441  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SELLING 25 BTC PAYPAL ACCEPTED (50 cents under spot) on: January 01, 2013, 05:36:41 PM
I already said i didnt want it tied up for hours.

You realize that in the time it took you to argue that you didn't want to tie it up for hours with an escrow you could have used an escrow and had the money to pay the bookie? No one was trying to delay you, they're just trying to be safe with their money. You were asking them to send a lot of cash to you in good faith that you'd keep up your end of the bargain with nothing to base that faith on.

It's all good! I know how busy the holidays can be, lol.
443  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain safe? on: December 30, 2012, 08:35:40 PM
I wouldn't keep that large of an amount of BTC in any online wallet. I would use a site like bitaddress to make an offline paper wallet to store any BTC that's not currently being used.

I use the Blockchain app for transactions and I feel perfectly safe doing that, but I've never had more than $100 worth of BTC on it at a time. It's good if you're on the go or making sales, but not as a "savings" wallet.

I sent you a reply, but the message system was kind of confusing in terms of trying to confirm that it sent. Let me know if you didn't get it and I'll try again, or I can post the details here.
445  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] NES w/five games on: December 29, 2012, 04:46:16 PM
I would take that price if you can ship it to Canada, I would like to use escrow too.

I'm willing to ship to Canada, but I might have to increase the shipping cost if it's more expensive than I originally quoted. Let me weigh the NES and everything with it so I can get an exact shipping quote for Canada. Which part of Canada are you located in?

If any trusted escrows are reading this, please post and let us know if you're willing to offer your services for this transaction.

Updated first post with a mention that I'm willing to use a trusted escrow for added security if needed.

Thanks! Smiley

I just want to make sure I don't break any rules. Are we allowed to bump our marketplace listings at all? Any restrictions to bumping if it is allowed?

Thanks!

I messed up with the sockpuppet routine I will give you that much ok?
I just new that I would get a reception just like the one I'm getting now if I didn't employ some "creative marketing"

All I need is one user with $.99 worth of bitcoins to buy something and let the rest of the world know how there service went so that others will get the idea that this is really not a scam.

One man's "creative marketing" is another man's "fraud." Taking your service at face value is a little risky, since you are asking people to give you money on the hope that you'll come through for them. You have to expect that some people will be wary of that until it is proven. All your "creative marketing" has shown is that you have some degree of ethical flexibility in trying to build a web of trust based on lies; that alone may have scared anyone who was willing to be the first customer off. Honesty may not have gotten you a warm reception of customers, but it would have been a good first step in showing that your service is on the level.

I'm not trying to be mean, so I apologize if it seems that way. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you are sincerely trying to start up a legitimate business, so I'll repeat the advice of our fellow BitCoiners: try starting with a trusted escrow to build your consumer-base and web of trust, and one day you may not need one (an escrow, that is).

And this may be nitpicking on my part, but I would also suggest you proofread your posts for spelling errors. Presentation is a big part of business, and an extra minute taken to present a professional image can help make a big difference.

If you are on the level, then hopefully admitting to the sock-puppet routine will show that you're trying to do things right. Just remember that asking people to part with their money is no small thing Wink

Sorry to be unpolite at christmas and all, but what you are offering is a pyramid scheme as you are admitting yourself.

And a happy new year to you

Beat me to it.
451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Obtaining bulk anonymous bitcoins, since bitinstant no longer offers anonymity? on: December 28, 2012, 03:44:44 PM
Bitinstant use to be the go-to method, with their cash bank deposits it was possible to be anonymous and make up to $2,000-$3,000 in deposits aday, but now they have stripped away their anonymity and no longer offer such an option.

Is there any other anonymous services that don't have a bitcoin limit that have replaced bitinstant's changes?

Hey,

Our limits never changed (2k) per day, and your transaction is still private.

