http://observer.com/2015/02/bitcoin-crime-wave-breaks-out-in-nyc/  damn.... stay safe guys!

"A New York City firefighter named Dwayne Richards was recently held up, stabbed and robbed by thieves who were after his bitcoin, the Observer has learned. From what we’ve discovered, Mr. Richards—who is a firefighter in lower Manhattan—was mugged and left bleeding after meeting the robbers under the pretense of exchanging bitcoin for cash in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He’s alive, well, and refusing comment.

"

Edit for clarification: Be careful meeting anyone and doing business with them, especially if they know you carry large amounts of value on your person, be it BTC/Money/Material items.

Hackers didn't think like us ;
` Everything was made up by people that were no smarter than you ` ; Then you can understand that hacking bitcoin
who was mading by Satoshi is not impassible  . Everything is exploitable else God .

Everything is exploitable including the god , people use god's name to do bad things that's exploiting
Anyways You just need to follow some steps to keep yourself safe from these hacks--

1. Always keep most of your coins in a safe wallet in a different pc w/o net connection
2. keep changing the password of the hot wallet and avoid clicking unneccessary links
3. Do not keep your coins in exchange , no matter what insurance they provide , trade it and get it out
4. Do not trust ANYONE

These are the basic rules, but I would like to know how much person "are following"these simple rules. I think only the 60-70 % of who have some coins (bitcoin or altcoin).
4402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is too complex for the average person on: February 24, 2015, 10:32:54 AM
More people need to learn about what BTC is instead of just being told to start using it.

Yes this is obvious, but there are a lot of people that have never used a smartphone or "surfed" in the web and also there are some people never used a credit card or debit card.
4403  Other / New forum software / Re: New forum - Smiley ? on: February 24, 2015, 09:30:35 AM
I "like" the idea but not at 100%,  but maybe it is better only to add a new ones like (and not change them) :

, and this list : http://www.katzy.dsl.pipex.com/C.htm
4404  Economy / Gambling / Re: So so so so so close on: February 24, 2015, 09:22:38 AM
I suggest you to stop for 1-2 days,  take a rest and think "about" your bitcoin maybe it is not better to gamble them. What do you think? At the end all you know it is only a question of luck.

Gambling is the only fun I have with bitcoins. If I only cashed out when I made a little profit. I'll listen to your advice to take 1-2 days and think about what I just did. I'll probably gamble at primedice again but never will I ever not withdraw when I make a profit.

Well done, it is better for you to stop a "couple of days". Think about your situation and after choose if you want gamble or not ( I suggest you : no).
4405  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [Primedice.com] 0.03 BTC Each Giveaway on: February 24, 2015, 09:19:51 AM
Received the 0.03 btc , thanks Stunna !
4406  Other / Meta / Re: It seem i found a bug ? on: February 24, 2015, 09:14:58 AM
Its the "code" environment. It allows long lines without a linebreak and will mess with the layout.

Yes , the cause is the [code tag]. I think it could be possible to fix it, but maybe theymos didn't notice it or it is not a -"primary" problem.
4407  Economy / Economics / Re: could OP-RETURN, metadata and the blockchain be more valuable than BTC ? on: February 24, 2015, 06:24:18 AM
I think the blockchain is the 60-70% of the value of bitcoin (as currency) but I do not know if this percentual will grow each day. We can't determine for sure, but all know that also if bitcoin will "die" the blockchain (modified) will rest for sure.
4408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is too complex for the average person on: February 24, 2015, 06:14:29 AM
As someone from you told, bitcoin is still a project/revolution and each day it will be more strong. As revolution isn't so simple, because a lot of person think that the FiAT values are better the bitcoin and we should try to change the "mind" of those person.
4409  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTER.com hacked - 7170 BTC stolen [DON'T KEEP YOUR MONEY ON AN EXCHANGE] on: February 24, 2015, 06:07:36 AM
Have they reenabled trading on the site or is it only for the withdrawls ?

They enabled neither trading nor withdrawals as of yet, sorry (just checked). And you can't deposit either, if you're curious.

All you can check is your balances of USD, CNY, and NXT. No other coin balances show up.

(Today) Has someone tried to request a withdrawal? This story is very insane, also about the deleted tweet (maybe they have made an error).

I've removed the negative feedback and I hope all the situation will be resolved in a "fair way". Good luck guys.

4413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Everything Be Decentralized? on: February 23, 2015, 01:38:27 PM
Maybe the anarchy is not so "bad" , the actual democracy (with this economic system) has failed. Bitcoin is a revolution and at the end I'm sure it will succeed. As MarihuanaStocks told (and this is true):

Democracy is a dictatorship of the majority and stands therefor diametrical opposed to any form of freedom, not to talk about any free decisions.
4414  Other / Meta / Re: Stolen account yussuf89 on: February 23, 2015, 12:46:06 PM
I think I proved that the actual owner of the account is me.
Theymos thinks that the account was hacked. But nobody can prove it.
I want to get my account. Please help.

Marcotheminer says he have the full control of it it now , nah ?
then all you need to do is repaying the loan to get the account back (unless it wasen't you who took the loan and it was the hacker then it's more complicated)

~ madness

I think he made it pretty clear someone hacked his account and took out the loan. Is that the whole point of this thread?

So at the end the solutions are two , zeki should repay the loan or marcotheminer "could" give back the account to zeki but he will lose the loan (0.32 btc if I'm not wrong). This is a very bad situation.
4415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacking,hacked,lost everywhere?!!!! on: February 23, 2015, 11:52:41 AM
Exchanges, hacked; funds, hacked; Gamebling sites, hacked; Personal wallet, hacked. There is no one that hacked can't hack.

Security is still the biggest stumbling to Bitcoin.

No you are wrong, bitcoin is secure the third part services like exchange, gambling site, etc... aren't secure. Please don't tell stupid things. Bitcoin is based on math, do you believe that math isn't strong now ? Think with your own head.
4416  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTER.com hacked - 7170 BTC stolen [DON'T KEEP YOUR MONEY ON AN EXCHANGE] on: February 23, 2015, 11:44:23 AM
This is strange, it seems that they have deleted this tweet :

Just for reference this is the tx id :  https://blockchain.info/tx/28b3009c7ad8898077b348a943a9c5d8187e1e53e85893d17999b9125bbbab10
4417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bter is back get your altcoins out! on: February 23, 2015, 11:38:44 AM
withdrawals are still disabled

Yes, this is their last tweet :

I don't know but the "costumers" should only wait, there isn't another option.
4418  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best escrow for bitcointalk accounts? on: February 23, 2015, 11:32:38 AM
I would recommend https://www.bitrated.com for that.

I also suggest to use bitrated, maybe these escrow should start to use it. It would be very helpful for all.

Intressting website
Do they have any official Announcement thread on the Bitcointalk forum ? Would like to read more about them

~ Madness

I've find these "official" threads :

- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=962605.0

Yes it is an interesting use of multisig, and it will help a lot of the trades here in the forum.

Pretty good idea Cyrus , I really like it .
Developpers could simply make each user group have it's own name color . Let's say Administrators Purple , Moderators Green , Staff Blue etc ..; that could solve the problem .

~ Madness

I also like this idea "the scheme of colors" for each rank. Why not each rank has a different color? from newbie member >> to staff member.
