Are they running xp 64 bit? If not, odds are you'll have an hard time setting them up: some miners are 64 bit only. If they are 2600 Mhz from the xp-contemporary generation... they could be pentium4s for what we know. I wouldn't even bother setting up those!

Cool! But... what's the deal with the old CPUs? I hardly believe I'll be able to cover even one fourth of my electricity with my Athlon X3.

As a side note, new kernels for Groestl-MYR are in the works here for a while. They were supposed to be released by the half of this month but due to hardware failure, they will likely be pushed over.

My theory on the GPU miner is, that someone that would be motivated enough to have develop the gpu miner config, would probably have a lot more hash coming towards the pool. Nice theory but in practice you can find a few guys... even on this own forum... able to write a miner but with limited hardware. Besides, it is relatively easy to spread the hashes to multiple pools if needed, a thing I would do if I had to GPU-port this algo. Following for developments.

I sure hope so (for him), but "noisy mining rig" seems more akin to something GPU based.
Are ASICs usually referred as "mining rigs"? It was my understanding that terminology is for computers.

Hey,
I recently bought a script mining rig... Waitwaitwait... you have been sold a computer ... with graphics cards? A standard computer? Scrypt mining on "normal" computers is dead. Did the guy told you? How much did you pay for it? Odds are the fans are worn out. Maybe you could try changing them but in general hi-end cards are just noisy. If your card is say a 290x or a 290... there's little you can do. Those are noisy and will stay noisy. Also try different algos, they tend to produce less heat.

Explain me this worksize 48 thing. I'm very surprised. AMD Radeon has native hardware work size 64, wsize 48 implies 25% performance trashed... is this supposed to happen?

Try a program called "MalwareBytes".
Some routers are vulnerable to certain hacks. I had a hacked router some months ago, it changed my DNS to a Singapore server and I'm fairly sure it redirected several sites to force me download infected files. Try hitting google for known vulnerabilities for your router.
If you can connect by cable, try the following: disable wifi and run a program called "wireshark". If you suspect some traffic is not yours, wireshark will report... unless the program goes silent as it cannot find any wifi. Maybe ask some friend if they cane give you an access point for a few days.
Consider Windows Update can download hundred of megs with ease... the last few updates didn't seem to be so big to me but I clearly wasn't paying attention.

Same here. I suspect the card might be getting very confused... there are plenty of wrong things in the CL code being run. Following to find a solution.

Poramin, how are you? I've read you had some real-life issues. Will you be able to devote major effort to VTC now?

Thank you but SIMD_16 is a huge bet and I'm not sure it's worth it at all (over 8-way)! I'd have to work on it. Sometime in the future.

It is ironic that you mention pump and dump since I see Bitcoin as being speculated as hell in the past months. But BTC is not just a speculative tool. It is a viable alternative to legacy value transfer methods. Yes, there are speculative positions on BTC just like any other bubble.

I shall merely mention, that the MSI HD 7790 simply stops cooler at work on qubit @ ~ 1.8 Мн/s I do qubit 1700khs on a 7750 stock (55C @ 40% fan) so I'm not very sure this is best from a performance-per-hash standpoint.

100% agreed OP. There's little we can do but trying to be informative, for those who wants to listen.
Even today, people get excited because of "improved mixing"! Excuse me if I'd go Stealth Addresses or Ring Signatures rather than improving something which I consider obsolete at this point.
Sadly, Pump n Dump brings people money (not all necessarily the original scammers) so there are true and (debatably) legit interests in using those trading tools.

Altcoins. Succeeding.
I'm not quite on it.
A trader I'm in contact with does not seem very worried from BTC centralization. It's just a faster, more efficient SWIFT to him. I wonder if BTC will "fail" in the future but I see it in use for a long time for now.

We need lyra2_calculator-edition. You forgot the </sarcasm> tag

I'm using 14.9 - I think it has the OpenCL 2.0 beta, I should try that shit.
How does it work out for you? Fine; looking through the OpenCL 2.0 specs for some good shit to use. Be careful. Relevant.

No way! I need to walk the dog.

And when is gonna to be implemented?
Derive appropriate initial memory and cpu levels to roughly match the current level (8/15/2014) Implement the new algo in all the wallets including mobile (10/15/2014) Run final testing on testnet (11/15/2014) Final release to mainnet (11/30/2014)

Where can I find performance data for Wild Kekkak? Some other coins use google spreadsheet for this. I've been positively impressed with the usability.
