461  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Limited number of bitcoin addresses on: November 20, 2015, 02:23:44 PM
This really isn't a problem and this kind of question would only be asked by somebody who did not take a calculus course in high school. Satoshi probably had this in mind when developing the protocol and as pointed out above, it is mathematically impossible to run out of addresses. Don't worry about it. The developers already thought about it.

Well I have read the other thread so I figure we don't need to keep this one open. I see this proposal has been rejected so I'm locking the thread.

EDIT: Can't seem to do that in this section, Moderator, please lock. Thanks.
463  Other / Meta / Introducing a chatbox to BTCTalk on: November 20, 2015, 01:53:30 PM
I just had an idea - a few years ago I was a developer on another forum and subscribers were able to chat. Chat Mod for SMF makes very easy to implement and it could be configured so only Full Member rankings and above can use it. There are times where I find myself wanting to chat with people here and all we really have are threaded discussions. Thoughts?

I got payed out by this website a while back. Here's the link from Blockchain.info

465  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [HELP] satoshibox.com - scam?! on: November 20, 2015, 01:47:08 PM
What wallet are you using? If you're using an obscure web wallet you may be hooped. Satoshi's Bitcoin core is the most trusted. In addition Bitcoin-Qt requires all blocks to download before it becomes visible. I would not worry though, Bitcoins do take time to show up.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIG NEWS: Europen Union Cracking Down on Bitcoin on: November 20, 2015, 01:42:45 PM

In essence, instead of using Bitcoin's blockchain to help track down terrorists, the powers that be in their infinite wisdom call an emergency meeting to shutdown the best source they have in finding terrorists.

"We're shutting you down because terrorists have been know to purchase their lemonade from you to kill innocent people. The list you provide us on a daily basis as to whom your customers are absolutely has no value to us."
Unfortunately, this is what the world has come to. Some conspiracy theorists claim that the attacks in Paris were highly influenced to happen by the so-called "New World Order". After stories like this come out, I am beginning to buy into these theories. I have not seen an Alex Jones documentary in a long time, but I might want to watch one later when I have a chance.
467  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Halley BTC?█(halleybtc.com)█Is it a ponzi or not? on: November 20, 2015, 01:28:50 PM
As a rule of thumb, if ANY website offers a huge return from your investment it is most likely a ponzi scam. These websites make me sick. Quickly galncing at the poster's name above me I thought to myself "Oh god, here comes the scumbag scammers trying to bullshit their way out of being found out". Avoid these investment/mining sites. They're designed to take your money.
468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling be profitable in long term ? on: November 20, 2015, 01:25:01 PM
If someone which follows the set of rules and be discipline enoff. Can people make 50-100 $ a day just gambling in online casino.....?

If you playing skill based games (and you have actual skills in those games) then you will have a good chance for that. ...especially if you pick the right "opponents" Smiley.
Oh, really? Because even the most skilled PokerStars players go from losing everything, borrowing a bunch of money from their friends, and then go back to winning if they're lucky. Go and watch Poker on TV if you don't believe me.
469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: November 20, 2015, 01:21:46 PM
Gambling is only wrong when other people have to pay for your loses. What I have found in life is that people who are supporting you financially now will stop when they find out your losing your money at the casino. People who argue that they can make money actually seldom make money and only remember the times they win and think that those wins cover the losses. These gamblers never keep track of how much they spend at the casino and they end up either borrowing money and never paying it back or outright stealing money thinking they can replace it since they're sure they'll win. For some people, yes gambling is a very bad idea.
470  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: November 19, 2015, 09:25:24 PM
hopefully btc is so high from halving in 20 years that we dont even use 1 btc but instead fractions  Tongue

i doubt, to retire you need 1M at least or 500k, even if bitcoin would reach 1M per coin a fraction of it let's say 0.1 or 0.01 are not enough to retire in any case

If you want to live on the streets and be poor, yes you need 1 Million to retire.  If you want to have a decent life you probably are looking around 3-5 million.  You are going to need more than 100 coins in order to get that amount.  Good luck!

what no... i need only 5k per year to live in a decent house with a decent life, so 500k is more than enough for me

you need 3-5 million if you want to hire whores every night...

That is assuming no mortgage payments or property taxes I am assuming?  Also I hope you don't have a car or anything either.

Basically the cost of living cheap would be this:
500 mortgage/month
120 gas/electric/month
100 property tax/month
50 gas/month
say 160 food/month

Total of 930 a month which is not including fun, cable, any other payments you might have
*30 years is about 500k roughly.

That is if you retired right now.  If you retire in 10 years, probably multiply that by about 1.25 or so for inflation.  20 years, 1.5.

If you can live that, and I low balled the crap out of everything congrats, I don't see that as a comfortable home, nor allowance for any fun.

with mortage you mean for the house? no there is no mortage, the house is completely payed and it's mine

i don't use car, bicyclette all the way, cheaper from every point of view, so no gas wasted, but foods is actually more expensive for me at least 200, up to 250

I did mean for a house payment.  You still have to pay property taxes and gas/electric though.  Sounds like you live fairly cheap.  It still depends on when you will retire for how much money you need.  Most experts agree that 1million right now is a low point of what you should retire.

