Ok I've successfully linked through exec associate on the RPC and I see my CPID on the decentralized web under PODC researchers.

I suppose now to check exec rac on the BBP RPC for status will just depend on the transaction having at least 6 confirmations since that just happened? The faucet worked as well. So I am assuming all is going good here. I will keep doing this work on BOINC.

Hey all, I'm running the 1.4.8.5 - Leisure Upgrade version of Biblepay Evolution now.

Question is, I can't get my researcher I registered on WCG this morning to push through in the RPC along with the "wcg_verification_code" and "true"... I joined the Biblepay team on WCG as well.  I created my username successfully. I also have run and completed processing my first work on BOINC and they are pending verification on the WCG site.

I saw something about CPID not being recognized on BBP team for 24 hours or so. I also realize without my credit being approved by the scheduler that I won't have a "RAC" until at least tonight at some point.

So my question is what do I do in order to get on the leaderboard with my points after the WCG scheduler grants me my first credit? Will the verification code thing work to link my BBP wallet to my CPID?

Also, no idea what the cpk is for but I generated one by RPC, the other I created by some other rpc method. Not sure how one ties that to this all. And what is the staking part for? I have coin in my "Staking" labeled address but I also saw something about external purses or having BBP in one of my cpk's?

I'm able to complete work for the team since I've joined and registered with WCG and completed tasks on BOINC but I do need guidance in how to finish connecting to the BBP side so I am on the leaderboard and correctly receiving BBP rewards...

thanks

Love this coin, somehow screwed up and my wallet.dat is gone but I have my private keys still. Just can't get Agama to load them even if I rescan, the rescan just comes up with errors. That was after I bootstrapped correctly to catch up to date on blocks as well.

Funny.

But seriously I don't think its cool whatever that person was saying to Vlad. So we hashed it out.

See memes are fine.  I don't mind that. Knock yourself out.

Contacted markm already about following through on 13 to complete the process. I'll write a finished tutorial for that exchange. Where would you like me to post that on Steemit? New topic or in comments? Edit original? (would probably be seen by less eyes if I just edited, if we're trying for exposure)...

Not sure what you will be writing about exactly (and which you haven't mentioned already in that blog post). I guess if it's generally about trading there (app or web client or both) on that exchange (even if you were using DVC tokens as an example of one side of the trades), then I think you could make a Steemit post, open a new thread on this forum and in that new thread link to the Steemit post and perhaps explain what the post is about and link to it, then in this thread link to that new thread.

If you are going to add minor details to the web client trading, then I guess just edit the existing steemit post and notify us here about changes, and wherever else it was posted (perhaps even in comment section of that blog post).

Note there is a character limit on Steemit posts (not sure how much).

Just a short post on how to trade with mark for DVC in exchange for the DVC tokens I bought on Interstellar Exchange. So It would be short. It's not very hard to explain. Just need to get the details from mark, send him back DVC tokens to whichever Stellar address he asks for them to be sent to and then give him one of my Devcoin - Wallet addresses.  You said you wanted someone to write about 13, and I will probably buy more DVC using STELLAR platform so I might as well finish the tutorial for those who want to know how that works (getting real DVC for DVC on STELLAR).
407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: December 18, 2019, 05:24:19 AM
Probably if someone successfully executes a trade there should write a short "how-to" guide (about how they found relevant pair, executed an order, and "withdrew" the "real" assets) and post it here.

Somebody wrote the following guide:
https://steemit.com/devcoin/@satoshi0x/how-to-buy-sell-dvc-using-stellar

I invite everyone who goes through steps 1-9, and optional step 13, to provide feedback here.

Btw, apparently there is an app as well:

https://interstellar.exchange/#download

Hello, we would like to add devcoin to our exchange and pool for free so please one of the DEVS fill this form : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScjem42XIcsZrEMPH-3RB53IAcmZvphSk9qC3XlSvzivvjFsQ/viewform
thanks.

Absolutely interested. If I even have a say. Seems kinda like fate to get on an up and coming exchange for a population that probably is dying for a way to do business with the outside world. I forget who it was, but there was an Iranian user on steemit who ended up posting here about trying to run a devcoin wallet in the past year. So there's some interest from within the country already.

