Horribly unprofitable for me.. Whole day of mining yesterday and got only 2 CATs..
The price will eventually rise, and the difficulty will drop, all we need to do is hold till next diff change, it should back to under a 100 so the happy mining will be back Yes. The once the difficulty readjusts it'll become profitable again, and the big holders who mined early can only hold the cost back for so long. I'm not worried. As others have said You'd be crazy to sell under 0.001 BTC a CAT

Several users have noticed traders intentionally forcing the market price down. I believe it's an attempt to either make it easier to mine the coin, or to purchase more coins. Either way the value is being held back.

This is in the best interest of Pools and Miners alike. The pools that lower their confirms are going to hold on to the most Miners.

If there are any other miner speculators out there, I'm WTB Monacoin for Kitteh Coin or Particles. I have 50k of each to trade.

To be honest my main worry is hack attacks. It happened to dogecoin, and I'd hate to see it happen to another site. Unfortunately it suffers the second problem of plausible deniability; if the site did ever go down nobody would really know why.
If you can find some ways to alleviate those concerns, then that would go a long way in legitimising your site as a convenient online way to transfer Cat Coins.
I hope you understand where I'm coming from. These Coins are gaining a lot of value now.
I think a transaction size limit would be reasonable. That way if the worst did happen nobody would lose a great many coins. You can make it proportional to the amount of users, or difficulty, or whatever. The point is that the site doesn't hold so many coins that it becomes a target or a temptation.
Appreciate the response and suggestion. I know this is meant to be a short term solution for transferring Catcoins for folks. I do not recommend users holding them long term. I think setting a maximum amount that you can transfer would be a great security measure. What do you say? No more than 100 coins? Or no more than 500? 1000? Give me your suggestions again please =) I think it should be proportional to the coin's value. So instead of setting a limit by the amount of Cat, set a limit based on the value of BTC cat is currently worth. Currently it's hovering around 0.001 BTC. So a limit of 0.1 - 0.2 BTC worth would be reasonable. As the site is developed and gets established perhaps the limit could be changed, but the more coins it holds the greater at risk it is, so having a limit makes it a scalable solution as the site is expanded and improved. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

That's great news. I'll message the dev and let him know. I'll also request that all pools that decrease their confirms get a bigger mention in the first post.

will try, thanks for the tip! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) :Getting between 265 and 270 now. Thanks ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Glad to share the knowledge. It took me a while to find the right settings. Another user posted these a few days ago. I've tried others but this has been the best and most stable for me. I've tried others and also the auto-tuning but my card just starts to throttle after a few hours and my K/hash drops by a fair bit. The lowest I drop down to is 265khash/sec with this, then it soon climbs back up. Seems to be the sweet spot for this card. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Unfortunately I missed my chance on this coin due to having a rather meagre rig.
However, if anyone's willing to trade any Monacoins, I have 50k Particles to trade. PM me with your best offer if you're interested.

The thing I like about Catcoin is that it's meme friendly, as well as a serious investment. Low total number of coins. Basically the Scrypt version of Bitcoin. If Scrypt ASICS ever hit the market, these things will be worth a fortune. Think about it. This is what happened to Bitcoin when ASICs were developed; ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi.picresize.com%2Fimages%2F2014%2F01%2F01%2F43DC8.png&t=663&c=fNdwg9qE95t7bw) What do you think will happen to a Scrypt version of Bitcoin if Scrypt ASICs hit the market? Get in while you have the chance. This opportunity probably won't come again. I'm not selling my CATs for some time.

Both are failcoins.
Missed out on Catcoin, then?

anyone still mining this?
Yep. Slowly but surely. To be honest I've never really known what to mine on my CPU while GPU mining, so this seems as good a choice as any, I suppose.

Nullu, why are you trolling other coin's threads..? that picture is better suited for cat coin..
Really? It was a lighthearted meme. There's no need take it so seriously. I've removed it though, seeing as it bothers you so.

Agreed. This coin is very difficult to mine, and a lot of smaller miners are giving up on the coin because of the long confirm times.
Please fix this Pools or you will continue to lose miners.

People are gambling on the fact that being an early adopter means they'll see the biggest profits.
Sounds like a sure fire way to make free money to me.
Not for the investor, though.

Made a few minor corrections to the article. Going to send out it now.
Does anyone know of any cryptocurrency blogs I can send it to?
http://www.coindesk.comSent. The more blogs I send this to, the better our chances someone will blog on it.
