The web service that does this is open source, meaning that you can use a local copy in an offline environment or just do it by yourself.
That simply isn't possible... BIP70 requires that you connect to the specified server to retrieve the relevant details of the invoice! You can't do that in an "offline" environment. I'm guessing that was just a force of habit when recommending to run things locally still, I like the looks of DeBitpay... Thanks for the link. I didn't know about that one... I was using: https://decoder.bip70.org/Keep in mind that if you use one the deciphers and then do something BitPay does not like it can lead to issues.
As a for instance people have sent with lower fees then set by the invoice and it took too long to mine so by the time it was accepted the BTC / fiat rate had changed enough to matter so the sale was cancelled.
Interestingly... the fee rate suggested in the invoice doesn't seem to flow through to either Bitcoin Core or Electrum (desktop and mobile version)... I've just run a test and while DeBitPay shows a fee of ~24 sats/byte: The wallets just run with whatever I have configured: So, it seems that using decoders isn't really going to be any worse than simply attempting to use an external wallet...

I enquire the balance of P2WSH like this: Address: bc1qrlam06agczxvm4fzlaumcp8q20gh3xfy28r3qg9xlr5rrc6e48jq4ghzey Pubkeyhash: 1ffbb7eba8c08ccdd522ff79bc04e053d178992451c71020a6f8e831e359a9e4
Are you hashing the pubkey or the script for your bech32 address? As BrewMaster said... For P2WSH, you need to be using the script... NOT the pubkey ... and if your bech32 address is a P2WSH then your script is: where hash is the SHA256(script)...

Now I have a dilemma... I initially started using Brave as it was being touted as being better for privacy... but it now seems they have slowly become "Evil"™ while I wasn't paying attention Might have to see if this "Ungoogled Chromium" is a suitable replacement... I'm guessing the issue will be whether or not it works with my workflow/"required" extensions etc. EDIT: Initial testing shows that it might not be suitable... just trying to install an extension seems very difficult. None of the methods shown seem to work EDIT2: Seems the newer dev releases (based on Chromium v78) aren't working properly... the Release version (Chromium v67) seems to allow the extensions to be install following some of the various install methods in the FAQ

Op, I’m curious as to how you earned this bch. I don’t expect you’ll see my post and question, but hopefully you will and will answer it.
You obviously didn't read the whole thread... The OP already mentioned how he earned it in his follow up post on the previous page: Thank you all for your replies. I earned it by writing reviews for the website of a friend. ...

... so if you're available, I can leave my phone on and see if it can accept anything (should be around for 12 hours).
Sounds good, create a request and I'll see if I can send it now... Also, I'd be keen to see if you can send a request back if my app isn't actually on and running. That would be something I should test too! Be good to know if the app needs to be open in the foreground to work properly.

Their KYC requirements seem to be ever worsening, and the fact that they continue to market themselves as the gold standard privacy browser while demanding this KYC is disingenuous at best.
What KYC? I am running Brave and haven't had to complete any KYC? Is it part of the "rewards" thing that I didn't opt into? Brave also whitelists several terrible trackers, including those from Twitter and Facebook.
That's why you should also run uBlock Origin to take care of that sillyness

I'd like to know one thing, is the fee system changed recently?
Not quite sure what you mean... But no, the fee "system" hasn't changed. Before, I saw they write something like XX sat/B, but yesterday I saw in some places XX sat/kb. So to make custom fee, as an example we'd have paid 10 sat/B, so how much we pay for sat/kb
Some wallet apps/explorers also use sat/kB... like Bitcoin Core: And some use sat/B... then there are some that use "Weight Units" or "Virtual Bytes/kiloBytes" Anyway, the difference between sat/B and sat/kB is 1000... so, in your example... if you wanted 10 sat/B... you multiply by 1000 and get 10,000 sat/kB... going the other way, if you had 52,000 sat/kB, you divide by 1000 and it shows 52 sat/B. NOTE that bitcoin is using 1000 for "kilo" prefix... not 1024.