Go for it guys. I posted more on the admin board about possibilities. Thanks for the offer parsicoin, I think it seems like a good place for DVC.
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [I0C] I0coin - The Best Choice In Digital Currency on: November 17, 2019, 06:34:26 PM
The only "value" these old merge mined coins have is "sentimental" value.

Absolutely, there is an historical collector value to all the legacy coins from any individual/entity who would have an interest in such matters.Wheter that equates to instrinsic value is a matter of opinion and wheter it does to econimic value depends on individuals or entities having a preference to use it among themselves at an agreed fixed rate or whatever but as is current it has almost zero open market value at a floating rate of exchange nor the volume/liquidity required to give it any such value. ~Methinks

I0C is self-healing when it comes to liquidity. Right now the bucket is overflowing and also needs more than a patch at the bottom of the cone to fix it. I tried calling the Culligan man but it's Sunday - so liquidity should be used with other things you can buy I0C with/as a 2-step process with. Try DOGE for example. Use it, transport it quick. Buy I0C on NLexch

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink It.

If a horse is thirsty you will not need to make him to drink it and if quality of water is good he will have no problem drinking but if you lead horse to pool of piss he certainly will be right in not drinking it.IXC = pool of piss right now.

Well then I'm glad I just drank piss, but on the old chain I spose.

Which old chain? Is current ixc wallet on this same old chain or forked to new one and if so does this mean current chain not valuable one?I don't understand about old chain or is this reference to ixc?? thanks

The one YoBit uses.  Src version according to Yobit is 0.9.3 possibly earlier
412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HORIZON (HZ) New ANN thread on: November 10, 2019, 04:19:21 AM
Well I managed to make my minimalist change take effect (by killing and restarting my browser), only to discover that they are not relying just on preventing you from typing in decimals; there are also further checks so although my change let me type in some decimals for HZ price of an asset that itself has 8 decimals, I was on submission of the form told there was an error in the input.

So I don't think I am going to persevere with the change, in case there are all kinds of places checking this, like maybe in could check when creating blocks, or when transmitting transactions, or gosh knows where else.

I am just going to assume they must have good reasons for the restriction, and avoid making assets with 8 decimals in future even if the asset is intended to represent coins that normally, on their own blockchains, do have 8 decimals.

In the meantime this does mean cheap coins will run into problems more and more as their price falls toward the price of a HZ, and the HORIZON platform will cease to be useful for actually doing non-manual trading of them when they are worth less than a HZ.

For now what the heck folks can always go ahead and use the STELLAR platform instead for such assets if they want to use an automated market rather than just do manual trades with trusted partners by sending them something and being sent something in return.

(The spot markets are so far mostly used just as a way for folks to easily get a few HZ to pay fees with anyway, by trying to keep some small buy offers in place for each asset so when folks get their assets on the HORIZON platform they can sell one or a few for a few HZ to get them started; really most actual trading takes place manually, generally by consulting the current prices shown at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/latestrates.inc and adjusting for whatever markup or markdown the parties agree to and for any drift they feel may exist between the "latest rates" when they were calculated and the current state of the actual, possibly quite volatile, markets.)

A bit of a pity maybe for players who do not like the idea of having to commit ten STELLAR Lumens per trust line in order to trade on the STELLAR platform, but then again once you have committed that the actual transaction fees on the STELLAR network look like they could be a lot cheaper than the 1 HZ fee on HORIZON, depending of course how expensive a whole Lumen gets to be and how cheap a single HZ turns out to be.

I guess it is a bit of a pity for DeVCoin too since it means it will take longer for us to be able to get around to starting to try to get folks to actually buy DeVCoins in order to pay debts that are denominated in DeVCoins. (Currently because DeVCoins are so cheap compared to the size of the debts typically we just let folks pay in some other currency by looking up the current price in DeVCoins of the asset they want to pay with in the above-mentioned "Latest Rates" include-file, which has had the unfortunate result of allowing the vast amount of DeVCoin-denominated debt to not actually cause the price of DeVCoin to increase.)

