Buy coins, hodl the ones you have and don't buy miners.
disclaimer: I am a miner and wish I would have not bought my 45 day late ant s7's B1's.
45 day's is quite a bit. What did they do on compensation? I'm curious as even if they do the crappy one they announced. That many day's is still a decent amount of extra BTC. There hasn't been any compensation yet as far as I know. I have not heard of any either... which is odd. In past they did coupons and were pretty quick at sending them out. But they choose a pretty low compensation, and seem to be very slow on paying it. Keep hoping to see it some day to see what they actually do.

Looks like picks should be open. They will close at block 1200 in this period. Any after that will not be counted.
Good luck to all!

Is there a actual site which compares wallets and everything about them?
You will find a few different sites that compare different ones. Bitcoin.org does this - https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-walletBut the problem are there are SO many different kinds. To my knowlege there is not one that has every software, hardware, cold storage/hotstorage, web wallets, etc. The list would just be massive so I don't think you will find all of them. Main thing you need to know is if it's to store a small amount or a big amount. Then look into hot/cold wallets depending on anwser. And decide what fits you.

They're available for free with the December issue of MagPi magazine which if you're in the US you can find at Barnes&Noble. Unfortunately my store only had October issue in. The magazine retails for $15.99. That is possibly one of the most genius ideas of selling a magazine in today's wold. I read most of my magazines on a e-reader. Just cheap and love when new months auto-download to it. That is not that bad of a price either. Most places in stock are doing bundles with other gear... so raises their profit. Cant wait till I truly can get a 5 dollar RPI.

How do you connect the small piece to the miner for micro USB cable from RPi? Am I missing an adapter here?
I don't see the cables in above picture. There is one that goes from that piece to the RPI or controller it's just a usb cable, I need to look at mine to see if it is micro or mini usb. But it is nothing special. The other cable that black connector to miner is a special cable that you should have gotten with purchase, if you did not it's missing it and you should contact seller. It a special cable that can connect from usb to miner piece, or it can go from 1 miner to another to daisy chain them. I have never had to order the other cable by itself. Has anyone got it from a source that is not seller on cable? I am definitely missing the cable then, they sent me 2 USB to microusb cables and that small piece that doesn't fit anywhere. Left a message and emailed zoom hash, seems like nobody is at their office today Send me a PM with your serial number and we can get you one out today. Highly impressed with this. OregonMines.com fixing another company's mistake on a holiday weekend to help someone on the forums. Love reading things like this. Kudos to OregonMines.com for doing this!

But I would ask them first for the cable it sucks to wait on a cable but hopefully you can get them to ship one out soon. I would check shipping box just to make sure it did not fall to bottom or something. Does anyone know of a source of these cables besides through Avalon sellers?

https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspberry-pi-zero/Would sure make for cheaper Controller replacement costs? Not only could Bitmain use these, maybe, in their miners but it just made running USB miners even cheaper. Hopefully it has enough processing power to run the OS and cgminer ~ this will have ZERO impact , or almost ZERO with mining, only controllers will be maybe with 10$ cheaper It will have a bigger impact on some maker/project communities. A 5 dollar RPI to control someones project is pretty nice and hard to beat. You are right that it will have likely no impact on miners as far as capability. It will be more for those that enjoy tinkering testing it as a controller.

Bitcoin Difficulty: 72,722,780,643 Estimated Next Difficulty: 81,537,027,614 (+12.12%) Adjust time: After 1450 Blocks, About 9.5 days Hashrate(?): 553,398,709 GH/s Block Generation Time(?): 1 block: 9.4 minutes 3 blocks: 28.2 minutes 6 blocks: 56.5 minutes
34 blocks left. Less than 6 hours for picks to open.
Not to far away. Once it does open please if possible do a in a format that I can just copy/paste if possible. For example a negative 7.4 is shown as the following: -7.4 = notlist3d And a example of a positive 7.4 is shown as following +7.4 = notlist3d You can go as high or low as you want, just please don't pick a number already picked. On start and stop thanks suchmoon for doing the math. Start and stop are as following if your looking at bitwisdom - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty: Picks open at 600 blocks completed and close at 1200 blocks completed in the current difficulty adjustment cycle.
There are 2016 blocks in each cycle, so that means picks open when Bitcoinwisdom shows
"Adjust time: After 1416 Blocks"
and close at
"Adjust time: After 816 Blocks"
Again good luck to all once it starts!

My U3 are like my cats, they need a bit of attention but most of the time they're fine. I don't think that the occasionnal zombie is a problem (well, unless it's a cat then it'll eat you while you sleep) How many do you have? When I had 3 on windows i caused multiple times a day of attention. The worst ones were if I was not around it sit there zombied, and no hashing. CrazyGuy's R1 really is great at fixing zombies. I have 6 running on a RPI2 (Clic to enlarge) I monitor them nearly constantly (using cryptoglance) when I'm working from home, and when cgminer doesn't manage to restart the occasionnal zombie, I get to unplug/plug the USB cable. it happens 2/3 times a day. (and not 2/3 times per U3, but generally) I have 3 running on the power adapter and 3 on a 650W power supply that also runs my BFL30Ghs and 4 fans. I've ordered shorter USB cable so I don't have to loop them as I'm doing with the long ones coming with the U3. Nice setup. I highly suggest looking into CrazyGuy's R1 firmware - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=612390.0 select the custom firmware when ordering. With it you won't even be monitoring like you have been. With my 3 I was constantly walking looking for red LED (I had in a spot I walked past so I could see led to verify still mining). But with the the custom R1 I not only don't have to monitor but I don't have to reset, it does it all. It's a lot for me personally.

