481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for a simple ewallet, transactions from hot, more difficult than expected on: March 03, 2014, 05:14:15 AM
Sounds like you'd be better off handling transactions on your own server.  You can pretumble the coins, or mix them randomly or something.
482  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stolen Coins Right After Getting Vanity Address on: March 03, 2014, 05:07:26 AM
Sorry to hear that.  Pretty much never let someone else generate a private key for you.  You can just run vanitygen on your own computer if you reaaaly need one.
483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trying to understand on: March 03, 2014, 04:58:35 AM
You can purchase them with BTC on exchanges.  Each altcoin will have its own wallet client.  Some of them have trojans.

#4, no because the entropy of the known universe is still increasing, evolution IS entropy, random DNA mutations is about as entropic as it gets.

Better to just point out that the earth is powered by the sun.
486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WALLET trojan and wallet stealer????? on: March 02, 2014, 05:11:26 PM
people downloading pre-compiled altcoin qt programs and miners that have not been independently verified.
EG i can write clean code with no trojans and put it on a github. i then add a trojan, compile it and say its the exact same as the source code.

I think this is a big way people get infected.

Also there are millions of computers already infected.  The infector sees bitcoin is a big thing and decides to take a look around your computer that she already has acccess to.

And blockchain.info email backup to your compromised email account.
487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do people trust Blockchain.info so much? on: March 01, 2014, 06:56:08 PM
Are the wallet backups password protected when they're sent via email?

Yes, but it's a lot easier to crack a password offline than online because there's no rate limiting.
488  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin client on two laptops ? on: March 01, 2014, 04:49:28 PM
Make sure you have a backup of course before deleting anything Smiley  Or just rename, always safer.
489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do people trust Blockchain.info so much? on: March 01, 2014, 04:47:53 PM
blockchain.info allows backups per mail and dropbox.
so its not a problem if they are down (but i never had that problem though)

i only use them for small amounts too.
big amounts need to be locked Wink

Most times I've seen someone lose bitcoins from blockchain.info it's because they sent a backup to their compromised email.  so be careful with that.
490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't decrypt my paper wallet on: March 01, 2014, 04:41:33 PM
I'v seen a website recently that claims to crack private keys only if you remember at least some part of the key, as you do the website might be just for you
I can't remember its name so try browsing around the forum a bit for it Wink

Maybe there's a website that will crack a website url that you can only remember a part of Smiley
491  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 149.34 BTC and 7397 LTC stolen, assistance appreciated/rewarded on: March 01, 2014, 04:40:45 PM
Sorry to hear that.  Make sure you contact elastic search and ask them to disable this back door.
492  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin client on two laptops ? on: March 01, 2014, 04:28:38 PM
You can copy the wallet.dat to whichever computer you want, but if you do a lot of transactions they will slowly become out of sync because each will be generating new change addresses.  It sounds like you have unrelated problems, try deleting the wallet.dat, let the blockchain download, and then recopy the wallet. Make sure to exit bitcoin-qt before copying.

You should probably use something like electrum, the wallet is easier to sync between multiple computers because they will all generate the same addresses.

Are you using the same version of chrome?  And same OS?

Anyone have a link to a password mutator?  (for lack of better word, to capitalize random letters, switch them to numbers, etc)

Got it this morning, thanks
495  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Block solving times 2-3 hours?? Most the time it's less than a hour. on: March 01, 2014, 04:28:34 AM
Everyone works on the same block -- the next block.  There isn't another block to work on.  Whoever "finds" it first gets the reward.
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Solve this riddle on: March 01, 2014, 03:32:28 AM
The 1 BTC was destroyed when you sent it to XXX.  For your purposes it's either in YYY or ZZZ, the change address.
497  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.01 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE on: March 01, 2014, 03:27:25 AM
I didn't get paid yet today, is there a delay in the processing?
498  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When buying BTC with CC or PayPal how long does it take to be risk free? on: March 01, 2014, 01:50:17 AM
Yes, but that's what I don't understand. Let's suppose that after 30 days the seller withdraws his funds from his PayPal account and 5 days later the buyer files a dispute and PayPal rules in his favor? What happens to the seller's account now that the funds were already withdrawn? Consider two scenarios: one where there are enough funds in his acount from other transactions, and another where the account is empty. What could PayPal do, freeze the seller's account?

I'm sure paypal would just debit the bank account that's linked to their paypal.  If that is empty then it goes to collections + insufficient funds fee.
499  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 22 Messages From Creationists To People Who Believe In Evolution on: March 01, 2014, 01:48:04 AM
My problem with the theory of evolution is that it is born purely out of the scientific method which conveniently chooses to ignore, and in fact *must* ignore, any philosophical, mathematical, or other kinds of non-empirical facts or truths in the process of theory-making.  And it does this despite absolutely depending upon certain philosophical and mathematical truths to have any kind of consistent methodology at all.  In other words, the same philosophical and mathematical foundation upon which science is built is not permitted in the actually process of scientific theory-making.  Hence, science is an incomplete methodology.

Please stop taking all medication and using all technology because that was all fruit of the scientific method.  Actually just ask your doctor to switch you to a different medication, your current one isn't working.
