Another suggestion: Make full client act as light client until the blockchain is fully downloaded.
And this leads to another suggestion: Universal server should be made to allow several light clients to connect. Maybe you should talk with devs of electrum about this. Or even better - allow the full client to act as server for light clients if blockchain is up to date.
Possible GUI improvements: Icons in 0.5.X client seems not to be in correct size (or has been resized from larger PNG images). It is detail, but it looks terrible. Also the red/yellow color of connections indicator always looks like there is something wrong even when I have >30 connections opened.
I also think that online wallets are fine, but we should not advice new users to use them. The danger of online wallets is similar to using credit card online. Trusted wallet provider can change the situation (like PayPal for bitcoins), but we do not want to make the same mistakes over and over again, do we?

You are not alone! Fully agree with first 2 screenshots. I hate the space wasting.

Correct certificate for me. StartCom, same date... Check your phone and network. Try another device on same network or same device on different network. Have you installed some bitcoin related SW from market?

I agree with some points in first post. 1) There is huge space waste in list of transactions and addresses. 2/3 of the line height would be fine. 2) I don't know about windows client, but on Ubuntu the sharp-edge boxes on overview page seems almost like a UI bug. (most visible using elementary gtk theme) 3) And I also don't like the splash screen. Unfortunately I am not able to do anything about 1st and 2nd point, but here are some mockups of splash screen: http://deafboy.cicolina.org/igelitka/btc-logo/I was trying to find this topic yesterday without luck so I have posted it in older thread related to splash screen.

So... Things has changed, and we have a splash screen in 0.5.X in unofficial PPA. Not so well looking splash screen in my opinion. I just leave this here: http://deafboy.cicolina.org/igelitka/btc-logo/Feel free to edit and use. (.xcf files inside 7z archive)

Out of everyone reading this who has actually made any alternate sleep schedule work for over a month? Since I have started to work on day/night 12 hours long shifts, I feel great and fresh all night but sleepy and sick at day. When I have free week, My bio-rhythm is scheduled vampire-like naturally. 2 years. Does it count?

SaintFlow, are you really from Bratislava? I did not expect to see someone from Slovakia to be active on this forum. And I also have to tell you that your English is... strange.

I would love to see official client to act like server for light clients like this one.

As I claimed - not directly, for security and legal reasons.
I understand that it's not practical to carry all the gold bars at home and sendig them via post office, but I am also not aware of any legal reasons preventing you from doing that in cz? Can you describe those "legal reasons" more? The largest issue becomes "friction" and "trust". If miner cash out often & quickly they don't have to trust the pool BUT then coinage overhead and shipping overhead eats into the yield.
Also I trust YOU enough to let you carry my mined bitcoins (or gold bars) until it's value exceeed some defined treshold, but trust some 3rd party US based company to send me gold over the ocean... that's completely defferent story
|
|
|
Mining for gold bars? This sounds wonderfull as optional feature! As someone mentioned before, mined BTCs should not be exchanged directly for other currencies / comodities and should be spent in shop like any other currency instead, but this option is irresistible for me. Too cool to be true