well bills are not so expensive if you are alone, probably 100 for everything including internet and taxes on trash and something like that

those expert conduce a very healtly life by wasting money on useless festivity

Yeah I suppose it also depends on where you live too.  Where I live there is no way you are paying taxes and trash and electric and gas for 100 dollars a month.  Cable alone will set you back over $100 a month.  So it definitely depends where and when you are retiring as well.
Conquered. There is no way most people could live on that budget in North America and Europe. Most people in the city I live in pay upwards of $2000 per month for rent alone. $500 would get you a room in a shared house if you're lucky. It's also another $100 for cable and another $50 for cell phone bills. And that still does not take into account luxuries.
471  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you do with most of your day? on: November 19, 2015, 09:20:20 PM
These days I am just relaxing out here in the Brazilian countryside. It's nice to get away from the crazies back home in Canada for six weeks. I am also loving the summer weather down here. It's really cold back home from what I here.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIG NEWS: Europen Union Cracking Down on Bitcoin on: November 19, 2015, 09:18:38 PM
What I find ironic is that France did absolutely nothing to stop the Syrian terrorists from entering the country as refugees. Now they're just using the recent Paris attacks to justify "cracking down" on terrorism. Bitcoin can be used to fund terrorism, yes but that does not mean it is necessarily bad. The bankers just don't want to lose their financial grip on the world.
473  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: November 19, 2015, 07:57:42 PM
My thoughts are to use Faucets if you can to get started.  Despite what people say you can actually make a decent amount of coin using faucets.  PM me if you want some URLs, I can send them with or without referral link.

The other thoughts are signature campaigns.
You never make any decent amout of money from faucets. Don't be leading people to waste their time.

Sure you can.  If I really tried hard I bet I would be able to earn roughly 10 dollars an hour using faucets.  I would spread referral links out and do them non stop.  10 dollars isn't terrible plus on top of that if the price does soar up you might be making roughly 20 dollars an hour past time.  That isn't and at all.
If you're living in a third-world country and have no other skills then sure, this is definitely not a bad option. Usually, I am in Canada, a G8 nation; everything there is very expensive. I find sig campaigns if I have enough time in a week barely give me enough money for a meal out once a week. Here in Brazil, this would definitely not be a bad option for the locals.

475  Other / Meta / Re: Flaming on BTCTalk - should it be tolerated if yes dhould one respond in kind? on: November 15, 2015, 12:56:10 PM
Could you provide links to the flaming that you've described. I don't want to waste time searching for them. As far as your website is concerned, you should improve it (should help you get more customers) but it's okay if you do not have time. Most people can't even put that together so just ignore the flamers. They're probably jealous because they have zero skills.

476  Other / Meta / Flaming on BTCTalk - should it be tolerated if yes dhould one respond in kind? on: November 14, 2015, 11:57:54 AM
Well, if you were to look back to my post history. I showed my website, tommorisonwebdesign.com. It was a quick website that I put together as a holding place for my web applications. I was abused and flamed, called a horrible programmer, since I did not use Twitter~s bootstrap.css file every other site uses and it was said I would never be good. Now people are calling me a "whore" for creating a innocent thread on the dangers of gambling. No matter what I do, I'm flamed.

The abuse comes mostly from Hero Members. Spending a lot of time at home in front of a computer apparently means you can insult people online. I am now taking my time developing two websites for my portfolio, but even then I bet I will be called a horrile programmer who iwll never improve. Lots of these flamers write abusive posts and get paid via sig campaigns.

I will admit to uncivil comments myself, but most of the time i am only responding to incivility. It is illogical to give up coding because some jackass says something online. Am I going to stop improving: Fuck no.

As for making posts, I have a rule to write at least four sentences in a reply and a few paragraphs when creating a thread. People stil bitch an whine about me innocently posting and trying to contribute to discussion simply because I have a sig campaign. It's allowed. Personal abuse does not make your point.

So I am now opening up discussion to this unproductive behaviour. Unless you can explain to me how insulting me or my coding skills is at all useful, let me know. I got a thick skin on this forum; I understand a lot of people have no life whatsoever so I really do not care. However, I think there should be a rule against uncivil behaviour.
477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: November 14, 2015, 11:29:18 AM
Gambling is a-moral. It is neither good nor bad. There are a few professional gamblers out there, but they are very few. I am talking the truth. I get no advantage promoting gambling from my sig campaign, as some whiners bitch about.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Everyone looses in the long run on: November 13, 2015, 05:29:34 PM
.)) whores with signatures needs posts in gambling section, so they decided to create whole thread, how gaming is bad. this board is just amazing.

to topic, once you step to gamble, you already lost personally, regardless win/loss ratio and potentinal profit..

Wow, easy on the comments bro, totally ofensive.

People just needs to argue about long run here, and this depends at all in not getting emotional.

this shit what you just posted will be paid also?
479  Other / Off-topic / Re: what you like best in Bitcoin ? on: November 13, 2015, 01:31:19 PM
That I can convert them to real cash fast. 1 business day.

Have you heard about bitcoin debit cards?
If no then you can convert your bitcoin to cash instantly in ATMs.
The disadvantage is that the fees of the card are a bit high. (Check bit-x, xapo...)
And it is not available worldwide

Well it depends on which country you are.
Bit-x has some restriction that you can verify and upgrade to Level 2.
Have you checked also e-coin.io ? You need to convert first the bitcoin to $, € then going to ATMs to withdraw?
Not to mention it is illegal in some countries. I'm on vacation in Brazil ATM and here, it is restricted. If I needed to get real down here I would have to do a face to face transaction in the Brazillian capital on Localbitcoin.com. Not worth the risk in my opinion. I'll just wait until I return to Canada to spend my coins.
480  Economy / Gambling / Re: I just won 13.3 BTC! Life is good on: November 13, 2015, 01:27:05 PM
Congratulations on your earnings. If I were you I would go on vacation with that prize money. Either way go and spoil yourself with that winnings.
