That seems fishy, why does your photo show x13, x14, and x15 lower hashrate then the others? All past baikal miners were the same hashrate on all algo's...

Hi,

That is baikal technical specification.

4302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit2x agreement with >80% miner support. on: July 11, 2017, 01:39:21 PM
Wouldn't it be optimal for Core to publish a statement that Segwit2x is a terrible option which they are strongly opposed to, then list the reasons why.

But then state, given its' high probability of being implemented, they will work/do everything in their power to try make it usable & help with testing. If it fails, Core are still heroes for doing their best and if it works it may well be thanks to their efforts in this rushed testing phase & quick reactions when it's implemented.

I agree.  But unfortunately, with bad blood, no trust, and egos on both sides, I'm not holding my breath.

lol, so much fun, now you trolls probably will all want refund hehe, if you dont play long then bye bye and by the way as siacoin will be asic only which means, investors will probably never pump this ever again, see, in the end siacoin devs wanted to be greedy and they got burnt hehe

I don't really care one way or another for refund...it serves me better to get equip this year and take the IRS equip deduction and take the revenue next year

just saying a reboot on design to allow more alts to EVENTUALLY be made with their miner using this protocol....might be wise

they'd likely get more $$$ from ASIC miner folk ..and likely these other devs making such coin would not effect the attempts

of why siacoin is made and to be used...

just saying..(of course I know zip at one time I drank the BFL Kool-Aid...so just tossing it out there as an option ..ie reboot for a couple months)

If you just invest the money buying sc, I think you make the better deal. You don't know the difficulty by then.. It's a long time till they are being shipped.

need the equip write offs (not big on getting more bitmain) thus at 50% tax rate on what I mine...need legit asic equip

thus my reason for sc miners are a bit more complex or but what you say is correct indeed....for everyone else or at least everyone only paying 25% tax

rate on their crypto mining income ....just where I'm at

(bitcoin has been berry, berry good to me...but damn it need legit companies besides bitmain ..who is tossing out pow scrypt miners like toasters and at too

high a price imho for a (hopefully) 2 month pre-order

whatever......my lot lately..need equip or give that 50% equip tax break to the IRS as a 50% cash ..at least in miners I can supposedly do better then

then break even on such a bet .....

Do you have any clue where tax rates are only 25%? I get over 50% if I turn into fiat for any substantial amounts.

Fed income tax in USA is 25% if you don't make a lot of $$$$ ...then state taxes etc....at 4.15 to 50 buck LTC well...it got interesting..not so much yet...but I have like 5 months
left in the year yet.....

4306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First Asic for SIA - Obelisk SC1 on: July 11, 2017, 07:22:19 AM

If their time frame weren't a year out on the Obelisk miner they would have the kind of interest they were hoping for.  It is just way too much lead time to get people willing to throw a lot of money at this.  They would have the interest and the funding for this if the runway were shorter.  People are looking, but with good reason they are holding back.

Yeah...now that they have everyones attention they could re-consider all this miner stuff for now..punt it into 2017 w/ new miner

Well they could refund ...thus refunding would further prove they are legit and help their cause and coin project

refunding ..folks $$$ now for the oblisk and instead get their house in order. Then if they do fund a miner..fund it not as a seacoin pet project
but as a blake2 protocol (I think it is) and seacoin miner....asic miner first on that protocol......a way to move siacoin 2nd

other devs would have options to make blake2 protocol coins (again I think that is the protocol) expand the universe

is seacoins on the blake2 protocol ..are being sold for fund/support the open cloud project on storage...well the other coins would not effect

their efforts that much imho anyway....likely it would expand the interest in their efforts and hardware

but a refund and a miner in the blake2 protocol might be a way to punt and hedge w/o losing their momentum BEFORE they cash out the $$$ for chips etc

and miners

4307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacking KNC Neptune / Jupiter / Titan miners back to life. Why not? on: July 11, 2017, 07:15:14 AM
Well, there's always something new. Got two cubes in today for repair. One had a burned plug (fixed, I need to order another box of plugs) with all four dies now working. The second one was weird: The user said it would start mining then shut down the whole contoller within a new minutes. So I hooked it up, put a good heat sink on it, and took a look.

Interesting one. Very, very interesting. Yes, it does come up on four dies (one supply is bad on die 1) and yes it does crash the controller and in one case shut down my power supply. Never seen this one.

