I use easy php. made for local network web serving only, and easy to setup. everything you need for anubis in one package.

nice post.

except for this:

Do you think form is above content and as such it's okay to invade foreign countries and slaughter civilians just as long as nobody says shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker or tits on TV? Great for being an American, horrible for the free world. You will lose money.

this part made me lol.

youre right, its cheaper to let them slaughter their own civilians.

From Cablez thread:
...plug adapters for my BFL singles...2.5/5.5mm DC plug

thanks!

[apologies for not finding that thread meself, my seachfoo must suck ]
4787  Other / Off-topic / BFL single power supply plug on: September 03, 2012, 02:47:46 PM
What size is the BFL single power supply plug? Im looking to hack an adapter up.

I know cablez makes some sweet adapters but I have everything I need except for the plug specs. Id like to just hit up a local radio shack for it and presto! Im done.
4788  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL ASIC DESIGN? on: September 01, 2012, 04:16:57 PM
The new units will be even more aesthetically pleasing than the originals.

why? I mean you have seen some of the, er.. shall we say.. "function over aesthetics" gpu/fpga rigs. I dont think many care about looks.

my single is "cute" looking according to my wife. until it is turned on and is the noise kicks in. so now its the cutest thing in the basement where no one can see it. or hear it.

please, instead of aesthetics, how about stackable. and quiet.
4789  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL single revision level differences on: August 19, 2012, 06:25:03 PM
KIDC, Askit2, thanks for the info.

I wonder if they just keep sending a copy of the same original packing slip as mine has no date.

easyminer mentioned a version number too. could of sworn it was "1" but I cant remember if it said "version" or "revision." Ill check it out next time I run it.

I did flip the fan to blowing down but left the front/side cover on (cats here). temp went up by 1.5 C, but again I left the case together. so its back to blowing up. once I move it to the basement and its protected from the animals Ill run it with no front/sides on it and try the fan both ways.

still gonna change the paste to MX-2 but when I was about to pull the HS I didnt think I had enough for two chips left. Once I get more Ill give it a shot. I like artic cooling paste, it hasnt failed to give better temps on anything Ive put it on yet.

I moved the single to a slightly different location as I think it was getting a bit of warm exhaust air from rig that was driving it. I flashed the 832 bitstream back to it and after 18 hrs no throttles or HW errors so Ill leave it for now. cgminer says 820 MH/s now.

that sucker sure is sensitive to ambient temps but Im not surprised as the case airflow on that thing sucks beyond belief. it needs vents in the upper front next to the HS the heat pipes go through.
4790  Other / Off-topic / BFL single revision level differences on: August 18, 2012, 01:00:19 PM
did a search here and google and perhaps my search foo sucks but I cant find anything on this. what exactly are the differences?

my single arrived. packing slip indicates "Rev 1".

on top, the unit has the gold and silver HSF with the heat pipes. the bottom has a small fan also. so isnt this a revision 3?  revision 1 (the originals) had a solid black HSF with no heat pipes on top didnt they?

auto tune settled on an 816 MH/s bitstream. cgminer says 800 average. @ 73 F ambient, this is withing spec, but Ill pull it apart and redo the heat sink compound with MX 2 later today and hopefully pull better performance.
4791  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Relaxed miner, what graphis card to buy next. on: July 17, 2012, 12:50:23 AM
this. get a current generation (7xxx) ATI card, whatever fits in your budget.

dont get old tech or used.

There's nothing wrong with old tech or used if it has the right price/performance ratio.

for dedicated mining, yes.

if the OP is just mining part time, Im thinking get a card that could (later) feel at home in a HTPC, game rig, be low power @ idle, such like that. 5xxxx stuff may rock at mining for the price, but compared to current gen, they use power like gangbusters.

as for used, I worry about the fan condition more than anything. would suck if you need to replace the HSF with aftermarket a month after buying it.

I would get anything in the 7000 series you can afford even a 7770 radeon will play most games perfectly at 1080p.

4793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 13, 2012, 11:47:43 AM
if they had paid out all those verified claims in a timely manner, there (probably) wouldnt have been all that coin and money in mtgox to steal.

PS I have nothing in bitcoinia, just observing with disbelief.
4794  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining hardware and battery backups (UPS) on: July 13, 2012, 10:59:44 AM
that one rig that crashes.. it only crashes while on battery power?

also, i should think the PSU shouldnt make abnormal noises while on battery, I have 3 rigs on APC UPSs and none make noise (one is an antec earthwatts 650 green).

try swapping the power cord on the noisy PSU, they can go bad (corrosion on the plug, internal fraying etc)
4795  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows 2.4.4 on: July 01, 2012, 08:50:05 PM
the intensity was set to "-10".  It will switch to any static (-10 through 14) intensity if I enter it with the GPU settings, or in the .conf file, but as soon as it is set back to dynamic (d) it pegs right back to -10 and stays there.

same here.

dynamic sits a -10. took a while though (started around 5), not sure exactly but within 1/2 hour of firing up 2.4.4 it was a -10 and wont budge. set intensity to a number, then back to "d", and its back to -10

clean install (I always just create a new folder and install to it). 6870, win7 64 bit, 11.11 driver, 2.5 sdk. this rig is my daily driver, maybe some program I ran triggered it.

I did notice a "pool 0 not providing work fast enough" in the command window but am unsure if that had anything to do with it.

EDIT: set intensity to 7 for a while (an hour maybe?) and then to dynamic. nows its sitting at 4.
EDIT 2: back to -10 in ten minutes. didnt run much of anything, and nothing in the command windows but accepted shares.

just setting to 7 for now.

this is what Tony from Bitpay told me in PM:

"in the near future the invoice will auto-update when payment has been received.  For now there's a little yellow notification (like gmail) which some browsers cannot display."

i guess it's an issue with our Chrome browsers that don't display the notification
I saw it in Chrome v19, Ubuntu 64bit

firefox 13 displayed the notification also (win7 64 bit).

EDIT: with adblock
4797  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - Pre Order List on: June 25, 2012, 10:42:45 AM
This can be linearly extrapolated from the hash rates and from the claim that Jalapeno is "USB powered" (ie. 2.5W).

USB 2 spec is 2.5 watts. but USB 3.0 can give 900 ma (4.5 watts).

did they say USB 2 or 3?

Edit: of course if anyone has a better idea (than xampp) feel free to chime in

might want to look at easyphp too. apache, php, mysql for windows (WAMP).

http://www.easyphp.org/

Im using it for local display of Anubis and miner.php on my windows network. and its just for development, not production, but thats seems to be what you want.
4799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin ASIC mining lead to litecoin or namecoin adoption ? on: June 17, 2012, 06:49:00 PM
Can you even merge mine using ASIC's ?

sure. the merged mining part is done on the pool side. just point your gpu/fpga/asic/quantumwhammomatic/whatever at a merged mining pool, it does the rest.
4800  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Watercooling with indoor faucet/plumbing on: June 14, 2012, 10:35:36 PM

a (really really long) hose, a pump, some waterblocks and a shovel. how good are you at digging heh.

don't forget the copper pipe Cheesy  Imagine trying to cool off 2kw of energy through a garden hose. Tongue

a (big diameter.. and LONG) garden hose would indeed work, although its not exactly ideal Smiley copper pipe is not needed. as long as heat can get through it. the cooling liquid is in the loop for a while, so super high conductivity isnt needed.

my ground loop is PEX (pretty sure.. Ill check the specs later)
