BTW, the main blocker for me taking action was that I never got around to compiling the table of homographic characters and their ASCII counterparts. If this crops up again, it'd be helpful if someone would compile a nice plaintext "<char_from> -> <char_to>" table.
OK, we will try to assemble a table but in the meantime, can we just add them to the rules? So if we spot some just directly report them without trying to find a solid proof of plagiarisms? |

Me and LoyceV were hunting for those for quite some time now.
Every day there were like at least 40-50 posts with hompgraphs, some days over 200.
The last few days/ maybe a week now/ there are none, 0, "nada".
How can they just disappear overnight??
If it wasn't you, then all those accounts were controlled by one person or a group and they change the style of the bots.
All that, just confirm that I was right about the homograph attacks and why they should be added to the rules.
Anyway, the good news is that the forum is now homogrph-free, we won this battle, and hopefully we'll win the war, but I still will be checking to be 101% sure.

I try to check this thread at least 5 times a day but I can say it's not easy as I have enough to do IRL. So I'm doing my best at the moment, if someone has some extra time can take over to list the application in its own post, which I can link in the OP. When I get more time I'll be happy to clear the OP and make it easier to understand. @stompix I don't think that colouring the text will affect the search results but I can try. I don't think you can  The time between two reports for me is 9 seconds. So for 300 reports you will need 2700 secs meaning 45 pure minutes. Add up the seconds that needs to move from one page to another. Say 2 seconds each that's 600 more secs which is more 10 minutes. This is only in theory though. You really think practically you can?  PS: Consider the frustration of doing same thing for total of 55 minutes without a break FYI For Sr. Member and up the "cool down" time is 4 seconds  Often I do report what I see in the Patrol page, so basically is worthless. Most of the time I report posts written in other languages outside the Local section and the Homographs. BTW If my reporting manners are not good enough, please let me know so we both don't waste time and effort. I'm aiming for a ban/nuke kind of reports and homographs but.. it's not easy. The time between two reports for me is 9 seconds. It's 4 seconds for me. You'll lose 1 second every 50 Activity until you hit the minimum. On LoyceMobile it's more than half a minute (any chance it can be whitelisted?). Ups you were quicker then me. Yes, I was whitelisted when I was a member but lost this privilege after I ranked up to Full member. |

We need to go though the list manually and check the profiles. Hopefully if we find enough evidence the mods will lock/close/trash the ANN. In this case, closing the ANN isn't enough, the higher ranking spam accounts should be handled too. Sure but that's why we go trough every account and report it manually. I wish we had a rule that if an account has 10 or 20 posts /reported as good/ against the rules for a certain time period /like a week or so/ to be automatically banned and take off some of the load from the mods. |

I thought I caught someone cheating. That just make sense. Thanks. I got excited with merits that I came to see that I might just be a HERO one day if I get to received merits everyday. I just got one today which doesn't happen everyday: I need more than 250 merits more to become a HERO. Fuck it.
Well don't give up , you actually need 249 now. Merit is not easy to get but it is not impossible. If you follow some simple rules and don't really hunt it, you may reach to Hero in no time EDITED: Your biggest mistake is that you post mainly in Spammy megathreads, no surprise that you got only 1 merit till now. Try to join more "healthy" discussions, it is a better way go and forget about this shitpostings. |
