4081  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the price of Bitcoin on 1 April 2016 - win CBX (Crypto Bullion) on: April 04, 2015, 07:08:21 PM
do you save a screenshot of every prediction so people can not change it afterwards?

i think it will be $650
4082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The technology behind Bitcoin is not important on: April 04, 2015, 07:04:56 PM
it is important. i as average joe would like to know what makes bitcoin that different and why is the technology behind it so important before using it. however this might be a personal thing. every person is different.
4083  Economy / Speculation / Re: Humans aren't rational. Bitcoin won't be a % of world economy, but a multiple. on: April 04, 2015, 09:54:08 AM
Interesting point by the OP. BTC is both a speculative asset and a currency and then there are those parts we don't exactly understand. The market cap, so to speak, is the perceived/speculative value combined with the actual value. The latter being a bit too soon to say. Just supply and demand, with some early adopter quirks thrown in. (I.e. They have lots!)

At this time early adopters might have some downward pressure on BTC due to selling, along with current miner selling. It is going to take some time to see where she goes.

And in the near future there will be threads making fun of those who were making fun of BTC e.g. The misunderstood transactions per second post above with the old lady hunter, lol.

He who laughs last, laughs loudest. Careful careful...

how long do you think it will take early adopters to sell their stash. i imagine they sold quite a bit at the $1k peak but there is still so much in their hands. there might also be early adopters waiting for when bitcoin really takes off. these dumps allow us to make profit.
4084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto as Lead Developer in Bitstake on: April 04, 2015, 09:47:01 AM
What kind of troll story is this? So he was exiled in the years that he was gone?

don't take it so serious. just look at the date that it is posted. that will explain everything to you.  Smiley
4085  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2FA Options - Which is best? POLL on: April 04, 2015, 09:44:07 AM
i only use google authenticator like most other people do. it's easy and makes hacking of accounts so much more difficult.
most of the other options in the pol are unknown to me.
4086  Economy / Speculation / Re: I need to retire already on: April 03, 2015, 11:17:05 PM
OK guys and gals, I've 80 bitcoins (did have 410, but sold most to buy a house last September. Bad timing or what!)
Anyhoo, I'm sick of work and figure if bitcoins get to $15,000 I can retire.
When do you reckon that will happen?

my guess is you will need to wait at least 10 years to see bitcoin above $10,000
just continue with what you were doing or do something else and think about your coins getting more value every year.
4087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Tyrone Bitcoin Video on: April 03, 2015, 11:12:14 PM
thanks for the share. never seen that guy before but he has been responsible for the rise? which rise? bitcoin is only a few bucks up. nothing special.
4088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Really End World Poverty? on: April 03, 2015, 07:30:18 PM
it definitely won't end world poverty. it can make their life a bit easier but that's all.
once their corrupt governments stop with filling their pockets with money that was meant to be for the people there, it might contribute to less poverty.
4089  Economy / Economics / Re: Online service for tracing large wallets on: April 03, 2015, 07:21:51 PM
there are block explorers that do exactly that what you describe. most of them are altcoin related but it can be done for bitcoin too.

Could you please post a link to one of them that does exactly what I need (actually, two, for bitcoin and dogecoin)?

See you added a link, now testing. It seems there are neither btc nor doge there...

look at bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin and bitinfocharts.com/dogecoin this might be something you are looking for.

4091  Economy / Speculation / Re: I cant imagine a plausible chain of events preventing btc from reaching the moon on: April 03, 2015, 10:58:26 AM
It's really too simple. Nothing happens then people lose interest.

people are expecting too much. they want to see the price going up and up and up just to sell their coins.
why not just relax and have patience. if nothing happens in a month it doesn't mean people losing interest.
4092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Half a million bitcoins from Mt.Gox just moved.... on: April 03, 2015, 09:49:43 AM
mtgox coins are most likely mixed a hundred times and split into very small wallets. and surely a certain % of the coins are dumped.

Massive amounts of them coins have been dumped since they was stolen, probably one of the reasons the price has come to less than a quarter of the price since then. I do wonder how much they have left though, because they must have quite a stack still the horrible little thieves, so so much stolen funds never to be returned no wonder we lost a lot of people who was around for that.

the dump of gox coins definitely had a huge negative impact on the price but the current price is also the result of merchants getting their sales converted to fiat.
4093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Tipping Poll on: April 03, 2015, 09:46:55 AM
I haven't yet but I probably would if it was implemented on here or on places like Youtube and Facebook etc. Maybe you should add a third option.

if you implement a tipping service here wouldn't that create a flood of beggars trying to get a penny?

i have never used a tipping service yet and probably won't in the near future but i see how it can be useful.

4095  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I day trade my bitcoins with the minimum fees? on: April 03, 2015, 12:07:42 AM
Would bitstamp ask for ID and paperwork if I go over the $10,000 mark? Even if I move my coins into their exchange and is over $10,000 ?

Also, how reliable are the chinese exchanges? I heard of few that were "hacked" and got shut down...

I'm pretty sure Bitstamp want your DNA sample for anything these days. They wouldn't even release coins to unverified accounts. You can drop coins onto Bitfinex without verifying I think.

Loads of exchanges have had problems. You'll have to wait for something like Gemini, the Winklevoss one, to find something safe, insured and dependable. You take your chances with all of the current crop but I don't think the really big Chinese exchanges have had major problems. Lots of little ones have.

it is beyond insane that bitstamp close accounts and seize the bitcoins of customers if they didn't verify their account on time.
not something you would expect from a respected exchange as bitstamp.
4096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: today's msn money article on: April 02, 2015, 05:16:56 PM
what an absolute rubbish article. 'tired of bitcoin' people are tired of altcoins.
nowadays quite a few articles published lack quality. this article is one of them.
4097  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Where to invest Bitcoins on: April 02, 2015, 05:09:40 PM
don't think many people are dumb enough to sign up there and deposit bitcoins.
these sites are junk. if you want to invest in bitcoin, buy bitcoin from a trusted exchange and hold it.
4098  Economy / Speculation / Re: When? on: April 02, 2015, 12:49:08 PM
if we knew when it will rise and go down then we would make so much money.
people can guess as much as they want, but no one knows exactly what will happen.
just make sure you bought in before the price goes up.
4099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have a feeling BTC has slowed down a bit? on: April 02, 2015, 12:45:49 PM
BTC has slowed down alot... But I cannot understand why, more and more big tech company's adopt it, more and more transactions everyday....

https://blockchain.info/nl/charts/n-transactions?timespan=all&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=

bitcoin is more secure and used by merchants than it ever was. no problem here.
people look at the price which isn't doing much and say that bitcoin is going backwards and so on.
4100  Other / Meta / Re: What is happened to the forum? on: April 02, 2015, 12:42:29 PM
i couldn't get access to bitcointalk since yesterday. finally it's back but i hope it stays online now.
if it is a ddos attack what's the purpose of that attack beside getting the site offline? stealing data?
