http://qz.com/670708/the-british-government-is-considering-paying-out-research-grants-with-bitcoin/

how come this news doesnt affect bitcoin price in positive way Huh

...

Two words - British banks! Researches receiving grants in BTC are going to encounter problems with it. They're going to need to spend GBP at some point, and they'll need to explain to their bank where the money came from.

The government has been fairly positive about crypto (opportunity for British businesses, enterprise, innovation - the usual reasons). Our banks... not so much. There used to be GBP exchanges (Britcoin, then Intersango, maybe a few others). No more. When I buy BTC via Localbitcoin I usually have to use something like "ebay purchase" as the reference for the seller's bank. I'm not convinced recipients of government grants are going to be comfortable doing that... even if they are, their auditors won't be.

(Behind the scenes British banks are interested in the blockchain. They just don't want us using that nasty magic internet money associated with the blockchain, however).

but surely if Gov paying out research grant with bitcoin, they dont need to explain anything to the bank. its a Gov research grant Huh

A bit more cheerful than Russia then. They've really got to get some banks to play though. Hopefully Fidor are going to do something but they may well be frozen out by the biggies.

BTC+gaming integration is extremely huge for bitcoin's long-term fundamentals and the training of a potentially very big user base. Not to repeat myself, but:

The best "crowd" to "train" are young tech-savy people (teenagers+). They'll need ...zero training as they figure out everything, just as they did with dogecoin. We need to merge BTC with the millions of online gamers. Games where people can win BTC through their gameplay or pay with BTC for advanced game priviledges, or transact with BTC between each other for exchanging items, accounts etc. These young people also tend to have GPUs and thus can become indirect BTC miners through GPU multipools.

I've stated it before but online games are the way... massive user base (tens of millions of young gamers) who are tech-knowledgeable and won't have an issue using cryptos.

Want to sell a virtual item? A game account? Something in-game related? BTC is the way... Same for game companies... they can have users use BTC for paying for their premium stuff or reward players with BTC for winning something, like a tournament or in-game achievements.

agree m8
also think xbox and ps will add to their stores soon, now that japan has officially recognised btc as money..

"Even more encouraging in many ways was the other news, that the Japanese government had devised a set of bills that would effectively recognize Bitcoin as a currency and put some regulations in place."

Shocked You can now Pay for Steam Games with Bitcoin, adding an all new payment method to the gaming platform. Bitcoin has been rarely discussed positively in the news lately, but the cryptocurrency still remains one the most used digital currencies out there, with no competing standard being anywhere near as popular or widely used as bitcoin.

Bitcoin has been added to several digital storefronts over the past few years, with Steam being the latest online storefront to adopt it. At this time, it is thought that Valve are using the third party BitPay company to handle all Bitcoin transactions, automatically converting the digital currency into more standard currency like USD or GBP.   Shocked

when it was added to bitfinex it dumped pretty heavy.. possibly on prospect of the short market they have there.

the btc-e addition diversifies the ETH markets a bit, but i was expecting more action upon this landmark achievement.

maybe its just going to be a delayed reaction? the single candle on btc-e's ETH/BTC pairing sure did look nice. Smiley
btce will take ETH to 0.06 or higher Wink

I think that will be delayed action. It could happen in 3-6 months. The price of Etheruem needs some consolidation.
yea prob as we head closer to devcon2...as for now the downtrend is def coming to an end.

Major exchanges add support for the Standard DAO Framework

Unbeknownst to many, we’ve spent the last few months contacting major exchanges to educate them around the importance of supporting smart contracts, ‘meta coins,’ DAOs and other type of digital assets on the Ethereum Network. Today we are proud to announce the results of this work.

Kraken, Gatecoin, Bity, ShapeShift and Bittrex are all going to support the open source Standard DAO Framework

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/ethcore-raises-financing-round-as-first-venture-capital-funded-ethereum-startup-1461343599
Ethereum startup Ethcore has raised $750,000 in a preliminary, pre-seed funding round led by Silicon Valley-based Blockchain Capital and Shanghai-based Fenbushi Capital.
The startup was also awarded a grant by the U.K. government’s Innovate UK to create a “next-generation foundational distributed ledger platform for institutional communication, authorisation, and consensus.”  Smiley
What Is Ethcore?
Ethcore was founded by Ethereum co-founder and former CTO Gavin Wood. Along with Vitalik Buterin, Wood co-designed the Ethereum protocol and took a lead in various parts of the Ethereum ecosystem, including devising the Solidity programming language, refining the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and writing the acclaimed Yellow Paper, the first formal specification of a blockchain protocol.
Gavin Wood told Bitcoin Magazine:
“We have developed high-level designs for tackling scalability and privacy that can help us overcome some of the problems and help in various settings. They'll be implemented over this year  Tongue. We'll expect a much more scalable public blockchain in the next couple of years.”  Grin

and maybe another killer dapp like slockit,augur.......REGIS, http://regis.nu/index.html  ( beta)
http://allcoinsnews.com/2016/04/21/consensys-regis-platform-enables-registry-creation-management-on-ethereum-blockchain/
likely use cases for Regis include auctions, updating contracts, and registries for land or natural resources.  Shocked

lol yea i remember...also remember u saying smart men ( u..me ) will dump on sunday  Cheesy great call m8 , ive bn riding the waves and loving almost everyone, but tommorow i turn my monitor back round as upside down pump could be ending due to another Bitfinex ride about to begin.

I don't know what any of this shit means, but looking at your post history, it appears you are highly invested in Eth.  Extremely fucking stupid to be altcoining DURING the fucking Bitcoin halving rise.  It's about the dumbest trade you can possibly make.  The fact that Eth is conceptually and technically broken, as me and Anonymint have shown, plus being overpumped in a bubble on top of that just makes it all that much worse.  Don't be the idiot that loses all your money betting against the BTC halving.  We already saw that happen to MatTheCat about 24 hours ago.

You will see the -20% Eth flash crash along with a simultaneous BTC green candle soon.
thats because i wasnt talking to you and quoted adam!
i cant lose anything to ETH, bought under $1 and sold at almost top  Wink , rebought and sold many times, got investment back, got loads more BTC and alot of ETH ...i sold a gd amount of BTC at $450 today, will sell more if we goto $475 as i fully expect a huuge dump near halving
just curious ..were u around when BTC halved first time...i was and btc didnt get pumped at all...
in fact it dumped, and pumped 7 months ltr,lol and me thinks halving is priced in just like ltc halving was last yr...
theres far too many peeps wantin to dump at $1k, and hardly anyone wanting to pay that amount.
Even if 1 ETH goes to $100 its still a far better option than 0.2 btc for $100 too many peeps holding btc in the hope that others pay $100-$500 for  0.1(satoshis) but new money wants a full coin with gd future , not hundreds of dollars for satoshis.