-MarkM-

Hi markm,

not to be snarky, but I believe VirWox could be a reason that decimals tend to be a bit of a problem when trying to create more than one currency using a decimal point.  In Nova Scotia, I'm sure you are used to using "." whereas over in French Canada it is common to use "," (comma). I found out up to 75 countries uses commas, with some not using decimal point or decimal comma seperators at all. For instance, Sierra Leonean Leones use "Cents" as a subdivision, just meaning one hundred cents make up one (ISO 4217) "SLL"... SLL happens to be used by the Paypal to Virwox "SLL" (Second Life Linden) trade which is a common way people get PayPal deposits onto an exchange (VirWox is a virtual currency exchange) for BTC, which they can exchange for their SLL. Perhaps the HORIZON network knows this since Stellar/IBM World Wire use ISO 4217 codes already. Therefore, whatever currency you created with a "decimal point" is likely "the" decimal point currency in HORIZON platform's mind.  I would assume HORIZON communicates with enough API to help relay info from IBM World Wire to Stellar.

Then again, I'm just a noob. Maybe try using a "," for other currencies to as the decimal point. If you want 0.0001 BTC/(any "currency" - money in circulation) try 0,0001.  If none else works, consider 100 stroops is a denomination of XLM and used on Horizon already as well since it communicates with both horizon.stellar.org and the testnet.stellar.org (or whatever the stellar or horizon testnet site is).

Maybe VirWox trading SLL as a virtual currency for "real life" currency such as EUR and USD as seen on virwox.com is the problem here.

The three latest virwox updates are pretty sporadic but with one around the time of some chaos within AXIOM splitting from the Milieu in part and HZ seemingly "abandoned" but kept alive as part of the Milieu maybe some of these VirWox changes and future actions mean something:

414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How we can introduce bitcoin to local people on: November 07, 2019, 10:44:15 PM
One day, I think to myself about how to spreads bitcoin to other people. After I create threads https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191717.0, I see many of us don't try or don't have time to come into a gathering or make a meetup. So how we can introduce bitcoin to local people in our country if we are not trying to tells them about bitcoin? I know that will related to the regulations in every countries but we can introduce to our close friend so they will spread it into their closest friends too.

And if this is succeed, I think cryptocurrency will grow step by step. I know we can spread bitcoin online, but that doesn't mean all people in your country are aware of bitcoin. How they can know bitcoin if they never use the internet to search the news while we can tell them about bitcoin and another coin by offline.

Add it to Google Chrome. Problem solved.

What truly worked for me was downloading the receiver files and making sure they were copied over to my roaming>devcoin>receivers folder (I was missing 96-99 so I just copied those over after seeing that my 95 was the same as the one I downloaded from the seed at http://devcoin.darkgamex.ch/

I went to this https://github.com/devcoin/receivers and download zip master receiver file and open %appdata% roaming>devcoin and move the unzipped file to this location and rename it to receiver after deleting receiver file already there and my wallet now syncs.
Thank you for this solution.I would give merit but am unable to with newbie status but help appreciated!

Yes, that method works but my intention was to have your help testing if your node can successfully sync with the blockchain and to report any issue in the process. Can you still make it?

I only am regular wallet user.I sync wallet any day I am on here but I don't run a node?

Think that still counts, Windows is just an unfinished product.

If you tried my way, did you start fresh with develCuy's? He would know better than I.

I'm not an actual dev, just a user that found a way to make the same software work.  I had that problem but it was stuck on October 25. Maybe a regional based problem too based on your timezone. These are all networks after all that have open doors in some places and obstacles to overcome in communicating/info getting through from other places.

I think I will wait and see if he has simple solution as I am not very technical person.Glad to hear you are up running.I have this problem before and it just start working after a few days without doing anything but this time it will not fix itself. Thanks

I am getting error "failed to find/connect to best block"

What is the meaning please?

I got that on Windows. I had to right click within the folder my wallet is in, run Powershell, then start the client with the -reindex command-line option in Powershell. I had a backup of my wallet beforehand.

That got my wallet reindexing the chain but then it stalled at a block it had before. I noticed I didn't have the receiver files from 96 to 99 (most recent) so I copied them from one of the seeds and put them in my roaming>devcoin folder with the rest of my receiver files.  My wallet is Windows 32-bit 0.8.5.1 (a beta version it says).  The 2014 update was the last for Windows, unless you know how to compile the new one. But this one works for now. Got it from devcoin.org.

Hope that helps you.

