Odd behavior noticed that my client is stuck at 10 hours behind on 2 connections and the block explorer is stuck at the same block too. What's up?
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: September 08, 2021, 09:05:33 AM
Maybe the high transaction fees problem can be sidestepped by making a clone of Counterparty on a blockchain that uses the same address format as bitcoin so that for each bitcoin address that exact same address works on the other chain; and is merged-mined alongside bitcoin so has a very high difficulty albeit not as high as bitcoin's since not all bitcoin miners do merged mining.

I am thinking of DeVCoin, which admittedly is based on bitcoin code that by now is a little old, but should not be too hard to bring up to date if newfangled features of bitcoin are desired.

Counterparty could even be updated to be able to retain linkage to bitcoin's own blockchain by periodically doing bitcoin-chain counterparty transactions bring the bitcoin chain up to date with various transactions that have happened on the cheaper chain, to pin it all back to bitcoin's level of difficulty/security from time to time.

-MarkM-

This is an ingenious and secure way to help XCP transact on a merge mined/compatible address carrying chain Smiley

This is your dev.  I never lied or led you astray.  My riddle thread could have made the poor rich.  I just wanted to help but the wicked are full of evil and darkness.  I will not deceive you, do not be shaken do not sell your Ixcoin to the evil who will enslave you.  It’s your choice.  I am simply shouting from the watchtower for 9 years.  May God’s will be done.

dear God please make this a Vlad NFT. I want one when I can afford for the mem0ries Smiley
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IXCoin [IXC] The Original Bitcoin Sidechain on: September 08, 2021, 08:58:57 AM

Heads up OG Ixcoin whales:  together you all have millions so of coins but you’re already rich so you have them on ice.  Craig Wright/nChain already launched an unbacked Ixcoin token.  But why, it’s worthless?  Lol

So here’s the coming winter games this year.  Wall Street is accumulating tens of billions from options and futures by illegally manipulating Bitcoin.  They’ll use that money and the media to get the masses in the mix to blow up Bitcoin to maybe $150k but that’s not the real game.  BTC is trash and will collspse.

Imagine you have 200,000 Ixc in your wallet and it hit $1,000 and it will.  You do a quick search and see it’s a total shitcoin.  You gonna pass up on dumping that turd for $200 million?  Who’s gonna resist that?  They’ll be standing by with their billions buying everything you sell.

Meanwhile you have no idea what you just dumped and it’s true value.  Don’t get punked cause that’s the next game.

There Craig, back your Ixcoin tokens now.  Ha!

Next time show respect.  Understanding is far greater than 17 degrees.  Keep taking me for granted cause I know what comes after that too.

Vlad

TL;DR - they’re gonna moon all coins, coins like ixc to huge levels like $1000 to fool old wallets it’s a fluke and get them to dump it all while those currencies will be part of internet 3.0 and be worth magnitudes MOAR.

That’s coming with the next pump this late fall or winter.  now you HODL.  Let them pay $5,000.  That’s a steal.

Vlad.  Still.

link me to nFraud token please. That is kinda shocking info Smiley

- Stay on-topic (Devcoin & Cryptocurrency: technology, market, news, etc.)
- Avoid hate speech, cyberbullying, harassment, etc.

Vlad really loves yall. He's just stuck in a moment  Grin

We at least love him. So when the greatest director of all time wants to tell us how he really feels IXC-DEV will be better off for everyone Tongue

Thank you for the update and warm welcome, Dan. Not as active in the space as I used to be but glad to see that this thread is still active Smiley

A culmination of great history and great minds. Not even THE original thread but certainly an active and long standing one. Thanks to Vlad, hornetsnest, and some others who chime in here in addition to knotwork, traxo, develcuy, and the rest of the active DVC A-team Smiley

BitSnakes, RATS! seen swimming in floods in New York and New Jersey ===>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkvmchZfLNc

Hilarious. I saw an Otter swimming in a creek in Illinois walking my dog a few months back when flood waters were high from the river/precipitation. The repopulation in just 30 years time across the chicagoland and northern Illinois area is astounding. They have even allowed hunting again for otter furs. Its a really interesting cycle. At one point they were an endangered species here.

Do look a lot like roided out rats tbh lol
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: August 25, 2021, 08:39:57 PM
Is anyone working on wrapped Devcoin/bridging Devcoin onto other blockchains? For instance, an ERC-20 wrapped Devcoin token backed 1:1 with main chain Devcoin? This token could allow Devcoin holders to access a whole suite of new applications — decentralized exchanges, borrowing, etc.