I've made a copy of the backup key. how would one go about using the private key to access that address or transaction hash.
What format is the "backup key" in? NOTE: DO NOT PASTE YOUR BACKUP KEY HERE!Is it a long sequence of alphanumeric characters that start with "xprv" like this: xprv9s21ZrQH143K2kn9UE5hubcwgZrZnHbkpoWNj483waQyLkC6XgPAiRxPEdEqxbBqF8ywReAp1pT3mXpx2pZmjwmtika9nFfAx7X7ANJXpWi or is it a sequence of 51 or 52 alphanumeric characters that starts with a 5,L or K like this: 5KY2ai9J6aRTpvTnqgHsSiJ6eytmeDWFnTnSTSfmG61fbqRdrYe L4owynbcTcWyQWyFKrRTeVGTxe7W3GC8FfDZMiJ6Mb7wNbucz6ss KyWXH4sGjMXUEd5mUXNhcWNbpPEFfUjCKhCAKkKqfiYoDc6rDaae
Or is it 12 or 24 seemingly random words like this: punch work enable choose gloom casual reduce pride party coral fly rude still shine ball silver junk virus loud audit used decline glory valley steak nasty margin yard bunker canal demise eagle same coffee crisp myself or is it something else?

I have the 1.2 firmware on my ledger nano s as well. Got my Ledger in July 2019 - since then I did not done a update.
Where did you get your Ledger from in July 2019 that it only had 1.2 firmware on it??!? Or did you mean 2018 or 2017? You can try the old Ledger Manager Chrome app and see if that still works: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ledger-manager/beimhnaefocolcplfimocfiaiefpkgbf?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialogInstall it via Chrome browser and see if you can at least update to 1.3.1... then you'll be able to use Ledger Live. Otherwise, as per one of the earlier posts and the note on the Ledger Support page, you'll need to contact Ledger to get a replacement device: Firmware versions 1.1 and 1.2 cannot be updated with Ledger Live. Please check the firmware version before submitting a support request to get a replacement device.

Yes I think I mean accounts, I've created accounts in my ledger I have 4 accounts.
Thanks for the concise response it made sense so I tried it. I changed the ending 0 of the deviation number and moved up through 0-3, 4 and beyond showed nothing.
That would make sense... 4 accounts... so indexes 0, 1, 2 and 3... 0-3 I was able to retrieve amounts in those accounts but not the full amounts.
I'm short .2 btc here, I also noticed that when I navigate over to "Addresses" there are many listed there, the first one appears to be my retriving address with 0 balance and lower down there is a balance listed under "change" address type. its the same for all the accounts
Aside from the "missing" funds, that all seems fairly normal... as you use each account, new receiving addresses will be used... as you spend, the change from your outgoing transactions ends up in "change" addresses. Sounds like it might be a "gap limit" issue... It's possible you've used a receiving address in Ledger Live that is actually out past the gap limit that Electrum is using (20 by default) so it's just not finding an inbound transaction or 2... Are you missing the 0.2 BTC from one "account"? Or is it smaller amounts from each account that add up to 0.2 BTC?

Here you go: lightning:lnbc100u1pw7rhcdpp5xrf9khl8pu929tssfvhutmzh3lcq7rglwf05740svh9wcdv6hjmqdqqxqr4rqrzjqwryaup9lh50kkranzgcdnn2fgvx390wgj5jd07rwr3vxeje0glc7zf4hyqqgucqqqqqqqlgqqqqqeqqjqyxssjrdswve0nsn3naa4fhad2ef8nnthwzwpsah4enqksyd7pf5hwrx3v0uq6wg9ugcq3zkmf6p9f6qd3s0sh2q6d5s5z3kw9yx58hcpak44x7 Yeah I'm using éclair and it seems a bit strange as the balance subtracts the amount and then it's added back recursively until the funds go through. We're still probabky in alpha stage with this though so I assume things will look more normal later on. Hmmmm that doesn't seem to have worked too well from my end... As a pretty much complete LNn00b, I honestly have no idea what's wrong... nor how to fix it... so I guess all I can do is try a bit later.