Did some work on it. Die 1 is bad. It works, but it's still bad, what happened is that it overheated and damaged both its power supply and the rest of the board to some extent. In this case, when it comes up it goes into thermal runaway as it heats up, ultimately shorting the supplies and the board. You can see the burning on the back of the board, it got very hot.

Turning it off clears that but the other three dies also run very hot. After experimenting for a bit and doing a reflow I found a solution: Run the remaining three dies at a much lower voltage. Running dies 2,3,4 at -.0806 at 275mhz gives you a cube that runs at 57mh while running at 42c in a box with the original style fan. That's a pretty good running cube and about what you should expect from a cube normally. So that's fixed as well.

Never know what you will run into in this business....

Just a note..a maxumark bracket (get rid of u shaped knc kludge heatsink) and putting on the individual heatsink option on each dc/dc chip

might further reduce his heat....the noctura fan mod at 3000 rpm (20% more noise) vs standard 1500 rpm knc also may help

anyway if you wanted to extend the life of a cube the 10 buck maxumark bracket and heatsinks direct on dc/dc's and maybe the fan is how

I'd go..just a thought to pass on to the guy.

With the above mods my temps on my dc/dc's went down 10-15c on ALL modified dies, this is with the maxumark bracket and the noctura 3000 rpm fan mods.

So my miners in the basement in the summer NOW run at the heat they used to run w/o any mod the previous Winter! 10c-15c is a big deal in real heat output

no more shutting down titans on 90F plus days now....it cut me that much slack in heat etc

4308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKAL - 5 STAR PRODUCT 1 STAR SERVICE - BAD BUSINESS PRACTISE on: July 10, 2017, 07:54:02 AM
At this point I would be very careful about spending any sizeable chunk on an x11 miner.  Baikal has a new miner, PinIdea has a new miner, and iBelink supposedly has a monster right around the corner.  There is almost no info on how many of each of these miners there are or how quickly new ones will be coming out.  Hashrate could go really high very soon.

I hope they offer the 300mh cubes too. I'd rather have 10 cubes at 3,000 mh and pay more than all my eggs in 1 basket with ONE unit, in case something goes bad.

I mean, what do they have a 90 day warranty. Just saying a 300mh cube blows you still have 90% of your equip yet to mine with.

Just a thought

"We still plan to ship by June 2018 at the latest" !

So one has to wait a year for this miner possibly ?

yupp, and people who paid for a minebox (their last money grab) months ago are still getting the run around, months behind their last "latest by" delivery and nothing but promises made for their future...

but hey thats how robbing paul to deliver peter's machines works right? Cheesy

and yet people buy....

crypto is funny ahha
Is minerbox connected with the SIA team? I was under the impression that they are not affiliated

Minebox is not connected directly to SIA as far as I know but they do have a partnership with HP Enterprise.

The site seems to show otherwise. That it is a big deal with the partnership with HP.

The other point mentioned by folk, I've heard on these SC ASIC machines being promoted more as SC coin machines, rather the the asic angle for home miners
getting back into crypto ...also has some merit.....imho should be more noise than I've seen on this. With as many folk like me just dying to mine something
other then bitmain machines (ltc or btc) ....

hey ..I"m bent and taking a 'flyer/chance' on these guys....what the heck it is ONLY money right? (we are all in this for the future of money for humanity right?) Smiley

Is this even worth it if its 2 months behind?

a month ago the L3+ was producing 1.35 LTC a day, now its down to 0.8 LTC a day... in two months, it'll only do 0.2?

I'm thinking about ordering but it seems the price went from $1300 to $2300 ....

It is my concern too ! My order for 5 pcs L3+ should arrive in october ! 2017

Where can I see the producing LTC a day ?! or how much can i expect to earn in october when "everybody" will receive the antminer L3+  Huh Embarrassed  Huh

By october hashrate will easily be doubled...youll be lucky to be getting .25 LTC per machine/day by then.

