Hard to tell, I won 5 times in a row; but then again, I lost 5 times in a row as well. Wink

The overall balance is that I have lost much more than I have won.

I suppose this is not valid anymore?

Thanks for the reply. I disassembled the card and it turned out that the fan wasn't sitting properly in its place. I just pushed it back into its place!
445  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 01:40:57 AM
Where does mtgox display an IP address?  www.mtgox.com resolves to 74.52.143.58 which appears to be an ISP in Houston TX...

Because that's where the site is hosted, but the guy isn't a Texan.
So where did you get the IP address?

May I suggest you use Western Union ?
No risk of chargebacks.

Chargeback part is nice. But their fees are attrocious. Especially when do international payments.
We need to be able to accept amounts between 5 - 50 USD/EUR/GBP
And they don't seem to have an API to automate the payment process

What's wrong with Paypal (I know it's a silly question Smiley). Are you afraid of chargebacks or is there some other issue as well?
447  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 01:09:45 AM

As Justin whatever (that boy with funny hair, right?) ...

Not anymore; I've heard that he cut his hair and is going to put it out on sale (seriously).  Grin

I wonder does he accept Bitcoin.
448  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 01:07:54 AM

I think you are wrong here. Virtual goods do have monetary value in eyes of the law. And while I do not agree with casascius on everything on his post I do think that if no quick resolution, legal route is the most  reasonable thing to do. Though, for some people from other countries it might be difficult to understand how to do it and what are the implications.

A lawyer could help him without even needing to go a "legal route".  A lawyer's job isn't to sue, it's to communicate.  A lawyer could put his ramblings into some coherent form for the benefit of all of us, and if he's in the right, perhaps persuade Jed to change his mind.  In such a case it would be $200 well spent.  There's even a lawyer who takes BTC on the trade list.

Off-topic: I like your avatar. Wink

If you get a visit from the mib with a warrant and a penalty of jail for saying anything would you post on the forum ?

From what I know of, mtgox isn't American, so he wouldn't get any MIB visitors. At Europe investigation police wears jeans and jackets...

The US invaded panama for a reason . Also mt gox has a bank account at chase which is an american bank.

Jizzz man! You need to stop watching those movies! Or the aliens will pick you up for an anal probe! Tongue

You may find mtgox at Freenode #bitcoin-otc right now, the nick is at least parking there

The nick's there, but probably Agent Johnson is sitting by the keyboard.  Cool
450  Economy / Marketplace / Re: getting LR out of mtgox on: February 25, 2011, 12:49:02 AM
I just can't understand why people are still using Mt. Gox.
In my opinion bitcoinmarket is and was from beginning way better.

I only used mtgox twice in the paypal times. Then it was too much hassle with getting LR so I started using bitcoinmarket. Still using it.
451  Economy / Marketplace / Re: getting LR out of mtgox on: February 25, 2011, 12:44:53 AM
Wait... does the $1000 limit apply to bitcoins too?

Now I can't get btc out.  I thought the limit was just for $US->LR.  Maybe it is combined.

Makes it kind of hard to buy anything substantial with btc from your mtgox account.

It's the first time I hear of any BTC withdrawal limit.
452  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 12:43:56 AM
Jed is more than likely a busy man; he might not be addicted to this forum like some of us.
453  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 12:21:46 AM
Yes, he posted here already.

But not today?

No. I think everybody here's waiting for some words from him.

According to baron:
Quote
meet man in IRC who offer me to make deal, he send me ~9000$ BTC I send him ~3000$ liberty reserve (simple trade)
Guy in IRC sends money to: 1DVQEpTFjxYpZMVy4Bam9MCxeGEtmMmQCh (First seen: 2011-01-07)

Let's just name this address the "red wallet".

Red Wallet:
This is the wallet where scammer sent money.
Balance:
BTC: 9 506.33

Transactions:
2011-01-07 01:01:26 - 100 BTC (in) ------> Receives money from his green wallet Oooppss... we have a link!
2011-01-07 01:01:26 - 100 BTC (out) ----> Sends money to ?
2011-01-07 02:49:29 - 3134.8 BTC (in) ---> From scammer
2011-01-08 10:27:16 - 3174.6 BTC (in) ---> From scammer
2011-01-09 10:47:30 - 3096.9 BTC (in) ---> From scammer

Green Wallet:
This address was used to receive money from mtgox. It first appeared a day before the 9000 btc transaction that came into the red wallet. This confirms the story so far.
Balance:
BTC: 4 692.64

Transactions:
2011-01-06 23:57:14 - 0.05 BTC (in) ----> The free money faucet probably
2011-01-07 00:55:03 - 100 BTC (in) -----> From mtgox I assume.
2011-01-07 01:01:26 - 100 BTC (out) ----> Test spend to the red wallet Oooppss... we have a link!
2011-01-07 01:20:01 - 120 BTC (in) -----> From mtgox?
2011-01-07 01:35:57 - 3057.6 BTC (in) ---> From mtgox?
2011-01-20 22:02:26 - 400 BTC (in) ------> From mtgox?
2011-01-22 11:25:47 - 1015 (in) --------> From mtgox?

Now that it's obvious and crystal clear how mtgox linked those account, the first question that comes to my mind is, why is the trade transactions with guy on IRC spread accross 3 different days? Did you not trade it all at once? And if not, you must have gone back to the IRC channel at least 2 times, correct?

If you had to go back to IRC twice after the first trade, how is it possible to not remember either:
1. Channel name
2. Your nick
3. Scammers nick

And why is there absolutely no browser history from 7th of January 2011 that you can use to refresh your lost memory?

I don't understand what you trying to say about this your statistic, can you explain?

What problem you see in here? ofcourse after I created my address I tested it by sending my own money to it, where is problem?

small correction I have total 14 000 BTC in main bitcoin client.

He says that you accepted those ~ 9000BTC in chunks and it took three days, so how come you do not remember who sent them to you. You must have been communicating with the seller within the time of the three transactions, right?
455  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 24, 2011, 11:54:01 PM
This whole thing amazes me.

If I lost an honest $45,000 to MtGox, I would be the first to find an attorney and start with the legal guns blazing.  Assuming I had $45k to blow around on BTC in the first place.  Someone who is resourceful enough to have $45k for Bitcoins is probably resourceful enough to engage counsel in a foreign jurisdiction when the law is on their side.  I wouldn't even dream of coming to a forum and trying to argue a case that big...

...unless I had stolen the money and had no other options.

You are forgetting, that for Baron 45,000 USD is nearly nothing. Wink

I never said that.

Quote from: Baron
why I deposited "so much" to mtgox.com account?
I don't think that it's "very much" .  How you imagine trading? trading with 100 USD or 1000 USD, how much you will earn profit from such trading portfolio? 10 or 100 USD per month . Maybe it's big sum for you, maybe you live somewhere in africa , where peoples  lifes from 100 USD per month? I focus on big profit, I don't waste time with dealing with small portfolio, because it's time wasting. I better go for walk with my girlfriend.

Let me see them;

Mt Gox or someone close to him has been scammed.
They flag some hashes of that scam and got on a service like block explorer waiting for it to be moved. They notice the movement and cross data with BTC Addresses on their database. Found the BTC was moved to Baron's address and jumped on him.

Am I close to the truth?!

If this is the case it is very damaging.

As you said, without any reaction from mtgox we can only guess what's going on.

+1 on what you said about his PR skills.
