There is no "correct" chain. Longest chain wins but u don't know which one.

Ok, this one seems longest, I am on block 22322 now, id 14177751551286266419

anyone seen any longer, let me know? )

LOL, https://nextcoin.org/ has gone down (server busy message) and dgex is taking ages to load Cheesy
I wonder if that is due to Nxt being nr 4 on http://coinmarketcap.com/ or if some one is trying to ddos ?
Exciting times right now Smiley

yes!

... planning to get rid of the interface completely.
- very sad.

The browser (https) access and the absence of stand-alone client is the most distinguishing (and attractive) feature of Nxt.

The browser access successfully works on smartphones right now.

Hope BCNext will change his mind regarding browser client.

I don't like the java interface at all and would prefer a stable, fast, clean native interface.

me too.
i want a client which is lean, small, fast and cross os, running
without installation from my usb-stick on windows, linux or mac,
able to connect to my private local node, my public net node and
even to other secured nodes later without any stored browser
history and security concerns like this, just by one click from
any place.

i want to manage my account, handle shares on the asset exchange
and use all the cool features nxt is providing soon without
leaving the client workspace, just like a central application hub.

i also want to see all quotes for other coins, best in near realtime
and trade them with advanced tools and technical analysis including
candlestick charts. auto-notifications on price-actions and bot-trading
with backtesting tools are also welcome.

i want a client which never needs updates, because this is built in
and it would also nice to add special plugins with a single click and
use them without restarting my os or even the client itself.
all this should fit into 1mb to send the client via mail to friends
without bothering them by complex multilayer installations and make
them start nxt easy.

well, we don't have it right now but we could have it soon. ;-)

This would be AWESOME.

Aye. The only obstacle on a way to the bright future is lack of alt-clients that support these features.

don't worry, NXT | Application Hub, is on it's way, faster than expected.  Cool
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 15, 2013, 11:58:08 PM
just to mention, it's impressive to see all these great efforts
and talented people to push nxt into a bright 2014.
sure, there are some obstacles during this public beta but i am
more and more confident, nxt could play an important role in
cryptocountry soon. not only because due to it's technical innovations
and advantages but also and esp. because of the people staying behind.
for a coin, only 20 days young, this is just impressive!

or i need to register another one?

yes, you can. good tutorials, even videos are here: https://nextcoin.org/

Can someone help me. I am doing some private trades for nxt. So far received 3 batches of NXT. However something is concerning me, cos on the NXT block explorer - http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=100 when I check my address 17102374048997504131 it has balance total of 0? So the NXT coins haven't actually gone through to my account?

What is going on and should I be worried?
- hmmm.. there is 307702 NXT now at 17102374048997504131 address.
Strange that blockexplorer doesn't show this.. Some errror.
You can check your balance at any public node with query http://nodeaddr:7874/nxt?requestType=getBalance&account=17102374048997504131 .

Thank you. That amount is 153,000 too low.

Is there a public node I can run that query on? I just want to make sure the NXT transactions cannot be reversed

hi mr_random,
just looked at your account. the current balance is 1,000,010 NXT. is this number correct?

http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=17102374048997504131

edit: just checked the logs for orphaned or other issues but all seems ok.
please let me know if there are any difficulties.

473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 15, 2013, 11:45:23 AM
The price of the coin is at 0.00001000 NXT/BTC, it is 90.11 % more than previous value

what happened ?  Shocked
Somebody just traded 1 NXT above highest bid. DGEX allows custom trades at any price.

Your site, your rules. My opinion:

It's better to disable that feature because some other sites like coinmarketcap use your rates to calculate stuff. You could setup a separate server for people that would like to trade at different/custom rates.

makes more sense, coinmarketcap would use a simple moving average to filter these spikes
instead changing a complex system just to fit into a obviously insufficient calculation model.

ps/edit:
it would also make sense to consider the market depth (orderbook) to adjust the macap (at least a little)
to the real liquidity. if e.g.  90% liquidity is 30% below highest bid the macap should take this into account.
a simple solution would be an average (better a weighted avg) thru the whole markertdepth, also local
stored to built a depth history, could enhance the macap numbers very.

pps:
another qualifier could be calculated by measure the market *absorbing*
quality by timediffs. simple spoken how fast e.g. a big buy at a certain
or last quote will be replaced by another order with the same or better
quote and similar units. this demand indicator could used to weight the
average depth liquidity (besides others).

hmmm..., the more i am thinking about this the more it would be nice to have
such a macap viewer as an additional plugin to the client later. since a quote
viewer plugin is planned, the data could be used for this too.

i have recieved several questions about the planned nde client.
to prevent techspeech pollution in this thread you find a quick overview here:

Wow!!  Emotional in here.

