481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to figure out total power draw of a GPU? on: September 23, 2017, 10:47:22 AM
If you really want to track power consumption over time for many rigs, this is the way to go:

http://www.brultech.com/greeneye/

Each GEM will do 32 rigs.  You can add more GEMs as needed if you have more than that.
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is $120 a day possible with the Bitmain Antminer D3 !? on: September 21, 2017, 12:05:22 AM
Why doesn't Bitmain put 100% of the D3's they produce to work mining as soon as they come off the line vs. selling them to the public?

Is it because all their mining warehouses are at capacity and they simply can't find/build additional locations to mine with them to keep up with the rate at which they produce them?

I have read the stories about Bitmain "testing" them for weeks/month before selling to the public.  But if they are still producing $100/day at that point, why not just keep mining with them?  Perhaps the Chinese government has some sort of export mandate forcing to sell at least a certain percentage of them?
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining v0019 on: September 20, 2017, 08:05:40 PM
Would there be any issues with running v0019 on the new Asus B250 Mining Expert motherboard?  (the one with 19 PCIe slots)

Will it support running, say 19x 1050Ti's for example?

Looking at the bash script, it looks like support only goes up to 14.  If I modify it to allow up to 19, will it work?
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is $120 a day possible with the Bitmain Antminer D3 !? on: September 20, 2017, 03:58:14 PM
So the D3 is based on 16nm tech, correct?  Is Bitmain likely to release faster units based on newer tech that will also list for ~ $1,450 and start out making ~$100/day if you get in early enough?  Or was the D3 a one time opportunity never to be had again?

Looking at that difficulty chart, is seems like even if they come out with something based on 8nm tech that does 100 Gh/s, it won't start out at $100/day on DASH, even if released early next year.
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: September 19, 2017, 06:11:40 PM
@crazydane On average I get the best daily returns from suprnova/luck/zhash roughly maybe in that order? if my miner finds a block on luck it obviously comes out ahead. I'm using luck because it's easy to look at basic stats individually
Thanks.  Now that I have been awarded the early adopter rewards on zhash and the bonus virtual miner stuff is done, I'll check out suprnova and luck.

I see you have a Ntelos phone.  I work there, well sort of, we split the company a few years back and I went on the wireline side, now Lumos Networks.
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: September 19, 2017, 06:07:23 PM
thank you for your answer dan, seems like it wont be that expensive as i thought afterall, do i need a microinverter for every panel installed? how do you manage/know how much power are you generating? is there an app that links this info to your phone or something like that? im asking this because in the microinverter image i see like a wifi antenna, buying them at $92 seems pretty nice, sadly in mexico they are at $4500 pesos each one which is roughly $260 dollars lol
So with Micro Inverters, you have one on each panel.  You then string the inverters together, up to 15 max, and then connect them to a 240V 20A breaker and you're done.  These are grid tie inverters, so they won't even turn on until they see a solid 240V @ 60Hz coming from the grid.  Also, when the grid goes down, they immediately shut down.   This a mandatory safety feature so that linemen working on the lines won't get zapped from a gried tied system putting power out across a downed grid.

To monitor the production of the individual panels, you'll want this guy:

http://www.doubleradius.com/Manufacturers/sunMAX/Ubiquiti-sunMAX-Solar-Gateway.html

It snaps onto the side of the solar panel array and has an Ethernet port and can handle about 60 panels.  It communicated with the micro inverters using low power Blutooth.  That's what those antenna's you see are for.  The Solar Gateway has a build in webserver that you can point a browser to and see solar production data for each panel, as well as the overall production from all panels in the array.

So Vosk, you have switched from zhash.pro to luckpool as your preferred zen pool?
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: September 19, 2017, 03:30:36 PM
I mine Zen on zhash.pro and my pattern looks like this:

The averages shown are pretty much spot on with what EWBF is telling me.  I run 13x 1080Ti with moderate overclocks on both Core and RAM.  Also got a pair of 1070s similarly clocked.  I have only been mining on this pool since the 14th.
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: September 19, 2017, 03:20:39 PM
hey dan, im about to build my array, which brand and wattage would you recomend for the panels and microinverters?, i consume about 2500kWh each 2 months.

