4081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you hide your identity with bitcoin? (100%) on: July 06, 2020, 05:33:42 AM
Bitcoin is pseudonymous every transaction made, is transparent in Blockchain network that can be seen by anyone just by searching the address from there you can see where funds was sent. And yes, nodes can reveal IP addresses but not accurately.
One thing your friend forgotten is mixer that mix your every transaction to other user and sending to multiple different address, it might be a solution but not 100% guaranteed
I think that bitcoin is anonymous as long as the other party does not know how to do an IP trace, the degree of protection that bitcoin offers in my opinion is enough to prevent low lifes from using it as a front for illegal activities and on the other hand, the privacy of the user is guaranteed as long as there is no questionable actions done in that address.
4082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin soon will become a boring investment? on: July 06, 2020, 04:54:04 AM
I don't know how and why you consider it as a boring investment if everyone will own bitcoin. Also, how can this become a threat to the market value? Just because the price of bitcoin is so slow to increase doesn't mean that the main cause is it becomes a common investment, there are so many reason but this is mainly not because of the reason you have said.
Maybe OP meant boring in a way that bitcoin does not feature new things real fast, I might be wrong though. Bitcoin offers so many things and with its further use, innovations are integrating bitcoin in their technology and I do not think that can be a boring thing because that is a stepping stone for the further advancement of bitcoin and blockchain technology.
4083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earn and save in Satoshi on: July 06, 2020, 04:12:00 AM
Yes, most people just give up after the first try and that is why they never become successful. Success is not supposed to be easy or else it wouldn't be much of success, would it? The more difficult something is the more difficult it is for others to follow and do the same. If you are very good at something very rare then you will always have work and success because it is very difficult to copy. Becoming successful is something very few do. If just anyone could copy the success then the success would be worthless.
The problem with these people who give up is that most of them are desperste and they see bitcoin as a shortcut instead of a bridge to financial stability, OP's word of encouragement does not need to stop there, we might as well slap them with the truth because they need to get their game serious, they all think that this is a temporary fad but in reality there is more to it than that.
4084  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of the fake Elon Musk bitcoin giveaway on: July 06, 2020, 02:51:23 AM
Where is the link though? And just what others have said, Elon Musk has been used by scammers to make this fake BTC/ETH giveaway. But it's good that the community is actively reporting this kind of stuff around so that newbies won't fall for this trick.

@grolsch - noobs fall for this trick because of their greed and think that they can make free money here.
That is a wonderful thing about crypto community, I like that they watch out for each other when scammers are rife, if you are to encounter this kind of give away scam then you should consider this questions.

Why would Elon Musk give back to the community that will only affect a few select individual?
What are the comments that are present in the giveaway (It is important to check the online chats because they give clue)?

Remember that there is no quick buck in cryptocurrency so you better use your common sense and judgment when someone is offering you something that is too good to be true which sometimes is.
4085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Serious question about Bitcoin. Is it a reliable and stable investment? on: July 05, 2020, 07:41:41 AM
It's an old thread guys. If he was considering an investment a year ago he either did it or not. There's no point in giving him advice now.