Thank you.Devcoin-1.0.16-w32 running on windows 10 professional. It worked up until now but after october 31 it is having this issue "failed to connect to best block"

In appdata/debug it show "Warning, no coin lists were found for the file: receiver.csv" and "ERROR: ConnectBlock() : Share to beneficiary is insufficient

420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: November 05, 2019, 02:54:13 PM
I can confirm that starting from block 396000 (round 99) onward, there are only 2500 new coins being generated, and they are being paid enterily to miners. Also, none of my wallets are downloading the receiver_99.csv file, yet they are still downloading blocks.

My guess is that miners are generating blocks while ignoring the latest receiver file, which should never happen. This might be due to a bug or a network attack. We should first discard the bug. Which is not an easy task because there are different versions of devcoin running the network, we should analyze each of them individually.

- develCuy

Now we have the issue reported in the issue queue https://github.com/devcoin/core/issues/76

So far we know that round 99 started at block 396000 on 2019-10-26 11:07:49 UTC, and that at least 4 of the 7 file custodian mirrors where well setup by  2019-10-23 17:04:45 UTC or 2 days and 18 hours in advance to round 99. Yet, we should investigate further to determine if that was enough time in advance and if not having the next receiver file prior to generating block 396000 makes the nodes to halve miners rewards and not paying shares, as proposed by Markm.

- develCuy

After studying the source code a bit more, I'm more convinced that we neither have a bug or a network attack, instead we have the miner nodes doing what they are programmed to do as Mark already said. Why are they generating only 2500 DVC per block? Because miner nodes are unable to validate that the 50% + 1 of file custodians have their mirror of receiver_99.csv in sync. For that reason they aren't downloading that file, rather they apply a programmed "fallback reduction" that lowers the rewards to 2500 DVC.

There is an assumption that we had to have the file custodians in sync 2 weeks in advance to the new round, but I can't confirm it yet. So far I read in the source code that miner nodes keep trying to download the next receiver file before, during and after discovering a new block and regular nodes do it when syncing the blockchain with the network.

Long history short, we currently have a contradiction, because the file custodians doesn't seem to be hosting the exactly same copy (bit by bit) of receiver_99.csv. At least, that is what the nodes "can say". But when I compare the files, they are exactly the same. Another option is that somehow the nodes aren't able to download all copies of the receiver file, they might be getting a truncated file or even empty. This idea is reinforced by the fact we had 3 file custodians outdated or with their server offline, the remaining 4 should be enough but it doesn't seem to be the case.

I keep debugging the source code for finding a solution. All help is welcome! We have an open issue here https://github.com/devcoin/core/issues/76

- develCuy

I have finally figured out what is happening and I'm working on a fix. We had a mixture of situations:

1. Two custodians have their servers not working properly, they tend to go offline for different issues with their infrastructure
2. Ctya's server was shutdown in the middle of round 98, rather than at the end, not allowing Traxo to take over smoothly
3. Another custodian has enforced HTTPS connections but most of the miners nodes don't support it
4. The custodians not were in sync early enough for round 99

For the reasons above, we had 4 of the 7 mirrors "out of sync" for the standard of Devcoin blockchain, that leaves only 3 working mirrors when we need at least 4, the nodes are then rejecting the receiver files. The consequence of is that miners apply a penalty know as "fallback reduction", as an incentive for solving the issue with file custodians.

Hopefully, we can finally fix this situation, but it requires consensus from all the file custodians and perhaps adding a couple mirrors as I anticipated since previous rounds. My proposal is to implement one or two automated receiver files mirrors, so that we can lower the chance for this situation to happen again. Also, we have to be more strict with file custodians, if they are unreliable, we can't hold them for a single round more, and that is what I'm going to do from now on. Along releasing the receiver file earlier, we should define a safe deadline soon.

People interested on the technical details of what originated this situation please check the issue queue: https://github.com/devcoin/core/issues/76

Last but not least, the latest version of Devcoin supports HTTPS, but it looks like the majority of miners never managed to update their nodes. I don't blame them because we never released any official stable version for a long time. So we should do it now!

Let's clean up all the mess!

- develCuy

QUICK UPDATE

We are very close to have round 99 fixed. If some miner is interested on collaborate, please try the new prerelease version of Devcoin 0.8.6.0 from the official repository: https://github.com/devcoin/core

I recommend you to follow Qtera's instructions:

https://steemit.com/busy/@cpol/how-to-compile-your-very-own-devcoin-wallet-in-ubuntu-18-04

AND use the following command to download the source code:

$ git clone --branch 0.8.6.0 https://github.com/devcoin/core

FINALLY, don't use it with your current wallet, please create a new separate wallet for your trial.

