401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: March 30, 2014, 07:34:10 PM
Prob not..  too close to april 1.    but i wouldn't be mad..

It's not news nor a joke really. It's just someone trying something particularly futile.
ASICs will secure the network. Sucks for GPU miners, but that's just the way a coin matures.
That particular poster couldn't handle that truth, so he's attempting to get people to switch to his Litecoin fork.

Except no exchange nor pool will consider using his fork, so it's just wasted effort on his part.

What I don't get, is why everybody is looking at X11 like it is some sort of new grail or whatever...

Holy grail, no.  But x11 is low power draw, runs cool and cards aren't overly picky about settings for it.   The only drawback to it right now is that it runs 10x better on ati hardware.
so are the algo for Fugue, groestl, heavycoin, quark, qubit, skein ...

And i wouldn't complain if LTC switched to any of those, either...

in one of the algos (fugue?) we forgot to call MyStreamSynchronize after the kernel call. I just noticed today.

Ahh i didnt notice that

But you're saying your CPU isn't clocking down even with CPU use at 7%? That's hard to believe.
PIC

i don't have anything else running, thats my xeon which normally sits at 1.4GHz and only goes up to 3.5GHz maximum, (3.7GHz never gets hit without 100% load)
power settings are set to cpu lowest power state is 5%

your computer might be part of some botnet network  Grin
You might be mining something you don't know
haha i hope not
may-be you have a wallet opened with "setgenerate true" ?

Or "gen=1" in the conf

a new Scrypt-Jane coin launching tonight: NITcoin! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522329.0
for those wanting to mine METH (Keccak algo): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=500175.0

www.cryptolaunch.net will keep you updated on upcoming launches ;-)

Keep me posted on launches with new algos. This is where the C+C hash factory can play out their rapid CUDA programming card. Wink

Christian

I'm currently getting 963,000 Khash for 6x750Ti cards on that METH coin but pools are reporting 190,582,015 Khash. Not sure what's up with that or what is actually being counted.

I should have solo'd at launch since I was top of the hardcoreminers pool for the first 40min but their % jumped to 12,000 and never reported finding a block and then their pool went down Sad

Dont worry..  I started solo right at launch with about 2GH and didn't get a single block.

So..  InstantKGW AND no block rewards to start....

And scrypt...

Waste of time...

Actually, no. Diff retarget per block starts around block 1000 as it requires previous blocks to help correctly calculate diff change.

Good to know.  Now just need it to be X11...  or almost anything other than scrypt really

For heavycoin my 2 750ti's

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487024

are holding around 13.5mh each with CCminer5 and compute 3.5.  Haven't had to drop the overclocks at all (+100 core, 500 mem)
55c @ 60% fan

imho: i do not see any benefit in +500 mem for GPU algo like heavycoin, you can put there -500 mem to safe some power and keep the hashrate Wink

Good tip.  If i stay on heavy for any length ill go ahead and do that.

FAC is still frozen on Poloniex because there is a shortage of about 500,000 FAC in the wallet. This is because someone--who evidently knew what they were doing--deposited that amount on the wrong block chain, dumped it, and took the BTC. They only made off with about 0.83 BTC, so I can cover that, but I will need to roll back the trades that occurred during the dump.

The only other option would be if someone wants to sell me 500,000 FAC for at 166 satoshis. I doubt someone would want to, but the offer stands until I roll back the trades.

Dont have 500k fac sitting around but id be willing to donate a bit of btc to help cover it.

http://cryptomining-blog.com/1801-new-higher-performance-cgminer-3-7-3-for-heavycoin-gpu-mining/

Looks like AMD card got a boost for HVC.  Too bad the 290x power usage cant compare with the efficiency of a 750 Ti!
I didn't monitor so far the TDP of the amd (can't in MSI AB just realise I can do that with HWinfo), but with a card running at 60°C it shouldn't be high.
For some reason, everybody seems to think that the R9 290x is a very power hungry card, but it is rated 250W.
Clearly, past generation amd may have been huge electron suckers but that doesn't seem to be the case for this one

It's still one of the most power hungry cards there is

416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 28, 2014, 12:37:30 PM
This is the most SHIT coin I have ever seen. Since the first day it corrupted on distribution, lost 35M coins.
It should change its name to SHITCOIN.

How come anyone still try to do any business with this coin.

Now 51% attack? I can't help come up with this conspiracy that dev team is manipulating this coin to make himself rich.

How I think it's time to abandon it. Gods knows what could happen to this shit coin again.

Flee away. No exchange will accept this coin any more.

lost 35 mill coins? there has not been a guy selling over 35 million faircoins since the coin got into exchange websites. there is currently 4. and 2 of them is not trading cause its abandoned websites literally, nxt-e and poloniex. there has not been even been traded 35 mill faircoins back and forth in total (in history) on the trade websites. so this attacks wont really affect you. you dont loose anything unless you bought faircoins from this guy with the fake faircoins.

Not 35M, it's 15M.

Look back to the thread. After couples hours of first distribution, dev claimed the database was corrupted and could not recover 15M coins.

God knows what happened.  If it's not "CORRUPTED", then it's like dev premine 30% of the coins plus who knows how many coins it distributed to himself "FAIRly".

This coin is dead. Just flee for your own sake.

Yes.. total scam on a coin that was given away with no IPO and you didnt even have to mine...

Yeaaa...    GTFO fuckhat...

Re-sync'd and 3 connections.  Turned on wallet miner to try and kick out a block or 2
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 28, 2014, 01:34:26 AM
I download the new version, run it.. trying method 1 and get this message.

03:26:55

faircoin-qt -rescan

03:26:55

Method not found (code -32601)

Looks like you're trying to run that from the console.  Open a command prompt where you have the wallet installed at (dont have the wallet running) and type that.
