Is it not fair to help the nodes find the right chain? I understand it's a scientific interest with you, but we can affect it, if we upload the chain manually, or not?

Download and unzip https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67242472/nxt.zip
Open nxt/webapps/root/web-INF/web.xml and put ur public IP into "myAddress" parameter
Go back to the folder with start.jar and run

For normal usage yes, but they'd probably switch you off when vps is ddosed or you'd run out of bandwidth soon and have to pay overages.
