4701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 02, 2017, 08:43:44 AM
Great instructions. I guess it is best to wait right now until end of August as I see. We can safely deposit our bitcoins if we never claim our bcc right? I guess so. My bcc value is very insignificant so I am wondering if I can keep using my old "before the split" wallet with btc.
At this point there is not much to worry about anymore. The only form of hindrance you might experience is that services and exchanges might not yet have continued their operations, or in case they have, they temporarily require more confirmations for deposits. Just in case, you as well should wait for a few more confirmations, althought it isn't explicitly a necessity - better safe than sorry they say.

-snip-
Common sense tips;

1- People shouldn't install the crappy BCC client on the same machine they have their regular Bitcoin client installed.
1.5- Install your BCC client on a seperate machine.
2-  Only send BCC from an address that has no more BTC in it.

This pretty well explains your problem, and offers a solution to fix it; https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/6qyn18/electroncash_notice_how_to_select_bitcoincash/

Thanks for this link.

However I have tried to install electroncash on my mac, but it always fails to even launch. So currently i have my wallet on my android phone as an apk file. I can definitely uncheck auto-connect to server, but then it doesn't give me a list of servers to connect to that apparently does show up on the desktop version.

I'll try to download the electron cash client for mac again, hopefully it will work this time round.

Thanks for your help!
4702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Suggestion For BCC Wallet? on: August 02, 2017, 08:13:45 AM
Used Electron-Cash two test transactions got confirmed. You need to manually choose BCC nodes or it will show Bitcoin instead.
(Mac version)

I'm running on Mac as well, and i downloaded the dmg file and opened it up, but every time i do so it just crashes for no reason. Did you have a similar problem or no?

I've installed it on my android phone successfully though, i'm not sure where to find the BCC nodes. Mind telling me where to find them or give me the info? Thanks in advance!

OP, I would definitely not be bothered to sync the entire bitcoin blockchain with Bitcoin ABC, bitcoin unlimited etc. just to claim a few bucks on bitcoin cash so yeah, i would go with electron cash as well if i were you. However as DocSynd3r said you do have to manually choose BCC servers, otherwise it's running on bitcoin still.
4703  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Looking for BTC to buy, pay with: Neteller, paypal on: August 02, 2017, 08:07:32 AM
The issue is that I've been looking for an exchange for the last two weeks but in vain because I'm from Mauritius Island and most of the exchanges doesn't operate here or can't do bank transfers from here Sad

I did not want to buy on paxful because the rates are really high and the reason I'm buying BTC is to keep as long term investment. I would buy even if the rates is slightly higher than the current market rates but buying regularly at $500 higher is too much for me or do you think it is a good deal? (newbie here and any advice would be appreciated).

I can also go through any other types of payment if it's available from where I am Smiley

Thank you for your reply.

Ah, i see what you mean.

What i suggest you do is, get your paypal funds exchanged to perfectmoney/payeer by either withdrawing your funds to your bank account first, then funding your PM account, and then exchanging from PM to BTC is easy. I can do that as well. But that's probably going to incur a lot of fees in itself so yeah, not really worth the trouble unless you're super desperate.

Another way is that you can send cash in mail, i can do this if you can send it in AUD(my local currency). There is a risk of your mail getting stolen though, again probably not the best way. Do you have no banking services available in your country? If yes then SWIFT transfers would work...

IS paypal funds all you have?
4704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can I redeem my Bitcoin Cash in Electrum ? on: August 02, 2017, 07:57:24 AM
I've seen a few post trying to manually connect to a bcc server...but they are all ''lagging'' and so on.

What are your solution to redeem BCC with Electrum ?

I've already send my btc elsewhere by the way.

I'm interested in knowing how did you even manage to find the bitcoin cash nodes/servers to connect to? Could you please link me? That would be greatly appreciated because i downloaded electron cash thinking that it would automatically connect to the bitcoin cash servers but it's actually still connected to the bitcoin servers for some reason, even though it's only marketed as a bitcoin cash client.

Since you're using electrum, maybe try using electron cash? I have no idea, but this might help.

Either way, let me know how you found the servers to connect to for bitcoin cash.

Thank you!
4705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 02, 2017, 07:53:19 AM
@Lauda or anyone else that has the knowledge, do you have any idea how to connect to a bitcoin cash node? It's really confusing because i downloaded the electron cash wallet, and it shows my balance in BCC units but when i send the BCC it actually sends it on the bitcoin blockchain instead of the bitcoin cash blockchain. Thankfully i didn't have a connection at the time meaning that i didn't send bitcoin to a bitcoin cash deposit address on an exchange which could have potentially caused a lot of unnecessary trouble.

