461  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Social media is a breeding ground for scamers, be intelligent while you explore on: February 03, 2024, 03:32:21 AM
Scammers take advantage of unsuspecting individuals, especially newcomers just starting their crypto journey. I witnessed fake airdrops, impersonations, and fraudulent investment schemes there. Unfortunately, these scams often appear authentic, making it challenging for newcomers to distinguish between genuine opportunities and fraudulent activities. I have warned them and advising not to follow information on social media blindly and they should turn to reputable sources like here in this forum for education instead. This forum filters out misinformation and provides a safer learning and discussion space.
462  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Learning comes before earning on: February 03, 2024, 03:11:20 AM
I agree, focus on putting effort into learning and gaining knowledge and not rushing into the desire for quick gains or profits.
Trading is a gradual process that requires a solid foundation of understanding and skills, the temptation for fast money can often lead to mistakes and setbacks. It takes time to understand the market, and strategies and manage risk which are essential for long-term success.
463  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Help out Decentralized Gambling Research - Win $40 in BTC✨ on: February 03, 2024, 02:41:18 AM
This survey is anonymous, we don't look at individual responses but only look at the bigger picture how different datapoints influence each other. It is also possible to skip some of the questions.
I'm not an expert in decentralized gambling, but I'm a fan and interested in learning more. Perhaps you could offer some introductory resources or reading materials?

You can consider sharing the survey on other communities or platforms like Reddit forums (r/CryptoGambling) and social media groups like LinkedIn groups, Twitter, Facebook, and Discord, focused on blockchain and gambling. Another forum would be Altcointalks. The wider the reach, the more representative the data will be.

By the way, I have a few questions:
Is the survey available in multiple languages to reach a broader audience?
Can you elaborate on how the anonymized data will be used and analyzed in the research?
Has the study received ethical approval from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga?
464  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Ripple Co-founder nahack on: February 03, 2024, 01:58:20 AM
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US wants to know bitcoin electricity usage in the country on: February 02, 2024, 03:59:40 PM
The EIA has conducted a rigorous evaluation of U.S. crypto mining activities using public data and estimated it to represent as much as 2.2% of U.S. electricity consumption.

The University of Cambridge’s Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index estimated worldwide Bitcoin mining used 121.13 terawatt-hours of electricity in 2023. The entire country of the Netherlands, with more than 17 million people, consumed 121.6 terawatt-hours in 2022.
https://www.cnet.com/home/energy-and-utilities/how-much-power-does-crypto-use-the-government-wants-to-know

While it’s understandable to have concerns about what the administration might do with this data, it’s also important to remember that understanding the energy consumption of Bitcoin mining could lead to more informed policies and regulations. It could potentially lead to innovations that make Bitcoin mining more energy-efficient, or it could influence the development of renewable energy projects. Let’s hope for a positive outcome.
466  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does a country borrow money from the world bank even when they can afford it on: February 02, 2024, 03:22:33 PM
Governments need revenue to operate and fund services such as healthcare, education, and the military. This revenue usually comes from taxes paid by citizens and businesses and from levies on certain goods or duties on imports. However, when the spending of the government exceeds the income it earns, it leads to a condition called a deficit. To make up for this difference, the government needs to borrow money.

Similarly, when there is a desire for expansion or development in other projects or infrastructure, the government allocates a portion of its revenue for that purpose. If the allocated funds are not sufficient, the government resorts to borrowing to finance additional projects and improvements.
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are people still interested in bankroll investment ? on: February 02, 2024, 12:58:34 PM
Perhaps others see this as a long-term approach to capitalize on potential growth. But here in the popular and reputable casinos in this forum, it seems that there is no one offering this kind of bankroll investment feature, maybe because there is not much interest in it anymore. It's also difficult to trust new casinos that offer bankroll investment, especially when the platform is not well-established. Some other casinos, utilize a staking feature using their coins or tokens. This may have replaced the traditional bankroll investment using Bitcoin.
468  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: February 02, 2024, 04:01:48 AM
Actually I got this as well and I signed up for it. Its legit. But one week of no trading fees isn't really that big of a bonus. Supposedly they are reimbursing me for transfer fees, but so far I have just received about 120 pesos from them in return. That's OK, better than nothing.
Yup, correct. I asked the Coins Champion Control Center to confirm, and they said it was legit. He's suggesting that I apply, but I'm not active in trading. Maybe I'll try it when I need to.

Mahirap talaga pag napapagod na sa mga bagay na inaasahan mong magbibigay ng malaking kita tapos nauuwi sa lugi. it's a valuable lesson for everyone to be cautious and not get swayed too easily by promises of high profits.
471  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead. on: February 01, 2024, 12:21:36 AM
Thank you all for the detailed explanations. It's starting to make more sense now. I appreciate your patience in helping me understand the intricacies of Bitcoin transactions. You clarified the concepts, and hopefully, this will help me better understand my future Bitcoin transactions. If I have any more questions, I'll be sure to reach out. Thanks again!
472  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead. on: January 31, 2024, 02:40:35 PM
The more the inputs and outputs, the more the fee. The second output will likely be the change address (the address you will receive your change). The difference in the fee will be minimal.

The output is the number of addresses that you are sending to. If your coin has change, it would be sent to the change address.
I can't understand the part that is in bold. I'm confused, sorry.

-snip
If you disable 2FA, your wallet would be still a 2 of 3 multi-signature wallet, but with two master private keys.
Of the 2 master private keys, one of them is for my receiving wallet address, is that correct? and the other one is?

-snip
If you want your transaction to include only 1 output, you should spend the entire balance of selected UTXOs, so that your transaction doesn't have any change.
So what I need to do is just send the maximum amount of the current multi-signature wallet to a standard wallet, right?