Well, first of all hi to everybody, i'm a newbie in this cryptocurrency thing, so a lot of doubts are in my mind these days. I have this question, looking here for the answer I didn't found yet, basically the subject says it all.
If bitcoin transactions are irreversible, why some platforms (online wallets, exchanges, etc) need X confirmations to "validate" a transaction?
You answered yourself. Exactly due to fact that bitcoin transaction are irreversible it is wise to wait for at least 1 confirmation of the network. Unless there is 1 (or more confirmations) there is a risk of 'double spending' of bitcoin. Even with 0 confirmations the risks of double spend are insanely overblown. Unless you are paying a lot for something really important, then chances are you can be perfectly ok with 0 confirmations and sleep better at night, certainly better than credit card transactions. The risk is not zero though. Double spends can happen so why not prevent them? With waiting for a few confirmations you stop double spending, and assure you receive the BTC. So I think it's worth it and we will people continue to wait.

Those who were not paid the full amount last week, please PM me! Any word on this? I know a few of us sent PM's for it. But have not heard what happens. And I realize it's holiday/family time for a lot right now so might be a bit on answer. But truly would appreciate an update.

I was just on hashnest and deposited 10 mbtc to it. Then, I was set on purchasing antminer s7 Gigahashes. I then noticed that the maintenance fees were a maximum of 30% for 8 GH/s purchase for 10mbtc I then noticed that the maintenance fees for an s3 was a maximum of 80% of 40 GH/s for around 9 mbtc. So I bought 40GH/s of s3 contracts instead (recon ROI will be faster)!
Any Comments?
S3 is kinda old tech at this point, and not the greatest electricity efficiency. Before going crazy on S3's i would do some serious ROI math. If difficulty keeps going up like it is hashnest's fees make S3 not so great on earning. I personally would not go under S5 unless you got a steal of a deal.

Anyone have a Raspberry PI Zero? - http://www.adafruit.com/products/2885I'm curious to see if it might be able to be a controller. Seems petty close to the B models as far as specs. Just much smaller and only 5 bucks. Just would be fun to see if it would work. Either way guess I have a new toy to try to find . I saw some in stock but I really want the 5 dollar without all the add-ons, as I think I have most of what I need in my parts. If you want something that will blow the socks off specs speed and then some you should look at the ODRIOD been around for as long as Rasbery pi have and not well known as PI but their massively higher in spec. The Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) Octa Core Linux Computer Samsung Exynos5422 Cortex-A15 2.0Ghz quad core and Cortex-A7 quad core Mali-T628 MP6(OpenGL ES 3.0/2.0/1.1 and OpenCL 1.1 Full profile) eMMC5.0 HS400 Flash Storage 2 x USB 3.0 Host, 1 x USB 2.0 Host, Gigabit Ethernet port XUbuntu 15.04 or Android 4.4 Operating System Size : 82 x 58 x 22 mm approx(including cooling fan) $74.00 http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G143452239825Once I got my funds sorted out am going to be buying one as was looking at their ODROID-XU3 unit but now discontinued due to the ODROID-XU4 coming out and lot better. Am looking to maybe make a farm with using them and some pic to usb converters for gpu mining and then look at farm for maybe some of the new avalon units or bitmain if the prices come down enough and also power use reduces on new revisions of them. Hows the mining been working on the Avalon 6 you braking any profit in the market on them or just used as hobby and a nice winter warmer Intersting device does appear to have a decent amount of power. I don't think they will be designing a firmware for it. Eventually I think there will be a RPI 2 firmware.. But in all honestly a RPI B/B+ is a great controller already does not take much more that. I have not had any issues on Avalon 6 using it. And have had 4.1's using them for a long time at this. Again no issues.

Micro-USB sockets for data and power From the spec sheet. Does anyone know if you can set data transmission to run through through the GPIO headers on previous models? Obviously that would be the cheapest solution if used with a dedicated controller board on a miner. The header can be used to add a Wi-Fi shield. That bumps the cost up to model B prices, hence why use it? I think the reason would be for fun, or space. Buying a RPI B/B+ would be easier and they are not expensive. I do think there are multiple things such as usb to Ethernet you could get cheap and add on to RPI zero. But one thing to keep in mind is it seems most places with a RPI zero turned it into a kit with cheap accessories.... so you might even be spending more then a RPI B currently.

Has any one thought of combining a couple of s3's together sort of like the C1 but not changing over the heat sink. I mean Sort of like how the s5 is done. Would it be worth it? I mean have one controller controlling all 3 s3 instead of three separate units?
I think the problem will be getting the controllers. I doubt bitmain has C1 controllers in stock anymore (I could be wrong, they may surprise me). But if you do I think if I remember right will allow 4 blades so I think you could hook up two S3's. But by the time you add this I think it's just not worth it. S3 are getting dated I would try to use separate and squeeze out more profit instead of buying the new controller, unless your doing it for sake of modding and not based on ROI. Was thinking it might be more efficient running 4 or more together than separate. It would be more efficient to run 4 blades vs 2. The problem is the price of the controller if they even have them in stock on C1 controllers. When you pay say 150 per S3 (was 100 before price of btc went up). The 40ish dollars I'm guessing on controller just is a decent amount of the machines overall cost, even divided between the two. Granted it makes it easier as 1 IP for the 4 blades.... but I think it's not worth it unless you happen to have controller laying around.

faucets for newbies and signature campaigns for anyone more used to BTC.
Faucets really are not that helpful. You make cents per hour. You would be better off buying 5 dollars of BTC from a exchange and use that faucet time to learn something. Its just insane how many people waste time then later figure out it's dust in a wallet for the most part. The signature campaigns are really good down the line. Wait till full member and they go up quite a bit in payment. But they are best way if used right (IE you don't spam).
