442  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-07] Bitcoin Goes Parabolic, Blows Past $14,000 to Post $2,500 Single Da on: December 07, 2017, 09:19:03 AM
Today Bitcoin surged past the $14,000 level, topping out at $14,400 for a $2,500 gain in a single day. This makes today the largest one-day gain in the history of the currency. To put it in perspective, today Bitcoin’s price increased by more twice as much as it’s 2013 all-time high of $1,100. A single Bitcoin can now buy more than 11 ounces of pure gold.

It’s about the futures, baby

The price is likely being driven by news of the imminent launch of Bitcoin futures trading. CBOE will be launching their futures market this coming Sunday, December 10, with CME Group following on December 18. Nasdaq plans to launch futures trading in the summer of 2018 and Japan’s Tokyo Financial Exchange is preparing to launch futures trading as well.

Bloomberg has announced that brokerage firms TD Ameritrade and Ally Invest will be offering Bitcoin futures trades to their clients. Even J.P. Morgan Chase may follow suit, despite CEO Jamie Dimon’s infamous views on the digital currency.

GDAX leading
GDAX, Coinbase’s digital currency exchange, has been leading the rally all day. The price on GDAX is currently about $500 ahead of other Western Bitcoin exchanges. The likeliest - and most bullish - explanation is that Coinbase is the easiest way for new Bitcoin investors to get involved. Consequently, when GDAX leads the charge as it has today, it probably means new “retail” investors are fueling the rally.

443  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-07] Surf Air Joins the Growing List of Private Airlines Accepting BTC on: December 07, 2017, 08:50:59 AM
These days bitcoiners can do a whole lot more with their ‘digital gold’ as there’s a broad range of merchants opting to accept bitcoin every day. Now this week one of the leading “All-You-Can Fly” air travel providers, Surf Air, has announced it is accepting bitcoin and ethereum for monthly memberships and charters.

Surf Air: “It Only Makes Sense That We Would Accept Bitcoin as a Progressive Form of Payment

The Silicon Valley-based air travel provider, Surf Air, is now accepting the cryptocurrencies bitcoin and ethereum for services. This means Surf Air members can use their digital assets for a wide range of flights. Within the U.S., Surf Air customers can fly to 70 destinations in California and 30 daily routes that fly to Texas. Further, the charters fly to Europe as well, to places like London, Zurich, and Ibiza. The firm explains that moving towards cryptocurrencies is a “natural progression” for the firm.

“Surf Air was built on the idea of disrupting and changing the way the world sources, purchases and accesses air travel so it only makes sense that we would also be on the cutting-edge of accepting disruptive and progressive forms of payment such as bitcoin and ethereum,” explains Sudhin Shahani, the chief executive officer of Surf Air.

"Similarly, bitcoin users are a tremendously motivated community of early adopters. By creating connective tissue between these forward-thinking business models, I believe we’re molding the future for consumer-first, experience-driven commerce."

Digital Currency Is On Everyone’s Radar

Surf Air is one of the first firms to establish the monthly subscription flight sharing model, and cryptocurrencies can be used for any one of the four tiers of membership. The airline company will be utilizing the San Francisco based Coinbase for its merchant services.

“We are focused on staying on the bleeding edge of technology as a way to provide the most progressive, secure and efficient air travel in the world. Digital currency has been on our radar from the very beginning, and we are excited to provide our members with another quick and seamless way to do business with Surf Air,” Shahani details during the announcement.

Real Estate, Lamborghinis, and Private Jets, Oh My!

Surf Air joins the growing list of other airlines offering services for bitcoin like the personal private jet provider Tapjets. The Fargo-based Tapjets started accepting bitcoins through its iPhone app this past summer. Further, the airline provider Privatefly has been accepting bitcoin for flights since 2014. Additionally, news.Bitcoin.com reported this past October that the firm Star Jets now accepts the cryptocurrency as well. With the ability to purchase real-estate, Lamborghinis, and private flights — Bitcoin is being taken very seriously these days.

444  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-06] NYSE Owner: We Aren’t Rushing Toward Bitcoin, Yet on: December 06, 2017, 06:32:18 PM
The owner of the world’s largest stock exchange does not believe it is wise to race to be the first U.S. exchange to list bitcoin futures contracts.

Over the past several months, exchange operators have been rushing to bring the first regulated bitcoin futures contracts to market. Chicago-based CME Group appeared to have the early edge, and last week it announced it had received approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to list bitcoin futures on December 18.

However, fellow Chicago exchange Cboe stole CME’s thunder, because on Monday it announced it had filed a product certification with the CFTC to begin bitcoin futures trading this Sunday. Nasdaq, the world’s second-largest stock exchange, is also reportedly planning to launch bitcoin contracts on its futures exchange during the first or second quarter of 2018.

