i had 12 gpus running in a 12 m2 room, and it was always at 35ºC and over that if it was very hot outside. I used two fans. One to take out the hot air through the window, and another one to blow air to the GPU's. at 60% fans not even one of them is above 65ºC.
The problem is not the gpu's temperature, but the PSU. If the temp in the room is high, your power consumption will increase. in my case, in winter, with about 20ºC in that room, my PSU was using around 910W from the wall. In hot summer, it was using 940W from the wall.
so the component that most suffers hot in the room, is the PSU. and will also make suffer your pocket, because it increases electricity bill.
Fortunately, i stopped them like a month ago. I'm not that stupid to keep them mining at a loss, specially if i think that this market is dead and this coins (ETH) will never recover.

considering that mining is UNPROFITABLE RIGHT NOW, i don't see the point of spending a huge amount of money to buy a gpu to mine ETH (because there is no other coin that has not been invaded by ASICS and has been made unprofitable for GPU's) specially when Difficulty bomb is already on the plans of the DEVS as stated in the last stream of 24 Agost on youtube.
The block reward is also going to be made, EIP-1234 would reduce block rewards to 2 ETH and EIP-858 would reduce block rewards to 1 ETH per block.
i'm going to say one important thing: unless ETH goes x2 or x3 in the next month, you´ll not even get close to ROI when difficulty bomb is applied.
you have to be really mad, like really really mad to buy GPU's for mining right now.

Legislations, and problems with scalability among other problems, will make THE ACTUAL SYSTEM to collapse in a very short term.

mining ETH is just unprofitable right now. Most of the people are actually mining at a loss, and have been doing it for quite a long time now.
Reality is people are blind, deaf , stupid , greedy and with plenty of FAITH with no reason.
Many people are still mining because THEY THINK this situation will not last longer. Reality is this situation is going to extend probably months and the market will never ever recover, specially if , as it has been said , SEC will Deny the activity of ETF
Not only this. Even if this situation is being UNPROFITABLE, it's still doable if you mine with ASIC and that shit, because even at current prices, Network hashrate is increasing. I don't see people investing thousands of dollars on mining ETH just for 10-15$ per month of profit. it makes no fucking sense at all.
So, low prices + market destroyed + increase in hashrate, this can be only due to ASICS, that they can get more profit due to more hashrate at more electricity efficiency.
The more the hashrate goes Up, the less profit you get. I will not tell you what to do, but to continue mining is just a very bad decision, and you´ll be penalized for it. Hope so. Some people deserve to learn it the hardest way possible.

ETH is dying. Reality shows us that even at low prices noone is buying. So the technology behind and value of the company is not even worth the actual value.
In fact, Vitalik has never ever announced how much money they've earned in smart contracts. My guess? not even a tenth of the value in the market.
I don't think we will see a recovery anytime soon, and i also think that ETH will never go above the 600$ price, not even in 2-5 years time.
Stupid people are getting rekt, but they don't know it yet.

come on guys. I can count with my hands the people that have been saying that this situation was possible (one of those me). Now, everyone saying 200$ is possible, when there is a post saying the same but for 300$ and 90-95% of you guys said that was imposible. my 10 gpus are off and have been off for almost two weeks now. I don't regret it even once, because of many reasons.
1º i'm not a holder. If you are a holder mining, you are actually a moron. (though i can accept miners who mine , expecting the price to increase and sell to recover electricity bill + profit)
2º at 0,18$/Kwh, the profit per card is 0,18€/day. That's a no go for the vast amount of miners.
3º if you don't mine, you´ll not ROI ever, that's true, but considering the situation of the market, you can expect to be like months paying your electricity bill without a single € of profit, which is not what it was intended when i bought all my equipment.
4º nowadays, buying coins is far more profitable than mining. and if you know how to trade coins, (so you are a bear right now), you can get almost 5-10% profit almost everyday if you are a good one.
5º long term investment is the most risky situation you can imagine, because on the hypothetical situation of considering the market to increase, the only thing you can do is trust blindly on crypto. Because, nowadays, there is no argument, data, clue, information or technical analysis that can make you believe that that is gonna happen.
Mining nowadays is just assuming losses, that's why i will continue to keep my gpu's off.
said this 4th of April 2018 Those saying that the market will recover......are you actually thinking that due to an argument, or is it just faith?? Faith , specially the blind one, can also kill you, you know it right??
there are, right now, more more more argument against crypto than in favour. Even technical analysis says that BTC can go to 2800$. You are very relaxed?? that's nice, i´ll come here when you begin to panic.
March 17 2018 for me it's already dead.
April 5th 2018 i have many many more where it was clear that this was going to happen. As easy as search my posts. No lies, i predicted this drop because for me was so obvious.... |