Please let me know how i can connect to bitcoin cash nodes so i can send it to an exchange. Thank you.
4706  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Looking for BTC to buy, pay with: Neteller, paypal on: August 02, 2017, 07:46:36 AM
Hello everyone,

Looking for BTC to buy at today's exchange rate.

Thank you Smiley

Neteller and paypal are two of the most reversible methods out there, so i don't think that anyone is going to sell bitcoins(completely irreversible payment method, after confirmations ofc) for these payment methods to a newbie that literally just registered for the sole purpose of doing this trade.

Build up your reputation so that more people have trust in you, and prove that you're not just here to scam.

Also buying at spot rate is pretty much impossible with these payment methods especially if you have low trust. Be prepared to pay for a premium. I'd actually suggest going to paxful and searching for deals, you're likely to find more success there than here.
4707  Economy / Speculation / Re: With the Hard Fork coming, will anyone who has BTC will Get BCC?? on: July 30, 2017, 08:37:31 AM
I have a Question, I have heard that with the Hard Fork coming this 1st of August, if you own BTC you will get also the same amount of BCC, but the question is how will you get the BCC, will your wallet or exchange open another wallet for you and get you there the BCC or how will that work?

For instance if you have your BTC on the wallet blockchain.info, will they get your BCC in the same wallet or in another one? In case you have BTC in a exchange like Kraken or Coinbase, will they also get you your BCC? or how will it work?

I'm pretty sure that blockchain.info won't accept BCC. However you do hold your own private keys on blockchain.info which means if they don't have support for BCC you can always download the official bitcoin cash client and claim your bitcoin cash that way.

Just keep in mind that bitcoin cash is probably going to drop dramatically in value because of the fact that it has no real usage outside of speculative purposes. So you might want to dump it the first opportunity you get.

If you're using coinbase, transfer your coin out IMMEDIATELY. Else you may not be able to claim your BCC when the blockchain snapshot is taken on 1st August.
4708  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Fork Lead to Massive Short Squeeze? on: July 30, 2017, 08:00:13 AM
If you make enough money off shorting bitcoin, then of course, you would be able to pay off both your bitcoin core loan and your bitcoin cash loan. That is, if the crash was severe enough. Plus, the post chain-split bitcoin + bitcoin cash price should equate to around the same as the pre chain-split bitcoin price. So I see no reason why a shorter cannot benefit from shorting.

I think that the short squeeze has already come. A lot of people have been forced to liquidate their positions when the price rose to over $2500. They thought the panic dump would come before the fork but it obviously did not.

Will it lead to a short squeeze after the fork? I don't know. But it sure can.
4709  Economy / Lending / Re: My loan request 0.024 btc on: July 30, 2017, 07:51:51 AM
Loan Amount: 0.024 btc
Reason: Private
BTC Address: 13UtfYyS21d1aJ8JdMTNZRS8SsL8tELDKZ
Term Length: 2 weeks
Collateral: 4870000 f-16 coins, which may be sent as yobicode on your account
If my account bitcointalk worth something,I may get loan based on bitcointalk account price, tell me.

I was surprised for a sec that some newbie with neg trust finally offered collateral, but that dream was quickly crushed when i went to yobit and decided to search up what f16 was. Not surprisingly, it was just another shitcoin with a 5 btc sell wall at 1 satoshi per coin and no open buy orders.

I'm sure that you know what valid collateral is. So offer something valid, or don't expect to get a loan.

Your account isn't worth jackshit. low rank accounts can be created anytime you want or i want. They don't cost anything. Plus, you already are tagged by two DT members for doing the same shit you are doing now.

Give up dude...
4710  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC Fork & How it will change Bitcoin? on: July 30, 2017, 07:48:21 AM
So, as you all know, we are receiving emails and notifications from Coinbase, Bitstamp etc about the upcoming Hard and Soft fork!

I am curious to have  discussion about what is going to happen to our BTC and what will develop with the BCC in terms of exchanging and new prices etc.

Well forks are common, they are simply network upgrades to maintain the bitcoin system so that it can scale properly.

There are definitely disputes however regarding how this should be done.

The bitcoin cash team has promised that it will activate a hard fork on 1st August, and essentially this will mean that if you download the bitcoin cash wallet you will be able to claim your "free" bitcoin cash, if you like. Basically it is similar to Ethereum Classic and Ethereum, there will be a chain split and two chains will fork off to different roads.

