It looks like we are likely to have a more exciting race in Canada after leaving the boring ones in Imola and Monaco behind.  But I must admit I'm very happy to see Leclerc winning a home Grand Prix for the first time in his career - and winning a race after 2 years.  The current driver standings look quite interesting though. Verstappen - 169 points, Leclerc 138 points. Do you think Leclerc can bring a big rivalry to Verstappen this season?  To me, it still looks really difficult. It feels like Verstappen will pull away from everyone at one point. But for now it is a great joy to see this competition between. Additionally, I have read some news like Ferrari doesn't want Adrian Newey anymore. Are they out of their mind?  |

The Conference League final between Olympiacos and Fiorentina... who would have thought that Oly would go as far when we take into consideration their poor performance (mostly) in the Greek Super League.
This is a VERY big game for Olympiacos and a VERY big game for Greek football in general with Olympiakos having the chance to win the cup and make it happen on Greek land - the final is played in Athens and to be precise, in AEK`s Agia Sophia arena.
Honestly, and I am saying that even though I am anything but an Olympiacos supporter, Fiorentina is not an opponent to be scared of. I don`t see how Olympiakos would miss this chance and I think they`ll write history today. For me, Oly to win the Conference League is a value bet and I will gladly take it. On Stake for example you can still get 2.13 and that`s good enough for me.
I never thought it would happen truthfully. I was even doubting them against Fenerbahçe already. I didn't like Olympiacos' performance there also but after that we started to watch a different team. I really wonder what their manager said to his players. Because since then the team have been playing fearlessly and very productive also. Keep an eye on Ayoub El Kaabi tonight, 10 goals in 8 matches in the CL so far. Impressive! After seeing the way they defeated Aston Villa I don't think they need to fear Fiorentina either. If I read the reports correctly, the club and Pochettino mutually ended their association. The players made it clear they were angry because they wanted Pochettino to stay but he wanted to select the players to buy and sell and that was something the board (and the Sporting Director) wanted to control and leave the manager at their mercy.
Yeah, Pochettino was ready to accept his fate on his future so it must be a mutual agreement. I understand the players, I think the same as them. I think Pochettino didn't demand an unreasonable thing in fact. It would have been better to do so too. Because I believe mostly managers know much more about what kind of players would be more useful. Boehly purchased Chelsea for more than it was worth and then made money available to buy a lot of players at expensive rates. The fact it has not worked out for them is not really his fault but fans of almost every team in the Premier League would love to have an owner like Boehly because he splashes the cash to buy players that he thinks will be beneficial to the club.
I agree, every fan would like to have a rich chairman. But spending the money wisely is always important. For example I believe Mudryk has turn out to be a flop so far despite spending around £90m for his fee. In my opinion, bringing in Xavi would be a very bad idea. He did well in his first season as manager at Barcelona exceeding expectations but during his second season (this season) he has failed miserably as their rivals Real Madrid dominated.
Chelsea are on the verge of getting the go-ahead for their new stadium and when it will be completed it will increase their home supporters by thousands. They need stability as they edge their way back to being serious contenders for a top four finish and even challenge for the Premier League title again and with that in mind they cannot even consider Xavi, he is not suited to Chelsea.
Maybe you would turn out to be right about Xavi. However currently there are other candidates also such as Enzo Maresca and it is even said they are close to an agreement with him. As they are said to be in search of a "dynamic manager" it doesn't look like they will go for more experienced managers. |

We have another change of manager for Ajax by the end of June... Farioli has been signed for next season. He is starting his job at Ajax by July 1.  This is literally 5th manager Ajax have had in the last year. It is really crazy you know. This isn't a healthy way to recover. I always say that because you need to give your manager a proper time to improve the team. If you give them only one season or even a shorter time then it is harder for you to rise in the standings. I won't be surprised if they act unfair to Farioli also. |

I have to say that I really did not expect this City looked like they were on holiday - a really bad individual performances from a lot of their players. Guardiola with only 1 trophy at the end of the season - tells you all you need to know about the competitiveness of the Premier League. I'm so pissed we lost to this United - we should have won it before extra time. I wanted one last final under Klopp. Counter-attacking oriented game and parking the bus were enough factors for the Red Devils to get to the trophy. Congrats to them!  Most people weren't expecting such result. Manchester City players really looked like they finished the season in their heads already. The euphoria of victory in the PL had bad reflections on the FA Cup. Anyway I was glad to see the Red Devils achieving something before the season ended. It might be some help for ten Hag to stay maybe. But Allegri also got sacked after achieving a Coppa Italia trophy this season, so who knows... |

On Sundays usually when nothing happens leader can go at 80% of speed since nobody can pass and save the tires as much he can, degradaging tires of opponents and get a big advantage in this way.
I hate this track.
This track should be allowed to make some changes on it to make it more interesting to watch. Otherwise it is going to stay as one of the most boring Grand Prix in the calendar.  Only qualifying and pits are exciting to watch. Is there any part of the track to make an attempt for an overtake? The only parts I can say are the start straight - which isn't much long - and maybe the tunnel exit if the drivers are too close to each other. Ambitious drivers such as Verstappen like to push their luck there. |

By the way what do you think on Todd Boehly's deciding to part ways with Pochettino? I couldn't find it reasonable at all truthfully. Because it was only Pochettino's first season. Furthermore, there was a great improvement in the results in the PL lately. Was this really needed anyway? Maybe giving him a 2nd chance would be helpful to maintain the current chemistry? I don't like Boehly as a chairman. Maybe he might be a good businessman, I don't know. However football isn't one of the things he is good at managing. Still hope to see Chelsea finding its way somehow. Lastly Chelsea is interested in bringing Xavi for the job. |

I agree with you. Becoming Brazil coach will provide a new challenge for Ancelotti but as you said I think Ancelotti is too old to build a team again. Currently Brazil is in decline and it will take years for Ancelotti to rebuild the national team.
I hope Ancelotti will be like Klopp where he will retire with Real Madrid. It would be an incredible historical moment for Madrid fans. Ancelotti has given his best to Real Madrid. I can't imagine if he retired at another club. I am sure Ancelotti will get the highest respect from Real Madrid. Hopefully there will be no conflict between Don Carlo and club officials.
Ancelotti was actually linked with Brazil job quite much in the past. However his extending his contract with Real Madrid ended the discussions. Currently his contract there expires 2 years later. After that maybe he might want to look for some new adventures. But it is really hard to be confident about it. I agree. He is in his 30th year of his manager career. Considering he had a 13-year player career before also, it is a huge time period of business life. He is an incredible manager otherwise but I think he will end his career without managing a national team. |

They are terrible at especially defending and Manchester City are having very productive days lately. England is actually in a tougher group. In Group C, they need to face Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia. All three are strong teams and Serbia is in top form right now. On the other hand, in Group D, France has Netherlands, Poland and Austria as the opponents. I don't think that they will be too bothered during group phase. Especially with Netherlands, who are on the decline for some time.
Is this a tougher group for England you think? I think differently truthfully mate. The qualification phase shouldn't mislead you. Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia all had really easy opponents in their groups. Normally I don't think they can hold off England. I would only give Denmark a chance on that. Because their squad are more capable. France are likely to have a bigger challenge to face. Austria are in great shape lately. We have seen it even in recent friendlies. Poland are a mess but Netherlands are stronger. At least much stronger than England's opponents in Group C. |
