I'd say the best way to get results is through PayPal on the phone - it is the best way to get their attention and it gets results.  Oh, and they always side with the buyer.
444  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Do we know how to get 3MH per $1.00 yet? on: August 02, 2011, 03:57:35 PM
good luck finding any 5850 cards these days.

Only a few left - but they are in stock:

Hmm...I wonder why they still haven't fixed the listing...sounds like this company is going on my blacklist.
446  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 4870x2 vs 5870 on: July 29, 2011, 08:58:34 PM
This post should explain how to get your second core up to speed.  I don't, however, have an answer about why it is slower than the 5870.
447  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Dual GPUS, 100% CPU Usage. Windows Only Problem? on: July 29, 2011, 03:16:49 PM
I have seen 100% cpu on ubuntu using 2 gpus - but ONLY when I changed to 11.7 drivers.  I reverted back to 11.6 and things work great again.
448  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: More cheap 5830's. Real site or a scam? on: July 28, 2011, 12:55:03 PM
From wikipedia:

In 2006, McAfee conducted a survey in which they claim out of the 95 percent most trafficked web sites, .tk domains were twice as likely as the global average to be used for "unwanted behaviors", including scams such as phishing and spam.

For anyone still in doubt, I can confirm that it is, indeed, a SCAM.

We're currently about to close the sale of a whole first batch of devices to a private investor. We will be required not to duplicate the device for at least 3 years. Sorry guys. We will eventually refund all the people who sent the 5 btc within 48 hours.
And just last night he sent me an email:
Quote
Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to write us an email.
We will have a couple devices left to sell.

Entry level device with 2 boards price breakdown :

Controller device $150.00
ASIC board $250.00 x 2
Shipment $50.00
Total $700

Full device with 10 boards price breakdown :

Controller device $150.00
ASIC board $250.00 x 10
Shipment $50.00
Total $2700

The case will be similar in size to a mid-tower standard PC and you will
be able to purchase 8 additional boards if you decide to go for the entry
level machine now, sorry to inform you that, in that case, there will be
one more charge of $50.00 for shipping.

In case you decide to go ahead please provide details of your order, your
full name, address and valid phone number along with the 5 btc transfer to
1FyZ3qU54jxU5tF2KHxHmnyjkAsdWuiyFr
We will let you know when the production have actually started both via
email and our blog.

Best Regards
Asicminer team
Now why would he be refunding 5 BTC back to everyone if he still has a couple to sell??  Undecided  Anyone who gave him 5 BTC - you will never see it again.  So don't hold out any hope.

That is very close to me but wow what a lot of scratch!

not considering that they're selling for up to $1300 on ebay.

Yeah, if I knew someone nearby I'd have them buy them and ship them to me but I don't have the luxury...

Just an FYI for those Canadians looking for some 6990s.

The online store - memoryexpress.com - only shows 1 in stock (they only ship to Canada) but the Edmonton North store shows 4 in stock.  Wink

456  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need to buy BTC via paypal on: June 30, 2011, 04:30:54 AM
Yes, PayPal sadly is on the buyer's side much more than the seller - and they probably wouldn't even understand if someone tried to explain bitcoins in a dispute.
457  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YOU BASTARDS YOU MADE ME KILL KENNY(NVIDIA) on: June 30, 2011, 04:27:07 AM
Yeah, I recently invested in an nvidia card - but now that I've discovered bitcoin I'm eager to swap it out.  Been looking everywhere for (well priced) 5850s or 6990s to no avail...
458  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining process query on: June 30, 2011, 04:24:42 AM
I don't see a point to keeping track of failed attempts - the likelihood of a repeat is very very small.
