Now you confused me. Auto-rescan is supposed to happen or not? If yes, and you won't add GUI auto-recovery, it would be useful
to have at least a pop-up saying "Please reload this page to update transaction status" or something similar.
The re-scan happens as a recovery step when your client is intentionally being fed with wrong blocks and transactions by a bad peer. Then the blockchain is reloaded from the .nxt.bak files, the unconfirmed transactions discarded, and the peer blacklisted. But it is too complicated to also force the GUI to recover. Usually it is pretty obvious that something is wrong as the Recent blocks count becomes negative, there are lots of orphaned blocks and as you noticed thousands of bogus unconfirmed transactions. If a reload of the browser page fixes it, I think this is good enough for now.

I did reload the GUI but only after I shutdown and then rerun NXT so I can't tell if all would be OK if I just reloaded GUI. I will check
on the next rescan occurence.
4002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 08, 2014, 07:13:19 PM
Code:
Released 0.5.3:

http://download.nxtcrypto.org/nxt-client-0.5.3.zip

sha256: 23fc36fba166e00299003407169a26515e6d67c8094b5a06f9c795cc62ca83a7

Change log:

Fixed blockchain rescanning. Clear unconfirmed transactions on rescan.

Not fixed. NXT just did auto-rescan and afterwards 17,653 unconfirmed transactions are still on the list. Machine runs Win7 64-bit.
Did you reload the page in the browser? I have no plans to fix the GUI to recover by itself on this error.

4005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MediterraneanCoin - REUSE your ERUPTER!! new hybrid PoW algo! on: January 08, 2014, 05:06:52 PM
The way I found to avoid paying such high fees is to send 0.1 MED to one address (giveaway, for example) and 10 to 1000 MED
to myself, in a same transaction. It takes some experimenting with number of coins that are to be send to myself but transaction
fees can be avoided completely.

Apologies! we built the mainstream bfgminer, instead of the modified one.

Here is the link to the modified bfgminer binary:

https://github.com/mrtexaznl/bfgminer/releases/download/v3.9.0.1-med/win32-bfgminer-1.zip

It works fine but issue with shares accepted and no blocks mined remains.
4006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MediterraneanCoin - REUSE your ERUPTER!! new hybrid PoW algo! on: January 08, 2014, 03:18:17 PM

Thank you. Are there any special parameters that need to be included. I've got this up and running however, I am not entirely sure if its running correctly. Solo mining I am getting the "New block detected on network" every 1-2 seconds and there does not appear to be any load on the CPU.

Cheers

Same for me. Also, only 3 out of 5 USB Erupters seem to be hashing.

I mentioned it over PM but I'll post it here as well, to check what others think on the matter. IMO transaction fees are just too high.
I have just tried to send 0.1 MED (just testing stuff) and wallet was refusing to send unless massive 0.4 MED transaction fee is paid.
4007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MediterraneanCoin - REUSE your ERUPTER!! new hybrid PoW algo! on: January 08, 2014, 02:40:05 AM
This reminds me the days of Solidcoins.
I hope I am wrong, but this one is also dead before it take height.

History teaches that the best things come into existence slowly. All else is trendy crap (see DOGE and MOON) and last very short.

You should know your head
can go down for much less than 140 BTC there in Panama. Stop playing with people in cryptocommunity, you have no idea who you
are dealing with, retard! Someone might go mad much more than I and actualy pay to have you dead, are you aware of that???

and reported

This community can not hurt me anymore, LOL. You see, my ignore button is gonne after it reached 75+ or so ignores. No joke!  Grin

I and others are supposed to invest in altcoin whos future is totally dependant on unthinking greedy stupid fuck. Deal of the year!

I was going to post something similar in an alt coin thread.

it's just a matter of time until one of these scam 'artists' are going to be tracked down and get done in worse than liveleak/snitches and have their last waking moments on front page thenyc for all to see. Be a shame if one of these basement dwelling teenagers fuks the wrong dude (lol) and gets himself and his entire family done in  Roll Eyes going overboard. but it's a really bad idea to risk your life for a few years worth of pay

Yesterday I stumbled upon an article about assassination markets on TOR and DarkNet. They do exist. That means someone can
pay to have DGEX guy dead and then what, NXT a brilliant altcoin goes down permanently? One guy down (he is just another guy,
worth no more than millions dying every day who you never heard of so spare me of sentiments and empathy craps) and damage
to everyone else. All because guy is greedy beyond belief.

In the end, I will take a loss and move elsewhere, maybe even after this post.

ewwwww.... mods? we're down to death threats now wtf

That was not a threat but attempt to wake the guy up from his dream-a-like state of being protected and secure. Better prevent
than cure, you know.
4010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 08, 2014, 01:23:05 AM
It's not just confusing, it's total bullshit. Graviton made for the community more than most of us. If someone doesn't like fees, then remember how much money did you make on Dgex or outside it but because there was such thing as Dgex. If there was no Dgex and nextcoin.org we'd still have Nxt around 0.000001 Btc and one thread here on bitcointalk.

When one do not charge you to get in and later do not allow you to get out for free than it is called a scam. Very simple.
Should I mention it takes as long as 2+ days to get NXT out, with a 0.9 PERCENT fee?

On a funny note, check nxt:rawdog  Grin

Peace!

I think we need less DGEX hating round here. It can't have been exactly easy keeping DGEX (mostly) up and running over the last few weeks.
May I remind u guys of the heady times of the alias rush and DDoS attacks 2 weeks ago?
DGEX was the only game in town, and without it NXT wuld be a lot worse off now.

I stll don't like the withdrawal fee, but 0.17% trade fee isn't exactly theft. Anyone wanna tell me what Cryptsy charges for trades?

