Hackers will keep on hacking but exchanges won't learn ever and it's shame that how these exchanges take users for granted. Now BTER will start another round of negotiations with hackers and beg for BTC.
Do you think the hacker will keep their bounty instead to keep the +7k bitcoin? There will not be the threat of the fork ( as in the 50 mln of nxt robbed).

OMG it has happened again, every time that bitcoin is in a good way another hack....
I am afraid that bter users are not going to recover their bitcoins
Yes One after another scammer hacking every site. I dont think these are scammer that hacking these site its their own site owner who are hacking the sites. Now i also lost my 3$ in this site ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) . Its not the point that i only lost my 3$ but the point is How i can safe my BTC when all the site going down every day? Well, its a matter of statistic, only leave coins on an exchange for those minutes/hours it is needed to exchange, and hope you don't get caught in the middle of a hack. Else NEVER leave coins at exchanges for longer time. As I told before a simple use of the multi-Sig "function" could avoid this type of situation (check greenAddress and see how it is easy to use). What is the greenAddress and where i can get it.? GreenAddress is the future! I'm very impressed that a lot of people aren't using it. If you want a strong security you should start to use it for "save" your coin. Here the official thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521988.0 Are you sure we can use greenAddress as a safe wallet? There isn't anything in this world that is sure at 100% , I think you know that. With greenAddress (GA) you can rise your level of security much more than the other webWallets. If you want more security use an hardwallet with greenAddress and you are more safe.

Its funny how they claim and promise all these securities and cold storages and end up getting hacked.
No that's not the funniest part, the funniest part is the fact that its yet another Chinese market and apparently every Chinese market has been shutdown and or hacked until now. Just an easy way out for them in my eyes. Really Cold Wallet? Inside job!!! The BitCoin association needs to ban all Markets from trading with BitCoin in China. I think the same No one can hack the cold wallet its there own member who scam us when ever they want. After withdrawing all of there money they used the word "HACK" Thats sounds great There aren't rules for the various exchanges, so it could be an hack attack or an "inside job" or everything. Now I hope the people will stop to keep their "coins" on an exchange ( here the service discussion : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=956738.0).

7k Bitcoin minimum stolen 'by Bter' the shady exchange no one should have trusted ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) wow 7k hacked that is pretty insane im guessing this is why the market dropped so hard today, people expecting dumps. The various exchanges should start to use the multi-Sig function, an example of wallet that is using multiSing : GreenAddress ( this is their official thread here in the forum : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521988.0). I'm very impressive that a lot of exchanges are not using it. Makes you start thinking these hacks are staged if multisig is so easy to implement. I think it will be impossible to "send" coin from a multiSig bitcoin address, if you don't know at least 2 of the 3 private keys. If they will use the multiSig (for their cold/hot wallet) I think this type of situation could be avoided.

I hope that now a lot of people learned the lesson, never keep your money on an exchange. The unique way could be : these exchange should start to use multiSig "function" (for example with greenAddress) for their cold wallet ( the bter's cold wallet wasn't a real cold wallet ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) ).

Breaking: Bter Hacked, 50M NXT Stolen by Ian DeMartino @ 2014-08-15 01:58 PMBter had been hacked before (some NXT coins were stolen) and they didn't close. Thus it now appears that they were actually hacked... ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Oh sorry , I read 15-02 ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) .

However, do someone from you "noticed" that the hacker(s) has (have) put 0:zero as fee in each TX ? In the bitStamp attack I remember the fees were 0.05- 0.25 (and more) btc.

Ofcause you cannot redraw 7000 BTC at once without getting caught, so the 7x1000 BTC will be long time storage (properly many years) and the left overs that is in the mixer will go to one heck of a party.
It is possible to trace the stolen money even through a mixer, provided the mixer owner is willing to cooperate... ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Yes it can possible to trace them, but it will also "impossible" to recover it. The transaction is irreversible and the hacker/s is good, very good (much more than bter.com).

--snip some exchanger have lost more than 7k btc, and none of their customers have lost anything. --snip
Which exchange was that? I think he meant bitStamp, but maybe I'm wrong. However , this is a really bad situation. Why do the exchanges not use the multiSig function ?
|
|
|
I'll check in my pocket if I chase them back
Now what will happen? Will they refund all their "customers"? What do you think?
|
|

Never keep your "coins" in an exchange, this is the first rule. However we should wait news from them, I don't think they has been hacked.
It seems that they have scammed on us (I presumably lost over 3.5 BTC there)... ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) No, I don't think they have scammed. Most probable they are fixing something on their site (level "side").
