yeah I guess I should have cashed in all 12 shares back in feb.  I cashed in  7 and kept 5  as a show of support to thomas bob and dz.

Win some lose some.  maybe july they will start to hash.

I do fell a lot of sympathy to anyone that had a lot invested in round 17 and had never had a good round earlier.

I was lucky to hit 5,6, 9-12  all fiat winners.

I lost on r1 and now it looks like a loss on round 17

5 of 12 shares.

42942  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Question re USB hubs and mining on: June 02, 2014, 09:02:23 PM
I'm going to start off by saying that I *know* a dedicated rig would be better than the solution I am trying to cobble together. Believe me, I would much rather have a couple of gridseeds or a titan or any of the other powerhouse rigs that are coming out. I can't afford one right now and with Bitcoin values rising and altcoins coming out of the woodwork every day, it isn't profitable to rent rigs anymore (if it ever even was to begin with!).

It's my birthday today (go me!) and my husband has asked me what I want. I don't want flowers or candy or clothes or jewelry. I want MOAR HASHING POWER.

My question is this - if I were to buy several of the 4 - 6 GHs USB ASIC miners, how would I "chain" them together so that they would all mine the same coin @ the same pool?

I would need a USB hub, right? Could I just tell the husband to head on down to our local Best Buy and pick up any old hub or does it have to have specific features?

Any advice would be appreciated Smiley

Thanks in advance,

Cynthia

Happy birthday!  please do not buy usb miners their time has passed.  buy something like this

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=629006.0

much better choice then a usb stick one of these does not need a hub. If you have   a lot of these  then you could use a hub but it can be a low cost hub.
42943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using a UPS for Gridseed G-blade on: June 02, 2014, 08:51:18 PM
I'd only suggest an UPS if you have unreliable power where you live. Most affordable UPS aren't going to run very long on battery with a significant power drain. Most consumer-grade UPS are really meant to give you time to save your work and safely power-down your PC. However, UPS are very useful if you have frequent, short power outages.

the post above is pretty accurate.  Sounds like you have some fun loving children that play with the power.  If you do the ups you picked may help.

Also read this below as I think you need a better power supply

I own grid seed blades    they are not 140 watts they are 90 watts with a good power supply and with freq 850 clocking .    what do you power your grid seeds with?

I use this platinum psu

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG5LSN8/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and a few sets of these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG7AGDY/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

these are terrible on power:

http://zoomhash.com/collections/power-supplies/products/12v-10amp-power-adapter-for-gridseed-blade

http://www.gawminers.com/12v-30a-360w-led-switching-power-supply/

if you use poor power supplies you waste a lot of power.
42944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using a UPS for Gridseed G-blade on: June 02, 2014, 06:54:43 PM
When there is a blackout, everything stops and continues when the blackout ends. I want to know if the duration of the blackout, with online ups, continue to mine gridseed without damage until the battery runs out. I would connect all the same ups (miner, raspi, hub, adsl-modem .......)

What I really want to avoid is when the blackout occurs when the blackout is caused by an electric crossover, when someone tries to turn on the main switch of the house, I want to avoid the attempt to turn on and off.

When an electric crossover, the attempt to turn on and off when you try to re-light. The second it takes from when you turn herself jumping until

I want childproof. I like quiet go home.

a grid seed blade pulls about 90 watts.  if you have everything hooked up to a ups .  it will keep mining none stop until the ups runs down.

what is the exact make and model ups you want to buy.

and how many grid seed blades do you have?

  1  = 90 watts
2 = 180 watts
3 = 270 watts
42945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using a UPS for Gridseed G-blade on: June 02, 2014, 05:07:57 PM
all or nothing.  put every piece of gear on the ups.  including your router and your modem.

I have a ups.  I only have my router and my modem attached to it along with 1 pc and 1 screen/monitor .

When I get a black out

my gridseed blades  stop working
 my antminer s-1's stop working

but my pc, router and my modem all work.  So if a blackout happens  right now I stop mining but I can still use the net.

when power comes back my s-1's will power on and reboot  and I have to reset the gridseed blades.