I dont plan to reduce my bill to $0, but i want to try first with at least 4 panels..
I went with Ubiquiti sunMAX.  I have a lot of their network gear and have been very pleased with it, so I figured I'd give the sunMAX solar products a shot.

260W panels are $203:

http://www.doubleradius.com/Manufacturers/sunMAX/Ubiquiti-sunMAX-Solar-Panel.html

And their 250W inverters are $92:

http://www.doubleradius.com/Manufacturers/sunMAX/Ubiquiti-sunMAX-Microinverter.html

So for under $300, you have a 260W setup.  I got 80 panels and micro inverters, so 20.8kW system for $23,600.  To that cost you add mounting hardware (roof or ground mount) and then misc hardware and electrical.  Still, at the end of the day, your cost is about $1.50 per Watt if you do it yourself.

I was a very early customer of theirs, and I did have 20 out of 80 inverters fail within the first 6 month due to them all being from a pre-release batch that should have never been in the wild.  But they shipped 80 new inverters and I have only had to use 20 of them so far.  This is way I'm looking at doing another array since I already have the inverters.  I have had no failures from the replacement inverters.

I'm mining ZEN using EWBF.  I'm trying to find the EWBF start.bat file so that I can add --api 10.0.1.53:4200 to it like I had when running EWBF under windows, but I'm not having much luck.  Any advice on how to add that would be appreciated.  This way I can monitor the miner from another machine on my LAN.

I found this on the net:

Code:
in the ZEC section of oneBash apx line 811:

if [ $COIN == "ZEC" ]
then
HCD='/home/m1/zec/miner'
ZECADDR="$ZEC_ADDRESS.$ZEC_WORKER"
until $HCD --eexit 3 --fee $EWBF_PERCENT --pec --server $ZEC_POOL --user $ZECADDR --pass z --port $ZEC_PORT;
   do
   echo "FAILURE; reinit in 5" >&2
   sleep 5
done
fi

change this line:

until $HCD --eexit 3 --fee $EWBF_PERCENT --pec --server $ZEC_POOL --user $ZECADDR --pass z --port $ZEC_PORT;

to:

until $HCD --eexit 3 --fee $EWBF_PERCENT --pec --server $ZEC_POOL --user $ZECADDR --pass z --port $ZEC_PORT --api;

this will for the EWBF default: 127.0.0.1:42000,

But don't see this section in the 1bash file.

I have a 20kW solar array that I installed myself.  Total cost was around $30k all inclusive.  The quotes I got were over twice that.

I have a net metering agreement with my POCO, so what I don't use goes back on the grid and the POCO credits me at the same rate I pay, so 1:1.  I'm in VA.

Before I started mining, I was actually building up a bank of kWh with the POCO since I didn't consume as much as I generated.

In June I generated 2,580 kWh and consumed 2,348,

In July I started mining and generated 2,846 kWh and consumed 3,974 kWh.

August was crazy hot.  I generated 2,474 kWh and consumed 5,245 kWh.

My kWh rate is fixed year around and is about $0.12 with everything included.  With the solar and assuming I consume twice as much as I generate, my effective rate is about $0.06 per kWh.  I plan to add another 6.5 kW array, which I can do for about $4,800 since I already have the inverters and just need to get the panels and some Ironridge rails and hardware.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows mining monitoring tool - v2-BETA [OPEN BETA] on: September 17, 2017, 02:29:07 PM
Launching monitorig.exe as admin fixes the issue with OHM not starting, but is is still showing 4 GPUs and when I look in Afterburner, there is no load on the single GPU so it doesn't look like it is actually launching the EWBF miner.  I tried removing the "REM" from the miner start.bat file, but it made no difference.

So perhaps mining ZEN with EWBF on the zhash.pro (very new pool) is not supported?

Should I not be seeing a EWBF miner window pop up if everything is working correctly?
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows mining monitoring tool - v2-BETA [OPEN BETA] on: September 17, 2017, 11:56:20 AM
For some reason it does not behave as expected for me.  Did a clean install on a rig with just a single 1080Ti card.