At the end of it all, DGEX is a business. Graviton and company will have had to throw a lot of real money at it, they will need to see some back, otherwise no more DGEX. Which won't help NXT one bit.

If dozen of exchanges doing business with almost the same cryptocoins can survive on trade fees and withdrawal fees that are
slightly higher than using Bitcoin-Qt or other local wallets than DGEX, who is having a monopoly over NXT trades, can survive as
well. There was a loss of what, 800k NXT? Who is to blame? DGEX. So, they fucked up but decided to bail out themselves with
our money. So fucking real world, isn't it? And now, when 800k+ NXT are surely made, ridiculous withdrawal fees are still there.

Basically, guy wanna rip us all off if we want to withdraw our coins and move elsewhere.

The problem is not about the fees, he can start the business and charge 5% fee if he wants. BTW 0.17% trading fee is ok.

The problem is that he created a honeypot not charging fees (only to BTC withdrawals) and after he got all the money inside he changed withdrawal NXT fee from 0% to 1.4% without giving time to cashout... And it was even worse, because he did in the launch date, without previous news. That is theft 100%.

Exactly. To charge 1.4% for BTC withdrawal is insane, if I deposited 10,000 BTC and then withdrew them I'd end up with 140 BTC
less. Or 280 BTC less if I used "instant" withdrawal. Stupid fuck running DGEX are you out of your mind? You should know your head
can go down for much less than 140 BTC there in Panama. Stop playing with people in cryptocommunity, you have no idea who you
are dealing with, retard! Someone might go mad much more than I and actualy pay to have you dead, are you aware of that???

It's good to see some reasonable behavior in here for a change!

So how much money you wanna rip off this great community and altcoin? 800k NXT not enough, I guess. Fuck off, bastard!

First of all he notified in advance about fees.

There was no info on DGEX website. I don't give a shit if he posted it elsewhere. I use his website and I expect info there.

27.12.2013: Server migration over, smooth sailing!
16.12.2013: Fee structure change, instant BTC withdrawals available!
08.12.2013: Email server changed, problems should be gone
02.12.2013: NEXT Forum at Nextcoin.org launched!
28.11.2013: Launch of NXT trading. Welcome!

I read somewhere in the past, what You should not worry about blockchain.nrs. Somebody can confirm am I right?

After checking, running, restarting everything so often there came one thing in my mind: could it be connected with the operating system, in which java and client runs? Could everybody, posting problems with some crashes and need of restarting, also post operating system, client version? I have clue, most problems happens in Windows Smiley

I was only asking about blockchain.nrs because I haven't seen that file in my nxt folder since couple of client versions back.

Besides generating an incorrect block at some point, I haven't had any problems with 0.5.1

If everything else doesn't work, kill the java process from Task Manager and try again.

Funny because I had no issues until I started NXT 0.5 today. It went crazy so I upgraded to 0.5.1 and after it went crazy the exact same
way as 0.5 previously, the only thing that helped was creation of blockchain.nrs in NXT root directory. Everything worked fine afterwards,
node is up few hours now without any signs of going crazy again.

No need to kill Java process because it can cause problems, you can gracefully stop NXT this way:

1. Create and use start.bat to start NXT

Code:
java -jar start.jar STOP.PORT=13333 STOP.KEY=stopit

2. Create and use stop.bat to gracefully stop NXT

Code:
java -jar start.jar STOP.PORT=13333 STOP.KEY=stopit --stop

You can use your own values for port and key, but make sure port is in 10000 to 65536 range.
4016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please not another coin! DOGE is one of the few on: January 07, 2014, 05:12:56 PM
We all know that DOGE can become as big as Litecoin

DOGE is going nowhere. You need to wake up and see the truth, DOGE is A CLONE and as such won't make it. Check it in few months.

Go do something useful with your programming skills.

They have none. They use http://coingen.bluematt.me Click "Check Status" tab there to see how many more clones are coming.

Well you missed the debate on few previous pages. If you are having funny unconfirmed transactions that means your NXT is not
working well.

No, I read that debate, but there you had blocks wrong too. Blocks are ok with me, just those unconfirmed transactions show. Restarting NXT helps to clear them off, no need to download anything again. Just wondering what the heck this is all about. As for NXT working well, it's not at that point with anyone yet, we're still on the way to this goal. Maybe some time by April Smiley

Number of funny tx you mentioned is very similar to number of orphaned blocks I encountered. Is someone attempting to do a rollback
on older version nodes?
4019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 07, 2014, 04:54:59 PM
Unconfirmed transactions [3902]

you guys see this?

Many transactions are from December.

Me 2

I restarted NXT on one node, that cleaned them off, but still showing on others, must be some sort of spamming the network?

1. Shutdown NXT
2. Install 0.5.1
3. Delete all .nrx files in NXT root directory
4. At that same location create a new file blockchain.nrs
5. Start NXT and wait for a while until blockchain downloads, like 15 minutes

That only works for when you can't download the blockchain.
The blockchain is good this time, just a bunch of funny unconfirmed transactions showing in the left transaction tab Smiley

Well you missed the debate on few previous pages. If you are having funny unconfirmed transactions that means your NXT is not
working well. I had the same funny tx issue but also a sort of blockchain rollback that resulted in permanently corrupted .nxt files.

3. Delete all .nxt and .nxt.bak files in NXT root directory

LOL, everyone quoted me before corrections were made, stop it!  Grin

Well, I give up. 051 seems more bad than 050. All time getting minus in "Recent blocks", cannot download blockchain after deletion of .nxt files. Very disappointed  Cry
