4701  Other / Meta / Re: How is activity calculated?? on: January 29, 2015, 04:17:01 PM
in simple language 14 days = 14 activity or

14 post in 1 day = 14 activity

after 14 days post again to increase activity
Yes i know that
To clarify , if i make a newbie account and post 14 times , my activity will be 14 and if i login again after 14 days and post 14 times asap , my activity will again increase
But what if i made account and did 50 posts , i will be at 14 activity but then i do not come for a month , so will i miss that 28 activity or will i get it ?
4702  Other / Meta / How is activity calculated?? on: January 29, 2015, 04:08:43 PM
I know it's like this as Said by theymos
The way activity is calculated:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

But in simple words i think it means 14 activity in 14 days
But let us suppose a person stays offline for 2-3 months but his post count is more , so will his Activity rise even if he doesn't come online or post [I know that's completely irrelevant since it depends on time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration) but just clearing things..
Also what if suppose a person have 500 activity and 500 posts and he hasn't posted since a year
How will activity work then ?
Am asking this because i see someone's (who was idle for long time ) activity rise more than 14 within a day after his posts.[Don't ask who]

I am still noob to Trust thing.

how exactly does this Trust works ?

Here's how it works:

When someone scams another person, the victim can make themselves feel better by leaving the scammer Negative trust.

That forces the scammer to make or buy a new account for their next scam.  It's harsh, but fair.

To better their scamming abilities, creative scammers can make multiple accounts and give themselves Positive trust.

This is all highly ironic because if a reliable trust system was possible, we wouldn't need Bitcoin (which ingeniously replaced the unworkable, Byzantine trust schemes with proof of work).

The system helps make good decisions, you can see how left the trust rating so if it's newbies and unknown traders you take it into account.

Yes actually i was busy since i joined so haven't been looking into all this, had a trade with a guy in start and thus added him in trusted feedback, Just got to know all about it , i can actually see the world better now Wink

Trusted feedback needs to be done by trusted members to be valuable feedback. You have to consider the experience of the member too : if he is an hero with positive feedback or a Senior Member that is doing a lot of trades and their password have not been changed recently (you see that on his trust rating page) you can quite safely send first up to 0.3.
For bigger trades, use an escrow or make multiple trades of 0.3

Yeah thanks... am good with trades and all
Just this Trust thing was confusing me since i didn't had defaultrust , now i changed my settings to defaulttrust and all is good Smiley

Selling 15 Bitcoins for Paypal or Payza

Procedure -

1)  Send payment through Paypal or Payza

2)  Wait for the Money to be withdrawn to my bank account ( Usually 2 - 5 business Days )

3)  After the money comes in my bank account bitcoins are send to your wallet address

ONLY MEMBERS WITH GOOD RATING APPROACH !!!

Note - When it comes to the " Trust " factor I am at far more greater risk than the buyer because Paypal Transactions are reversible while Bitcoins are not so I have to be sure that the money shows in my bank account before I transfer the coins.

Anyone interested to make the deal PM me.

Would you use Escrow ?
You can release Escrow after 5-6 days when you receive paypal $$ in you bank account
Also as stated by KWH , post your btc address with 15 BTC

Go here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust

Check who is in your trust list. Put in only DefaultTrust to see the default setting that most people see, though I don't recommend using that and recommend adding/removing people who leave accurate/inaccurate feedback.

Thanks man! got it right now Smiley

oh! bitstamp was down ? and is Up again
Never knew :-/
Though it's good to see a exchange which came up good Smiley

They lost a few coins. Nothing to make them go under, though.

They lost coins ? or the users?
First they lost the coins and because they lost coins, they lost some users too. They are tying to get earn back people's trust by providing them with 0% fee trades and they said that no one will loose his money.

Okay! Quite good incentive they took there , so to keep their customer's . At a time where BTC is much volatile , we can't afford to see one more Mt. Gox
4719  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Beware of LocalBitcoins.com on: January 27, 2015, 05:52:25 PM
I think BurtW must update this thread, with some details on why they arrested him?

If localBitcoins are targeted in the USA or any other country, for whatever reason, we should all know about it. We cannot use a service and then get arrested, for doing something wrong, if everyone kept saying, it was a legitimate operation.

I think this is why, Coinbase is going the regulated / licenced route in the USA, to prevent this from happening to other people.

One of these days, you will not be able to buy Bitcoins, if the NSA/FBI/NASA/ or ALL government institutions have not approved it. {So much for privacy and annonymity}

BurtW hasn't been online since 28 dec , so we don't know where he is , he will surely give us some heads up when he gets back.
Hope he is doing fine