So yeah, let’s go from 2 trillion to 4 trillion max supply overnight.  The fed is doing it with lumber and chicken wings so why not?  And did I mention tokens have no max cap just like fiat?  😆

I know this is where it’s going, fractional reserve banking, it’s the only way forward, but maybe wait until more fish are in the net, ey.  Lol

More addresses the better. Would hate to run out of users.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BTE] The Bytecoin Information Thread on: August 25, 2021, 08:07:10 PM
Interesting project but why would people throw away the one and only Bitcoin 1:1 copy of the old days?
Same reason you like hodling your devcoins. Plenty of Satoshi clients that still exist. 3.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BTE] The Bytecoin Information Thread on: August 23, 2021, 10:08:15 PM
Prof,

Any idea why my block height is well above the one you show? How do we get more nodesup?

My electricity was off for a few hours today.  When I booted back up just now, some new nodes connected, and my block count went from 58122 to 58126.  However, there was a re-organization back 16 blocks, and the newest block now is back to Sat Aug 27 01:26:49 2016 instead of last week.  Apparently the nodes have been fragmented for some time.

I think it is important that everyone try to accept connections from each other as well as reach out to each other.  If I get hit by a truck or something and no one else allows each other to connect, the network is still vulnerable.

Prof you ever met markm... he and you always talking about getting hit by trucks and buses lol

True but you have to have a large bank roll. They're greedy, once they finish you out, they're gone. They have no loyalty.

I am really curious what you are talking about here.

Rich or Poor. You're contributions make you the real Satoshi to me. Thank you for your amazing scaling efforts in every aspect of work you put into this. I hope this message finds you well. I hope that this world gets to give you the recognition your deserve. You're much like MarkM, I've seen some posts with the both of you. And Gavin, Lolcust, I even learned to mine some TBX from Mr. markm. I hope you're still around somewhere. Collectively you markm, and all the unsung heros were here all along, not riding lambos and cashing out. Just here leaving the world documentation. I hope this board and software is kept up forever so one day it becomes the library of the greatest  achievements known to human kind. And also the way Open Sourcing not just software or code etc, but the discussions and social aspects of development can help persistent people grasp enough to have gratitude for  people before they're told to be TV. I have yet to lose my soul to the media. It's made me resilient. It's made me care more about the right things. All the best sir.

And what's is the token address?

https://testnet.bscscan.com/address/0x12dee872521b652f1b3f8bc447b44fa2cd82027a

Since you asked for the token address wise guy. I actually found one just no idea who put it in testing haha.

Wow, totally never heard of this,,, but I think OP you have to admit, it may be active now but it was inactive for a long time if most people have never heard of it and most exchanges (I want to say all but let us just say it could be listed somewhere now) do not have it.

I have lately been seeing a few new old coins popping up and reactivating. Wishing you all good luck.

Thank you for your input. But it's never truly been "inactive". I've been in DVC discussion since early 2018 with the devs and the co-founder (who never left or stopped updating in each DVC topic and then some since 2011!!! look for "markm" on the forums). They let me do Social Media posts bc I'm an enthusiast. But we also have been on Keybase, a private forum from an old dev that he lets us use, Telegram, and even Discord.

Remember this - lack of updates do not mean dead coin. The software since I deposited my first DVC in early 2018 was the same software released last on GitHub in 2014 with the "Bitcoin and Devcoin Developers" - which was done by both Bitcoin and Devcoin devs concurrently from 2010-2014 by the Dev who went off to start the wildly successful and EVM bridged Syscoin project and CTO of Blockchain Foundry (a public traded company in CSE and American OTC).

DVC was originally payment for Bitcoin devs but Bitcoin had a head start getting its first $ value thru a crazy route OTC thru online New Liberty Exchange and paid out in PayPal (can we call those real USD$, ask Elon lol):

https://www.bullionstar.com/blogs/ronan-manly/dawn-of-bitcoin-price-discovery-2009-2011-the-very-early-bitcoin-exchanges/

So as time went on Devcoin ended up exchanging all their DVC for BTC to pay devs in Bitcoin because they desired it more... crazy rollout. But also sneaky in that we can assume either Bitcoin devs preferred cash to BTC (purists my ass! Wink ) or DVC devs crushed the DVC spot price to exchange for BTC themselves... prob as a plan to secure the chain. It worked.

FYI

So Devcoin had a purpose in part to fund Bitcoin devs as their first use case. But they even exchanged DVC to get more BTC to pay devs. That is fascinating and shows how close the two are tied at their source value.

Back to when fiat entered BTC rates:

As time moved forward and Sirius (Martti Malmi's) first Bitcoin for $1 trade was done OTC by sending to the New Liberty Standard for the amount it was with in a virtual/measurement? asset called "Pecunix Gold" (rate posted the night before for the next day) and a 48 hour turnover was completed in which Sirius received the US $ amount for his Bitcoin exchange with New Liberty Standard after NLS used Pecunix gold rates from their online money changing services to convert what they valued Bitcoin:PUnixGold and then the amount of Pecunix Gold for $$$ - Bitcoin acquired its first transitive price in dollars. But there was a 48 hour delay and also Sirius was paying a rate posted a day before and done in September on GMT time - I can't go down that rabbit hole yet.

