I think the Super Eagles will make us start counting points if they'd qualify from the group stage. Next game would be against the host nation and I don't see that encounter going down that easy for the Eagles, the host wouldn't want to drop points in that group. With how have seen the Eagles play I don't see them topping that group that's if they continue with the way they played against Equatorial Guinea, some would say is just one game but 1 game and 3 point can cost a team to qualify from the group stage, so Ivory Coast are going to do anything possible to win that game against the Eagles.
Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper stood out in this match. Unfortunately, the Super Eagles of Nigeria had a subpar performance. It's disheartening to witness a strong team like Nigeria struggle against weaker opponents. I hope they improve as the tournament continues, but based on their current performance, my confidence is low. Nigeria played well but missed some crucial chances that proved costly. It is difficult for Manchester United to level the deal of Benzema given by Al Ittihad. Ghanaians would have bantered Nigerians if Nigeria had lost their game to Eq Guinea. They ended up loosing their own game against Cape Verde who would have been underrated before the game, but to me played better yesterday in their game than even Ghana who were the expected team to win. The team representing Cape Verde, have many confident players who if they continue can do very well in this competition. Egypt on their side completed the trio of big teams expected to win their first games that did not meet up, that is Nigeria, Ghana and Egypt. More pressure will be on the teams to win their second games. From my point of view with matches all the matches played so far by the top teams it obvious that the so-called minnow in football countries had started to up their game it is not business as usual when they are usually thrashed by big countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt etc and from the look of things this edition of AFCON upset would be created where some of the top footballing nations would crash out in the group qualifying stage, Nigeria next match is against a Formidable and host Ivory coast a lost would probably put the team at risk, same with Egypt and Ghana thus remaining matches of their respective groups would be very tough. Football is always changing, so it's crucial to adapt. That's why top teams might struggle to qualify for the next stage, and smaller football nations could pose a threat. Tim Southee was spot-on with his bowling change. New Zealand bowlers bowled in good channels. Winning the toss and choosing to bowl first was a bad decision, especially after the 1st T20I performance. Not introducing Iftikhar for a couple of overs was another big blunder. I think they should change the batting positions of Iftikhar and Azam Khan. Good to see Babar scoring some runs; this will boost his confidence level.
2 nd T20 game in between New Zealand team vs Pakistan team was concluded already and a few mins ago. Pakistan team first won the toss with opponent team New Zealand and got chance for bat or bowl and Pakistan team chose bowl first. New Zealand team effort in this game was outstanding and they beat Pakistan team bowler very badly. New Zealand team scored 194 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets and this target was good. F.Allen batsman scored 74 runs in 41 balls with seven 4s and five 6s, U.Mir dismissed F.Allen. F.Allen also credited with Player of game award due to their outstanding effort in today game. A.Mlen also took down 4 batsman in 4 overs with 33 runs. B.Azam tried hard to chase down target but failed and Pakistan team scored only 173 runs in 19.3 overs by losing all player and lost this game. A brilliant game by the Blackcaps! The result was just as expected. Congratulations to New Zealand for confirming 2-0 lead in the five-match series! Finn Allen's excellent batting and Adam Milne's outstanding bowling applied the brakes to Pakistan's chase. Although New Zealand's fielding was subpar with many dropped catches, they still managed to win the match. Newcastle itself playing at home is a plus point but it is not a benchmark that they can beat Man City game. I would bet on the Citizen winning. St. James' Park is not too scary because Head2Head Man City is still far ahead.