However, I did warn him, QA QA QA QA test test test test THEN you launch.

The stuff you guys are having problems (like syncing issues) with we had similar 4 months ago, difference is I let a very tentative "launch date" pass and kept the client in development beta....

You are creating multiple updates per day on a LAUNCHED product..... Roll Eyes

i tought we are in public beta or did i miss something?  Grin

Some bright side:

84,829,673 NXT is total volume on dgex. Add to that at least 20 mil on forums. Over 10% maybe even 15% of total NXT in existence changed hands.

i think this could interpreted as well as good direction*.
remember this coin is only 17 days online. we have to be
fair and don't ecpecting nxt will solve every problem in notime.

dgex transfers in -> 172 (91,843,411)   --> transfesr out 567 (73,892,075)

the inoffical nxt spreadfactor is 1 to 3,3 ;-)

http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=6635869272840226493

*(not accurate but gives a rough direction, for better numbers the accounts have to counted uniqe and more
but have no time todo this now)

- the web-client is smallest. It require only a browser. Stand-alone client is another layer to trust into.

this is correct. i wouldn't consider to write a new one without these increasing posts about
the buggy client but this needs to change i think.

Of course, its your decision, but 4 weeks of development...   may be Nxt needs some quick useful serveces right now. You are trusted developer, may be you can make mixing service (and gain some deserved profit from it).. or another service.

be sure there will be many usefull services later, but from my pow services needs a demand by users,
many users and the current client seems as an obstacle to me (no offend here) to convince and satisfy
enough users. so i think the best is to remove this obstacle first.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 12, 2013, 12:16:33 PM

thanks for you pre-trust and you are right, i am also against vaporware.
i will make an announcement tomorrow, when i have seen the api.
it's up to the community then, to decide if nxt want and need this client.

I, for one, think the community seriously needs a stable, reliable, native (non java) client that is easy to install and operate.

I'm glad your working on it.

i am not working on it now, first i have to see the api and specs.
then, if the community has decided, i could start on 3.january.
it would take me ~4 weeks, to code the client from scratch,
optimized for all nxt advantages.

btw. today i will quickly add some basic graphic/charting to block explorer
to visualize some data. there was more planned but when this is done, i will
stop adding more features due to client, which is far more important i think.
so if there is any must have feature you need, please tell me now.
Still have not tipped you - I wait to take over the giveaway after bybitcoin pass me the coins. You will be awarded what you deserve man!

thx klee, the nxt-bce was just a quick experiment to get familiar with nxt api/protocol and to contribute.
the *real* work starts now.

But I can't catch the alternative client idea. Does ordinary users need an alternative client? With which server they supposed to use it?    They need to trust that server.  If they managed to found such server, why not to use current https web-client?

the basic idea to design the current client as webinterface has many advantages but also shows weakness in
usabillity for non tech related users. we have to change this. the new client can connect to both, your local
instance as well to a trusted node. the user can decide what fit's better and maintain a trusted node list.
the goal is to keep the client as small and compact as possible, running e.g. from a mini usb stick just by a click.
no installation, no dependencies, totally self contained, non-tech user approved.  Grin

soon we will have one of the most innovative client
for nxt*

I hope so, but what we really want is for NXT to be the most innovative with its decentralised exchange, not just another client.

Will this new client be a decentralised exchange or just a website?

supports full decentralised exchange, software*, small, fast, portable, easy gui.

*compiled, no java, no website

That's more like it.  And, based on the job you've done with the block chain explorer, I'm confident you can do it, but we will see.

thanks for you pre-trust and you are right, i am also against vaporware.
