is he a bad guy? i don't think so.. maybe just a libertarian who was smart but at the same time a dummy.

it's a waste of time typing in numbers every hour so you can make $.0001 each time. for that measly .0001, you lose your dignity.

wrong subforum, and i don't know if anyone here is dumb enough to lend a jr. member $1000 with no collateral.

Are you f***ing serious?? lol.... You do realize that in a year or two, that BTC you just spent is gonna be worth a lot more... congratulations, you just bought a sandwich for $300 LOL!! These stores are smart to accept bitcoins and store as much as they can early on
are you serious? when you buy BTC, just buy more by the amount you'd be willing to spend in cash. unless you're talking about people who are willing to starve themselves to become rich on BTC one day. also encouraging people to hoard their BTC is not really going to help the value of yours.

Do I have to wait for the synch to finish before I can begin trading?
If you want send your coins from Bitcoin-qt, wait for sync to finish. It only takes time downloading whole blockchain once not quite true though. the blockchain is ever-updating. if you were to not turn on your computer for a year, it'd take some time to catch up.

i'm not sure BTC needs to be denominated just yet. once it reaches $1k, it'll have a psychological effect and the media will continue to push it. if we denominated it to be at about 60 cents per mBTC, and we reach all-time highs, fewer people would be interested if word got around that "bitcoins have hit an all-time high of $2 per mBTC."
i can't even begin to mention how many people who have recently been turned on to BTC because "it reached x00 dollars per BTC."

Are bitcoins just a temporary fad or are they here to stay? Apart from the anonymity factor, what else has it got going for it? And after seeing the kind of ups and downs it has had in the past few days,i really doubt whether they can ever be a viable currency. Moreover, people buy BTC with the intention to convert into cash later on anyway. So,yeah...
to understand it well enough, you need to know the current economic crisis around the world, and how printing money works. watch this video: http://hiddensecretsofmoney.com/videos/episode-1BTC is a store of value that serves as a hedge against the weakening dollar, which is caused by the overprinting of money (called Quantative Easing). people want BTC because its value, unlike the USD or other world currencies, is not guaranteed to be diluted in the future.

And re: reading this board to find out if bitcoin is worth investing in: that's what I did, and now I'm holding some of them and so is my old man. Maybe I was wrong all along though, it would perhaps have been better to look at the tone of people posting instead of analyzing the numbers?
Reading a pro-Bitcoin website to decide whether to 'invest' in Bitcoin sounds like confirmation bias to me ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) i've been here a few weeks, and with /r/bitcoin on reddit for some time.. and it IS confirmation bias. some of the people here are wearing glasses with the BTC sign on them. but still, this site is still useful for good information - you just have to filter the bad stuff out.

i too am against anarchy. when there's a power vaccum, where is a power struggle. it's just human nature. to think otherwise would be naive and wishful. if you mean by anarchist to mean an egalitarian/idealistic society, which is what i think some of the anarchy supporters here mean.
i don't really see it being much different from darwinism in the animal kingdom. some groups will be more hungry to dominate others.

i've asked some people this same question, and they look at me as a kook. they've lived their lives with a decent enough economy not to feel the impact that a depression would cause.. it's just what happens when you are generations removed from severe poverty and dystopia.
all it takes is someone who is cognizant of history's tendency to repeat itself.

*slips on fedora* ... well, hello m'lady.
oh, and by the way, men can be alpha male assholes, but women can equally be bitches. if this site were a female dominated forum, i'm sure there'd be quite a few catty bad apples.

Once mining is out of the general public's hands we'll be in the "Early Adopter" stage. agreed, still very early.. maybe we're in 1996-1997 in terms of the internet. bitcoin is not going to be as ubiquitous as the internet though. what i like about bitcoin is that most of us are regular nobody/joes.. so it has a grassroots feeling.

on 11/20, he did a bit on the chinese and their e-commerce tendencies.. during the whole time, i thought he would have mentioned BTC, but nope.. it was just about how they spent $5B on online shopping recently.

i'd like to chime in on faucet vs. sig posting.
i've been doing freebitco.in rolls for about 2 days now.. and so far i have about 3 cents worth of BTC. it hasn't been too bad rolling every hour (i've done it maybe 8 or so times), but really.. i've made 3 cents in these past 2 days and the chances of making more than that are low.
meanwhile, i am posting on bitcointalk.org and having a lot more fun.. all while earning significantly more.
i'd say sig posting is a no brainer vs. faucets.
Have you considered some job ? I mean, any job, of any kind. have you considered not assuming that i don't have a job?

you are working for it still.. by typing into a browser. at this rate, it takes 6 times to make a penny (if i remember right).

the word "selfie" does pretty accurately describe what's going on culturally though.. everyone wants to be famous, to show pics of what they had for lunch, or any inane musing they have in their mind.. all for the sake of being popular among your friends.