I did this for a reason If there is a long black out .  my router  and modem will run for 3 hours maybe 4.  So when my s-1's come back they will work if the blackout is under 4 hours.

If I hook up my gridseeds  they will run the ups down faster and nothing will power back once the ups is run down.
42946  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: June 02, 2014, 11:52:03 AM
maximum is 2.4 but i do not think that any one fairly can earn because you have to work fairly as stunna is paying his hard earned coin to this community

Why not ? I think its posible if u rly get into couple of rly active threads and u have LOTS of free time u can do it , in theory Cheesy . My max was about 500-600 but now im free all day again so that might change.

1k it's possible but need plenty of time, as you don't need to write wall of text for constructive post(this is already a constructive post, with just one line)
IMO it's not possible unless you want to be banned. Some people did that last month and it didn't end well for them.

If you have above 1000 posts a month with a paid signature you can be sure to get a moderator's attention.

and why? there is such a stupid rule here?

i was posting more than 600-800 post per month, even before the adv for primedice, so what's the point here?

many will take advantage posting bullshit posts.

The ritz campaign was flooded in the foreign language part of the forum.

Since some of the foreign language sections do not have a lot of moderators.

For me I did 3000 posts from 2013 to 2014 in about 11 months.  I then found Ritz and did 400 posts.

I had 3 posts deleted and 5 posts merged.  I was pm'd by a moderator and told that the standards for posting need to be higher  since I was now being paid.  We talked on 1 or 2 pm's and I was fine with the explanation.
I had started a hot deals thread  as a service to the community and  as a way of making good posts.  What I was doing wrong was adding a new post every time I found a hot deal.  So I  had made good posts with good info but 3 in a row 2 hours apart is against forum rules they merged them and I was more careful posting to that thread. 1 post a day unless some one else posts on the thread. No back to back posts. All was fine after that.
42947  Other / Politics & Society / Re: solar frekin roadways on: June 02, 2014, 10:35:03 AM
YMMV

http://pureenergies.com/us/blog/the-effect-of-snow-on-solar-panels/

http://blogs.wsj.com/experts/2013/09/23/stop-subsidizing-solar-power/
Quote
Then why is solar popular? Huge taxpayer subsidies hide the actual cost. Other renewables receive a subsidy of about one cent per kwh, solar energy receives about 96 cents per kwh. We pay solar’s cost in the form of taxes instead of as electric rates.

subsidies=>misrepresentation of costs=>misallocation of resources=>waste

In the USA  oil has had its fair share of subsidies also coal has had many subsidies .  Not that I hate oil or coal  but they cause real air pollution.

I am not talking about co2 and greenhouse effect.  I am talking about particle of soot in the air from older dirty coal power plants (USA)  .

They older plants have been grandfathered for decades  the subsidy  cost is lung disease  increased for millions of people.

If all power plants in the USA  were forced to fully clean the particulates lung disease would lower  and the price of electrical power would rise quite a bit. States like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut  would directly benefit with much cleaner air.

I am not a green freak I am just a guy with asthma  that spends about 2k a year filtering air in his home.  Works no meds for years.  I spent a lot of time researching the issue.  You could start a lot of fights over this issue but the fact is 20 of the 40  worst  coal plants for power are in a line starting   from Illinois and ending near Trenton NJ.  All are old and grandfathered  that is a subsidy you pay less for electrical power and you pay with lung disease.
Now that more medical is getting paid by the feds some rulings against those shit on your neighbors power plants have occurred in the supreme court.
Same with some attacks against food (completely different subject involves corn subsidy)  but 10 percent of gasoline comes from corn  which is subsidized.

Like it or not  solar frekin driveways would work for many homeoweners .  I could give 2 shits if it is subsided  by the feds.  Since corn coal and oil are all getting a nice piece of coin from the feds.
Give me a driveway that works and pays for itself in 5-7 years I am in.

May sure you have the info set up correctly, such as the pool address and worker credentials. For me, that is one of main reasons my S1 would not mine. Also, make sure that the pool itself is posting the proper information or is being maintained properly if you are mining a new coin or on a less than professionally run pool.

