4481  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I can not connect to the network. Wallet is not synchronized on: April 09, 2019, 03:14:23 AM
The above receive addresses are from: http ://blendergoyusuu6g.onion/blender.html <-WARNING! Probable SCAM LINK - Do not use!
I tried to contact the e-mail mailbox, but I never responded.
To the best of my knowledge... the only "official" BitBlender URL is: http://bitblendervrfkzr.onion/
Refer here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=436467.0

Looks like you may have sent coins to a fake "blender".

Also, It might simply be a matter that your Electrum version is too old. As per the notification on Electrum website, versions older than 3.3 will not be able to connect to Electrum servers:
Warning: Electrum versions older than 3.3 can no longer connect to public servers, and must be upgraded. This is in order to prevent user exposure to phishing messages. Do not download Electrum from any another source than electrum.org.

And the notification on Tails website:
Known issues
ELECTRUM IS OUTDATED AND CANNOT CONNECT TO SERVERS

Electrum in Tails cannot connect anymore to Electrum servers.

The version of Electrum in Tails is vulnerable to a phishing attack that tricks people in updating to a malicious version of Electrum which is not distributed from the official Electrum website.

You are safe unless you try to do the malicious update manually.

To prevent this phishing attack, all trustworthy Electrum servers now prevent older versions from connecting to them.

Unfortunately, newer versions of Electrum are not available in Debian and cannot be integrated easily in Tails. Given the lack of maintenance of Electrum in Debian, we are still assessing what is best to do in Tails.

Until then, your wallet is not lost and you can restore it from its seed using an up-to-date version of Electrum outside of Tails.

There are some instructions for getting version 3.3.4 to work with Tails here: https://blog.thestever.net/2019/02/26/upgrading-electrum-on-tails-to-3-3-4/
4482  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Remove TX(!!!) on: April 09, 2019, 02:48:09 AM
It's just a sync error... It's also possible that a server you were connected to was lagging, so it didn't know about your transaction... hence why it was marked as "local"... as your wallet was unable to confirm that the transaction had been broadcast.

Once you are able to get connected and synced, the transaction status should update correctly. Have you tried manually connecting to different servers to try and find one that works?
4483  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: strange issue with electrum wallet on: April 09, 2019, 02:43:51 AM
I had a previous version of electrum and did a transaction. Same wallet is installed on two devices. Now the wallet dose not sync plus one of the addresses is empty( ON both devices it is not syncing).  When i check all addresses in the blockchain they have their required balances but one address has been cleaned out. And no I did not download from a suspicious site a new electrum wallet. But Did so from the official website. And If I had downloaded from a suspicious site my wallet would have been empty now. But ONLY one address has been cleaned out.
Have you actually verified the digital signatures of the wallet installer files? If you haven't, then you cannot be sure you did not download a malware version of the wallet... there are literally scores of posts in the Electrum from users who swear that they "downloaded only official Electrum" from "official website"... and then say they are running "latest version 4.0.0" Roll Eyes

Quote
I fail to understand how that can happen.
Without knowing the specifics, it could be one of several reasons:
- Hacker just took the largest amount, couldn't be bothered with your dust
- Your wallet wasn't created from a seed, and is a collection of individual private keys and only one of them has been compromised
- The coins in that address were simply used in a transaction that you forgot about, so were spent by you, but that transaction doesn't show up in your wallet because it won't sync

I'd recommend:
1. Verify the digital signatures of your Electrum installer
2. Try manually switching servers in Electrum until you find one you can connect to and sync your wallet... until it's synced properly, it will probably be very difficult to figure out what exactly has happened.
4484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Could someone people help me understand what is going on? Many thanks! on: April 09, 2019, 02:30:12 AM
This is what happened:
Bitpay's invoice has an expiration of 15 minutes
Correct

Quote
... and their default speed tx requires 6 confirmations.
Now, your transaction was initiated (blockchain.com time) at 2019-04-07 11:22:22 and got confirmed after 12minutes, add 50 minutes for the next to sixth confirmation, that makes 62 minutes which is way past the invoice.
https://bitpay.com/docs/create-invoice#expi
Don't know how can they accept 6 confirmations within 15minutes but that's what written here.
They don't... and that isn't what it says. It says the invoice, by default, is valid for 15 minutes.

But they don't require it to be confirmed within that timeframe... they simply require that you broadcast the transaction within 15 minutes... as long as their node sees your transaction in the mempool within the 15 minute window, it will mark it as "pending"... even if it takes another 2 hours to get 6 confirmations. It just won't confirm the payment as being completed with the vendor until your transaction gets 6 confirmations.

Hi there.  I never tried this but you could turn on your ledger nano s by itself while not having it plugged into anything?  Example press a button on it right now while its not plugged into anything and you can enter a pin?