The rush to launch bitcoin-derived products signals that cryptocurrency is well on its way to permeating the mainstream financial industry, but at least one exchange operator is hesitant to list products for this emerging asset class.

“We may be stupid for not being first on that, Intercontinental Exchange Inc. (ICE) Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Sprecher told a financial conference in New York earlier this week, according to a Reuters report.

ICE owns and operates dozens of exchanges, most notably the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), whose market cap is three times as large as that of the Nasdaq.

But although Sprecher said ICE may be “stupid” for taking a wait-and-see approach to bitcoin futures, he said that it was too risky to be the first to bring such an untested product to market.

“We didn’t think it was obvious to rush out a product and be first and settle against an index on a lot of exchanges that are not particularly transparent,”  Sprecher said, adding that he feared that bitcoin sellers would use the futures as an opportunity to manipulate the market and exit large positions, a scenario that would reflect poorly on exchanges that list bitcoin futures.

“To short that would mean that they have decided to exit and through a legitimate, high-standing, regulated venue, they are exiting, and I look at that and just say, is that going to work out well for me as a venue?”

Despite these concerns, many people believe that the launch of bitcoin futures will lend bitcoin legitimacy in the eyes of both institutional and retail investors, leading to the creation of the first Bitcoin ETF, as well as other bitcoin investment products wrapped in familiar packages.

445  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-06] Mexican Lawmakers Advance Bill to Regulate Bitcoin, Fintech Firms on: December 06, 2017, 04:06:34 PM
The upper chamber of Mexico's national legislature has approved a financial technology bill that would bring local bitcoin exchanges under the oversight of the central bank.

According to Reuters, the bill cleared the Mexican Senate on Dec. 5, setting the stage for its consideration and potential passage in the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the legislature. Citing sources familiar with the process, Reuters reported that the bill is expected to clear the Chamber of Deputies on Dec. 15.

As previously reported, the measure, as currently written, would clarify that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not legal tender in Mexico. Further, exchanges and other companies that handle cryptocurrencies would be officially regulated by the Banco de Mexico, Mexico's central bank.

The goal of the change is to provide legal clarity for companies, including those working with bitcoin, that are creating new kinds of products and services.

Yet, as Reuters highlights, the finer details of the bill are still being ironed out, as so-called secondary laws are expected to further build on the measure.

Statements from officials at the Banco de Mexico offer insight into how the central bank might go about regulating cryptocurrencies. Earlier this year, Agustin Carstens, the institution's governor, was quoted by local media as saying that bitcoin should be considered more akin to a commodity than a currency.

In mid-2014, the Banco de Mexico moved to prohibit banks in the country from directly handling bitcoin.

Some dude left his report for signature campaign called "week 5". I`m little bit confused with his post, the last week noted in the spreadsheet was "week 4", and after it just 4 days left.

Signature bounty "Week 5" and rewards for it really exist? The only second additional goal i knew, was to achieve 50 posts by the end of the campaign to be eligible for reward.

https://beta.edgeless.io/ is not responding. But EDG token still worth 0.7 USD, which is very impressive, taking into account market chaos on the market. But problems with licensing sooner or later will again reflect on token price. I can`t figure out, what were Edgeless or Patientory companies thinking when they had started their crowdfunding. They have different business areas, but both have endless problems with licensing.
450  Local / Токены / Re: [ANN][ICO] SKINCOIN - Криптовалюта для eSPORTS on: November 30, 2017, 10:34:23 AM

he price of the coin today is pleased $0.018222 (+53.06%) have some news?

That's a very small, small price, compared to the value during ICO- 0.025$. If someone just leave his money for holding in Bitcoin, they could rise 3 times, in ETH - 30% during a half year. What was a point to participate in this ICO, look, they just hooked us with  pretty gun`s and girls pictures during ICO.

453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 30, 2017, 09:41:10 AM
I don`t want anything to do with Ethereum in the nearest future. When most of top altcoin gained profit up 2x, especially Bitcoin and Dash, Etherium looks too heavy and unwieldy for pump, but dumps very easy. Yesterday's events highlighted it`s total dependence from Bitcoin.

Please provide ETH adress, where one can see how much ETH were raised during pre sale period. Because, It`s hard to find this information on your site. On the contrary, very important to spread information about crowdfunding progress.

It is the first fully french design project in my memory. I read the whitepaper, it`s full of complex technical terms, what is hard to understand for general investor. But, quite important that project was founded by traders, who has experience in banking asset management, such people already has background in operating with client`s money, without loosing assets.

i think OMG is DEAD

No way, OMG is alive, healthy, strong cryptocurrency. Even in this bitcoin hype, it holds strong positions between 7-8$, and has a great potential to rise at the very end of 2017, after Etherium, Monero and Dash will be finished in their pumping.