Scaling bitcoin is good. But i don't see much point in bitcoin cash being activated. It's not like anyone is going to use it or anything.

So all this being said, all the predictions lie fairly unanimously- slight disruption but ultimate strengthening of BTC. What is the anticipation for affect upon ETH, if any?

I'd assume minimal impact to Ethereum.

I wonder though, if we do have a hard fork, if the value of post hard fork BTC + BCC will equal the pre hard fork value of BTC.

True, but that's not taking into account people panic dumping in case of a hard fork.
4711  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Finding trusted payza exchanger on: July 30, 2017, 06:32:43 AM
I would suggest you use http://changer4u.com/. I have personally tested this out with my payza account which was also unverified(meaning that i can't do this internally with the payza to bitcoin option). Everything went well and received my paypal funds exchanged from payza within 3 days.

Just keep in mind when using it that anything involving payza isn't instantaneous and this is no different. It'll take around 3-5 days to get you an authorization from the payza team, and just don't freak out when you don't receive your coin instantly. Also, the rates aren't that good. Exchanging $50 payza to WMZ will only get you around $42 back, excluding fees.

Whatever you do, don't use indacoin. I used them once and it took them like a month to refund me because a problem from their end.
4712  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SFYL] BTC-E Busted and Shut Down Discussion Thread on: July 30, 2017, 06:27:38 AM
Well, so what happens to the BTC-e codes that are still floating around right now? Law enforcement going to redistribute btc-e's assets to cover that or just gunna seize everything like Libertyreserve?

They were pretty much one of the biggest money laundering services in existence... And they didn't even give a damn about legit people trying to deposit small amounts via bank wire especially, just ignored them on support(if there was even any) and banned them from chat because they compalined.

I'm not really up to date with the current news and half of the thread doesn't even make sense for me(Gleb's posts especially) but i did see btc-e's twitter account say that it was an unscheduled maintennance. So they were just flat out lying then?
4713  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2018 Coinmarketcap on: July 30, 2017, 06:21:15 AM
you just randomly edited the coinmarketcap.com page with complete random numbers without any logic behind them.
Bitcoin:
supply: 17,407,000
this is wrong, to reach this number it will take about 516 days in other words 1 year and 5 months and that will be in Jan 2019 but you said 2018!
and in a year the price you predicted ($7000+) is a too much in my opinion, by the end of 2018 maybe that can be possible.

Ethereum:
supply:
this is very wrong!
in a year from now ETH supply will be: 102,155,790 ETH
and if the timeframe is the same as your bitcoin edit (1 year and 5 months) the supply will be 105,764,965
price: with this kind of huge supply (~106 million) the price can NOT be high. and with the ICO dumps and all the bugs that eth has it will probably be around $10-$100 there simply is no way that price reaches $1000+ for this altcoin!!

i have also checked your rest of the numbers quickly and they are all wrong. and the supply of each coins and the rate they are being created at is going to affect their prices a lot.
you can see a lot of good information here: https://bitinfocharts.com/

Obviously he isn't doing everything perfecly. I'm sure that he was just trying to give people an idea of what he thinks the prices of bitcoin and other altcoins are going to and not caring too much about the specifics.

I agree with you. Ethereum is definitely not going to get up to $1000 when bitcoin is only at $7000. That's just impossible. Bitcoin is a pure cryptocurrency whilst Ethereum is purely used for ICOs and whatnot. When the 1st August storm passes bitcoin will enter stability, Ethereum will go down.

And i just can't see Ethereum gaining so much market cap either..... Only 10% behind bitcoin in terms of market cap, and even closer in terms of trading volume? That's just absurd imo.
4714  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2018 Coinmarketcap on: July 30, 2017, 05:00:36 AM
$7k bitcoin? Probably not going to happen next year. By 2020 though we should see somewhere near that.

Also you seem to be extremely optimistic about the altcoin market, which i have to disagree with. Altcoin already have had their run, Ethereum went from like $10 or less to $400, and now have adjusted back. Same thing happened with ripple. All this hype can't be sustained, whilst bitcoin's price has been very very stable at over $2000 per coin basically every single day.

It is much more likely that we'll see bitcoin stabilize at $3000 next year and altcoins going into a period of bearish market.

BTW, nice inspect element xD
4715  Economy / Speculation / Re: Above $3000 before Aug1. on: July 30, 2017, 04:42:57 AM
Could be wrong, however I have a feeling we're going to be getting a head start on the runup past 3K ahead of August. Just based on the resistance to all the recent news/btc-e/mixer/etc and it's still testing the high 2 the closer we get.

