461  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever drop below 2500 ? on: August 12, 2017, 02:54:33 AM
it could quite easily, but I think it will depend where the next ath lands, say, it get to 10 K then the floor might be at 3K.

I feel the scaling debate has held btc back for over a year and we are seeing catch up now.
462  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: August 10, 2017, 11:37:38 PM
only in crypto could it get this confusing who has what and is doing what this fast .... I mean most organisations get FBI'd then end off, but whole new layers of into the looking glass is going on here ....

honey pots
ICO's
legal actions
etc etc

i suspect that if any cold wallets are seized and coins available a good portion of it goes to the first agent to be able to do this I mean how would you stop them really?

In fact I am sure this is a personal enrichment scheme the alphabet soup panoply of abc agencies.

Some agent/officer high enough up figures they can order a bust and be first on the scene or one of thier more loyeal agents to get the coins (maybe they split the profits) and then they quietly send themselves the coins.

In this case one can just imagine the discussion that happened over a Boston Boys dinner time.

"From the BTC-e team we officially inform that all the funds that were in the reserve fund (including all our income) were transferred to pay off the debts."

what is this reserve fund, and who are they paying debts to, do they mean to us the users...?

I think those who sleep in fiat, should bare the loss of having their funds frozen, those who had coins that should have been or were on encrypted storage should not have to bear fiat holders choices

Sooooo

are blackbytes being traded anywhere?
465  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can bitcoin hit 3500$ in 2018?  ??? on: August 08, 2017, 10:37:05 AM
the price has been held down by scaling debates and uncertainty about that....

that said there will be and epic shake out on the correction
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is amazing on: August 08, 2017, 10:26:53 AM
My question is for long term is it better to wait or is the price going to keep rising. Maybe we have a new bottom?
I know it's speculation but curious what people are thinking.

I am 100% certain that it is going to go to $1,000,000 per 1 BTC in the future.

I am so certain about this, that I am willing to commit to pay you 10 BTC if it never reaches an exchange rate of $1,000,000 per 1 BTC.

you know ... the more i think about it and see ... 1 M a coin is possible....it may have forked to a pos coin though by that time

Be careful with bittrex if you are an unverified user. They just dropped their withdrawal limit from 1BTC to 0.025 BTC without warning.

so no warning....before they did that.....
468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 08, 2017, 03:26:35 AM
So did the blackbytes come?

I only can see GB?
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 07, 2017, 02:24:27 AM
Why do you guys think iconomi is selling its stake in byteballs? They dont see a future for byteball, once the distribution is over? Its good for the distribution though.

because they want to sell before the new supply comes on and have enough byteball that they don't care

They can probably by back a lot lower after there sell plus market sell.

It significantly spreads risk for them without much down side, I mean they are about to get a whole load more of byteball.....so why would they not do this?
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Digital Assets Management Platform on: August 06, 2017, 11:29:48 PM

471  Bitcoin / Electrum / ok gap limit and print wallet.create_new_address(False) on: August 06, 2017, 08:18:14 AM
for some reason in 2.9.2 this

print wallet.create_new_address(False)

and

wallet.change_gap_limit(25)

are not working.....

does the wallet have to be connected to a server for this or can it be done offline
472  Bitcoin / Electrum / sign lots of mesages from different addresses on: August 06, 2017, 06:06:13 AM
Does the MPK or Privkeys or seed become more derivable if you sign or use more addresses::

[1] for addresses that have been used for sending For older electrum wallets

[2] for addresses that have been used for receiving For older electrum wallets

[3] for addresses that have been used for receiving current electrum

[4] for addresses that have been used for sending current electrum

note you never expose any priv address or MPK in this scenerio

also how strong is it to reuse a key.

I am thinking particularly of say
http://www.nilsschneider.net/2013/01/28/recovering-bitcoin-private-keys.html

type attacks

I know have asked this sorta before but want to check again

Update from btc-e admin (my own translation):
"Update4!

Current information:

1. We have access to our database and wallets, at the moment we are checking our data, cryptocurrency balances, this information will be published till next week end.
2. We confirm that our main financial flows were associated with Mayzus Financial Services Ltd and at the moment this money are seized/arrested.

With respect, btc-e support"

It will the the ultimate indictment of the current banking and legal system where the so called "criminals" give the coins back after they are raided by so called "good people".

476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 04, 2017, 12:05:01 AM

I have followed these steps:

1)Installed electron cash on a computer that doesn't have your Bitcoin wallet or any information about your Bitcoin.

2) When you get to the option to select new wallet etc. Select you have a existing seed or master seed. This is your list of twelve words that you got when you did a backup of your Mycelium wallet

Type the words in with spaces. Example "one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve"

You'll notice that the next box in the lower rightbcorner is greyed out

Click the Options box. Put a check in the BIP138 box

Now the next box is available. Click next and when the wallet connects to the Bitcoin cash server you will see your Bitcoin cash balance.

After following all these steps, my bitcoin cash balance is showing as 0. Is there something wrong I am doing? How I can know, it has connected to MyCelium wallet?

I would not install electron cash anywhere right now....

how do you associate a new or specific Byteball address with the Blackbyte distribution?

or are you stuck with the default?Huh
Copy and paste - the bot accepts the address (just like a BTC address), followed by the usual dialog

To find your BB-adresses with balance:
use cogwheel (next to the wallet name) -> advanced -> wallet information -> scroll down -> balance by adresses
Maybe also helpful: https://byteball.fr/BBdistribution.php

Edit: added link

when i copy and paste my byte ball address it asks me sign a btc address to is as per the documentation.
so it does not re assign the black bytes address
Maybe a misunderstanding

There are two ways to participate in this distribution:
A. You link Bitcoin which you own or borrowed
B. You buy some Bytes (not Blackbytes !) or get them from a third party and have to link them (It is necessary to link the Bytes to receive also Blackbytes).

So there is no need to link an address where only blackbytes are located!
Blackbytes do not participate in the distribution, so their price (currently) is much lower.

To link a specific BB-address, send the BB-address to the bot via copy paste, then he will ask for the associated BTC address...
Linkin means to create a pairing from a BTC and one or more BB addresses: BB address <-> BTC address .
Once the BB-address is assigned to any BTC-address (can also be empty) this BB-address is linked.
(It is not about to send  a BB address anywhere or register it somewhere.)

The other way is, simply follow the bot dialog and then consolidate your bytes (not Blackbytes !) on the linked BB address. (The bot tells you the corresponding BB-address)

Summary:
Blackbytes do not participate in the distribution.
To link Bytes, you always need also a BTC address (..to make a pairing BB-address<->BTC-adress ...that's what we call linking).
The BTC-address can also be empty, the amounts on the BB address are then taken into account when the blackbytes are distributed (Bytes -> Blackbytes)
The linking of Bytes is only necessary to receive blackbytes as the blackbytes can not be distributed without linking due to their private properties.
If you try to assign a BTC address to several BB addresses, the BTC address is blacklisted.

black bytes get ~ 0.4 x B held asfaik

You also receive 0.42222 blackbytes for each 1 byte of your balance on the linked Byteball address, which currently is:

does the transition bot send the signed signature anywhere or does it check locally?