Quote
In early October 2009, there was also an historic Bitcoin / USD transaction which consisted of a Finnish programmer and early Bitcoin supporter named Martti Malmi selling 5050 BTC to NewLibertyStandard for US$ 5.02, which was the equivalent of 9.94 US cents per 100 Bitcoins.

Read the whole post its amazing: https://www.bullionstar.com/blogs/ronan-manly/dawn-of-bitcoin-price-discovery-2009-2011-the-very-early-bitcoin-exchanges/

The reason I bring that up is because all Devcoin had in value was that it merge mined with Bitcoin and that gave it value when it entered spot exchanges of the early years from miners who now had invested mining power into something that had started at a $ price with Sirius and NLS exchange in Fall 2009, so I guess you could say DVC started with its best value relative to Bitcoin (if they even had satoshis back then in DVC/BTC pairs)... but it hasn't revealed its true value yet and I can speculate all day, but in the end gotta redeem block 0 to make sense of it myself. For what? I do not know. Wink Lets just hope it isn't movie tickets. =P

Devcoin's genesis block only periodically appears online when our dev emfox can get the site d.evco.in online. Appears to be down right now but the other place u can find it is hardcoded into our Windows software (in my own experience) right after you start it up fresh and check the debug log. It'll print right out just like the pic.

But that's another rabbit hole for another rabbit to explain. You're OG you get it.

deleting double post in 24 hr. Sorry.
176  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo mining using Bitcoin Core wallet on: August 15, 2021, 11:19:03 PM
A Lot has changed there. Solo mining is still allowed but I don't think you will be able to hit a block with a solo mining wallet. Try using solo pools they might help
Solo mining is solo mining, mining to your own private node or a public solo pool makes very little difference in finding a block.

Now, having your found block confirmed by other miners so the chain is built upon it is a whole different story -- damn good chance that some pool will have a block found perhaps very soon after and because of their faster connections to the BTC network their block gets confirmed before yours shows up on the network meaning you lose an orphan race.

Thank you for the lightbulb that went off in my tiny little brain. That makes sense. Lurking just paid off Smiley
177  Economy / Reputation / Re: Planned merits vs actual merits on: August 13, 2021, 09:15:48 PM
What the heck about merits here is worth THAT much arguing?

I remember being on invisionfree boards when I was a kid and I cared about post counts for rep points - and stars that when with them but - Merit? It's like a bookmark or a highlight to let the forum members know you like or have approved a particular post...

Then again doubt anyone is going to care about people passing around Merit for some speculative reason that it has value and if they do then kudos I wish i had inside info too but I don't.

At least it hasn't turned into a karma farm here... I know you know where that is so I'm not gonna shill it.

Yeah just reiterating I'm thoroughly intrigued and would love to see this happen. Also gives us a way to get into DeFi lending yet a way to still hodl our preciouses.

Smiley

EDIT: smeagol, got thru to Fernando (develCuy) and he confirmed that if you write the contract to wrap DVC it is most definitely worthy of a bounty!

PS, welcome back OG:

..
Edit: I read the bounty page and it says I can get 3/5 of a share for a DVC unicode symbol. Here it is:
Đ as in Đevcoin
..

That's neat, I had no idea there was a unicode symbol like that. It's been added to the gallery:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_gallery

You get 3/5 of a share, three 3/5 of a share symbol bounties remain.

And that is an absolute Truth.  Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the Son of God and the one and only living messiah who died blameless and without sin so we could all be saved by simply believing.

Somehow people have the faith to believe they came from fish and aliens are here and many other fake science projects with no hard proof yet when it comes to God I’ve always gotten the same question:  if God were real why isn’t there any proof?   Look at the masterpiece - an infinite universe functioning in perfect mathematical harmony - that’s an accident?  I don’t have the faith these unbelievers have, I wish I had the massive faith I randomly came from chaos and a fish that crawled up a tree and became my grandpappy.  I’d move mountains if I had that much faith.

Not one denier will have an excuse on judgment day for you have proven how much faith you actually have, just as long as it’s not in a Creator or a Messiah.

To each his own.  That’s why we’re here.  This is the testing ground where we all, great and small - poor and rich suffer and are tested and are given the choice to choose.  Everybody wants to be rich, I wanna make billions on crypto but if you give it some serious thought, your odds of salvation would approach the odds of Clown Darwin being right.  So careful what you wish for and if it’s destroying you, boy, money is one thing you can get rid of with great ease and for great causes.

Anyway, everyone knows I’m a hardcore libertarian so this is all repetitive.   Cry

Amen to that brother .Yes my favourite hypocrite is the one who laughs about religion to their phychic while getting their palm read. I know of a man who sifts these ones as wheat  Cool

That's a funny way to put it but it is blind hypocrisy. Haha