What do you mean use it by using a usb charger?
As TryNinja said, it needs power... instead of connecting to the computer, you can connect a Ledger to any 5V USB power source (like a usb charger) and it will power up... if the device is uninitialised, it will commence the initialisation procedure... you don't need a computer or Ledger Live or whatever to do this. If it is initialised, you can enter your PIN and select apps that are already installed.

Note however, that you WILL still need to connect it to Ledger Live to be able to install the coin apps like Bitcoin, BTG, and the "Recovery Check" app in the first place.

You seem like a VERY paranoid individual that seems to overthink everything... so I was simply suggesting a way for you to use the "Recovery Check" app that might help reduce the paranoia...

1. Install "Recovery Check" using Manager in Ledger Live
2. Disconnect Ledger device from computer
3. Connect Ledger device to a USB charger
4. Enter PIN
5. Select "Recovery Check" app on Ledger Device
6. Follow the instructions

The only way your seed will be compromised is if someone watches over your shoulder as you manually enter the words.

Quote
But there has been no cases where typing it in recovery key while using ledger live there was an issue right?
You don't type the recovery key into Ledger Live... you enter the recovery key on the device using the buttons to scroll and select (just like you do when you need to restore the device if you wipe it)... again, you don't have to have the device connected to a computer or Ledger Live to run the "Recovery Check" app on the device... you simply need to have the "Recovery Check" app already installed and for the device to have power (again, any 5V USB power source will work).

To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever posted a claim that their seed was stolen after using the "recovery check" app...
4486  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Multiple Qs prompted by the phishing attack re opsec/vulnerability on: April 09, 2019, 02:03:27 AM
Yeah... exactly. You're relying on the malware makers to be very lazy and implement a very simple and "immediate" attack. A "delayed" attack will certainly defeat that setup.

Encrypting the wallet files (possibly with different passwords) and checking/verifying the digital signatures of downloaded installers is really the best form of defense.
4487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why doesn't Bitcoin-core Wallet app transmit payment? on: April 09, 2019, 01:54:31 AM
My wallet is indeed a bitcoin-core but not the concept that you have fixed on it, for your clarity mine is a "Bitcoin-core wallet app" as I mentioned from the beginning.
No, it doesn't look like your image. Mine looks completely different.
I downloaded it from "https://bitcoin.org" ... wallet ... mobile
This image is exactly the wallet from which I have been asking for help;
it is simply a Bitcoin-core wallet app that works on smartphone with android operating system.
Then you do NOT have a "Bitcoin Core" wallet... "Bitcoin Core" refers specifically to ONE wallet... it is a full node client and it does NOT run on mobile phones.

What you have downloaded is a mobile wallet application for your phone, created by an independent application developer and most likely has no relationship with the "Bitcoin Core" project... Available here: https://bitcoin.org/en/wallets/mobile/android/bitcoinwallet/

This particular wallet is also known as "Bitcoin Wallet for Android": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet

Quote
It's been 23 days without having my BTC, please can you certainly help in solving the problem? or do you know anyone who wants to help? Thank you very much for everything.
Ok... knowing it is Bitcoin Wallet for Android, we can try some things... have you tried refreshing the wallet using: "Settings -> Diagnostics -> Reset block chain"

Also, have you made a backup of your wallet file using: "Safety -> Backup wallet"? Huh

Edit: note that you can always import your bitcoin wallet seed (a list of 12 words you're given when you install the app) to another bitcoin wallet so you don't have to use that particular one.
That won't work with Bitcoin Wallet for Android... it uses (encrypted) wallet file back-ups... not 12 word seed mnemonics. However, if you have the encrypted backup file and know the encryption password, there are scripts which will decrypt the wallet file and show you the seed mnemonic contained in it.
4488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why doesn't Bitcoin-core Wallet app transmit payment? on: April 08, 2019, 04:55:34 AM
Fortunately bitcoin-core wallet app has an excellent alternative to do it and is "Convert Paper Portfolio", as simple as receiving but in essence different.
I'm beginning to think you are not actually using "Bitcoin Core", because "Bitcoin Core" does not have any "Convert Paper Portfolio" function!!?! Huh

Does your wallet look anything like this:

Or does it look different? Where did you download this wallet from?
4489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why doesn't Bitcoin-core Wallet app transmit payment? on: April 08, 2019, 04:25:09 AM
Are you able to take a screenshot and post it to an image hosting service (like imgur etc)? That message is not one that I'm familiar with Bitcoin Core displaying...

