcoin
how do you have in mind and pay Bitcoin?
thank you

Upload Huh
You want to make a bitcoin payment, but you don't know how to do it, right?

To make a bitcoin payment,
1. Get a bitcoin wallet (Multibit, Electrum, blockchain.info, etc.)
2. Get some bitcoin (buy it or earn it)
3. Create a transaction in your wallet to send your bitcoin out.
412  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to show balance per address in wallet? on: April 09, 2014, 02:06:52 PM
There is a coin control function since 0.9.0.
So, you could enable it (Option -> Display -> Display coin control features), and check the balance of each address (Send -> Inputs) easily.
413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi on: April 09, 2014, 02:04:13 PM
I see, so you mean the wallet that I made at the blockchain which has a private key and a password  but still someone could access it without the password and it's not safe. I'll find out more of the alternatives, thanks so much!

Don't forget to enable 2FA.

I have no idea what I am going to do after I buy some Bitcoins and I don't know if I'll mine (don't even know right now what exactly it is, I tried understanding about it but couldn't understand a single thing) but I'll think about that when the time comes, right now I am more concerned about getting to know the basics and doing everything right, step by step.

Please make sure you fully understand how the "mining difficulty" works before trying to mine. Also, check a profit calculator before buying any hardware / cloud mining hashrate.

414  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi on: April 09, 2014, 02:02:15 PM
Hi,

Very new here, just made a wallet at coinbase because I don't know how else to get a bitcoin address?

What should I do next?

kadyl, welcome to bitcointalk.
You could use other wallets such as Multibit, Electrum, blockchain.info etc.

416  Other / Meta / Re: maybe my ip banned? on: April 09, 2014, 01:52:56 PM
I saw theymos saying that some IP's are draining resources (maybe used as botnets for DDOS) and were banned "see in a similar topic"

Have you ever considered becoming a poet?
I though it was a poet in the start too, Glad I wasn't the only one lol

The thread is here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=557870.0

417  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.01 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE on: April 09, 2014, 01:38:33 PM
Is there any such offer but for newbies? As I am also interested in getting money by my signature

You can't show links in your signature space until you are jr member.
So, I am afraid there is no sig program available for you at this moment...

EDIT: It seems there is one sig program for newbies (link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=493236.0), but you need to have 25 activity to join.

419  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 0.01 BTC Giveaway on: April 09, 2014, 01:28:02 PM
If the list in post 1961 is correct, then there should be only 1 number left now.
Let's see if OP will login again and pay 0.01, or if OP will be gone forever Wink
