461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gateless Gate: zawawa's open-source ZEC/ETH/XMR/PASC miner (453 sol/s on 7990) on: February 08, 2017, 06:14:43 PM
Building LLVM is taking forever, so I have to entertain myself with something else...
So I have been thinking for quite some time about adding a nice graphical user interface/remote monitor to Gateless Gate, and I think I want to go with MultiMiner as somebody suggested here a while ago:

https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner

It's open-source, compatible with sgminer, and seems to be feature-complete with automatic currency-switching.
What do you guys think?

This is a good idea, it would make it more user friendly, which would help the average people who might have a good gpu but is using it only for gaming and doesn't want to mess with command windows.

But I think you shouldn't bother with comfort functions like this only if you really have notjhng to do Cheesy

Are there any details on what can we expect from hard forking?

464  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: February 08, 2017, 10:16:36 AM
Not sure about Samsung's capacity to manufacture for bitcoin mining companies. So far i think BW is the only one sourcing from them. the rest are all at TSMC. If Samsung does manage to take 10nm to the market, vendors like Qualcomm, Apple, etc with deep pockets would likely take priority to get orders. And TSMC's 12nm is actually a revised version from 16nm architecture, which is not a genuine 12nm.

Well yeah, TSMC's 12 nm is just a shrink of the existing 16 nm but they are preparing a 10 nm node as well. So that's why I tought it might be a possible solution as the big companies would obviously go with the 10 nm process, so the 12 nm could be more affordable (and availible) for the smaller ASIC industry.

Just out of curiosity. As Samsung's 10 nm process is already in mass production phase and TSMC's 12 nm will come soon as well. Is it planned in the near future to develop more efficient ASICs using these technologies?
466  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Post your SegWit questions here - open discussion - big week for Bitcoin! on: February 07, 2017, 08:44:46 PM
So the problem of the miners is that segwit won't change the block size, or at least the right to change will remain at the devs. But segwit helps by reducing the size of transactions so more transaction can be included in a block. Right?
No. Segwit actually redefines the block size as block weight and this will increase the block size. The actual size of the block data that your node downloads will be larger. In terms of the current transaction and block definitions, then yes, it reduces the size of the transaction and thus more transactions can fit in a block.

Thanks. Now I get it Smiley

OK, thanks  Wink

Shouldn't it be easier to just vote for segwit to enhance the development of BTC and than later argue about block size?
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PiCoin [POS] [NO ICO] [SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN][AIRDROP] on: February 07, 2017, 07:26:55 PM
Nice. Things start to getting interesting Smiley
I'm also thinking about making a logo. Is there already a decided deadline or we should just post them here and see what the results will be?
470  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: February 07, 2017, 07:18:39 PM
Well one driving factor is I think that the Chinese people are buying lot of BTC thue to the weakening of CNY.
471  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: February 07, 2017, 02:41:18 PM
Last time it also started to increase rapidly around 1050$, maybe histori repeats itself Cheesy

BTW was there a particular reason for the price increse last time (that started in December?).
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [KMD] Komodo speculation on: February 07, 2017, 02:15:18 PM
Well it is quite probable, the same way as PASC did it. But only for a short term IMO. Then comes the dump..
Just think about it, with 100k satoshi it will be in top10 marketcap.
473  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: February 07, 2017, 11:21:11 AM
If the current trend continues we might see an another test to break the highest price in about a week. But this time the price seems to rise slower than in January, so it might slow down completely and stabilize around here. But of course it's just one opinion. In the crypto world anything is possible Cheesy
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [KMD] Komodo speculation on: February 07, 2017, 11:10:20 AM
In the KMD ANN they say

Quote
The following exchange rates were calculated after the ICO:

1 BTC = 7746,521995 KMD (0.00012909 BTC/KMD)
1 BTCD = 50,42041779 KMD

I think this is probably a support level, so I don't expect the price to drop under this. What do you think?

(But there is obvoiusly a great potential to rise when a big exchange lists the KMD.)

Well, DCR looks really promising this year. I was a bit worried when the price went below 0.5$, but I'm happy that I did not dump it. Cheesy
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [Poll] Do you think Zcash price will cross 100 USD in 2017? on: February 06, 2017, 11:23:24 PM
Yeah sadly... The buy side seems to be weak novadays on the exchanges as new coins emerge (like PASC and KMD).

I'm out of Zcash for now, later might buy back on lower levels as it looks promising but the dvelopement seems slow.
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Hybrid PoW/PoS | btcsuite Devs | Tons of New Features | Go on: February 06, 2017, 11:00:21 PM
So then it will use the PoW/PoS system forever.

So in this case I was wondering wether decred uses the same kind of block reward halving as bitcoin or others to avoid inflation but it seems that I found the answer here. Btw thanks for the answers.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: February 06, 2017, 09:15:17 PM

Cryptopia KMD wallet is down for Maintenance...probably related to all these other issues.

It seems to be live now. Already got my deposit there.
479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: February 06, 2017, 08:58:13 PM
Sorry if it's already been asked, but Is there a chance that KMD will be availible on Poloniex in the future? It could boost its price like what happened with PASC.

Is that a serious question?  Of course there's a chance it will be added.  The question is what is the chance...what is the probability it will be added in the next 24 hrs or next week or next month, etc.

And it is #17 on Coinmarketcap.com right now so it has a greater chance to be added than the overwhelming majority of other cryptocurrencies.

It is #21 in daily volume and exchanges generate most of their profits from trading volume commissions, so that makes it more attractive to Poloinex.

But they probably aren't going to add it until the block explorer works correctly for a week or longer and all these other issues are resolved.

Thanks, I've made the question a bit silly with the chance Cheesy Of course I meant to ask about its possibility in the near future, but it seems to be impossible to know when. Poloniex doesn't announces new coins only when they are live on the exchange right? (At least I couldn't find any news from before previous new coin listings)