The danger is most getting equipment after JULY are 'expecting' or 'betting' that a jump in scrypt pow coin price and/or ltc from $50 to $75 bucks

will let them ROI. But that is a 'dangerous assumption"

then again I've done such in the past too...just don't exactly follow that logic anymore

4311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: July 09, 2017, 07:04:11 AM

Well thanks to folks on here I got the distribution this round

You can make a private signed msg off proof of ownership with the bot of my BTC address from a paper wallet on a NON ever to connected to the Inet machine
once the computer synch'd enough to find my addresses OFFLINE ie 2015

after msg made (and checking for malware etc on usb stick) port the newly made private key message proof to a LIVE on inet machine and all works slick Smiley

(just windows and blockchain-qt download fresh install ..it took like 6 days and still not quite done...but synch'd enough to find my paper wallet addresses)

Now just completely format that hard drive ...as this incarnation will never touch the internet again

paper wallets are still 'virgin' (even thou they fooled around some Smiley

All is well. Still dumbstruck by how this works with byteball distribution....at 100 btc it is significant...

Now, do I hold as we go along or sell...? decisions, decisions?

Anyway it worked, to those who helped you can tell others this is possible with offline paper wallets as we expected..........and they still retain
their 'virgin'ness' qualities in that the 'hanky-panky' they did was OFFLINE the inet and never to return...(format that sucker ...die) Smiley

thus no 'taint' on my nice virgin paper wallets

on the other hand it may take the whole month to synch byteball  the wallet ...it is not exactly speedy

by the by when was the first air drop of byteball Dec 2016?

Curious ...well at least I got on the boat for part of the ride..with a whole 6 hrs to spare (I work nites but well worth the 3hrs of sleep before work to swing this)

thanks a lot to all that helped

4312  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price tracking&discussion (Anarchy) on: July 08, 2017, 07:59:42 AM
That guy is psychopath

His rant was just puffed-up bluster and sound bites. He's honestly a hopeless communicator. And sort of a dick.

My fear of Craig Wright is not that he is Satoshi. that..he was one of the 3 guys who maybe started bitcoin....
I forget the other one name, tossed about in this theory.

One died alone in a wheelchair...(forget the name)< the other was famous Hal Finney.

IF what Craig Wright says is correct and he is the last man standing and IF they really did put the majority of the
bitcoin in a trust that supposedly now only craig Wright says will be available to himself on Jan 1st, 2020 as the
last man of the group.

We all are beyond screwed at that point. Also, NO BTC has been spent from those various wallets (could be in a trust) ....NO Satoshi has come forward...even Craig Wright did not out himself..he had Australian Tax Issues at the time, all this speculation on him hit the fan..he ran with it...but did not push it himself, again at the time.

So sh*t, as pissed off with his ego at those that doubt him ...it could be payback time to the world.

well heck...the odds may be 1 in 1000 of this shaking out this way...where this guy on the sidelines of bitcoin

development just 'happens' to be the last man standing and benefits from this 'dead mans' trust setup.

we are all doomed...he is a complete ass and would sell a mess of BTC just to get back at all those who doubt him
....assuming Satoshi really is an 'anarchist' he could just sell so much and watch the BTC universe burn ..and still
walk away with millions. (think of Donald Trump as the inventor of bitcoin and we doubted him and he got
a hold of the keys in 2020...pretty much would work badly for everyone in that manner too...same thing..different
guys..same egos)

shudder

again only a 'fable' but that would be 'vampires are real' kinda wake up call if it is true...just enough mystery
in the whole thing to make me think...damn ..if it was gonna all go 'tulips' and 'beanie baby' Craig Wright being
Satoshi and getting a hold of this trust ..would pretty much be the reason bitcoin and maybe ALL decentralised
cryptocurrencies would tank.

(scared self)

anyway a nice little hopefully 'fable' but some people in the crypto world believe it and support Craig Wright's
patents and paying off Australian tax problems etc....again just enough 'what if' for the occasional BTC 'shudder'
and looking under the bed for monsters.

Hey..the post below says the byteball distribution is

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@moksamol/byteball-distribution-on-june-9

June 9th 2017 at 13:10 UTC

Does anyone want to post here what that would be in USA  for Central Daylight Time?

I'm like time conversion challenged and having issues, with the various conversions, not getting the same times.

First Conversion is Military Time of 13:10 in the above link (assuming that is correct) or 1 pm.

The second Conversion is below:

Does anyone want to post here what that would be in the USA for Central Daylight Time?