Thanks again for the help.
473  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Marvin Favis na scam? on: January 31, 2024, 02:25:50 PM

I do not have any problem and do not see any problem if a newbie teaches me something that I didn't know. For example, let's say I don't know how to use the CPFP feature with my electrum wallet, and suddenly a newbie suggested to me the way I could do it, do you see anything wrong here? I joined this forum in 2022, but that does not mean I didn't know about Bitcoin before 2022.

So, What if I came to this forum and guided a legendary about how he should use a feature of Electrum wallet? Would you ignore my valid suggestions just because my forum rank is newbie? I have created a thread to discuss this thing a few weeks ago and a lot of people agreed with my point.
I understand your point. I believe that not everyone knows everything; there are still things that one person may not know but others do. Our experiences vary, and so do our perspectives. Everyone can contribute to a better experience for all users, regardless of their level of experience. We all start somewhere, and the learning process is ongoing.
475  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead. on: January 31, 2024, 08:48:44 AM
About the arrow, if you back it once, you will see your wallet details.

I confirm that there's no longer any extra fee when I send.
Also that the wallet synchronized with the blockchain, so you are able to spend your coins.
Yup, correct.

Is there a way to make this disabled 2FA wallet to a standard wallet besides sending bitcoins to a standard wallet?

And also coming back to the comment of Sunderland on my first post, he mentioned that "The fees are not affected by the amount of BTC you send, but it depends on the outputs of that transaction.
e.g: Sending 3 outputs of $20 will be more expensive in fees than sending 1 output of $20."

So since there is no extra fee covering that 1 output, there are now only 2 outputs. What is the basis of the outputs? How can it be to be 1 output only?

Like on this screenshot below:

I was unable to recover the 2FA on Android just as Text posted. The error I got was different but it was an error. I tried it the first and second time with the same error. Test is using a mobile phone for it.
I also tried to import a 2FA seed phrase into the android version of electrum to see how it works and got the following error.

I cleated electrum's cache to see if it solves the problem. It didn't and I got the same error again.
After that, I cleared all electrum's data from my device and then imported a 2FA wallet. It worked.

It seems that once you create your first wallet in electrum, it no longer allows you to import a 2FA wallet.
This is also the prompt error that I encountered on my second attempt.

@Text

I tried what hosseinimr93 posted and it worked. If you do not have any other wallet on the wallet app, you can just reinstall the wallet or delete the wallet storage data, that will make your wallet new as if you have just downloaded it. To do that, long press on the wallet app and select app info which is represented with i within a circle on Android 14. Or just go to phone settings, select and click on app management to look for Electrum app and go to its wallet information. I tried it and it worked.

Thank you very much for the help, I appreciate it.

I have already disabled the 2FA, but when I checked the wallet details, this is what appeared on the screen:

When I click "show report contents," this appears:

I confirm that there's no longer any extra fee when I send.
477  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead. on: January 30, 2024, 02:32:22 PM
This is what to do:

Can I do that using the existing Electrum Android wallet app?
I tried earlier, but after entering the 12-seed phrase, the finish button is not clickable.
Is there a step-by-step guide to follow?
Yes. You can use the existing wallet app. Click on your wallet name at the upper right corner -> other wallets -> create wallet-> name your wallet or go by the default name -> wallet with two-factor authentication -> I already have a seed -> input the seed phrase -> disable 2FA and proceed.
I followed this step but after clicking the next button, I got this error

Please see the attached screenshot below:

Yes, you can disable the 2FA. While importing the seed phrase on Electrum, you will see where you will disable the 2FA.

479  Bitcoin / Electrum / Remove 2FA in Electrum and use Standard Wallet instead. on: January 30, 2024, 01:29:09 PM
Need your help. I'm using Electrum on Android. I transferred my Bitcoin from my Trust Wallet to Electrum, setting up a wallet with 2FA. I didn't realize that there's a fee for using 2FA on Electrum at the time I did it, probably because I was eager to transfer the satoshis, fearing that my Trust Wallet might have been compromised.

I transferred it from Trust Wallet to Electrum last December, and on January 28, I attempted to make the first transaction. However, I was surprised to see an extra fee aside from the mining fee, so I inquired about it.

Here's the post I made in a thread:
The BTC fees is not expensive as before, only need less than $2 (mempool) to send a transaction with the size less than 250 bytes and it should be confirmed in the next block.
Yeah maybe, but look at my case. I'm trying to deposit 20 USD of BTC, but besides the mining fee, is there also an extra fee? And I think paying 9.68 USD for 20 USD is still expensive. It's already the same amount that I'll bet on a single match. I don't know if there's anything else I should do.

Please see the attached screenshot below.

I see, you have used the 2FA service/TrustedCoin 2FA in your Electrum wallet and that is not a free service.
That is why there is an Extra Fee, I suggest to use a standard electrum wallet.
For more info kindly read here: https://api.trustedcoin.com/#/faq

And for the mining/transaction fees, there are some outputs in your BTC address which caused the fees are a bit expensive.
The fees are not affected by the amount of BTC you send, but it depends on the outputs of that transaction.
e.g: Sending 3 outputs of $20 will be more expensive in fees than sending 1 output of $20.

I still don't have an Electrum wallet on my laptop, as I am worried that my machine might not be safe since I already had other compromised wallets before.

I hope that the experts here can answer and help me with some of my questions.

Is it possible to disable 2FA on my current wallet address? If yes, how? If not, what should be my first step? How can I restore it using the seed phrase to remove the 2FA? I followed the instructions on the TrustedCoin FAQ page but I need more guidance. Do I need to restore it on a new or different device?

Thank you

Dapat nga sa sitwasyon mo, sila ang unang makakaintindi kasi meron din silang trading feature, they buy and sell bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
