421  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is being used as a backlink source on: December 28, 2020, 08:42:39 AM
I have 2 thoughts,
1. Add nofollow for URL on user post (already suggested previously at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=714344.msg8068820#msg8068820). I doubt it hurts regular user.
2. Disable url tag for newbie which force them to use plain text. It's a bit annoying for those who want open the link though.
This is the best option to contain this.
If url tag is disabled, it will also be easy to know what url they have posted without clicking on it.
Some vigilant members can always report it if the posted link is dubious.
422  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The Pharmacist scammed me on: December 27, 2020, 08:06:19 AM
Op is naive. He used telegram to make a trade without first asking Pharmacist if he is okay with it.
Plus it is a fact that telegram usernames can be faked.
There is no solid evidence against pharmacist in this accusation.
423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Major differences between Bitcoin rally 2017 and 2020 on: December 26, 2020, 08:18:20 PM
As Bitcoin bullrun continues there are some differences between 2017 and today.
1. Whales bitcoin addresses keep growing and balances are not shrinking that means more holders, in 2017 there were more whales sellers.
2. Much more institutional investors are flowing into bitcoin.
3. There was a dominance of Asian investors and money in 2017 and now with PayPal, CME, Square more money is coming from America.
4. As TA guys may notice price action of Bitcoin rally 2020 looks more technically prdeictable than in 2017.

What differences did you notice?
You missed one more important reason and that is the pandemic.
Yes covid-19 is also some how responsible for this BTC price hike.
Now traditional investors looking for some other non traditional investment fields and they are now exploring digital currency.
424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New ATH, New ATH, New ATH on: December 26, 2020, 08:15:44 PM
We have crossed $25k and it’s another ATH? Well, it’s not anymore when we broke the 2017 ATH. I don't have the feel before that as I was not much involved with bitcoin before 2018.
Everyday, we see ATH now but I don't think it feels like the one which take a lot of days.
How do you feel exactly when you see new ATH each time and how do you feel when you see ATH broken after long break.
Every time I see new BTC ATH, I started cursing myself for selling lots of BTC in the past. I wish I were still holding them but I had no choice due to my financial problems.
Now I can only hope some alts that I am holding also reach their new ATH.

Hi, which wallet is suggested for holding KMD.

Many Wallets

Ledger Wallet / AtomicDex / Guarda Wallet / AtomicWallet / Coinomi Wallet / Zencore Wallet

alright cool, saw there are some kind of lite walletsd and wallets where we need to download the full blockchain.
If i want to use an lite wallet can i still claim the rewards for holding?

Yes, but not on coinomi Wallet

Alright cool, going check out which wallet fits the best for me.

If I remember correctly, komodo have their native wallet. It was available for Windows. If that still works and is available for your device, go for it. You will also get staking rewards if you hold your kmd there.

more about The Pastel Network...

So what is The Pastel Network about?

At Pastel we follow a simple motto;
Provably unique, valuably rare.
Digital art on the Blockchain.

Pastel is a new world for creators and lovers of art. A novel platform powered by a secure blockchain, where artists can publish and collectors can purchase rare digital art like never before.

So who is The Pastel Network for?

The Pastel network is all about creating the infrastructure for Art for the future
Pastel is a new world for creators and lovers of art. A novel platform powered by a secure blockchain, where artists can publish and collectors can purchase rare digital art like never before.

For Artists
Finally, a way to monetize your digital artwork while protecting your work against digital piracy. Direct sales remove commission and fees without needing to trust a 3rd party.

For Collectors
Pastel opens an entirely new financial platform for those who want to purchase digital artwork as an investment or to support a particular artist and benefit as the artist becomes more popular.

For Investors
PSL is a  cryptocurrency token, allowing any digital art work to be collected and traded with ease. A currency with a genuine use case, bridging the gap between real and virtual worlds.

So why is Pastel needed?

Our protocol and innovative use of blockchain technology and tokenisation, solves industry wide problems faced by both artists and collectors.

Ease of duplication

Talent doesn't always find its way in the art world, where artists are often left to attempt crowdfunding, with little to no value past on to those financially backing creations.

Lack of digital provenance

Provenance, or the history of a piece of art, has a significant part to play in not only the financial value but the sentiment that contributes to making it desirable within the art community. This has proved to a be a significant problem for the world of digital art.

Expensive 3rd parties

Every step of creating, selling, owning and trading artwork comes with additional costs, from commissions to storage and transport, costs that are felt by both the artist and the purchaser.

Lack of launch platform

Talent doesn't always find its way in the art world, where artists are often left to attempt crowdfunding, with little to no value past on to those financially backing creations.

What are the salient features of the Pastel platform?

Proven Ownership

Ownership of all unique or limited run digital artwork is backed by, and intrinsically linked to, our cryptocurrency PSL, allowing you to invest, trade, profit and even distribute shares of your digital assets, a first for the art world. Counterfeiting is prevented and digital files become provably rare in a way never before seen in the world of Digital Art.