The name and DOB requirement is just to check against an offline list we have to make sure you are not a terrorist or on the OFAC list

Thanks

Just out of curiosity (it wouldn't stop me from using your service), are those requirements due to the PATRIOT act? We have to do that where I work as well for that reason.

Yup! They threatened to put me in jail if we don't do it  Sad

Bummer. But kudos to you for your professionalism! Wink

453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using Bitcoins for Amazon purchases on: December 28, 2012, 04:00:54 AM
Very interesting concept, but I would rather wait for it to be tested before I put my Bit in it.....
That sounded a lot more sexual than I intended >.>;
454  Economy / Goods / [Closed] NES w/five games on: December 27, 2012, 05:27:54 PM
I've got an original NES and a few games that I'm looking to sell (the good ol' fashioned grey brick one). It's been safely stored unused for quite a while now, so I figured I might as well give it a home where it'll get some use.

The NES has a replacement 72 pin, so it'll last for a good long time. It also has two NES controllers and the original Nintendo Zapper. The games that I'll include with it are:
Super Mario/Duck Hunt
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Metroid
Castlevania

All of the games, except for Castlevania, have been professionally cleaned and shouldn't have any problems. The battery in Legend of Zelda had to be replaced when I bought the game, so it will be able to save for another 10-25 years. Zelda II's battery was fine when I bought it, so I don't know how much longer it has before it will need to be replaced (the person I bought it from never said whether or not it had been replaced already).

I'll sell the NES and the games for 4.5 BTC + 1 BTC to cover the cost of shipping. I usually use Fed-Ex for my shipping since it tends to be a bit cheaper and a day faster. I will, of course, provide tracking information to the buyer.

PM me with any questions about the system, or if you wish to see any pictures.

EDIT: After looking in a different topic, I figured that it would be a good idea to add in that I'm willing to use a trusted escrow for this listing for anyone who wants an added layer of security.

455  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What software is best for my tax preparation business? on: December 27, 2012, 05:23:00 AM
What kind of tax returns will you be preparing? How many clients do you expect to have? And what kind of budget will you be working with? If you're doing taxes for compensation, most professional program will be a bit pricy.
456  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: OTC rating? on: December 27, 2012, 02:41:47 AM
It's the Web of trust Infrastructure used by bitcoin-otc.

bitcoin-otc.com/trust.php

bitcoin-otc.com

the links above will give you everything you need.  My book walks you though some of it step by step [see signature if interested].

You wrote that book? I have that on my Amazon wishlist, lol! I plan on buying it in the next day or so!

Thanks for the info everyone!
457  Other / Beginners & Help / OTC rating? on: December 26, 2012, 10:57:46 PM
I see a lot of people mention OTC when referring to someone selling an item for BitCoin. I know it's some sort of merchant rating system, but that's about it. Is it a website that gives the rating or something?
458  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitCoin apps for iPhone? (without jailbreaking) on: December 24, 2012, 01:54:09 AM
Blockchain.info has a great iOS app.  I believe it is just called blockchain in the app store.  Just don't forget your password... Blockchain.info stores your wallet encrypted and if you lose the password nobody can recover your bitcoins (but it's also impossible for blockchain.info to steal them since the password is only ever handled on the client side).

I believe that blockchain.info has now removed the wallet feature because of issues with Apple, and now only offers a transaction ticker, so this app is no longer very useful.

Wallet feature on mine seems to be working without a problem. Is it a recent update to the app?
459  Economy / Economics / Re: Has the 'Bitcoin Experiment' changed your political or economic views at all? on: December 23, 2012, 11:28:52 PM
To me, BitCoin is still very much in its infancy and has a lot of hurdles to jump over. My political views are unchanged despite my interest in the currency.

What I'm really paying attention to is BitCoin economics. Trying to see what kind of future the currency has.
460  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: <Bounty> 1 BTC for the least worded T-Shirt on: December 23, 2012, 08:01:11 PM
This probably won't work for you since it's a bit more slogan/motto-y than what I think you're looking for, but I figured I'd toss it in anyways.