I think that it's a good investment but any newbie can see that it isn't stable. Wink
This topic should have been locked in the first place if the OP have finally decided whether they should invest. I agree that it is a good investment but I do think that does not make it a safe haven, if you are a newbie, my advice to you is to diversify your portfolio so when something experience a down time then you will not be panicking because you know that you still have other investments that are making a constant cash flow for you.
4086  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New US Bill would require makers of encrypted devices to leave a backdoor on: July 05, 2020, 05:53:59 AM
Are a lot of terrorist organisations not advanced enough to know what's best to use for security... Also if this goes through I doubt companies are going to make separate versions without back doors... (perhaps this could incentivise Asia to produce different devices or Europe/australasia to start producing better secure devices that don't have random holes for the US government).
Just because they are not advanced enough does not mean that there will be people who will be exploiting this backdoor, remember that there are people that will get curious and once they discover this backdoor meant either they tell it to someone and the word of mouth goes on or they post it in the Internet either through written post or video, either way it will reach the malicious intent people. True privacy is what we should be aiming for and not those compromised one.
4087  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why has not any government stopped Bitcoin? on: July 05, 2020, 04:22:51 AM
The only thing I think the government can do is to regulate bitcoin, but putting a ban on it totally, it's impossible. The world is moving away from analog into a digital world era and cryptocurrency is leading way for that. Inasmuch you can say, the most secure and fastest way to actualize digital era is to adopt blockchain globally without further delays and sentiment's from the government bodies.
The regulation is the best compromise a country can do to get on the good side of bitcoin, we may never know what are the authority's ulterior motive but that is an assurance that bitcoin holder are safe within the confines of the country. The only thing that a government that can get when they ban bitcoin and other cryptocurrency altogether is a growing hate and disdain from their people and as a wise and smart politician, I would rather get on the good side of things.
4088  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS seeks info on tracing privacy coins, LN transactions for pilot program on: July 04, 2020, 07:58:28 AM
Actually I think the it's looking into tracking this means law enforcement/communications detectives have probably already looked into it? They probably won't release tools anywhere other than interpol (if that) but it's probably safe to assume it isn't too hard for law enforcement to track something like this, as a difference, they'll have to keep tracking EVERYONE in order to store the required information of whos transacting with whom...
The problem with this tracking feature is that it violates privacy. This kind of thing is a double edged sword because they can be use for exploitation purposes, I really believe that when this kind of power comes in the wrong hands it makes things complicated, on the other hand we can use this to prevent money laundering and funding of terrorist activities which is the greater good, in my opinion, having to sacrifice something for something better is not good at all.
4089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN TRUST PROBLEMS: Bitcoin Investers will want to know about this risk... on: July 04, 2020, 07:20:05 AM
I don't see any hard facts here other than your name. It's just opinions from anti-bitcoin believers who think bitcoin is not worth it.
Why would it matter though ? People will still be holding bitcoin no matter what Peter has to say about it for they know this guy has been speaking ill about bitcoin since the beginning. Besides that, everybody has an opinion but that doesn't make it into a reality.
The fact that OP segregates people who watches and does not the youtube link is an indication that it might be all BS. I do not like that people are using degrading things to gather some clout. Besides why make a video about the same risks that has been discussed ever since the inception of bitcoin and cryptocurrency, wouldn't that be redundant?
4090  Other / Archival / Re: Bank of Japan has announced it will begin experimenting with a digital currency. on: July 04, 2020, 06:39:35 AM
Yes, it is great to see that countries like Japan are stepping up when it comes to a higher technology of transactions.
But we need to remember it is not Bitcoin which will be on the front. It is still their own currency just digitized.
The fact that they are experimenting whether there is a feasibility in using cryptocurrency in Japan is a good thing because this country is gettingleft behind by many countries in regards to technological advancement, remember when Japan is the pinnacle of technology, with their current status they are on a plateau and I am really happy that they are going to test new technology.
4091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what way you’ll inherit Bitcoin to your loved ones? on: July 04, 2020, 03:53:45 AM
3 - Google Drive, Docs or Sheets
By using this one, all the information of my wallet was saved in my google drive, since there is someone from my family who knows my account. I already discussed this because I also think the same thing before. Luckily, I have someone who I can really put my trust that's why I am confident to trust my google drive to her.
This is feasible but I do not think that this is the most optimal way of safekeeping your crypto details, you can put it in your will and testament when you want, it is not that you do not trust your family member but they might slip and accidentally show it to other people and it will be regarded with malicious interest.
4092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend passed away and he have Bitcoin in his wallet on: July 04, 2020, 03:03:59 AM
If you tell them about it then please consider some things before doing so, first is they are technologically challenged as you said and they might not know what to do which means that they might be a target for oppurtunistic scumbags to take all the coins for themselves, if you can, you might as well go there and help them yourself. The friend you mention might not be trustworthy all along so that can be a factor, it really is a good thing that you should tell them about that coin but on the other hand greed can manifest and amplify someones desire.
4093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank of America now treats BTC and ETH as Cash on: July 04, 2020, 02:06:28 AM
You should've probably read the comments at the reddit post itself, or at least did a bit of research. A milestone move? More like banks just wanting to milk cash out of people more. There would be no doubt insane amount of transaction fees to be asked, much so that you'd actually question yourself that why am I even buying BTC through this way?. On another hand, even if we do consider BoA accepting crypto due to this, with how they are not really releasing any official statement, it may as well not exist imo. It's like their walking right at the border, so they can change positions quickly enough to prevent any damage caused by either believing or not in crypto.
If the banks are going to do it then they will never get to the good side of cryptocurrency, there should be a compromise between the banks and crypto holders because whenever the other demands more then the other wouldn't budge. The news might be a fake one plus it came from reddit so there is a chance that it is fake or not.
4094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yes, there is a strip club that accepts bitcoin. on: July 02, 2020, 06:22:15 AM
Buying your flight tickets with Bitcoin to eventually get laid with Bitcoin. Lets hope that this becomes a common thing everywhere in the world. It´s just hard to put a digital currency in a strippers underwear....
They might have their QR codes in their panties, I never heard of this kind of place though, maybe this is deemed illegal by authorities because they are trying to do business and avoid taxes.
4095  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Fraud on: July 02, 2020, 03:39:12 AM
You posted a thread June 30, 2020, 02:50:08 PM and here is the Title: Trying to recover funds from bitcoin scam.

