421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MultiCoin][Stratum+GW] multipool.in - Always mine the most profitable coin on: July 16, 2013, 02:34:13 PM
Would a solution be to rotate at least one cycle per day through each coin mined in the last 24 hours to preserve our shares???

I am considering doing this with one of the next coins I add, with PPS as the payout method.  You would submit shares in that currency and get paid per share in LTC.

However, I would not be able to do this fee-free, there will likely have to be a 2-3% PPS fee (which certain members would be exempt from) as well as some kind of exchange fee to mitigate my risk in exchanging a potentially volatile currency for a stable one.  This would free users from having to maintain so many wallets and not having to worry about exchanging their coins.  If it works out well with the new coin I would likely move most of the coins on the pool to the new payout method.  Stay tuned.

It would have to pay in BTC to be even remotely of interest to me.
I would much much rather have a SHA-256 MultiPort: BTC, FRC, PPC and TRC. Then I could get more profitable use of my ASICs.

Use the AutoPayOut, it works great for me. Just wait for the next 30 minute cycle and everything confirmed above your threshold gets paid.

I've been so inspired by this debate I brought in 6 more gig. GO MULTIPORT!!!

Now if I could just get my 5970s to mine scrypt I'd add 4 more  Grin

"...scrypted asics hit the scene.... as if it hasn't happened already."
HT xD

Do share, who is selling ASICs for scrypt???
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine TRC on: July 12, 2013, 08:43:37 PM
All my 7970s are mining MultiPort and my rejection rates are 0.39% or lower. Great job!!!

But, I can't get my 5970s to mine scrypt to save my life. I pointed them to TRC but all I get are stratum disconnects. Any suggestions on how to mine TRC with 5970s would be greatly appreciated. TIA
My batch file:
cgminer.exe -c MultiPool_Miner_2_TRC.conf
pause
exit

There are some issues right now on the TRC pool..  I haven't tracked them down yet.  It seems like some people are having issues and some aren't.  If you could send me your logs that would be helpful.

I'd be glad to send you my log if I knew how. I searched but I can't find it.

428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Rejection rate using cgminer on: July 11, 2013, 10:01:09 PM
I'm using cgminer with a load-balance configuration between multiport, WDC, DGC & FTC. I was leaving multiport out but then PXC and LKY tempted me. I notice that sometimes I get as high as 20% reject rate and never less than 2%.

The CGMiner documentation specifically says you shouldn't do this.

Quote
Do not use on multiple block chains at the same time!

CGMiner isn't meant to handle multiple block chains. If you are load-banacing between, e.g., LTC and FTC, you might wind up sending LTC shares to the FTC pool (or vice versa).

Multiport already mines the most profitable coin, so mixing it with other coins makes little sense. An alternative to MUltiport would be using CGWatcher, with lets you schedule mining tasks.

I deleted the "load-balance" and just use "fail-over" with multiport first. It's been running ~5 hours with less than a 0.25% rejection rate. I also changed expiry to be one second longer than scan-time, 61 and 60.

Is "load-balance" good for a situation like wemineltc where there's 5 servers available but they're all for LTC?

I notice that sometimes I get as high as 20% reject rate and never less than 2%. I'm wondering if expiry, scan-time and queue have any impact on rejection rates. In reading the cgminer thread I learned it's a bad idea to include "no-submit-stale" : true and not to set expiry too high since it will hold all shares generated not able to submit them until after the expiry time. I'd appreciate any insights folks may have. TIA.

I also wouldn't mind seeing MNC/NVC disappear from the multiport as it seems like MNC is only profitable for a few mins a day which only takes away from the actually profitable coins while we are switching pools.  NVC I don't have a problem with but I really don't like having slower coins mixed with all those faster coins in the same multi port.  I know if I use the same cgminer configs for LTC and MNC one is gonna get way more stales/rejects than it should due to them running better with different settings.  That's why I have been staying away from using the multi port all together and have manually been switching pools.

Nice.
BUT: only BTC as payment accepted ?
Uncool. Again only those already sitting on coins can buy. And doesn't help prevent scam-accusations.
Makes me sad. *cry*
"Only BTCs?" What a bunch of bitchy little girls  Grin
432  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Radeon 5830+7970 problems... on: July 01, 2013, 10:32:03 PM
I can't get these to play together. It seems to be the 5830. When I start cgminer it compiles a bin for the Tahiti but crashes trying to compile the 5830. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? Any chance someone has a working conf file? TIA
433  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Safe and Sane temperature control???? on: June 30, 2013, 04:17:01 PM
Why did you eliminate temperature control for GPUs? The bitminter client lets them heat up to 95C and my PC shuts down. The options menu lets one select between C and F, but, I've never seen it display GPU temperature. I can run uninterrupted using cgminer.

How long do you figure a video card will take before it's fan burns out? I've had mine going for 3 weeks 24/7 and it's been fairly constant at 71C and 51% fan speed.
I just burned out a MB mining and I'll replace it with a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3. I've also burned out a couple of 7970s, they were used so I don't know how many hours cum. I have a 5970 that quit hopefully because its fan wore out. Ordered a $15 replacement fan and will install it in a couple of days.
435  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Merged Mining? on: June 25, 2013, 01:12:38 PM
Hey Doc,  Have you considered merging IXCoin and DevCoin along with NameCoin?
Ouch on the down time yesterday! I guess Black Lotus was Chasing the Dragon  Grin

Love your site! It's so very helpful.
Could you please add a column with the 3-letter symbol for each currency?
Cheers

Hi there, are there any fees for namecoin or bitcoin withdrawal ? Couldn't find info anywhere on the website.
No withdrawal fees. Just enter your exchange or wallet address and set your auto payout level. Paid out every hour on the hour.

cgminer --scrypt -o yourpool -u username -p password -s 2 --expiry 1 --queue 0 --thread-concurrency 20992 -I 13 -w 256 -g 2
What's the logic of using "-s 2 --expiry 1 --queue 0"Huh
439  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / BitMinter Client 1.4.0 and Java 7 Update 25 on: June 18, 2013, 08:35:40 PM
I got a Java notice saying to update for increased security. Afterwards it suggested using the Java Uninstall Tool and it removed 7.21.
I updated all miners with Java 7 Update 25 and then BitMinter Client 1.4.0.

Does it make any difference if I'm running 32-bit or 64-bit Java as far as BitMinter is concerned?
Cheers
440  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: up down...up down... on: June 18, 2013, 02:34:37 PM
Hey Doc! What gives? I've been hashing at ~ 10 gig and hardly made a dime today. I've even run out of work and sat idle several times. Are you under attack? Upgrading the servers? Etc? I gotta earn...

There has been a large DDoS attack on Bitminter going on since 6-16-13.  Started a few hours before the difficulty change and has continued into today.  Mining has been sporadic because of this.
Hey Doc,
Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Is there anything we miners can do to help prevent future attacks???
Cheers, Aurum