It would appear that their system is setup to look for the very first transaction sent to the deposit address... and ONLY that transaction. Any subsequent transactions are then ignored (regardless of whether or not they confirm). Seems there is a bit of a disconnect between how some of the payment processors setup their systems and the way Bitcoin works. Perhaps they need to put a big warning saying "DON'T USE RBF" etc... I doubt yours would be the only case like this.

BlueWallet seems to have some strange issues... it was showing TWO lots of 10,000 sats with the "HCP" request details for a while... one "confirmed" (Green dot) and one "pending" (blue dot). Decided to take a screenshot... and just as it takes the screenshot, the blue one disappeared and it is now only showing one! Anyway, send me a repayment request and I'll see if I can not screw that up as well

I wouldn't mind messing about some more with Lightning... I'm using BlueWallet... and I *think* I did this correctly... lightning:lnbc100u1pw7rk3epp5qgpza3f7shka50ndguqxmt9kx64nt25ccdtq9eqd2kjgts9zaersdq9fpp4qxqyz5vqcqzysrzjq2ldrqfd8qj00nzve5ud5htx520ulmq5dl54ufkd9cxnlycdv5ag6zyusgqq44sqqqqqqq05qqqqqqgqpc9q0tcs9rddfsdqd8cxj7skgck4srp4dyjhlajccky6wvxta5k23q33vz9mwmq8z70084tzja6mpevz2rknj6zee6uz2y0rmfkkzkcscqwt2g25
I assume I just need to send 10000 sats back at some point?

I make 3 require and 3 parts for my Seed
One thing that you need to be very careful about when using a "3-of-3" or "5-of-5" as you mentioned above or any "n-of-n" setup... is that if you lose ANY piece, you will NOT be able to recover the original. This is why it is typically setup as "n-of-m" (where n < m)... such as "2-of-3" or "3-of-5". This way, if you lose a piece... you can still recover the original if you have sufficient pieces remaining!

Also heard electrum from my friends. Hoping there is a mobile or web wallet for this, I'm comfortable to use my phone and not bringing laptop.
There is an Android version (definitely no web version!) of Electrum... however it is more of a "companion" app... that you can use to complete basic tasks (send/receive) when you're out an about. It does not have all the features of the desktop version (for instance, you can't sign/verify messages). Other Android wallets to consider would be (in no particular order): Mycelium - https://wallet.mycelium.com/ (allows message signing/verification) Samourai - https://samouraiwallet.com/ (allows message signing from funded addresses) BlueWallet - https://bluewallet.io/ (no message signing)

just wondering if anyone else experienced it too.
Can't say I've noticed any real difference in speed of start up with 0.19.0.1 to be honest... Running on Windows 10 with the blocks folder actually sitting on an old HDD. It seems to be about the same if not slightly faster to start for me.

... I'm in Iran (after a week of internet blackout) and many platforms require ID's and Iranians are banned and sanctioned almost everywhere.
That's going to be the major hurdle in anything you attempt to achieve with your cryptocurrency Growing your coins with such a small amount to start is going to be very difficult... converted to BTC that's around 0.00116100 BTC... given a lot of exchanges and sites have withdrawal fees around 0.0005 BTC you'll need to grow your amount quite substantially to avoid the losing most of your funds to fees. One option (although very very VERY risky) would be to simply gamble it high return, HUGE risk... but again, most of the crypto casinos and gambling sites don't allow users from Iran etc. Whatever you do, avoid the temptation to try some of the "too good to be true!" type offers that float around on this forum (coin doublers, so-called 'high yield investment programs' aka HYIPs, cloud mining etc).

$ bitcoin-cli backupwallet
The backupwallet command simply creates a copy of your wallet.dat file at the location provided in the command: backupwallet "destination"
Safely copies current wallet file to destination, which can be a directory or a path with filename.
Arguments: 1. destination (string, required) The destination directory or file
It is the same as using "File -> Backup wallet..." option in the GUI... or simply manually copying the wallet.dat file (after bitcoind/Bitcoin Core is shut down properly)