Tradable Assets

Just like the physical art world has auction houses, Pastel provides a platform for owners of limited edition or unique artwork to sell their assets in a virtual auction environment. As a crypto asset, trades and sales are effortlessly managed through your Pastel Wallet.

Proven Authenticity

Pastel is backed by our unique protocol, based on Blockchain technology, ensuring that your art assets are provably authentic forever, whilst a distributed ledger removes the need for trusting a 3rd party. You buy and sell directly from the existing authenticated owner and the new buyer respectively.

427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Merchants Now Accepting Bitcoin on: December 24, 2020, 08:11:07 PM

There are now many merchants big, small and those in between which are now accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in their business. With the help of third-party applications, they are able to integrate Bitcoin option with their infrastructure. Here are some in the list as provided by payments startup Flexa:

Barnes & Noble, Baskin Robbins, Bed Bath & Beyond, Caribou Coffee, Crate & Barrel, Express, GameStop, Jamba Juice, Lowe’s, Nordstrom, Office Depot & OfficeMax, Petco, Regal Cinemas, Ulta Beauty and Amazon-owned Whole Foods Market and of course Starbucks

Source is here.

The names are the who's who in their respective industries. Now, we are all hoping that soon more and more big names will be coming on board so as to boost Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency club. I know that we are still far cry from mainstream adoption but we can get there one merchant at a time. Soon if this whole thing can be sailing smoothly, there can be an avalanche of support from the business community.
These are certainly big merchants but they do not have mass reach.
We need ebay, Amazon and other merchants that are well known to general public to accept Bitcoin.
Once that happens, BTC will be adopted by mass.
428  Local / India / Re: What are best practices when trading P2P? on: December 24, 2020, 08:08:19 PM
Guys is there a way to stay anonymous and do p2p trading?
Most p2p exchange make it compulsory to do kyc after we have traded a certain amount. Is there any exchange that allow non kyc users also to do any amount of trading?
429  Local / India / Re: Third party withdrawal on: December 23, 2020, 09:16:32 PM
Can anyone list the name of the exchanges that allow to withdraw INR to friends/relatives account without asking for additional kyc?
Use paytm or phonepe on localbitcoin and you can withdraw to anyone account.
Just send buyer details of your friends or family members in whose account you want to withdraw. As simple as that buddy Smiley
430  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Are You Afraid of KYC? on: December 23, 2020, 09:10:40 PM

I can see that soon almost exchanges and even ICO programs will be requiring us to do the KYC procedures where we are required to pass copies of our legal documents before we are granted entrance or the use of the services or programs we are interested with. This can be as common as having a password or 2FA.

Now, personally I have no big problem with it though just like anybody else am also concerned that my personal information can be divulged to anybody or a group that might use it for any illegal purpose. This is one risk we are facing once we are actively living in the online world. Evil people who can be thousands of miles away can now be just one click away.

What are your apprehensions about the KYC procedures that will soon be as popular as noodles?
Yes I am not comfortable with kyc. It also defeat the very purpose of cryptocurrency because it doesn't makes it anonymous.
That's why I prefer dex over cex but unfortunately dex exchanges have low liquidity.
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spend or HODL Bitcoin during COVID-19? on: December 23, 2020, 09:08:15 PM
It seems that during these times of turmoil, Bitcoin's prices are increasing at a slow and steady rate. Since the mainstream economy has been on a downfall, people have been resorting to Bitcoin as a store of value. This gives Bitcoin "hodlers" greater spending power than before in terms of Fiat. You can now buy more things with Bitcoin than you did before COVID-19.

What would be the right thing to do during COVID-19? Should I spend Bitcoin or should I just "HODL" it? The more Bitcoin's prices increase on the market, the more tempting it is to spend one's Bitcoin holdings. But at the same time, you want to "HODL" your Bitcoin for the next ATH in price. What would you do?

Any advice, recommendations, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
I don't think BTC price has anything to do with covid lockdown and economic slowdown.
BTC has attracted attention of many institutional buyers and that is what will keep pushing BTC price.
If it were not for covid, BTC would already be @$50k.
432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Money laundering via BTC on: December 23, 2020, 07:36:25 AM
Hi guys ! My name’s Dave.
ข่าวกีฬา
Is it possible to do money laundering via bitcoin? I mean as no one knows if you have bitcoin and how much bitcoin do you actually own, it could be used to convert black money to white right? Or at least store your black money without much hassle. But there is the risk of its value but I think for people who have lots of black money and don't want to be caught, this risk might be worth taking for them isn't it?
What are your thoughts?
It doesn't matter how  and in what form you keep your black money in (digital or fiat). Once you decide you spend them, you will always be caught by law enforcing agencies if your expenditure is more than your declared income.