Now 9 hours after, you posted yet another thread again regarding the same matter?? Don't expect too much here and better report it to the authorities there. Maybe there are some that might help you but not to the extend that they will do a way to get your money back because once you gave your money to a scammer, it will not go back to you ever. And please don't create multiple threads regarding your problem because it will not help you at all. One thread is enough already.
Reporting the incident is the best course of action, I feel bad for your loss but at the same time this should serve as a lesson to you, the forum is here for advice but not everyone has the time to help you out but the good thing is that you are creating awareness.
4096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trying to recover funds from bitcoin scam on: July 01, 2020, 06:01:53 AM
The amount they are asking for you to recover the funds stolen is more than your funds so that makes sense that it is a scam and I can think of reasons why you should not fall for that but the obvious is right there so make sure to do your part and report these scumbags, I am sorry for the funds that you lost and hope that you will not lose your faith in crypto because everyone can start over.
4097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Undo button for transactions on: July 01, 2020, 05:19:43 AM
I would rather do it manually than just pressing the "Undo" button. It only takes a short while to manually verify everything.

What I am doing is that on my desktop and mobile device when sending Bitcoin, I usually spend time looking at the first and last letters/numbers to see if they are a match or not.

I always double or triple check before sending Bitcoin, Ethereum or any other tokens.
Not everyone is like you, mistakes will surely be made. I get that the OP worries that there might be things that will go south when this feature becomes prevalent, I have seen this kind of features in games that lets you scam people scot free of their wrongdoing, this feature is a double edged sword and that worries me the most because if there are people who makes mistake then there is surely people who will have a malicious intent.
4098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How the wallet is hacked, what should I do? on: July 01, 2020, 04:10:03 AM
Aside from OP's list,
Don't let other people know your wallet keys and never used another laptop/PC which you are not in control with when accessing your account.
Some cases may happen in accessing your account in computer shops have left unattended or not even close properly giving a chance for the owner/controller of the shop to trace what you are doing, and that possible they can access your account without any permission.

If we are wanting to keep safe all the time, we should also be careful in accessing our wallet. And as I said, better to have your own controlled PC (if we have nothing) rather than to compromise it.
Better yet is not to let people know that you are dealing with cryptocurrency in the first place, what I mean by that is that keep it your secret even to your closest people because once you tell them that then the domino effect starts, words will slip in their mouth even though they do not have a malicious intent and the word will pass on until it reaches someone with intent, you could've prevented it if you keep it to yourself in the first place. The reason that this schemes works is sometimes the perpetrator is an acquaintance of the victim (I do not know the statistics but most crimes show the same commonality).
4099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is More Popular Than Traditional Banks on: June 30, 2020, 08:28:09 AM
Bitcoin become so prominent all over the world, we have so many users of bitcoin but I don't think that it is more popular than the traditional banks, there are so many people who still don't know things bout crypto world and they still keep on using the traditional banks, cryptocurrency is just alternative for fiat currency so, and fist currency is the standard currency that is in the traditional banks.

If you are going to compare between two, I think bitcoin is safer and faster transaction compared to traditional banks because it happens online, in terms of security you should use a hardware wallet to avoid attacks from hackers. An online wallet is not advisable for me because it is really prone to attacks.
I think the big reason that people are trusting people bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general more than banking institution is the fact that the latter has so many bureaucracy behind which means more paperwork, we also should mention that the bank has a very old fashion system and the only progressing system is their security, with more people being more open minded to oppurtunities meant that the ignorance that has been plaguing our generation is being slowly dispelled, if banking institution wants to survive the modern times then they should up their game because they are falling behind when it comes to progress, that also applies to our respective government.
4100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What was your experience trading cryptocurrency? on: June 30, 2020, 07:34:29 AM
For experience in cryptocurrency trading, I have traded this coins and find out how volatile these coins could be, to avoid this loses, you as a trader must develop a strategy to trade positive. Although the first time I traded was a laughing stocks because I lost all my trades. But getting the needed tutorials from good traders made me up to were I am today. Now, I can trade cryptocurrency for gains and am into daily trading of cryptocurrency.
I am happy for you because that is such a humble story, from noobie to a pro is what people needs to see because many gets discouraged after they fail at their first try, I really do believe that without experiencing loss, you will not appreciate reaping the profits.
