4721  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Turkey vs Trump on: August 15, 2018, 12:09:36 AM
Having read the title for a second I thought Trump got into a dispute with some random turkey pooping on White House lawn and tweeted something juvenile about our favorite Thanksgiving meal.

Which would probably make a lot more sense than the US getting into juvenile disputes with allies. Not that Turkey is a super great ally but still a NATO member. This will just alienate them even more and strengthen Erdogan. I can't imagine how that benefits the US.

I was ready to put money on the turkey BTW. In our neighborhood wild turkeys roam the streets in gangs of 15-20 and don't take shit from no one.

What are they doing to do about it?

They could tell the US to pack up their military bases into a U-Haul truck and move them somewhere else.

Wild turkeys roam the streets in gangs of 15-20?

You must not have people who know the art of smoking and barbecuing turkeys.

Because guys that do don't take shit from turkeys.
4722  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SpaceX and the prospects of Mars colonization. on: August 15, 2018, 12:05:24 AM
I believe so too. Time will come when we are going to move and take over Mars, probably because Earth will no longer be livable.....
Mars is pretty darn "unlivable," FYI.

On Mars you would be living in a tunnel, always. Outside, air pressure is 1-2% of Earth and crazy cold.

Why not then live in a tunnel on Earth?
4723  Other / Politics & Society / Re: shouldn't we plant billions of trees now? because on: August 14, 2018, 09:50:01 PM
First thing to do must be deforestration so we limit damaging nature. Then identify areas that require tree planting. But identify what correct species of tree should be planted in those areas and.

No, I'm definitely planting algae. No trees. There are enough trees.
4724  Other / Politics & Society / Re: shouldn't we plant billions of trees now? because on: August 14, 2018, 03:14:49 PM
We should take more care about our ocean too (http://www.ecology.com/2011/09/12/important-organism/):
"It is estimated that marine plants produce between 70 and 80 percent of the oxygen in the atmosphere. Nearly all marine plants are single celled, photosynthetic algae."

Another organisms to take note of is the Phytoplankton (https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/Phytoplankton):
"Like land plants, phytoplankton have chlorophyll to capture sunlight, and they use photosynthesis to turn it into chemical energy. They consume carbon dioxide, and release oxygen."

Wait, so we should plant more algae?

I could plant millions or billions of algae but only a few trees.
4725  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: August 14, 2018, 03:11:39 PM
The global warming is increasing day by day, the rising heat, temp. increase, water level rising are all to explain about this process. Roll Eyes

It must be real because all of the fake posters to this thread say it is.
4726  Other / Off-topic / Re: What will the cities of the future look like? on: August 14, 2018, 12:27:24 AM
I think the cities in the future will be a lot better at harmonising with nature. e.g. lots of greenery integrated with artificial structures, complete reliance on renewable energy, etc. I think the days where science, tech and industry can only gain at the expense of the environment are quickly coming to a close.

Cities of the future will look like Singapore.
4727  Other / Politics & Society / Re: shouldn't we plant billions of trees now? because on: August 14, 2018, 12:26:18 AM
Not only that, it is important for us to do this now so that we could at least help save the planet. Earth is falling apart and some of us are not paying attention to it or are denying the fact that we are all responsible for whatever is going on in our planet and that is the sad part. Planting trees may not be much, but it will be a big step towards trying to alleviate the effects of global warming.

Why?

Why must it be TREES?

maybe it should be marihuana.

Or bamboo, which is a grass, not a tree.
4728  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Earth’s Greatest Threats on: August 14, 2018, 12:22:39 AM
They're so numerous that naming them makes no sense. Our world is ridiculously fragile...

Odd, I see the world as remarkably resilient and strong. It is the sum of successful methods of billions of years, right?

Fragile?

Bah.
4729  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Alex Jones and Trump on: August 13, 2018, 11:48:12 PM
In the spirit of Jones' undercover video of the Moloch sacrifice at the Bohemian Grove...

I assure you I was never sacrificed at the Bohemian Grove, and Alex Jones is a complete moron

Alex Jones makes up bullshit, and has an aversion to telling the truth about anything... its all lies, 100%... you can literally fact check any sentence out of his mouth and find a lie

I just took a look at infowars.com, and most, like over 90% of the stories, I have no problem at all with.

This is a guy whose views go UP if he gets BANNED.
4730  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: August 13, 2018, 11:40:41 PM
Of course is real! We are the fuc*ing cancer of the planet. Everything we come across, we destroy.

We'll maybe not be alive to see it, but if it keep going like this, our grandchildren are going to remember the fact that we did not thought about them...

When the next ice age comes, and is much milder than otherwise would be the case...
4731  Other / Politics & Society / Re: $50,000 electric car or $45 carbon filter on: August 13, 2018, 03:04:16 AM
The product as described cannot work. Any other questions?

It is all about the game and how you play it.

No it isn't about the game and how you play it.

It's about a completely fraudulent device that does nothing, which is alleged to do very specific things, by some people seeking investment capital.
4732  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Space X and the prospects of Mars colonization. on: August 13, 2018, 02:29:23 AM
....Why do you think it would take a manned spaceship longs to get to Mars than an unmanned one? I'm sure they would do everything possible to make it as quick as possible. This way they wouldn't have to worry about having extra food and resources.
....

Because the orbits of the two planets have to line up in a way that makes it a short trip. A short trip "coming AND going" isn't going to happen.

