401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you scared to hold until August 1? on: July 12, 2017, 04:58:30 AM
Honestly, I'm not afraid. I am curious and hopeful. I think we'll be in a better position in September than we are now.

September is the moment of truth Smiley
402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you scared to hold until August 1? on: July 12, 2017, 04:57:57 AM
To be honest I am not scared to hold my btc until august 1 because if there will be surge after august 1 it will be a huge success and if there would be downfall after august 1 then i will hold it and will wait for the price to rise.
You will never feel scared if you know well about what will happen with bitcoin in August. I think you've seen the schedule for the scaling of bitcoin. that gives a lot of the explanation regarding what will be happening with the bitcoin in the early until the mid of August. But there is an explanation BIP148 proof of work change. Interesting for a watch. It will be a huge success of the chain will not be forked and another shitty clone of bitcoin such as BTU with the greedy team.  Roll Eyes

Hey, to don't have a hardfork this UASF must not be activated?

Is BIP148 the opposite of UASF? (If one is accepted, the other can't be).

BIP148 is UASF in this case. UASF is a generic term for User Activated Soft Fork, so the USAF this time is under protocol BIP148.

BIP148 is the rules and regulations of how the fork should happen.

Any advice?
404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / At which layer does the Ethereum Wire Protocol sits at in TCP/IP? on: July 11, 2017, 04:30:45 PM
Where does it sit in the traditional TCP/IP stack? In the application layer I guess?
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 11, 2017, 08:53:16 AM
Slightly off topic,

What others recommended altcoins that does similar bitcion linking for airdrops.

Thanks guys

There was Stellar late June - google them to see if you still qualify - they are distributing until the end of August. On top of signing with your Bitcoin address - they also want your Facebook link .... scary!

No way, how can they ask for FB account? And what if i create one just for Stellar.
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ethereum wallet: safe to experiment testnet and store ETH on main network? on: July 11, 2017, 08:51:22 AM
Am playing with contracts on testnet but also storing ether on my main network. Am assuming this is safe and separated?

408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New to mining? Want new rig help? Thinking of starting mining? Ask here. on: July 11, 2017, 03:43:30 AM
Hi guys,

Getting a RX580 soon. Going into this to learn the mining aspect, and some side money secondary.

Can I know is there:
1. A danger of rig oversupply with Proof of Stake, or even resulting to redundancy of rig.
2. Can we easily transfer to other altcoins or is RX580 primarily good for just ether.

Thanks!
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Auroracoin: how did they manage to distribute to everyone in Iceland? on: July 10, 2017, 08:57:40 PM
I don't get it, how did they validate their countrymen and women's ID on the cyberspace?
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Good time to start mining ETH? on: July 10, 2017, 12:45:39 PM
With the proof of stake possibly starting, is it a good time to start mining ETH?

Am aware there are altcoins that might yield better, but am interested to mine ETH first but wary because of the PoS hush hush.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why did Vitalik use ethash algo? on: July 09, 2017, 02:12:57 PM
because it would give scam eth more hype and sound original, even if it edit other algo and give it own name.

This is how butterin vetnlick come about with ethoreium, took nick szabo smart contracts idea then hire gav wood to code it. Why I always said this ugly crook is the toxic of this crypto, copy people ideas then claimed his own and make billions even if this scam is broken or he have no clue about it

out of curiosity, which algo did he modify from?

it a modified of SHA3 with the touch of Keccak, we can say it a product of SHA3 and Keccak
Nothing with eth is original, Butterin able to manipulated and make everything sound larger than life

Ethash is the proof of work algorithm and should not be confused with Keccak-256 which is a derivation of SHA3 (because it uses a different padding) and is a hash function which is used internally in places like when making hashes for block headers, when making hashes of things in Solidity contract

Thanks for the explanation.

Ethash is used to the PoW (just like SHA256 is used for Bitcoin), why didn't ethereum picked something familiar for the PoW algorithm instead.
412  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: TREZOR Hardware wallets? on: July 09, 2017, 09:25:29 AM
Question guys.

What are the steps that I need to aware if I am using Trezor across different laptops/PCs. I am not at home half of the time and it would be good if a family member can operate trezor on their laptop if needed.
413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 09, 2017, 08:58:07 AM
Is there a way to link to byteball address if the coins are stored offline/hardware wallet?
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Why is last block time different from avg block time (ethstats.net) on: July 09, 2017, 05:59:32 AM
Why is the last block time larger than the avg block time?

415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long to download Ethereum Blockchain? on: July 09, 2017, 05:48:04 AM
hi guys,

I've been syncing for ~7 hours.

Here's a screenshot:

Two questions:

1. Is it normal to only have 2-3 peers connected?
2. why is the chain structure percentage progress counted backwards?

Why did Vitalik use a self-customized hash algorithm when ethereum could have picked battle tested algo eg SHA-2, Keccak etc.

419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ethereum wallet on: July 07, 2017, 01:55:22 PM