Just to double check my calculations the above UTC time is Sunday, June 9th at 1:10 pm? (or 13:10pm military time)

and it converts to (5 hours behind CDT) in my area that is CDT to Sunday 8:10 pm CDT? (USA, Minnesota)

Thanks, I think this is correct. Now it is just a race to get my soon to be 'new' air-gapped computer up with
Bitcoin-Qt so I can 'hopefully' do the private key msg option, using 'cut and paste' from the air-gapped computer
to Bitcoin-Qt on an internet machine. Once that is done of course the air gap'd machine is formatted etc before
ever touching the internet again (hey, I'm paranoid).

Anyway, if the above is correct let me know. Gonna be a race to see if my Bitcoin-Qt wallet is synched in time.
(been chugging along for 3 plus days already)

Whatever, free money, I can hardly complain even if I miss this round. At least I will finally learn how to do
the private msg key option and hopefully how to do such with this air-gapped computer method.

I'd get more but for the only reason I grabbed one is I'm this year (been a great year mining) at the 45% tax

So anyone here have any stories about this group and or cautions I should know about?

I believe that 80% have already been mined (BTC) or am I high on this number?

July 2015 I think bitcoin was 267?

July 2016 I think bitcoin was 650?

July 2017 bitcoin is $2,600 even

so the point becomes ...is there enough actual real world use in speculation/store of value/currency etc

do we have enough people with 'skin in the game' to keep this boat afloat?

4319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: July 05, 2017, 08:11:53 AM
You could run 2 L3+ on a 20amp 120v circuit, but you could only run one on a regular 15amp circuit.  Well you could run 2, but you will likely end up serving drinks and food to a bunch of guys with a big red truck, sirens, and some spotted dogs... LOL

I am also looking at building out some 220v circuits and trying to figure out the plug, and PDU configurations etc for this.

If you have 15 awg breaker and 15 awg plug (120v) on a 12 awg wire 20 amp wire (look you should be able to tell the diff between 12 awg wire and 14 awg wire..the 12 awg 20 amp
wire is bigger more robust)

anyway if THAT is the case (be sure if not leave it 14 awg or 15 amp wire that would be bad)  you can then make the neutral on that run ..the white wire a black wire with some black
electrician's tape (you'd have to change all 120 plugs to 220 on that circuit also) on both ends ...thus two marked black wires to a 20amp double pole breaker
on the panel (you'll need an extra slot) and 2 marked black wires to your choice of 220v outlet. Again all other outlets between have to be changed to a 220 plug
or simply wire nut bypassed and a blank cover put on those former 120v extra outlets. Then when you are DONE mining you can switch the whole works back
on a 120v 1 pole 20 amp breaker and swap back to the regular 120v outlet.

AGAIN ONLY CATCH this is if you are SURE the wire that exists on your 15 amp circuit is 12awg and 20 amp rated.

You can also if it is a small run or something get 12 awg wire and perhaps replace 15awg wire by just connecting old wire 14awg to new wire 12awg and pull and replace
and do above ..or use a piece of conduit and when done mining get rid of the conduit. If in a garage...just run the conduit where you wish...easy peasy..

anyway youtube has lots of videos.....on this....the bigger problem if in-house proper (not garage or basement) would be the noise and loudness of an L3+

the stuff above I mention have tons of youtube videos on the workarounds above

and heck your making money hand over fist now right? (or will be at least for a bit) just get an electrician and all you got to do is say where and point Smiley

The power cord for APW3++ is not included... Bitmain says: "please find one with at least 10A from your local market."
What are the recommendations for the cable regarding the size of the cable, etc? Is there any limit about how long the cable is for run the miners (24/7) in 100% safe way?
Do you guys recommend any specific cable?

Can I use a 100ft 12AWG 15A extension cord cable like this: http://amzn.to/2skyd07 for L3+/APW3++ safely running 24/7?

er NO

just go and get some say 3/4" electrical conduit....and box it out that way ..even if it is on the floor...would be what I would do
to be safe.....

my setup with sub panels (50 amp) 4 20 amp circuits.I simply run one to a miner in my basement for overkill.

dig around the pics..also have push fans to match the shutter fan moving air

the above is all over on how to do on youtube ...so not a big deal to do

but don't use a long cord..that would be silly imho and maybe not safe (damage) etc

Thanks a lot for that! Amazing custom things... Nice pics
If you don't mind... Do you have any pics of your L3/L3+ setup?

thats in the colohub data hall..I've not got a pic myself