Did you attempt to sweep some coins from a Paper Wallet into your Bitcoin Core wallet? If so, how did you try and sweep the paper wallet? Did you try and use the "Receive" tab? Huh

4490  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Multiple Qs prompted by the phishing attack re opsec/vulnerability on: April 08, 2019, 04:09:03 AM
What steps should i take so in the future should i install a corrupted version of electrum client that only the contents of the active seed/wallet would be lost, not other wallets on the same device?
IE:
Electrum client (corrupted)>>
-wallet0 (old) >BTC(spent, dust, unimportant)
-Wallet1(ACTIVE) >BTC (stolen)
-Wallet2 >BTC (safe)
-Wallet3 >BTC (safe)
-Wallet4 >BTC (safe)
-Wallet5 >BTC (safe)
.......
.....

^^ is that possible? What steps do i have to take?
I think I understand what you're saying... you're wanting each Electrum instance to only have access to ONE wallet file... so if you accidentally update with a "BadElectrum"™, only the contents of that one wallet will be at risk...

If you are on Windows and use the "Installer" or "Standalone" versions... then no, it will store your wallet files in your "%AppData%/Electrum/wallets" folder... However, if you use the "portable" version, it looks for (and/or creates) a "wallets" sub-folder in the folder where you execute the .exe from...

So... if you created a random directory somewhere... ie. "SuperSecretElectrumFolder"... and then created subdirectories for each wallet... and put a unique copy of the portable .exe in those subdirectories, it would essentially do what you're looking for.

Starting with:
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet1\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet2\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet3\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe
...
C:\MyElectrumFolder\walletX\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe

After running each portable.exe and creating a wallet, you would then end up a folder structure like this:
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet1\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet1\wallets
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet1\wallets\default_wallet

C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet2\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet2\wallets
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet2\wallets\default_wallet

C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet3\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet3\wallets
C:\MyElectrumFolder\wallet3\wallets\default_wallet

...

C:\MyElectrumFolder\walletX\electrum-3.3.4-portable.exe
C:\MyElectrumFolder\walletX\wallets
C:\MyElectrumFolder\walletX\wallets\default_wallet

When you run any of the portable.exe's it would only see the "default_wallet" file that exists in it's own folder structure...

However, as Abdussamad has already indicated... you can't really know for certain that a malware version of Electrum isn't doing things other than just sending your coins or seed to a thief... it's quite possible it could be installing all sorts of rogue scripts, processes, viruses, keyloggers etc...

This portable.exe setup would ONLY save you from the very "basic" attack that involves waiting until you start the fake wallet, open your wallet, enter password and sending either the decrypted seed or autosending a transaction containing all your coins.

Verifying the digital signature of the Electrum installer or portable.exe files is the best way to safeguard from fake versions of Electrum.
4491  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help Please ! ! ! BTC received and mysteriously it dissapears :( on: April 08, 2019, 03:40:10 AM
I worked with the default seed
I shared once with a relative
I have saved it on my computer
No one else has the seed
OP shared their seed and saved it digitally on their computer... Shocked Shocked Shocked OP has broken pretty much all the major rules around safeguarding their wallet and/or seed. Undecided

On top of that, they downloaded a fake wallet and obviously didn't check the digital signatures properly (or at all) as the fake wallet installer would have failed the signature verification.

It matters not what their OS was/is unless they completely change the way they handle the security of their wallet! Roll Eyes

4493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why doesn't Bitcoin-core Wallet app transmit payment? on: April 08, 2019, 03:29:14 AM
That address shows as having received no coins on all the block explorers... is that address you were attempting to send coins to from Bitcoin Core? Or is that your address in Bitcoin Core that supposedly contains coins? Huh

From the 18th of March to the date Bitcoin-core Wallet app retains my satoshis with the
message "this payment has not yet been transmitted";
This message sounds like you've attempted to create a transaction, but it was refused by the network... so it technically hasn't been broadcast yet and it doesn't exist on any nodes.

If you right click on the transaction in Bitcoin Core, and select "Show Transaction Details"... what does the "Status" line say?
4494  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: having real problems with mycelium app on: April 07, 2019, 03:47:29 AM
I'm not sure what you mean exactly? Huh

In mycelium, you should be able to select any transaction on the "transactions" tab... Then tap "show details" and see all the details like addresses, amounts and dates etc...
4495  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there any command line Bitcoin client (nodeless)? on: April 06, 2019, 06:13:53 AM
If you're running Linux... Electrum also has a CLI mode that allows basic functionality... note that the CLI doesn't work in Windows.

You could also try and leverage some of the API's available like Blockcypher: https://www.blockcypher.com/dev/bitcoin/

They have examples for the API calls using cURL, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, Go & PHP
4496  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: April 06, 2019, 06:07:04 AM
With the bitcoin gold wallet you posted, isn't it true you need to download entire blockchain which takes a long time or something like that?
No. Those are all links to forks of Electrum for various fork coins...
4497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Database Corrupt and recovering question on: April 05, 2019, 11:26:59 PM
Ejecting the drive may not be necessary... as long as you ensure you shutdown Bitcoin Core properly before disconnecting the drive or shutting down the computer.

