4561  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [12th Sept] on: September 22, 2014, 09:16:02 PM
ASICMiner Prisma is based on a proprietary X48 design for BE200. It greatly reduces power
consumption of the device per GH/s compared to the X24 design.

Shipping date: 8th October, 2014 to 27th October, 2014

The Guide is out of date. When are you updating it?

Don't quote bits of the ratings. You're complaining that the guide is out of date, citing a post that was made 9 hours ago....

A non x24 design, interesting.
4563  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Power Supply Analysis on: September 22, 2014, 03:49:02 AM
Changelog 09/22/2014
  • List now spreads across two pages due to post character limit
  • Removed some unnecessary decimal places
  • Fixed some prices
  • Fixed column spacing

Speculation on top of speculation reported as fact, posted to the forums. Just delete this shit.
4567  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive BTCGarden AM V1 Setup [HD] on: September 21, 2014, 03:06:50 AM
the Ethernet port doesn't connect - doesn't show up as an IP address to go to.  the boot (firmware) doesn't complete the USB setup processes.

What do you mean the USB setup process? If you're unable to connect via the network, how are you connecting? Seeing as you've made your own image, its highly likely you've done it wrong.
4568  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 21, 2014, 03:05:39 AM
...but others (especially large operations) sell.
From my trip to China, I heard the following repeatedly:
Lots of large farms using inefficient miners, placed at 6-10 cents (or above), creating constant downward pressure on the Bitcoin price when converting daily to pay electricity bill.
There is always, always download pressure, it doesn't matter if its in the hands of the public or larger farms. Everyone has bills to pay, everyone has to convert at some point. And unless money coming in remains > mining money + money going out, prices shift down.

Even if all these inefficient farms upgraded their entire fleet of hardware overnight, they'd still have to convert to pay the capital costs back - it makes little difference.

BitCrane T-110 - 0.75 to 0.85TH [ambient sensitive]

Those bitcranes are nice looking machines, how come it's so slow I thought they were meant to be 1.1TH and there was nothing in your guide about the lower speed.

[ambient sensitive]

I assume is the culprit...my hashfast systems need cold air to hit max speeds.

In fact I just software restarted it and its been chugging along at 1TH for the last hour. One of the cores is too hot so is throttling due to my crazy ambient at the moment. Seems that over time it was losing hash rate and just needed a restart. I won't change it for now though.

You should check the definition of hissy fit. That's the kind of tantrum you usually throw.

Morning. Your presence is required here, and pretty much everywhere else on the internet its spread to seeing as no one at BFL actually wants to comment: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=788886.0
4571  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly Labs (BFL) raided today by U.S. Marshalls 9/19/14 on: September 20, 2014, 03:33:05 AM
I honestly can't envision a scenario where the doors are opened come Monday and everybody's working like today didn't happen. It's also probably a safe bet that some suppliers have yet to be paid, and won't want to ship more parts to an entity currently enjoying the wrong kind of limelight.
Theoretically speaking BFL could be forced through Chapter 7, and that would mean retaining some (or even most) employees through the initial liquidation stage.

Are you suggesting they're insolvent? How or why would that happen if they're sitting on boatloads of cash.

It must be right in the feels trying to power miners in the US. In the UK a socket is a socket, and more than likely its got a 32A (which is really 40A 24/7) 240V circuit behind it.

4574  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive BTCGarden AM V1 Setup [HD] on: September 19, 2014, 11:59:22 PM
unable to boot rpi,  it asks for me to enter "runlevel"?  I've tried both rpi B and B+ with both builds accordingly.  the B+ build doesn't boot with a keyboard or ethernet access.  the B board stops and asks for a runlevel...  However does have ethernet connection and keyboard works.  After I enter (tried 1,2,3,4, etc...) I get the same "no more processes left in this runlevel"

running 4 btc boards:  1v X2  1200watts,  all my cables look correct.

thanks for any advice/help.

Not a clue what is going on with your Pi, unless you mean you're trying to plug into it directly? You need to go into it via its network IP.
4575  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Asicminer Gen 3 Why is it called that? on: September 19, 2014, 11:04:18 PM
Chips on the V1/V2 blades were BE100 - gen 1. Chips on the V3 cubes were BE100 but shrunk - gen 2. Chips on Tubes are BE200s - gen 3.

V3 cubes.. huh?  I've never heard of that.  I was under the assumption that they started developing Gen2 (~65-90nm) and it got scrapped in favor of 40nm.

Cubes... Its just what I called them [regarding V1 and V2 blades]. Even if there wasn't a shrink, the W/GH dropped from 10 to 6.5 which was large enough to consider it a non incremental step. Anyway, why do people get so hung up on my unofficial, colloquial naming schemes?
4576  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup [HD] on: September 19, 2014, 09:41:25 PM
Any plans to update this guide (or create a new one) for the S1 upgrade kits?

If I can get one to the UK, yeah.

4578  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra AIRE Miner 16nm PreOrder on: September 19, 2014, 04:20:09 AM
Cointerra contacted me early on to develop a driver for their 28nm offer. However I've heard and know precisely nothing about this new offering.
Pls for the sake of the community and your reputation. Dont work with them ever, they're probably gonna use your name to attract more newbies.

I wouldn't begrudge ckol for doing this. Its how he makes a living and quite simply if he won't work for them they will find someone who will. At least the buyers who get sucked into the preorder will know that 1) the software has a better chance of working and 2) at least someone on the inside has some morals.

So because you make a living by being a driver. Its ok for you to be a gateaway driver in a bank robbery?

Stupid, if you work with/for criminals, your reputation is tainted. I'm sure they would use his name to make it sounds more legit. His actual work probably wont benefit any of the "customers"..... or "investors"

He's not doing anything illegal, nor are Cointerra. They're engaging in selling practices we don't morally agree with - that doesn't make it illegal. By the same merit you're also saying if UPS agrees to send their packages that they might as well be smuggling drugs or if BOA processes their payments they might as well be money laundering.

They're not going to use his name for anything, no one outside this subforum even knows what CGMiner or BFGMiner are, nevermind who the developers are.
4579  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Tube Setup [HD] on: September 19, 2014, 03:33:27 AM
typo

you can use 5V or 12V
but amperage must be at least 12W so 5V 2.5A or 12V 1A

Can one use 12v 2A?  Or just stick with 12v 1A?

A device will only pull what is required. 2a is your maximum, so there is nothing wrong with using 2a adapter, as long as the barrel connector is the right size.

Its like saying can I use a 24W PSU when I only need 12W (which is what is happening here).