Not sure if op has the s-1 or the s-2 .  But pool settings need to be correct in either case.

Interested!

It would be nice with an sp10.  drop the sound 10 db and your gear would be just about perfect.
42950  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer not mining on: June 02, 2014, 04:04:45 AM
I set up my miner and filled in the pool info but when I connect the miner to my router, it doesn't show that its mining when I look at my account online

do you have  an s-1 antminer if so

screenshot the pool info

I can't stand it. On facebook all my friends are sharing this stupid project and saying they'll buy stock.

it's not economically feasible

herd mentality and the erosion of critical thinking in America at its finest

edit: http://www.equities.com/editors-desk/stocks/technology/why-the-solar-roadways-project-on-indiegogo-is-actually-really-silly

Read your article and I saw the clip on youtube.

The clip was fun your article was a 'debbie downer'.

Solar driveways would be good for some homeowners.
Never shovel snow. Is a big benefit.
Roadways won't happen.  They would be torn up with trucks etc.

this panel is about 2 by 4 feet = 8 sq feet

http://www.amazon.com/Solar-Panel-Bundle-100W-Monocrystalline/dp/B00B8L6EFA/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t

100 watts.   my driveway is 30 by 40 feet  = 1200 sq feet  or 150 panels (I know it is a different panel)

if  i could do 150 x 100 watts max charge from my driveway that is 15000 watts or 15 kwatts

6 to 8 hours of sun a day = 90-120 kwatts a day   say 100 for me that is a max of 15 dollars worth of power a day   grand total of 450  usd a month  or about  5400 usd a year.

So if you could do my driveway for 25 k it would pay off in  5 years.

I happen to have a perfect driveway for sun exposure.    So i rather do this install then a roof top install.

But no way would this work on highways.

the 1200 watt cosair is  the same as the 1200 watt sea sonic

http://www.amazon.com/SeaSonic-ATX12V-Platinum-PLATINUM-1200-SS-1200XP3/dp/B00JG5LSN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401677299&sr=8-1&keywords=seasonic+1200

cost = 290

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-Digital-Modular-Platinum/dp/B008Q7HUR0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401677342&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+1200

cost = 325

but frankly the 1300 watt evga is pretty solid and far cheaper then the two above

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401677449&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300

cost = 195

these are all amazon prices no referral links .  the corsair and the sea sonic are better quality the the evga but a lot more up front.

I own a few evga 1300 and 1 sea sonic 1200   .  I do not own a corsair 1200
42954  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners (Scrypt ASIC seller) independent feedback thread on: June 02, 2014, 02:37:18 AM
Hey Guys,

Would you guys take these questions to the GAW Community? We would love to help you there!

I'm waiting for the power reducing patch that you promised before I decide to return the falcon or not and before I do anything else. Problem I do foresee: I'm going to be waiting for the patch until after the 14 day return period expires. So do I keep my falcon based on a patch promised twice by the CEO and Zeus and risk not being able to return it? Or do I return it to get my money back on my credit card? idk... rock and a hard place.

So, until then, I do nothing, and I stay right here at home in the welcoming arms of this awesome, helpful community called BTCtalk.

Look I like GAW miners they sold me a lot of good gear and fixed every problem I had.  No exceptions.   It is one reason I am really trying to do some good clean fair tests.

I also want to test the patch when it comes out.  When gridseeds came out there were issues with script   and 256 running and a lot of early grid seeds burned up..  this was fixed.

So maybe gaw mining gear can drop power use down enough to be good gear.     I want to be like Fox news 'fair and balanced'

I don't want to toss them under the bus.   I know reactor for about a year on this site.

He has had his share of getting f'd around buying gear.   Like many of us long term members .

Me I try to follow some rules and trust me I have still been burned more then once.

I will get my hands on  a fury by weeks end and try to run it on cpuminer or cg miner or something.   I will post only ltc on wemineltc and cex.io
 i will use the

$5.95 brick the $39 usd power supply sold by  gawminers  and a plat psu .