In general, keeping the database on a removable drive isn't recommended as the chances for corruption are a lot higher than on a "fixed" drive. Even a slight accidental knock of the cable could be enough to unseat the plug from the socket enough that it disconnects/reconnects and could lead to corruption.

You could also try turning off "write caching" for that specific device... Right click the drive in explorer, select properties... click the "Hardware" tab, select the device from the list, then click the "Properties" button. Click "Change Settings" button... you'll get yet another properties window that has a "Policies" tab... select the "Policies" tab... and you should see the following "Removal Policies"...

Make sure it is set to "Quick Removal":

4498  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How many confirmed bitcoin forks are there? on: April 05, 2019, 10:48:33 PM
Reasons for not claiming forks:

1. Because it's practically worthless compared to Bitcoin
- Bitcoin is $5000/coin... BTG is $18/coin... unless you had substantial BTC holdings... the amount you stand to gain is miniscule

2. It's not worth the hassle
- If you had BTC in Electrum, it is relatively simple... move coins to new wallet, download the appropriate Electrum fork (like Electron Cash) use old seed and get instacoins... however if you had it in Bitcoin Core, you'd need to go through the hassle of moving all your coins, then syncing the full blockchain for "Core" wallets of the new fork... or exporting your keys and then find a wallet that you can import keys etc... or if your coins were in a paper wallet you'd need to generate new paper wallets... or if your coins were in cold storage you'd need to reorganise everything... for $18/coin Roll Eyes

3. It's not worth the risk
- Downloading "unproven" wallets, moving coins around from cold storage, exporting and importing seeds/private keys etc... there is a certain level of "risk" involved... for a coin worth $18... is it worth it? Huh

For the record, I've used:
Bitcoin ABC (Bitcoin Cash "core" wallet)
Bitcoin Gold Core
ElectronCash
ElectrumG (Bitcoin Gold "Electrum" wallet)
Electrum BCD (Bitcoin Diamond "Electrum" wallet)
4499  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: having real problems with mycelium app on: April 05, 2019, 10:30:18 PM

Ok, I converted all of those into clickable URLs... as you can see... only the first listed transaction ID is not found on the explorer... but I think that is just because you've missed a character as the TXID is only 63 chars long and it should be 64.

All the others are valid transactions that have been confirmed... so the transactions have been sent and confirmed and are now recorded on the blockchain.

It is quite possible that the issues you have been seeing were related to the issues that Mycelium have had with their backend servers. Some users were "losing" all their transaction history and seeing balance of 0 BTC etc... unless they refreshed the wallet a couple of times. This was supposedly fixed in the newer versions.

Anyway, if you are 100% sure that you have sent the coins to the correct deposit address(es) on Arbistar (which you can check by looking at these transactions and confirming the amounts and addresses)... then the only people who can help are Arbistar... the transactions are 100% confirmed, so if the addresses were correct, Arbistar have your coins.

So, either their system is broken and they need to credit your account... or it's a scam.

NOTE: to upload images, you need to be a junior member I think, or buy a copper membership... your best option is to upload to an image hosting site like imgur etc and then paste the URL to your hosted image.
4500  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: April 05, 2019, 10:07:46 PM
Mate seriously... unless you had hundreds of BTC (and therefore hundreds of BCH)... the amount you stand to lose in Bitcoin SV/Diamond/Private if you download a "bad" wallet is probably about $1.50... Roll Eyes

Bitcoin SV is worth $83.72 per coin
Bitcoin Gold is worth $18.14 per coin
Bitcoin Diamond is worth $1.30 per coin
Bitcoin private is worth 44c per coin... and isn't even traded on any "proper" exchange. Roll Eyes

Your Bitcoin was moved from Electrum and your Bitcoin Cash was moved from ElectronCash to your Nano... so they're "safe"... Even if you gave your Electrum seed to someone, there is no chance they can get either the BTC or BCH. So, just go to the official sites... download the wallets for the coins you want... get your coins and stop panicking about everything.

Bitcoin SV wallet - https://electrumsv.io/ (linked from official BitcoinSV site here: https://bitcoinsv.io/services/wallets-and-exchanges/)
Bitcoin Gold wallet - https://bitcoingold.org/electrumg/
Bitcoin Diamond wallet - https://www.bitcoindiamond.org/download/
Bitcoin Private wallet - https://btcprivate.org/wallets

As always, get them in order of value, most valuable first... so do SV, then Gold, then Diamond, (then, if you care about the pennies... do Private).

To my knowledge... SV, Gold and Diamond wallets are perfectly safe. Private simply isn't worth worrying about unless you have thousands of coins.