Face it, round trip to Mars is four years or longer.
4733  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Electric Cars - The future ? on: August 08, 2018, 02:29:01 PM
electric cars are the best way to minimize pollution in our country and most of all on our mother earth.
less noise and it can help to maintain a clean atmosphere.
Yes, I really want it to be coming soon among us electric cars, so that air pollution from burning of diesel and diesel engines soon disappears. so that our earth gets better and leads to a healthy and soothing earth.

So you want pollution from the coal power plants that would power the electric cars?
4734  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Humans are virus for the earth? on: August 08, 2018, 02:27:59 PM
....,.She had take a piece of land in the desert and completely brought it to life. There were so many different plants there. I think this is a good example of a human actually helping rather than bringing down.

I got some news for you, deserts are ecosystems.

Why do you praise destroying it?
4735  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Space X and the prospects of Mars colonization. on: August 08, 2018, 01:52:53 PM
The moon has some very interesting aspects but it is depleted in certain key elements of the periodic table such as H, C, N. That being the case means the Moon cannot support life by itself, and also means many things cannot be natively manufactured there. (plastics, carbon steel, ...)

Mars does have a full set of elements. It is farther away, but the rocket energy required for Mars is a bit less than the Moon.
Cool. Thanks for sharing. It's nice to talk to somebody who seems to know so much. It's really interesting that it requires less rocket energy to get to Mars than to the moon. Does this mean that we could have landed on Mars already instead of the moon? It would kinda be funny if we had already been on another planet before we were on our moon. It would be interesting if we could just skip ahead 50 years and see if there will actually be any breakthroughs in space travel in the near future.

Well, how different is air travel 1968 - 2018?
Haha, good question. This reminded me of a Buzzfeed article I saw a while back. They are saying that air travel was actually better in the 1960s: https://www.buzzfeed.com/gabrielsanchez/air-travel-was-way-better-in-the-1960s. It did seem more spacious and fancy. I'm assuming it was much more expensive back then to fly relative to inflation than it is now. For the most part air travel doesn't seem to have changed that much, but I guess the planes have gotten bigger and they don't need to stop to fuel up like they used to usually. That last point is pretty significant in comparison to space travel. If planes can fly further now than they could 50 years ago, then maybe in 50 more years the spaceships will be able to fly further.

Probably so. But in space, everything is moving, so "further" means "longer." For example, the relatively huge ship displayed in "The Martian" is not unrealistic for a 2-3 year voyage for a half dozen people.

4737  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Islam kill Christians? on: August 07, 2018, 09:56:17 PM
....
That's just an idiot who doesn't follow the rules of true Islam, every imam that just makes up stories and deviates from the koran is an idiot to me. And I can understand where you come from, because you get to see articles like this and it's pretty easy to shape ones mind about a certain topic, hence I won't go into a further discussion with you about this topic. Have a nice day.

Statistics on percentages of Muslim populations that support violence don't support your ideas, and I suspect that you are well aware of it. But that doesn't matter because they aren't following the "True Islam" right?

I am curious, have you heard of the logical fallacy called the "True Scotsman?"

You might just want to look that up.

You have a nice day also.
4738  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Islam kill Christians? on: August 07, 2018, 11:47:33 AM
Hey friend, I think you really have to be educated about this topic. It's wrong to say what you say in your original post. IT's as if every muslim kills christians. In the Holy Book of the muslims it is stated that all religions should be respected and therefor it is not allowed to just kill people. Killing isn't even something Islam encourages.

THere are terrorists that are so called ''muslims''. Well they are not and they just feed the media. Which in turn educates people in the wrong way. In short: Islam does not condone killing/murder.

Says who? YOU? Every muslim cleric is able to make up his own ideas and promote them as the true path. There is no centralized authority.

You obviously haven't looked at the history or statistics on these matters.
I totally agree with you that every muslim cleric is able to make up his own ideas and promote them as true path. This is not peculiar to only muslims, there are more than a 100 version of christianity as well. Extremism is a religion on its own no matter their affiliations. Muslims are being anihilated in Rohingya and the whole world is unlooking. Muslims are being killed in Syria, killed in Iraq, Afghanistian, Libya. Who are those killing them? Christians? Jews??? It's bull-shit to say muslims are killing christians because even the so called 'muslim terrorists' have killed more muslims much more than they would ever kill christians. Let's all just agree that the world is a total mess. How many Muslims have come out on social media and say their religion supports killings?

Quite a few Muslims have came out in support of violence, but they don't seem to care whether it's what they consider a non-true version of Islam or a different religion a la Christianity, they are happy to kill them just the same.

As you note the vast majority (Would not surprise me if it was > 90%) of those killed by Muslim religious extremists are Muslims.

I would like to point out that the US is constantly digging itself further into debt. IT would be more accurate to say, "It's not like we're going to be digging further into debt any more quickly."

I would like to point out that the freeloaders are constantly looking for more ways to get free stuff. It would be more accurate to say "It's not like the $10,000 of free money a year is the end, it's only the beginning!"

would you take a space x coin?
Hell no.

Because they have an 18th century concept of colonization.

The 21st century of space colonization will be massive numbers of robots and production facilities FIRST. This will happen with simultaneous creation of an economy on Mars.

After suitable industry and human habitats are built, after chemical and industrial stocks are in place, after some forms of food production have been proven for a decade or two, then and only then some people go.