If an update comes along I will do it and see what it does power wise.  until then peace out.
42955  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: June 01, 2014, 11:12:16 PM
well whether   1000 or 2000 posts can be done by me I am not sure. (not very likely)

But these signature campaigns are good for cryptocoin and for this site

see this thread  below  I would not be able to volunteer   100's of dollars in equipment for testing   without the money from signature campaigns.

the testing I do is helpful  for miners and makes the overall cryptoworld a little better.

I will do ltc only

I will use 2 pools  cex.io  and wemineltc.com

I will post when the gear arrives.

closer to New Jersey  07731 zip code is best.

they can test up to 3 furies on it.

that is 3.9mh   I am hoping they run at 105-110 watts running ltc

i can mail the psu and a trick switch to keep it powered and a  kill-a-watt  ……. 1 blade does   5.3mh and pulls 85-90 watts running ltc.

if you are a trustworthy member and want to run the test send me  pm.

I'm afraid to mine ltc with my falcon. If I mine 4000% -no exaggeration- less diff coins and I'm already at 1000watts, I think ltc would fry my psu. I'm interested in your test results.

42960  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners (Scrypt ASIC seller) independent feedback thread on: June 01, 2014, 07:28:48 PM
Well, here's my unofficial results. I say unofficial because I screwed up my test on smartcoin. i forgot to up the ltcclk back to 328. But for half hour at 290 mining smartcoin with diff byte size between 45-100k, I was using 550 from the wall for 30 min. that's 1100 -10%=1000 - 125 mobo. 875 Watts. problem is, i'm solving blocks solomining, but not getting credit for them. I'll possibly cause a fork or 51% if I stayed on it. Seems to me, we are forced to use 900+ Watts.
EDIT: This was conducted at 290. So to use manufacturer setting at 328 will cause more power, more HW, and uncredited blocks. so basically its pointless to mine low diff or net hashrate coins, in order to obtain the manufacturers power range.

Now the difficulty is at 9 after its been less than 1.... I can't get real test done. Back to mining real coins.

Don't worry as power reports will filter out and people  will learn what the zeus/gaw miners really get.

my 16-17 watts an mh for ltc mining with gridseed blades   are done with a hi end platinum psu the seasonic 1200 watt model

http://www.amazon.com/SeaSonic-ATX12V-Platinum-PLATINUM-1200-SS-1200XP3/dp/B00JG5LSN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401649879&sr=8-1&keywords=seasonic+1200

I paid  287 for this.   and I have a few sets of these

http://www.gawminers.com/6-pin-pcie-to-3-x-2-1mm-barrel-tip-power-cable/

you can not get a much more efficient piece of gear  then the above psu.

If I use this psu

http://www.gawminers.com/12v-30a-360w-led-switching-power-supply/

I will jump at least 15-20   percent.  so  my 16-17 watts per mh will become 19-21 watts per mh

I have both and have tested them both.

The little bricks are worse 20-25 percent more.

So if you are running a lot of machines furies    you should use

http://www.gawminers.com/6-pin-pcie-to-3-x-2-1mm-barrel-tip-power-cable/

and maybe this

http://www.amazon.com/Antec-EA-650-Platinum-Power-Supply/dp/B0064LWI40/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1401650265&sr=8-2&keywords=antec+ea+650

I own one of these also good  it can run 6 to 12 furies.

6 if you use 2 of these

http://www.gawminers.com/6-pin-pcie-to-3-x-2-1mm-barrel-tip-power-cable/

12 is you buy 4 of the above and 2 of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-6-PIN-PCI-EXPRESS-Y-SPLITTER-POWER-CABLE-15-MADE-IN-AMERICA-/261366480644?pt=US_Power_Cables_Connectors&hash=item3cdaa7ff04

my point is I think the fury may run at 40 watts or maybe 38 watts with a plat psu    and you may be doing 1.3 mh

this gets you to 29 -30 watts  an mh .  still not as good as a gridseed blade.   we need more fair tests of gaw/zeus gear.

I can show ltc tests for gridseeds     and I will post photos here of the exact setup on monday..

you can then hope for some real photos and proof of gaw-zeus miners to make a fair comparsion.

I will post my setup on the gridseeds with a few photos.  Hopefully people will post real shots of gaw results to compare.