1. I started OpenHardwareMonitor (launched with no issues)

2. Edited config.js, telling it to use ewbf-zec

3. Edited start.bat in the miners\ewbf-zec folder to the following:

Code:
REM miner --server zhash.pro --user znTNFDKAUkFFvZcSJemSXqb23Z12S6nPTKT.skylake --pass solar --port 3059 --log 2
exit

4. Launched monitorig.exe.

When I did 4, it launched a 2nd copy of OpenHardwareMonitor.  So I killed both instances of ohm and also monitorig.  I then tried launching monitorig again, but it now failed with a message that ohm wasn't running.  So I did it the other way again (launch ohm first, then monitorig).  I now have 2 instances of ohm running again, but at least monitorig comes up.

So this is what my desktop looks like:

Note how minerig thinks I have 4 GPUs when I only have 1?

The view from the monitorig website:

So my guess is that running ohm twice is causing this issue?

Also, with the above running, when I go to my pool, I'm not actually mining, so that's obviously the biggest problem of all.  Smiley

So I killed minerig and the 2 instances of ohm.  I then went back to my folder with EWBF in it and launched my bat file, and got the following window:

And now I'm mining to my pool again.  As you can see, there's only a single 1080Ti in this rig.

So I guess the 1st issue to address is why ohm is launching a 2nd time when I start minerig?  I have not yet created a scheduled task in Win10 to launch ohm.  I want to get it working manually first.

I'm mining ZEN with EWBF.  Does this tool work with ZEN or only ZEC?

Thanks.  Yep, worked like a charm, as did the pico.

Once I get the last 2 1080Ti's added, I'll make it all look purdy.

Won't be long before I'll max out that 125A sub-panel, lol.
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Parallel Miner 2400w PSU - questions / input requested on: September 14, 2017, 11:00:59 PM
Ok, my bad.  I was looking at this 8-pin PCIe extender cable I had and concluded that the connectors on the GPU side were 4x 12V and 4x GND.

So both a 6 pin and 8 pin PCIe cable has 3 current carrying wires in each direction.  I suppose the 8 pin connector has 5 in one direction, but only 3 in the other, so is seems to me the current capacity is limited to what 3 wires can carry.  I guess typically the gauge must be larger on 8 pin cables?  Just seems odd to me why they did it that way.
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Parallel Miner 2400w PSU - questions / input requested on: September 14, 2017, 10:21:02 PM
Right, so definitely don't plug them in on the GPU side, right?

What I don't understand is why would parallel miner ship GPU cables that are going to fry your GPUs and/or cables and PSUs if you plug in the +2 connector?

From the top image in your pic, it is pretty clear that pins 5-8 are all 12V and it is obvious from looking at the cables that parallel miner ships, that pins 4 and 5 are both GND.

I mean, what devices out there have pins 1-5 as GND and pins 6-8 as 12V?
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Parallel Miner 2400w PSU - questions / input requested on: September 14, 2017, 09:46:55 PM
I got my Delta 2400W PSU today along with the 32 PCIe 6 pin to 6+2 pin cables.  Since the +2 pins are both ground, it seems to me that it would short out my 1080Ti cards if I plug in the +2 connector to the GPU 8 pin connectors, no?  Aren't the 8 pin PCIe connectors on the graphics cards 2 rows of 4 pins, one row being all GND and the other row being all +12V?

That zhash.pro pool is pretty cool.  Not many miners there right now since it is brand new, but he's doing 0% for life for those who join early.
Where'd you see he's doing 0% for miners who join early? I know it says 0% on the site, but that's pretty cool if you get to keep that

He sent me the following email:

Hello! First thanks for your cares about spelling mistake - fixed)))
And about zen. tommorow we will move our own rigs to zen, in the end of this week my freind comes back from the trip and will put on zen his 3x rigs with 8x1080 each.
The bonus will payed to you tommorow! For the first miners the fee will fixed lifetime at level 0%.
Thanks for trust and support our pool. We work hardly and will make everything for you comfort mining!

I'm currently the top Zen miner at that pool with 11.6 KSol/s.  I'm sure that won't last long.  lol