WARNING: Please mine ONE and only ONE block, then shutdown your node and report your findings here.

Go go Devcoin!

- develCuy

Did everything as you said here in Windows sub-system with "Ubuntu 18.04 LTS" -- no luck. Was missing files even though the instructions I followed to a T a few times in a try-fail-erase-repeat experience that took me about 3 hours last night.

So obviously somethings broken. Great version control.  I don't mind waiting. I read your Steemit articles -- the Lean release process is fine by me. As are Mark's recently discussed long term viewpoint when it comes to "arbitagers" and "market makers"

Thanks for all the help I know you all are working hard on this. That's why I keep coming back here to report my trials and errors. Like you said on Steemit, develCuy, you want the public involved in the process. I am aware of the role playing or MMORPG/whatever aspects to what is said around here. Even that helps me realize computing problems in a theatrical sense.  Like say, MarkM not getting his Axiom coins from Yobit but admitting a third chain may have existed unknown to him when he made AXON after AXIOM stranded some of the Milieu on Yobit's chain fork.  Or like Vlad being bipolar crazy in his antics, severe DSM-IV like paranoia over Yobit and his IXC taking 6 month's to withdraw/yet MarkM having market maker posts about IXcoin recently on Yobit.  I myself cannot even deposit IXC directly to Yobit, but I can do whatever I want with my Axiom.  What does all of this mean to me? You guys already know - I'm just letting everyone here know I give feedback as my part of the "real human element" in the role playing game/fake-chain/game currency/multi world/process that is making one hell of a technological and humanitarian financial-like/gaming product that I absolutely value for more than its "value based fiat" (fiat being a government order not necessarily tied to money - thus it defies fiat, even if not money, and is liberation for the masses that works better than other institutional transfer of information that is valued.  If also, as nova said, it is like money in some aspects - yes markm was right even if he couldn't buy a pizza with BTC as your story from the past reveals. Lastly, develCuy said on Steemit (I believe) that the intrinsic value is not the president on the bill, but the clerk who accepts your fiat money as payment.  Maybe that's needed for something like STEEM and SBD, but all DevSTEEM needs to accomplish is the automatic and reliably quick use and conversion ability of DVC via an app or something in the future to join the rest of the cryptocurrency world in these type of traditional intrinsic value giving transactions.  Because, this is still a simulated test, or a lean process, version control - whatever you all are doing - I see it, and I don't see it out of arrogance or for any other reason than I care.  Besides Vlad crossing my personal lines on Telegram by talking about my personal information he somehow harvested both on and off social media - I can handle the monkeying around because it reveals a simulated personal experience that helps me understand the concept of a network or a system that I may not have the education to understand in technology. Keep up the good work - there is light and so much more than a fiat based currency value of these coins. In fact, I'm glad for the opportunity to snap up coins cheap because they are being manually controlled instead of part of a fully automated type book/machinated market making like environment on exchanges. Markm's posts this week helped me understand how the books are played for the ancient coins, and although he does build both sides of the book admittedly, there's arbitage in the fact that a coin right now that I can afford is not tied to $ in any type of fiat that would in all likelihood be on an exchange where I could not realistically "beat the machine" in trading for profit.  In the future it'll pay off to have that buffered space, delayed fork space, fake-chain space/lean process for long term value in ways I appreciate, somewhat grasp, and probably don't even realize.

Please keep the good info flowing. Someone's listening from the "real world" of the mass public.  I appreciate the game because of the time involved in the effort on the developer side to pull it off so exquisitely. A secure chain is my only interest besides dev time spent on the project and seemingly they go hand in hand. It's a long term view - just like the original AXIOM "AxiomCryptocurrency" account described before it vanished in 2015 - they still have a say in full control over many coins involved in the Galactic Milieu, STELLAR/HORIZON listings, etc.  Maybe one day the action potentials sent out via the neurological fibers, axom's if you will, that began at the source, collective minded people who founded this project will eventually "make you realize" you're part of the founding project, one of 12 "shares" of DeVCoin even that came from one place and found its way back to the other end.

Go team DevSTEEM.