Thoughts? And if it does go past 3 (say 3.25+), you think we'll be going straight to 4 in a semi-straight pump? (I kinda do)

Also right now on CMC it's one of the first times I've seen all the alts SO all over the board on the charts - aka NOT following the current BTC run.

Doesn't seem likely at this point in time.

BTC-e is probably going to go down as the second Mt Gox, and even though there seems to be a lot of optimistic people regarding how the fork is going to turn out, there are still doubters of the fork who would want to pull out beforehand.

I wouldn't be surprised honestly if price dropped to sub-$2500 before 1st August.

Unless Bitcoin Cash decides to not activate their hard fork on 1st August, then this current price point is probably going to be the high for this and next month.
4716  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] ETH Have Webmoney on: July 30, 2017, 04:35:33 AM
Looking to buy 1-2 ETH for webmoney. I can go first to those users whom I trust else I can send funds with code protection and will provide code after receiving eth.

Thanks.

escrow accepted?

Yes. I don't have any problem.

Go to localbitcoins: https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/webmoney/

As per my experience on bitcointalk people who take webmoney either demand really shitty rates for your WMZ or they have insane limits. Plus a lot of people aren't bothered to take escrow as an option.

LBC is much safer. You get inbuilt escrow and all that, seeing you are a pretty member here you should know all this anyways. Plus, you actually get matched up with people who use webmoney on a daily basis(mostly russians).
4717  Economy / Services / Re: Altcoin/Fiat Arbitrage Tool, 30 exchanges and ALL COINS supported on: July 26, 2017, 08:55:55 AM
Any more vouch copies to be given out? Cheesy I would love to get my hands on one.

The site definitely looks very simple at least at the moment, the interface imo should be improved as time goes on. I realise that it is still the early parts of the service which is why i'm not blaming you for it.

Getting a domain name really helps as well...

Good luck with the project and let me know if i can have a free user Smiley
4718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase won't support UAHF/Bitcoin ABC on: July 23, 2017, 11:09:55 AM
i don't think the chances of that happening are that high. meaning they probably won't go through with it.

as far as exchanges go, someone will list it eventually. you can see BTU is still on bitfinex and the dump that happened from ~0.2BTC price down to ~0.03BTC and then the daily volume of $20 for some time!

people will treat it as air drop. something like what Stellar or Byteball or 100 other altcoins do. they give free altcoin tokens to bitcoin holders and they dump them as soon as they get them to get more BTC

BCC or others simply don't have the support.

exactly. Nobody will treat this as the real bitcoin or even a competitor of bitcoin, it's just something that has really just gone wrong with Bitmain's thinking in my opinion. It's not even a fork. It's a damn altcoin and one with a premine iirc(correct me if i'm wrong people). Either way i think that i don't think bitcoin abc/bitcoin cash isn't something anyone should hold/invest in.

If you have your coins in a private key that you hold then great, you have free coins that you can dump as soon as you receive them. Coinbase's decision in my opinion is by no means shocking to anyone at all.

Though it's not surprising that viabtc is accepting this coin as a trading pair... After all they and bitmain are probably the only two companies to endorse it...
4719  Economy / Speculation / Re: When $10k? on: July 23, 2017, 07:17:38 AM
The crypto market cap is still relatively tiny.

Yes, if you compare the crypto market cap to say gold and silver's market cap you'll quickly realise that it is nowhere near the size of even precious metals, let alone the fiat currencies that bitcoin is supposed to be replacing.

John McAfee said that $500,000 in next 3 years is definite, i definitely wouldn't bet my own dick on live TV for that but $10k in 4 years is easy as f***. No kidding, price is already near $3000 and all we need is a triple in value. Usually a halving will bring around a 5-7x increase in bitcoin value and there is no reason to believe this isn't the case in the 2020 halving.

Honestly though i'd much rather see bitcoin have more merchants accepting it and a wider customer base, instead of its price just skyrocketing.
4720  Economy / Speculation / Re: John McAfee: Bitcoin will go above 500k $ in 3 years on: July 23, 2017, 07:14:40 AM

It's nice to have someone that is so confident in bitcoin's future. And i applaud him for that.

He's obviously generating some quality media exposure for bitcoin, in my opinion. But probably not in the right way, it'll be very hard to keep his promise if something doesn't go his way. half a million are in the dreams for most people.

But hey, it seems like that his comments have made sure that bitcoin price rebounded from the monthly low to a respectable $2700-$2800. And plus, he is quite well known so even though you have to take his words with a grain of salt, if he's so confident then there is a reason to be.
