441  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did Karpeles cause the April and November 2013 bubbles? Most Probably. on: May 26, 2014, 02:21:28 AM
I have never trusted BTC-e nor Bitfinex

And yet, you have what can only be considered an advert for them in your sig.  Oh the irony.

Read that one again, if you will: "Want to swim with sharks and wrestle with vipers? Trade Bitfinex!" Does that really sound like an advertisement to you? Doesn't to me, but to each his own...
442  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it safe to exchange BTC to Amazon Gift card on localbitcoins? on: May 25, 2014, 04:17:41 AM
Anything purchased with a credit card can be charged back because the chargeback is done via the credit card.   So if someone is offering xyz for BTC and you can purchased xyz with a credit card it really is no different than accepting a credit card.  Usually gift cards can also be reported stolen directly to the issuer as well, the funds frozen and the balance transferred to a new card.  In a dispute the issuer will want proof of purchase and the seller is the one who will have that.

How about things like Greendot moneypak or prepaid visa gift cards (vanilla, etc)? Can those be charged back? I always assumed they were safe, and have never had problems trading them P2P in the online poker community. But like any other P2P dealings, it was based on trust/reputation as well, so I never looked into it too closely.

Twitter is much more useful than facebbok

Twitter seems just as crappy to me. Like FB, I was into it for a while. But it's overrun with advertising, people are just trying to gain a following and promote their crap products, etc. In the end it is just another shitty feed....

So we're gonna break 548 here? Im biting my nails at this action.... there is a big log trend overhead from the ATH at around 540$, if we take out that and 550 I'm going all in I think, but not before....
445  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to learn more about bitcoin? on: May 25, 2014, 04:08:30 AM
To be honest, this forum is the best source of information I have found. Someone linked the bitcoin wiki -- that is a great source -- and this sub forum is very helpful in terms of getting questions answered. I find the Bitcoin Discussion forum to be quite informative, and the Press sub forum keeps me up to date. Good luck!! Cheesy
446  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC MINING is it still profitable on: May 25, 2014, 02:24:51 AM
For casual miners? Pretty marginal at best. Unless you want to put in lots of money and run a big farm of rigs, I wouldn't get into mining at this point. But if you think you can succeed at speculation, Im sure there are good opportunities to mine new coins and unload them for BTC at very good profit (vs electricity for mining). But I dont know too much about it and am not a miner.

Work your way up to "Member" status (you are current a Jr Member), and then get in on a signature campaign in the marketplace. Much, much better prospects for payouts than any of those freebie sites. But who know, YMMV. Cool

It's so odd how many of you waited for the price to reach 500 or so to buy back in.

I'm sure there are many others (like me) waiting for more of a confirmation before fully unleashing all our fiat Smiley

Sure. Just wait till it reaches 600. You could've gone full in at 400 but why do that if you can spend 200 a coin more. You have to be sure, right?

Sure, you could have gone "full in at 400". Quite a few did (or even below that). But the same mindset of unbridled optimism prevented a lot of people to sell at 1000. Or 900. Or 800. Or at all. You get the picture.

Point being, not everyone who bought back "late" (i.e. now) sold early early enough to buy at a profit, but not everyone who buys back now does so at a loss.

Which makes your anger at those who get in now puzzling to me. Let them buy back whenever they want. Be happy that they do so at all, I'd say.

Anger? Not at all.
It just amazes me when i read all these stories here every day. Buying, selling, drawing lines, waiting to buy back in blah blah.
I buy and hold and it works perfect. And i'm pretty sure my profit if i'd sell now would be better than 9 out of 10 of the traders here.
But no, i'm not angry. Just keep using all these trading theories. Totally fine  with me.

Maybe thats true. Maybe not. Its not like you really have any data to support this theory. Maybe buy and hold works perfect for you. Maybe trading works better for others. Me, I needed to have at least a few X my initial investment off the table to not feel despair in a bear market
449  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin trading for dummies in 3 easy steps. :) on: May 22, 2014, 05:45:12 PM
"Calendar trading" is nonsensical and a good way to burn all your money; what you're looking for is probably cyclical trading. Reptilia doesn't do that though, he follows a linear regression. Not that that's a much better strategy (spoiler: It'll fail horribly eventually).

Agree with this, although as long as you are locking in gains as we are still in the overall bullish cycle then you should be good (which Rptilia is). I dont like HODL because I would become too emotional if I am not taking some profit off the table.
450  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will have no more "to the moon" rises. Face it, BTC is becoming BANKING on: May 22, 2014, 05:33:27 PM

453  Economy / Services / Re: ★★★ HIGHEST SIGNATURE PAYMENT ON THE BOARD - NEW RATES - RitzGrandCasino.com ★★★ on: May 21, 2014, 07:34:27 PM
I think for full members UpDown.BT pays more.... .0008 vs. .0007, but I guess it's hard to maintain "highest payment" when there are so many different conditions for different user ranks, etc

Well all that money on the sidelines sure has shown a whole lot of patience these past few months.... wonder when it'll finally start getting back into BTC. Undecided

To be honest here, we dont know any of the details. We do know that they were married for 23 years -- and trying to make any assumptions about her contribution to their lives and fortune is ridiculous. And trying to limit her share to some sort of "direct" (monetary) contribution to his business interests is absurd. She got custody of the child -- wonder why? Raise his child, be the better parent, and get nothing to show for giving half ones life away to marriage when they obviously never married under that pretense in the first place (ie prenump)? Yeah that would be total bs.

Seems we have flattened here at 490-495, kinda thought we might dip and make a nice flag. Dont really know what to think. Any thoughts on where were going from here? (besides the proverbial moon)

Just catching our breath after a big day. I'm surprised it didn't slip further.

This.

I thought we would settle down at +-$475 before going into a rally in a few days. It's hodling pretty nice up there.

Same though here. ~470 is something I really expected (and still could happen). Back to 450, without bouncing up, and I'd start worrying that it was a pump&dump after all.

I'm still kind of thinkin it was a pump and dump. But that doesnt mean we cant get one more leg up! A nice dip from 500 could have been a nice bull flag though and a nice place to get a leveraged long in!

A pump and dump would mean it would go rocket through $500 and end up at $460,-. It did not.

Wait, but couldnt we have still another leg up to make, and then maybe comes the dump? It didnt rocket through 500 on the first leg either...

So it appears Peter Schiff has finally wrapped his mind around Bitcoin:

http://blog.europacmetals.com/2014/05/euro-pacific-precious-metals-now-accepts-bitcoin/

Even the most vocal haters are coming around and embracing bitcoin. Yup, this next rally is going to be epic.

So bottom is in? epic rally from here? Ive been telling everyone these have just been bear traps but that is only because i am a perma bull. Cool
459  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 21, 2014, 06:51:54 PM
Not a pump and dump. Its a dump and pump!!! Dont get caught in the bear trap yall, it aint good for your health. Cool

Some people can go cold turkey. Others cant. I could not go cold turkey and actually, trying to do that over and over just made me miserable and relapse. Eventually I was able to cut down from 2 packs to 4-5 smokes a day, started chewing on sunflower seeds and toothpicks.... eventually I quit a couple years ago. Smoking lots of weed helped too.....
