441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 17, 2014, 03:34:26 PM
Hey guys, here is the new tool I've developped to check the stats of all of my mining addresses on middlecoin. Just enter your addresses (one line by address) and let's go.

http://stratehm.net

BTW: it would be nice if you would also add "Total:" for BTC and Hash graph/data; I know that a Total BTC (immature+unexchanged+balance) is only aproximate, but it would still be nice to see a value and line for that, too.

Nice work! I like that there are more and more utils for Middlecoin are built through community!

Out of pure curiosity I've done some "statistical analysis" on the last 24 hours for one of my miners (3,5 Mh/s @ EU server). Anyway, if anybody is interested: in the past 24 hours we switched coins more then 1500 times (OK, sometimes only difficulty changes while coin stays the same) ... yes, middlecoin indeed is a fast coin switching pool ... oh, and we've been mining LTC for almost 4 hours (in total) for the last 24 hours. Not giving any comments, just numbers:

edit: and 11 hours on DOGE Wink

Can we have the eu server and in fact all middlecoin servers listed in the first post of the thread ?

Sorry probably been asked, new to this.

Newbies, again, try to read this: http://middlecoin.kobal.org/

Are you guys using --failover-only in cgminer?

--failover-only: Don't leak work to backup pools when primary pool is lagging

The normal failover mechanism in cgminer will allow some work to go to the backup pools if there is a delay in getting work from the primary pool you have set. This can be as much as 10% if the pool has latency issues. It then only fails to the backup pool if the primary pool stops giving work for 1 minute. failover-only does not change the failover mechanism, but it does not allow work to go to the backup pools unless the primary pool has failed completely for at least a minute. It then will switch to the backup pool. If cgminer considers a pool dead or down, it tries to contact that pool 1 minutely.

If I have three middlecoin stratum servers defined as backup/failover servers, what would be the best? If I enable --failover-only and primary has some "minor" issues, then my workers wouldn't be "working" in the time of these "minor" issues. If I don't enable this, my workers will instantly failover to other middlecoin stratum servers, but since these might be mining different coins, shares would be lost? Is that correct? Any opinion?

The first thing that you have to do is to force gpus at a specific Powertune level. You won't hurt the cards, you will just draw some more power. Some cards are more efficient the the others at powertune level 0, but when you rise powertune to 10 or 20 the get equal. So, first thing to do is:

"gpu-powertune" : "10,10,10",

see what happens, then try also

"gpu-powertune" : "20,20,20",

And don't be afraid to do some overclocking ... E=1000 and M=1500 should run just fine at 880 kh/s.

Maybe, the faq could be made into a wiki? Then others can update it when new insights come up in this mega-thread.

I did this ... here it is: http://middlecoin.kobal.org ... anyone who is willing to contribute just pm me and I'll assign you a wiki account.

A couple of friends were asking me about how Middlecoin actually works and since I'm really tired of reading the posts with questions about design, profitability and all other information regarding Middlecoin I've put up an updated FAQ (shit, I'm doing h2o's work, will I get more coins? Wink ). You can see it here: http://middlecoin.kobal.org

All the newbies: PLEASE, read this document!

h20: I know you are probably in some jacuzzi for the whole day or maybe basking on some tropical island with your's $3000 per day (I'm not envy, you deserve it) ... but anyway, could you PLEASE, PLEASE, update your FAQ with this one? And could you PLEASE, PLEASE put it on top of your page (or even better, incorporate this design: http://rickardandersson.github.io/middlecoin)? THANK YOU!
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 09, 2014, 07:06:10 AM
I'm in central Europe and I have a 200ms ping to the stratum server, which is quite high. Where is the stratum server located (I hope it's not in "Western Samoa" Smiley )?

Further more, are there any general recommendations for cgminer settings regarding the pool (I'm not talking abut GPU settings, but settings that affects communication with the pool)? I know that we shouldn't use "--no-submit-stale", any other specific recommendation?
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 08, 2014, 02:24:55 PM
As per EUR or USD to GBP, yeah, I don't think there are any big enough BTC/GBP markets.
I've been looking at this the last few days and the cheapest solution I seemed to have found so far is:
1) trade out of BTC into EUR on Kraken for 0.2%
2) SEPA transfer to a EUR bank account in the UK
3) Use a cheap FX company to change into GBP (found these guys earlier: http://www.worldfirst.com/) and doesn't charge for transfers.

Sounds good no?

For all of you that are in the EU SEPA zone: use Bitstamp https://www.bitstamp.net ... fast, secure and easy to use with low fees.

Anyone else is having tons of unexchanged coins? Look at my status:

I'm on EU server. h2o, when do you plan to exchange all those coins?
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 07, 2014, 02:42:50 PM
The coin I am mining, I can make about 0.02 each 1mh every day, so I can compare.

Hmm, this must be a super-coin (if 0.02 / 1 mh is constant, not just peak) - can you share with us which coin would be that profitable?
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 07, 2014, 07:28:31 AM
Also, don't use --no-submit-stale. On any server. When we coin switch with the new non-disconnecting tech, cgminer thinks some shares are stale when they are not.

Thanks for this tip, a see that with your new code stales are successfully submited. h20, keep up the good work and show as some more programming masterpieces!
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 05, 2014, 07:56:51 PM
anyone knows alternatives to middlecoin?
hashcows (registration disabled) and
multipool (high stale shares cause of own P2Pool-script as far as i understood) already known
Coinwarz has a pool, but you'll be dead by the time you make it to the front of the registration queue.

But as far as I know the only ones with auto-trade to BTC are middlecoin and hashcows, isn't that right?
457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asrock 970 Extreme4, 4x R9 280X, 4x Powered Risers on: January 02, 2014, 03:27:13 PM
You should be very very careful with those powered x1-x16 risers ... These are no extra-quality cables, but merely quick&dirty china-hand-made cables. They requires very gentle handling - you shouldn't do any rolling or bending of the cables otherwise the cable and/or power connector might detach from the "extension slot". And one other thing to be very careful with x1-x16 risers -> if you are putting them into x16 slot you can easily insert it in the wrong direction - in this case it will burn the riser and if you are unlucky it might even burn the PCIe slot or the GPU. So, careful when using those risers!
